Koseki Sowana's Story

"N-No. I'm sure it was just an accident. I can control them just fine.... well.. mostly." Koseki chuckled nervously.

Ed comes in the attic and is exhausted. He leers at Koseki and shakes his fist to show him he wants to beat him up for this. Koseki noticed and starts sweating.

"R-Right. Let's just buy you a new TV set." Koseki said.

"Or build you one." Calvin smiled while adjusting his glasses.

"Good luck," said Alex. "Buying it, well, that's out of the question, you're orphans and have no money," said Alex. "And building it... you're orphans. You don't have the parts OR the money."

Alex turns and gives Ed a death glare.

"And as for YOU," said Alex. "If I hear even a HINT of you calling me old escape your mouth ONE MORE TIME, you're going to BEG for me to throw you through the floor. Capeesh?"

"Y-Y-YES.. Sorry!!" Ed chuckled nervously, then thinks about revenge on Koseki later on, "I swear to god, I'll get you for this, shrimp!"

"Look, whatever you do, make it fast," said Alex. "I'm not what you'd call a patient fellow."

Alex heads back downstairs.

"...Or maybe I could repair it...." Calvin smirks while scratching his chin, "Ko? If you would be so kind to direct me to his house?"

"Why?"

"You'll see."

"Okay, but... I'm responsible for the damage..."

"Oh, don't be so hard on yourself. Mistakes happen all the time. Now take me with you. I want to show you something cool."

Koseki, reluctant as he may be, let Calvin join him and he leads his new friend outside the orphanage and go to Alex's house.

Alex heads back home and is just about to lock up behind him... when he realizes Koseki and Calvin followed him. He's just now starting to get into the forgetfulness stage of drunkenness.

"Oh hey," said Alex. "TV's back there. What's left of it, anyway."

The TV is in several broken, sparking parts that children probably should go nowhere near.

"Alex?" Koseki raises his eyebrow, "You don't look so good."

"Koseki?" Calvin called him as he is unable to fix the broken tv with all the sparks flying about, "I can't touch this... Oh, it's no use. It's probably unfixable right now."

"Oh, hang on. I got this~" Koseki places his hand on the broken tv set and absorbs the sparks. Calvin look surprised that Koseki has the power to store electricity... Or better yet, have the powers of electricity.

"HOW..?! THAT'S...."

"Pretty cool, huh?"

"Yeah.. Right." Calvin coughed as he calmed down, "I suppose I can start working on this. This will only take a moment." He approached the tv set and took out his tools to repair the TV set. This will take a few minutes.

"As I was saying..." Koseki looks at Alex with concern, "You really don't look so good... Would you mind if you lay off the beers from now on?"

"You keep your electric break-TV powers, I keep my booze," said Alex, taking another swig.

"I would ask Thurston about you. Maybe he knows what happened." Koseki frowned.

"Need to tweak it there.... okay..... and..." *snap* Calvin groaned, "No.. that's not it... wait." He looks behind, "Who is Thurston?"

"I don't know, his on-and-off roommate? I don't know him too well."

"Hmm.. okay..." Calvin is working on the kinks, "Let's see here...." He's finishing up the set, and he smiled about it. "Eureka! I'm done!"

"Really?!"

Koseki checks on the TV set. Calvin successfully repaired the TV set for Alex. It won't be done until Koseki plugs it in the socket while Calvin turns it on.

"Issac Newton's apples!" Calvin cried with glee, "It worked! Mr. Alex, your TV set is repaired."

"You can fix TV sets?!" Koseki was shocked, "Man.. you're really good with technology."

"Thanks~ I learned that from my dad."

"Your... dad?"

"Well.. we'll talk about it later. Let's see Mr. Alex's reaction."

"Great, thanks, you can go home," said Alex, slumping down on the couch. "And don't ask Thurston anything. Guy's a straight dick."

"Glad to be of some service!" Calvin smiled, "If you need anything else, you know who to call."

Koseki stood there and looked at Alex's condition. "Maybe we should leave him alone. He had a bad day I suppose." He said, and he felt sorry for Alex.

"You sure?"

"Yeah. He looks so miserable. The last time I saw him he was usually grumpy, and yet he was mostly positive. Now look at him..."

"Hmm... Well, I'll see you back home then."

Calvin leaves Alex's home, leaving the worried Koseki behind to show his pity for hiss mentor. In fact, Koseki doesn't like to see his mentor feel like crap.

"You know," said Alex, turning on his TV. "When someone tells you to go home, and then you think you should leave him alone, you usually leave that person alone."

""Sorry. I'll just go then..." Koseki walks out of Alex's home and heads back to the orphanage.

"Let me check, lad!" Demoman looks through the cabinets until he finds a frying pan he likes. He takes on out and gives it to Soldier, "Here ya go, Doe! Aye, that sort of rhymed, right? Hah hah hah!"

Calvin and Koseki returns to the orphanage and noticed that Haeru is giving Hana a tour. The last place they go in the orphanage is the basement.

"Shoot! How could I forget?" Calvin shakes his head, "I should give you a tour to--"

"Wait, where is Hana going?" asked Koseki.

"Oh, I guess Haeru is taking her to the basement. That's where we keep our things when we have no room to put in our bedroom."

"You know, I have a strange feeling that this is more like deja vu..." Koseki commented, "Because... you'll find something new in the basement."

In the basement, Haeru checks if there's anything interesting for Hana to see. But she stays behind. She doesn't want to explore the basement because there might be spiders crawling on the ground.

"Y-You go ahead." Haeru gulped, "I'll just stay here..."

"Why?" Hana asked.

"I was going to show you the basement... but... I changed my mind. You go ahead without me. Explore. Just don't touch anything..."

"If you say so."

Hana looks pretty concerned about Haeru's behavior. It's almost as if she is too scared to check it out. Hana pulls out the spellbook that gave her and Koseki the powers of electricity and nature and store it in. But she noticed something else. She sees an angry looking book that is gagged with a bomb.

"Oooh..." Hana picks it up and blows the dust away, "This is a very old book... What is it?"

"DON'T TOUCH THAT!!!" Haeru screamed so loud that Hana was startled and dropped the book, "...Sorry... You shouldn't do that... That book belonged to the Soldier."

"Well.. can I take a peek?" Hana asked.

"Yes-- but don't read out loud..."

"..." Hana opened the angry book and noticed the words. "What is this...?" Then she reads one spell from the book.

"Beebus Barras...bus Bombi... nomicon?"

.......

"Nothing happened. Haeru, this book must be old and... smells like gunpow--"

"EEEEEE.....!!" Haeru covers in fear... then she stopped cowering and looks at Hana, "...Nothing happened...? Oh.. I thought for a moment this orphanage would explode. Please don't read that anymore, okay?"

"Sure! I mean, at least we're alive and well." Hana giggled.

"For now... I can't imagine where that spell goes."

Thanks to Hana's complete inability to listen to people, a VERY loud explosion can be heard somewhere nearby.

"HAH HAH HAH!! Somebody's having a blast out there!" Demoman laughed out loud.

If Hana had reasoning skills beyond a typical 9-year-old or wasn't a complete sociopath, she might make a connection between reading a spell out loud from the Bombinomicon, which according to Haeru makes things explode, and the explosion she just heard. She probably doesn't care, though, since she ignored Haeru telling her not to read a spell out loud.

...Or she is unaware of his death.

"Mr. Degroot! What was that?!" Calvin runs up to the Demoman with Calvin.

"One of our neighbors just want to have fun with the fireworks, lad!" Then the Demoman realized something, "WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!! Fireworks ain't allowed in Solum!!! OH NAY!!!" He turns to Soldier, "Hold up on the breakfast, lad. I smell trouble!"

"Huh?" Koseki tilts his head as the Demoman runs off.

"Uh oh..." Calvin commented.

As the Demoman arrives in the basement, he sees Hana meddling with a bomb while Haeru looks at Hana worryingly. "The Bombinomicon!! PUT THAT BOOK DOWN, LASSIE!"

"EEEK!" Hana drops the book, then looks intimidated by the Demoman's glare, "I can explain! I just.. read a few words and then--"

"There was an explosion out there, lassie, and I know for a fact that fireworks are illegal in Solum. But not bombs or dynamite. Not sure why-.... BUT STILL! YOU SHOULDN'T TOUCH THE DREADED BOMBINOMICON!!"

"That's what it's called?! I didn't know!" Hana cowers herself in fear, "Don't hurt me, please! I didn't mean to do that!"

"And why can't ye wee ones just stay out of 'ta basement?! If you want somethin' from here, you bettah talk to me first." Hana and Haeru looked down and felt ashamed of themselves. The Demoman feel their pity and didn't mean to scare them. "Aye... I'm sorry I scared ya. Look, if I give you somethin' from the basement, will ya promise not to come here anymore?"

"Promise, sir..." Hana and Haeru said at the same time.

"That's what I like 'ta hear! Anyway, you're lucky that the evil wizard Merasmus didn't see you two messing with the Bombinomicon."

"Merasmus?" Hana tilted her head in curiousity.

"Aye, he's a wizard who... bah.. I s'hant explain it. Just let me give you something safe..." Demoman looks through the cardboard boxes and sees something fluffy, "Aye! This will work." He hands Hana a Scottish patterned pillow, but it has a pink hue all over. Yet it feels... weird.

"It's a... pillow."

"Pillows are safe for all ages! At least it doesn't explode. Hah hah hah! Now, off with ya kids!" The Demoman escorts Hana and Haeru out of the basement.

"Ah, that'll about do it~" And so Soldier began frying the batter onto each piece of bread, making proper French toast (wow, he's gotten good). After making about 20 or so slices, he hears the screams from downstairs - something about a book? "Kids, you better not be reading books down there! Don't you know that's a harmful addiction?"

"Wait... Reading is harmful?" Koseki is confused, then looked at Hana, "Hana, what are you doing in the basement? ...And what's with the pillow?"

"Well I got two things to tell ya and ask ya, Soldier." Demoman points his finger at him, "ONE! Those kids almost cause chaos with the Bombinomicon, so I stopped them from reading the cursed book. TWO! Give me a me why you had to bring this damn book to the orphanage?!"
