Roothor

The reincarnation/son/something of Rootthelucario, apparently. Also the god of life and nature.

0 · 964 views · located in Earth

a character in “Do anything you want”, as played by Abraxas_Axis

Groups

The group of gods who created this world.

Description

Roothor is one of the later-formed gods, along with Chandra and Lilith. He is apparently the reincarnation/son/something of Rootthelucario, the former leader of the gods who is now in a comatose state on the Moon Temple. He is the god of life and nature.
He appears as a 5 1/2 foot tall snivy with brown eyes. He wears green robes with gold trim, and carries an oak staff.
He is able to bring anything to life from death, no matter the cause of death. He is also immortal, as a god. He inherited some of the physical traits of his ancestor/father, as he is very physically fit. He can imbue life into something, and can create seeds that grow into anything he can imagine. His staff can grow thorns that are extremely sharp and harmful, and he can shoot them if he desires.
He is very calm and kind. He hates seeing things die.

So begins...

"Hum! I like that idea, Lilith! But how exactly are we going to accomplish that? I'm not exactly sure about the full extent of your abilities, so-"
Mrs Leotard was interrupted by a blinding flash of light. Mrs Leotard turned to see two new figures had joined them; one, a male snivy dressed in green robes with gold trim and holding an oak staff; and the other, a large woman with a mane of fire for hair, dressed in burgundy-dyed leather armor, with a smith's smock over it.
"... the hell is this place?!" said the woman.

Lilith looked slightly confused at the question, but she put it out of her mind for now when the new arrivals spoke up.

She made to answer, "Ah... This is... Uhm...", but came to a realization over the course of the attempt and send Mrs. Leotard a helpless look.

"Lilith just realized, but did we name this plane of existence yet?", she asked awkwardly.

"No, not yet." Mrs Leotard turned to the two newcomers. "I assume you two are newly-formed gods as well?"
"Uhh... I guess?" Said the fire-haired woman.
"I am not exactly sure of how we got here," said the snivy, who Mrs Leotard realized with a start looked a lot like Root, their former leader. Unlike Root's jade green skin, however, this one's was more of a lime color. "Do any of you know someone by the name of Root?"
Mrs Leotard started. "Uh, yes. He was formerly our leader, but he went into a comatose not to long ago, and I put him in a temple to rest. Why?"
"I do not know. I just feel some sort of... connection to him. Almost fatherly, or as if he were my ancestor." The snivy suddenly straightened. "Ah. Excuse my poor manners. My name is Roothor."
Roothor... That name sent a shiver down her spine. "I'm Mrs Leotard."
The snivy raised an eyebrow. "'Mrs'?"
"Um, I'm not actually married or anything. It's just a title."
"Ah."
"I'm Chandra," said the woman with fiery hair, "and who are your friends over here?"

Gregorias looked at all of the new people, getting quite uncomfortable with the rising number of those joining the new land. He took a look at Chandra, being the god of the ocean he was quite against her being so fiery. "I am Gregorias, I am the god of this new worlds seas."

"Lilith is Lilith Erisian", Lilith introduced herself, "Lilith's domain is over...", she looked for a shorter way to say it for a bit, as her earlier introduction was a bit of a mouthful. "The potential of Soul, Life, Free Will that lies within everything and the things it can bring?"

Again, it was more a confused question than a statement, but it did encompass most of it pretty well, even if it was not a perfect summary.

"This is hard", Lilith lamented, "This language thing you guys use just doesn't seem to have a word for my domain."

Unnoticed by Lilith herself, her appearance was changing ever so slightly, no longer being a carbon copy of Mrs Leotard. They still looked a lot alike, but Lilith's skin seemed to be slightly paler, somewhat comparable to the different tints of green of Root's and Roothor's skin. On top of that her eyes, which once crackled with electricity like those of the other goddess, were now clearly defined with fiery coloured irises and slit pupils.

Mrs Leotard took note of Lilith's change, and said nothing. Since change seemed to be her domain (somewhat), it seemed natural she'd change a bit. Besides, it would help differentiate between the two of them.
"I rule over the sky," she explained to the two newcomers, "And Gregorias rules the seas."
"Hmm... It seems my 'domain' would seem to be life or nature," said Roothor. "As in, birth of something new, the spark of existence."
"Mine is rock," said Chandra bluntly. After a few moments of silence, she added, "And metal. And fire."

Lilith stopped paying attention for a bit, frowning a little, and seemingly tested out a word a few times. If one could lip read, they would see that she's saying 'Spark' over and over again. albeit without actually voicing it.

Her expression slowly turned into a sunny one over the course of these actions and she clapped her hands together.

"I like that word. From now on, I'm calling my domain 'Spark'", she said happily.

Gregorias would turn his back on them all, seemingly not caring about the new beings popping up. He would simply sink himself into the waters that he created, wanting to be left alone.

"Okay. Well, I guess we're all here now, so what are we going to do?" said Mrs Leotard.
Chandra shivered. "This place is pretty chilly. Where's all the heat?"
Mrs Leotard started as she realized it was freezing cold. "Umm... I guess we forgot to add a heated core?"
"Pfft. Screw that. I'm going down." A tunnel opened up in the ground, and Chandra slipped through.
"I think this place could do with a bit of life, animal or plant," said Roothor.

"I don't get it. Why do we need heat in the planet when we have the sun I made?" asked Mrs Leotard.
"Ah, but it would appears that someone may have accidentally covered the sun with clouds. You were so caught up in making the sky and weather, you did not try to include them all together." Roothor pointed to the sky, which indeed covered the land in cloudy darkness.
"Well, I'll go fix that." Mrs Leotard flew up into the sky and, concentrating, created a system; a code, almost, where random weather events would happen. The luck seemed to be in their favor, however, and the sky parted to reveal a shining sun.
Soon, the snow on the ground melted. Chandra came back up from the tunnel, which sealed behind her. "Done," she said. "Now what?"

"Lilith was thinking more about what would happen during the night", Lilith confessed to Roothor, while Mrs Leotard was creating the system, "What use is it to grow plants during the day, if the cold of night would kill them,"

Chandra came back up and Lilith welcomed her back. After that she turned to Roothot again,

"Speaking of which", she said to him, "Is Lilith free to grant sentience to any of your Creations, or would you like for Lilith to ask for your input first?"

"It is possible to have a joint control over sentient life. I can create them and dictate how they will be physically, and you can do likewise with the mental or sol traits - since that seems to be part of the aspect of your domain." Roothor paused. "However, you do raise a valid point. How will we keep life alive at night?"
"Well, my core should have a good enough heat to keep plants and underground creatures alive," admitted Chandra, "but and aboveground life? Not so much."
An idea struck Mrs Leotard. "On the moon, I'd created a sort of mausoleum for our former leader - and I guess the father, or ancestor, or past incarnation of Roothor - Root. Perhaps we could expand on that, and build an entire palace for us all! We could build great braziers to keep warmth and some light during the night!"
"That sounds like a fine idea," said Roothor.
"I like the brazier part," said Chandra. "Okay, I guess we're doing this then!"

"It's a deal", Lilith said to Roothor, "Although Lilith reserves the right to ask you to make me one, if she ever gets an amazing idea for a being"

That's not to say Lilith strictly needed Roothor's help, if she really wanted. It has been stated before, but Lilith is, by nature, a spirit entity. She doesn't actually need a solid form, but can take one if she wishes. Likewise, she could first create the soul, and then give it the ability to take physical shape. This would only be needed for the first couple of the species, before they'd have to procreate the old-fashioned way.

Ofcourse this would make the first of the species practically immortal, for as long as Lilith allowed it, but she wouldn't particularly have had a problem with that.

This was all a moot point though.

"Oh, oh..., and Lilith requests we use Seraphfire for the braziers", she said, proud of herself for the idea.

Seraphfire was gentle golden flame, which emitted heat to those in need, even at a distance. It didn't need any fuel to burn, and also wouldn't injure any being, safe for the irredeemable ones. If one had redeeming traits, the fire would work as a cleanser instead, burning away the sin. It would be perfect for both the purpose of warming the earth, as well as help act as a security system.

That was not the first reason she thought of it though, although they were the reasons for her to share her initially whimsical idea. You see, Seraphfire sings. The sound it makes sounding different to every being, but it always has an uplifting effect, whether it was things like soothing anger, or inspiring hope.

Phoenixes could also be born from this fire, but that was neither here nor there for Lilith, who merely remembered it as miscellaneous information.

"Alright then," said Chandra. "Let's get to work."
The gods flew through the Earth's atmosphere, which would protect any life on the planet from the harmful rays of the sun. It was really just a big ball of lightning, and didn't radiate off too much heat, but it, along with the heated temperatures, would keep the world at a normal climate, akin to Spring.
When the gods landed on the Moon, made of dirt brown clay and darker soil, they got to work. Mrs Leotard created an atmosphere akin to the Earth's, in which the fire could thrive. Mrs Leotard wasn't exactly sure that Seraphfire would need oxygen to exist, but she wasn't taking any chances.
Roothor went over to the temple area to go see his father/ancestor/past incarnation. (OOC Note: Godly family blood ties are a b****.) Meanwhile, Chandra had crafted a large palace of marble, iron and gold. The large spires touched the sky, and it looked completely marvelous. She'd also made a bunch of gold and bronze braziers. Chandra called to Lilith, asking for some help in creating the Seraphfire. She could create mundane fires, but it would need Lilith's Sol powers to become Seraphfire.

Lilith bounced over to Chandra, giddy with excitement. She didn't question the fact that Chandra didn't know how to create Seraphfire, since it was only slightly useful in smithing, when one wanted to purify corrupted ores.

"The first thing one needs to know about Seraphfire is that it isn't limited to being created by certain race or anything, it depends on an individual's disposition whether they'll have any luck in creating it. It's just easier to be created by Gods, since knowledge of the true nature of things is... well... in our very nature..."

She paused, "In fact, one could even say that in gaining the Insight of the True Nature of the World, and the Release of Self, a mortal ascends into Godhood, making it in fact, only useable by Gods, but Lilith thinks those are mostly semantics."

"Seraphfire is the Culmination of Life. It is Hope, it is the Will to Continue. It is Joy, it is Love, it is Passion. It is the Reason of Existence manifested as a fire."

"Okay, well let me see if I can make this 'Seraphfire'..."
Chandra inhaled deeply, eyes closed, holding her hands over the brazier. They began to glow with a gentle warmth.
Suddenly, bright golden flames sprouted from all the braziers Chandra had built. The shot into the sky, surrounding the moon in an aura of light and heat.
"Great job, Chandra!" Mrs Leotard said, giving a friendly shoulder clap to the surprised-looking fire goddess. "I better go find Roothor now..."

* * *

Meanwhile, Roothor stood back on Earth, looking up at the newly formed moon. It was time to do his part.
He had mixed feelings about seeing the former ruler of the gods, Root. Sure, he looked a lot like Roothor, but Roothor was not exactly sure what that made him. A son? A reincarnation? A descendent? Or some new god that just happened to look like Root?
It was a moot point. Whatever he was, he was.
He opened his hand. From it dropped a tiny amber seed. It fell to the ground, and immediately life sprang up. Grass; trees; ferns; bushes; mushrooms; moss; all sorts of plants and fungus. He could not create animals yet, as he would need Lilith's help for that. For now, he enjoyed the tall trees, the ripe fruit.
Under the sea, in Gregorias' kingdom, there would be plant life as well. Coral reefs grew from the gray rocks, as well as other oddities as well.

"It's a rush, isn't it?", Lilith asked knowingly.

What Chandra had done was to briefly attune herself to existence after all. Completely. For that one short moment she was everything. To call her Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent wouldn't do the experience the justice it deserved.

It would be jarring to return to her normal state afterwards, restricted to things that had been your everything for all your life, while now knowing there was so much more happening, beyond your current senses.

"Be careful though. Being in that state can be addictive. And power like that can corrupt even the Gods. Luckily Seraphfire itself is an answer to that problem though."

"Well, I'll be careful then," Chandra said with a chuckle. She was starting to get a bit fond of Lilith.
Roothor landed lightly upon the moon. "I have finished making the plants," said Roothor. "Shall we move on to intelligent life now?"

Unlike her serious demeanour only seconds before, Lilith's look turned a bit sheepish, as she remembered the question that had bothered her a while ago. So many things were happening seemingly at once though.

"Can Lilith ask a question?", she asked, although she didn't bother waiting for confirmation.

"What's the difference between plant life and intelligent life-to-be? Lilith isn't sure about the distinction. Is there a reason not to grant plants a spark?"

She honestly didn't know. Lilith could even grant sentience/life to things like rocks, if she so desired, on top of simply creating a spirit and giving it the ability to become physical. She hadn't done that since everyone else didn't even seem to entertain the notion, and when Root joined, she didn't want to leave him out.

She just didn't see the use in granting a spark to only half of his creations though.
