'' Rain!? I'm glad to see you'' He yelled and started to follow the running Rain. His wounds had healed but he was getting really tired. Rain just looked like a big blur of gray. And the trees was bending down. The blood-hounds started to run after them.
'' Rain I join the gruop... the hounds can smell me from miles away'' He said and fell down but quickly got back on his feet. He was getting really tired now. Drained....

Everyone slowly filed in and little Ellie, the one with the scream that could make Kat's ears bleed and make Kate fall to her knees in agony, went right to the back. Kat felt a wave of sympathy wash over her when she saw the girl tap at her ears in an attempt to hear something. Anything really. She'll be the first to die. She's useless and her scream hurts most of us as much as it does those damn guards. "Stop it Kate," Kat hissed out loud, but in more of a whisper. It wasn't to often Kate got under Kat skin. Well... figuratively anyway. She was always like that literally. Kat could feel Kate's irritation too. Kate was always thinking about survival and she was reading everyone and how they could hinder they're own survival.
Kat looked over at Ellie again and found she perched herself up on one of the rocks and began to sigh. Kat could only make out a handful of words, the rest went right over her head."Why - you make me leave?" she signed. "- place is scary! I - like -! What in the world - you think we - - out here?" She repeated the sign for "why" over and over again. In the next moment Boris was over to her, a wide smile over his face as he spoke out loud and signed back. He made a good point as to why they left and Kat smiled at him. Kate on the other hand, seemed like she would rather eat a rotten mouse.
Despite the big guys efforts she was still scared, and then Demitiri was freaking out. Rain was gone. Good luck on that one Kat. "Thanks Kate..." Kate went to Demitiri and place a hand on his shoulder, "Listen. She's smart and strong and there were NO blood-hounds around to have taken her. Once we get the other settled, we'll head out and look, ok? Kate will go with you."

It was a very nice cave, away from the biting cold air, which made it easier to dry off. Griffon felt even more at home in this small enclosure, maybe due to his genes, or just because it was like his cell at the Lab. Either way, it was very comforting. He could lamost forget they were on the run. He settled in fairly close to the entrance, but not too far to seem stand-offish to the others. He closed his eyes and tried to catch some sleep, but the bits and pieces of Boris's speech to the girl, Ellie, kept him awake.
"We are family and together, we will survive."
Family?! Is he serious?! Griffon, like all of the Creatures, had never known the love of a family, let alone the comfort of companionship of people who were not experimenting on him. He let a small smile touch his lips. Hmmm, I could get use to this.
Demitri entered a minute later, and it was very obvious something was wrong, even before he spoke. His siter was gone. Griffon sat up at once, unsure of what to do, but not wanting to be unprepared. Kat came over and tried to comfort the boy, said they would look once everone was settled. Griffon strode past them, into the night air just outside the cave. He closed his eyes, and lifted his nose, trying to catch a scent of anything. Over the water, and a few yards past, he caught the scent of something tangy, something nasty. Poison. But it wasn't stationary, it was moving. HE turned his attention back to the two. "I think your sister caught wind of another one like us. There's something foul smelling on the other side of the river, and it's not blood hound."

"This sister, she is in no danger, Comrade" Boris explained, patting Demitri on the back.
He could see his words weren't helping. Boris frowned and walked to the entrance of the cave.
"You care greatly for her, yes?" He asked over his shoulder, which was more of a rhetorical question. "Boris has you in testing area. You are strong, in battle but also heart" He explained turning around to Demitri. "Boris admire courage and understand your fear for The Silent One. She is family... We are all family" Boris said, looking at Griffon and Kat.
He cracked his knuckles.
"Boris will not abandon family. You, Brave One, will accompany Boris into woods to find your sister" He announced, stepping to him. "We will find her and bring her home safely" Boris added, placing his large hand on his shoulder.
He looked to Kat seriously.
"Feline, you and Barky should wait here until we return. Watch after cave and Little One sleeping near fire. Boris and Brave Demtiri will not daddle" He exclaimed with a wink.

Demitri glared at Griffon, but took Kat's words seriously. "Thank you, Kat. Send my regaurds to Kate as well." He smiled at Boris. "Thank you my friend. I appreciate it." It was then he went over to Ellie. He knew she wasn't asleep, no matter how much she pretended. "Are you all right, Ellie?"
Rain wearily led Chris up to a small, cold, damp, but secluded, cave. She had dragged him through the river, as to mask his scent. Or at least she hoped. She really was unsure of what to do, but something in the back of her mind was slowly begining to take over. It seemed to be connected to the more wolfish part of her mind. She was begining to see, hear, and smell things in a completely new way. She realized that Chris needed sleep, food, and heat. So, she began to build a fire. Surprisingly, it didn't take her too long to figure it out. Then, after making sure Chris would not move unless his life was in danger, she went out, hunting.

"What do you want?" she mumbled sullenly. She didn't want to disentangleher arms away from the rest of her body in order to sign the words.
However, it was clear that Ellie had missed the mark with volume when Demitri had to lean in closer to hear her, so she tried again. "What do you want!" she yelled, and instantly regretted it when he stumbled backwards, and the others in the cave winced in pain.
She immediately released her grip on her ledge and climbed up on top of it, situating herself defensively in the corner. Ellie cowered there for some time before creeping out again. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she signed. "What are you going to do with me? Don't kick me out! I promise I'll be good..."
How horrible would it be to not only be in the outside world, but be there with no one to help her?

"This sister, she is in no danger, Comrade" Boris explained, patting Demitri on the back. Kat resisted the urge to smile when Demitri gave the big guy a look from the large thwack on the back and making him stumble some. Though he quickly gathered himself and looked up at him again. Boris frowned some and walked to the mouth of the cave before he continued, "You care greatly for her, yes? Boris has you in testing area. You are strong, in battle but also heart. Boris admire courage and understand your fear for The Silent One. She is family... We are all family"
Psh, we’re one messed up family, “Sh,” Kat whispered to Kate, turning her head slightly as if Kate were standing just off to her left. It was no wonder the humans at the lab thought she was crazy with her talking to the voice in her head as if she were physically there. It was a bad habit, but one she couldn’t break.
"Boris will not abandon family. You, Brave One, will accompany Boris into woods to find your sister" He announced, stepping towards Demitri . "We will find her and bring her home safely" Boris then turned his attention fully on to her and she cocked her head to the side in a very cat like manor "Feline, you and Barky should wait here until we return. Watch after cave and Little One sleeping near fire. Boris and Brave Demtiri will not daddle" Kat’s eyes flashed to Kate bright yellow for an instant when he was speaking in a semi commanding voice, but Kat pushed her back and smiled up at him and nodded.
Demitri glared at Griffon, then looked to Kat and spoke, his words slow and coming from his heart. "Thank you, Kat. Send my regards to Kate as well." He smiled at Boris. "Thank you my friend. I appreciate it." It was then he went over to Ellie. Kat could hear her breathing and knew she wasn’t sleeping and turned to Griffon while he spoke to little Ellie.
“One of us should stay here. Do you care to keep watch and Kate, Boris, Demitri and I will run out and find Rain. Hopefully on the run back Kate will be able to catch something to eat.” Like hell. Why do we have to feed them? Kat looked off over Griffon’s should before she spoke again, directing her words at Kate. “Stop being such a bitch and help.” The next instant there was a loud shrill screech that were supposed to be words, but the pain ripping at her ear drums let the meaning of the words fade away. Kat quickly covered her ears and an moment later he eyes were bright yellow and her claws extended, a hiss ripping from her throat as Kate glared over at Ellie for the pain. Before the full transformation happened Kat pushed Kate back again and shook her head. Ellie was already in a corner. Biting her lip she looked at Griffon, “Sorry. She’s hard to keep back when she gets pissed. “

"Remind Boris never to upset this one called Kate" He mumbled to Griffon, making his way towards Ellie and Demtiri.
He waved his hands to catch Ellie's attention and began signing, making sure he got every word right.
"It's okay. Just a mistake. All is well, Little One" He signed to the girl.
He extended his hand to her, offering to help her step down from her defensive perch. Boris nodded, showing her everything was okay.

Just as soon as the plans were decided, Kat approached him, with a new plan: she was going to accompany Boris and Demitri to find the lost girl. Griffon tensed a little. This plan left him uneasy. "I'm not sure if that's a good idea. If we split up this much, who knows what could happen." He glanced back into the at the young one, who still hiddled closely to herself.. "But, then again, you may be in for more of a fight than I." He nodded once. "You better go, I think they've stopped moving." He pointed over the river. "That way."
On his way back to the cave, Griffon was alaramed by the sudden outburst in the cave. His ears started to ring, and he clutched at them before jumping into a ready stance, but relaxed when he saw it was just Ellie. Looking at Kat, he saw her slip quickly into Kate and back. Boris mumbled a comment about this, and Griffon chuckled a little to himself. "Good luck with herm big guy. You'll need it."
Griffon strode into the cave, squatting down opposite Ellie. Boris had already been in to comfort her, but she still seemed frightened. He looked across at her and tried to think what to say, he remembered she couldn't hear him. An idea came to him, and he stuck his finger to the dirt in front of him, and began to wr ite his message.
Everything okay. Others going to find lost girll, Rain. Will be back shortly. Maybe with food.
Griffon lifted his finger to think before continuing.
Don't worry. I'm here to protect you.
He lloked up then to smile, to show he meant it.

"Food?" she signed, eyes widening in anticipation. Finally, something to quiet her quarrelsome stomach! If they were going to feed her, then clearly they weren't going to kick her out of the cave! And the others seemed confident enough leaving the cave. Maybe it was safe out there for them! Maybe they could find a way not to be hurt by anything out there!
Then she had an idea. "Can I help get food? I can be a good hunter! I can be quick, and silent. It's not even going to know what hit it! Can I hunt? Please? Please? Please? I can even go find the other girl! Please?" Ellie dismounted her ledge and started leapig around Griffon eagerly, accidentally scuffing up the words he'd written in the process. Now that she'd warmed to the idea, hunting sounded like so much fun!
And there would even be more people, by the end of it! If there was anyhing to take to heart from her knowledgeable writers, (aside from the dangers you could face, of course, but Ellie now remembered that almost no oe died from tthose, scary as they were,) it was that the more people there were, the better off they all were. It was perfect!

The dark blond fur erupted over her body, her feet popping and twisting and turning into the cat like paws, and a long tail forced itself from her spinal cord and fire growing on that just as fast as it grew. Finally her ears began to twist and rotate and grow so that they were on the top of her head again, her eyes flashing to a bright yellow and her fangs returning and her claws growing out. Once the change was over Kate walked over to the mouth of the cave and looked out and took a deep breath in. "So the Dog was right," she mumbled ans smiled. Glancing back she looked at the small group. "So, I think that that 2 fastest should go. And we should leave the boulder of a man here to watch his 'little one'. He'll only alert them that we are coming and I can already smell more blood-hounds approaching Rain the the kid who smells like poison." Food. Kate rolled her eyes and continued again, "And as Kat said, I'll bring back food. This good with everyone? Because we don't have much time to argue and I-" Just stop there Kate! Kat raised her voice making Kate shut up. "Just, lets go. Demitri looks like he is going to have a stroke and someone make sure the screechy one keeps quiet"

The Blood Hounds rushed her. She lept nimbly on top of one's head, and sumorsaulted backwards. Three of the hounds crashed together with a bang and fell. It wouldn't keep them down for long. As Rain hit the ground she swayed slightly. This wasn't good. She was losing control, and once the Hounds were gone...the only one left was Chris. She had to keep control, at all costs.
Demitri stood staring out of the cave, waiting. He was growing impatient with the others. He needed to find his sister. Why would she leave on her own? It didn't make any sense. Unless she was in solitary confinement or testing, she had always stayed by his side. So what had made her leave now? The boy who's scent reeked with poison? That didn't make any sense either.
Demitri's lip curled into an audible snarl as he heard the blood hounds approach his sister. He couldn't wait any longer. He took off into the forrest, not waiting for the others.

Only a few minuets later Kate and Demitri launched themselves into the middle of the fray that had reached Rain and some other Mutant boy. Poison. Blood. He's, shit. I think that's Cody... Caleb... Something with a C "Kat. Do you-" Kate did a back flip just out of the range of a blood-hound and pivoted and raked her claws down the face of the other she landed by "-really think that's important right now?" Kate laughed when the blood-hound screamed in pain and jumped for her. Easily dancing out of the way Kate dove for the next hound.

"Rain ... you just ..." Rain didn't bother to listen to what her brother had to say. Instead, she launched herself into the cave, leaping on the back of one of the Hounds and tearing into the base of his neck. The beast wailed, and ran headlong into one of its comrades. The other five slowly advanced on Rain, who was backing up slowly, on all fours ...

'' My turn'' He said and smiled a weak smile. The blood-hound got closer and open his mouth and showed his teeths. Chris saw his chance and spitted blood into the hounds mouth. At first the hound stopped. Then he fell to the ground and started to throw up. First just what he had eaten then blood. It was flinching and screaming. Chris moved on, he grabbed the knife that he had got from the guard he killed earlier. He cut himself in the arm to get blood on it. Then he ran and stabbed another blood-hound in the back.
'' Rain!'' He called, hoping she wasn't dead. The blood-hound he had stabbed fell to the ground and died shortly after. He smiled and didn't pay attention to the blood-hound on his right. It grabbed him and threw him at the wall. Chris heard his bone crack. He gasped for air and tried to get up. The blood-hound stopmed him in his stumach and Chris caughed up blood. He tried to stab the blood-hound with the bloody knife but he couldn't move....

"We're in trouble..." Ellie signed to the Griffon and the bear man. She started backing away slowly, but ended up tripping over a rock behind her with a small squeak. That did it; it was certainly enough to annoy the hounds, butnot nearly what it would take to stop them. Besides, she didn't want to scream that loud unless she had too. It would hurt her friends as much as the bloodhounds.
A pair of bloodhounds leapt at her, teeth barred. Ellie scrambled to her feet and jumped backwards, but not before getting a slash in the arm. She held it at her side as the hounds tried to circle around her, looking for another opening. As one pounced again, Ellie jumped at it at the same time. Her feet found head, and from there she pushed off to leap all the way to the ledge she'd been sitting on earlier.
She cradled her arm, licking it between small growls at the hounds from her ledge.

Leaping into the cave, Griffon stood on his haunches, ready for anything. What he saw surprised him: Ellie, a wound on her arm already, cornered by the beasts. Despite himself, Griffon let a fierce growl ripple from his throat that reverberated through the cave. The hounds got the message and turned.
"Stay away from her!"
With yet another growl, he pounced at the nearest one, sinking his claws into it's chest and hanging on tight. He leaned down and and chomped down on the first thing to come in reach. Griffon's teeth pierce through fur into flesh, a rush of warm filling it quickly. The beast howled in pain. Griffon leaped off the beast, letting the blood from it's wounds flow free. The strength of the kick knocked the Bloodhoun back into another one.
Griffon stood back and spat what blood still remained in his mouth onto the floor. Such foul tastes. Matches them perfectly. Their attention fully on him, the others were leaping over their fallen comrade, focused on taking him down. Griffon cast his eyes around, then turned back in the direction of the opening of the cave. "Boris! Get in here! I need help! Ellie needs!" He whipped around once again, facing the ever-closer beings. "Alright, who's next?!"

Kate smirked and turned back to the two bloodhounds approaching her. By her count there were five left. Two in front of her, one engaged with Demitiri and two after Rain and the other boy. Kate cocked her head to the side eying the hounds. They both roared and snarled at her and she returned a ferocious hiss. The two lunged for her and Kate pushed herself off the ground, gracefully flipping over their heads. One went right under her, the other was able to reach up and rake their claws along her entire left side. Kate could hear Kat scream in pain in her head, but for now Kate had to fight. Bringing her left arm close to her body to slow the bleeding, Kate landed and was after the Mutt that laid her side open. Landing on the beasts back, she carefully moved to avoid its flailing arms and the other jumped for her. Rolling out of the way at the last moment, the hound drove his teeth and claws into the back of its companion.
Kate stumbled back and kept her left arm pressed tightly against her side. Her breathing was becoming labored and the pain was slowly creeping over her body. Kate. We may be in trouble. "Yeah, I got that Kat, thanks." Hissing Kate rushed after the hound that just killed its pack-mate and was rushing for Demitiri. Just before the best reached him Kate launched herself at it, both arms reaching out. Landing on its back, she dug her claws deep into its neck, clawing and ripping at everything and anything her claws could touch. The beast finally fell and Kate fell with the beast, her blood mixing with the hounds blood and fur.

But Griffon needed her help, didn't he? Ellie groaned, partly from the pain and partly from trying to decide what she should do. Stay, or help? Stay, or help? Stay, or...
What was she getting into? Ellie hopped off the ledge, landing softly behind the pack. She glanced around, turning in half circles to make sure there was nothing else around her. Then she took a few steps closer to the fight, and leapt at the bloodhound closest to the back. She caught it with a flying kick to the side of the head, and was rather sure that she'd made it achieve an angle it wasn' quite supposed to twist at. She kicked another in the side and rolled away as a few others tried to retaliate. When she'd regained her feet, she found herself cornered by another two.
She backed closer to the wall, and jumped again when the bloodhounds charged, this time ending up right next to Griffon. There, she scooted closer to him and watched the hounds warily. "Get me out of here," she whispered, almost inaudibly.

'' T...Thanks...'' He coughed and closed his eyes. He didn't want her to have to carry him but he had no more power left. The legs felt like they were made of stone. He looked at the others that still was in the cave. He didn't feel bad for leaving them, after all he did them a huge favor. The hounds would surely follow him thanks to his ''smelling'' blood. But he did feel sorry for dragging Rain with him. And that she couldn't talk would maby be a problem in the future. If they would have a future. Or if they would just be gunned down or if Rain found out that without the so called antidote Chris infected blood would take a turn for the worse. The blood would evolve to pure acid. So if he started to bleed he would melt everything. Well not Rain... At least he hoped so. Well for now his blood was not that dangerous.. His eyes were still closed and he was lost in his toughts. But he was still on his guard, if a blood-hound would appear he would try to help Rain.
