Koseki Sowana's Story

Months later after their grandparents pass away, the two children named the Sowana siblings arrive on foot while carrying their belongings from their grandparents' home. Their names are Koseki Sowana and Hana Sowana. But what makes them different than other children? Koseki and Hana have magical entities within them. Koseki controls the power of electricity while his sister Hana controls the power of nature.

Anyway, upon their arrival in the orphanage, both children look upset about what happened recently. They look around in the orphanage and... why is everything covered in planks and bandages?

"This place looks like a dump. I don't like it already." Koseki said as he crossed his arms in disapproval. The place back at our grandparents was better than this."

"I find it funny." Hana pointed, "You used to say that about going back to your old home. Now you wanted to go back to our grandparents' home."

"S-So?! I mean... I don't have problems with new things, right..?"

"ZZZZZZZZZZZZ" This might be the sound of a very drunk caretaker. One-eyed at that though, "Zzz.....I'll gie ye fur thes ye damn wizard... Zzzz.... ....Ah will make ye rue th' day 'at ye stole mah yak wi' yer damn magic...."

"Is he okay?" Hana pokes the drunk caretaker, "Hello...?"

"Hey, you two are new here, right?" A nerdy green-haired kid spoke, "Well, you two seem to be strange... maybe it's the haircut?"

"HEY! My hair is not strange!" Yelled Koseki, "...Right?"

"Just sayin' kid. I don't want to be mean or anythin'. Anyway, welcome to the orphanage new friends! I'm sure you might like it here."

"Umm... yeah..."

"Why the long face, chums?"

"N-Nothing.. Nothing that makes you feel concerned about it..."

Just then, entering the orphanage was a man in a dusty red battle jacket, army boots, and a helmet seemingly obscuring his eyes. "DEMOMAN! We have to cook...for the back-to-school brunch at the University tomorrow!"

Koseki and Hana yelped at the same time as they saw a loud-mouthed red guy in front of them. But the Demoman is still sleeping. Calvin calmed Koseki and Hana down with a chuckle, with a result of the siblings raised their eyebrows on him and the Soldier.

"Do not fret! It's just one of the caretakers just like the Scottish sleeper." Calvin remarked.

"ZZZZZZZZZZzzzz......" The Demoman is still sleeping. It must be from that hangover he had recently.

"..." Soldier had to approach this just right - only the right way will wake up his partner. So he walked up to him...and blew a trumpet right into his ear! "Get your ass up, Demoman!! We're already behind schedule!"

"AAAHHH!! I'M AWAKE!!!!" Demoman falls on the ground and gets up, "Ye almost blaw mah eardrums up, ye moron! dornt dae 'at again!"

Demoman is getting himself ready.

"Alright! Let's get going!"

"Anyway, follow me to the upstairs now. I hope your roommates won't mind sharing the same room with you." Calvin leads Koseki and Hana to the attic where there are a couple of beds available, "Now, I hope you won't mind having them around because---"

As Calvin opened the door, a bucket of dirt and worms fall on Calvin. Koseki and Hana scream at Calvin's misfortune as somebody is laughing at him. Enter Ed Monarch, the husky bully.

"Man, I got you good yet again, nerd!" Ed laughed, "Oh man, you are so easy to prank on."

"THAT"S NOT FUNNY, ED!" Calvin screamed, "Jeez!!"

Koseki snickered at Calvin, but Ed approached both Koseki and Hana with a little glare on his face. "Well, well, well... We got two fresh meats in the house."

"That wasn't nice of you to treat Calvin like tha--" Hana gets pushed by Ed, "OW!"

"Says who, shrimp?!"

"Hey, leave my sister alone, you big jerk!" Koseki pushes Ed away from Hana, "Why don't you pick on someone your own size?"

"Hah! You wish. This orphanage is my house! I'm the big boss around here and if you got a problem with that, why not talk to the complaints department!" Ed shows his big fist, "Right here!"

"Oh yeah?! SO'S THIS!!!!" Koseki raises his fist upward, but accidently let out an electric orb out of his hand, which causes the orb to go through the roof. ".....Uh..."

"...." Ed shakes his head, "No way. The orphanage was fixed before... Nah, I must be crazy. Anyway, you're in my house, punk! I don't care what Doe says, this is now my territory! You're gonna address me as your boss 'Ed Monarch.'"

"...Grr.. Fine." Koseki groaned.

"Are you done shouting?" A timid little girl named Haeru Trinburg approaches Ed with a frown on her face, "Your screaming still gives me the chills..."

"Hey, I can't let out a big voice like that, Haeru? Hah! You're such a killjoy. Anyway, I'm gonna go sneak over to that fridge and get a bite to eat. Don't do anything stupid while I'm around, you got that?!"

Calvin, Koseki, Hana, and Haeru gulped and just stood there. Ed walked out of the bedroom attic and headed to the kitchen.

"What a jerk..." Hana commented, "Are you okay, brother?"

"...Yeah.. I guess.. Sorry about your roof guys." Koseki chuckled nervously.

"Err, don't worry about it." Calvin shrugs, "I believe Travish and Jane will most likely get the blame most of the time.

"I apologize if I did not introduce myself.. I'm shy towards new people... My name is... H-Haeru Trinburg..." Haeru steadily shakes Hana's hand, "P-Please to meet you... err..."

"Koseki Sowana and Hana Sowana." Koseki introduced. "We're siblings."

"R-Right.. siblings... Heh heh...."

A very angry Koopa pounds on the orphanage door.

Ed comes out of the kitchen with a turkey leg, but called by the Demoman for a bit. "Get the door! I'm busy with somethin'!" The Demoman ordered the groaning Ed.

"Okay, okay..." Ed opens the door and sees Alex, "What do you want, old man?"

"Koseki Sowana," said Alex. "Call me old one more time and I will hurt you."

"Never heard of him." Ed narrowed his eyes on Alex, "If he's here in the orphanage, then describe him."

"Short, blonde hair, lightning-shaped bang," said Alex. "A whole lot skinnier than you."

"Oh sure, he's up-- YOURS, OLD MAN! I'm not even close to being fat! Get lost!" Ed slams the door in front of him and walks away.

Alex pushes the door right back open and looks a whole lot more pissed than usual.

A few seconds later, Ed goes flying straight through the ceiling, landing in the attic with a loud "THUD!"

A news reporter that looks he just stepped out of the 40s takes several snapshots of Alex.

"Legendary hero Alexander von Koopa beating up young orphans?" remarks the reporter. "WHAT A SCOOP!"

The news reporter follows Ed through the ceiling, followed by his now destroyed camera.

--- Before this all happened... ---

"So what are you two here for?" Calvin asked both Koseki and Hana. They were quite sad about someone who passed away, "...Oh.. I can tell that this isn't a good thing..."

"Of course it isn't..." Hana looked down, "You see, our grandparents passed away due to a heart attack..."

"At the same time..? Oh no..." Haeru is sad to hear that.

"That's impossible! At the same time? How?" Calvin asked more.

"I.. I don't know... I keep hearing them screaming about a shadow haunting them in their dreams..." Koseki explained, "When me and Sis went up to our grandparents... they were not moving. They were not breathing anymore..."

"A... shadow scared them to death?" Calvin ponders under his chin, "Hm.... nightmares that kills people... You know, I thought about Freddy Krueger killing children, but elders? Impossible."

"Don't you get it?! My grandpa and grandma are dead! It was an unfortunate event!" Koseki yelled.

"Okay! I get it! But it's unusual that nightmares can kill people. I mean... maybe it's just coincidence?"

"I had a nightmare once..." Haeru shivers, "Oh dear, it was scary..... I rather not say what is it.. you'll laugh..."

"Come on, Haeru! We've been through this before." Calvin pats her shoulder, but gets swatted away by her.

"I can't! It's too scary... I don't like spider dreams..."

"Not to mention rats... I hate those...." Hana shivers in fear, "icky..."

"Hey, you want to check out the rest of the orphanage? There's so many things to see!" Calvin asked Koseki and Hana.

"I don't know..." Koseki looks through the window to see his grandparents' house, "I rather live over there instead..."

"Oh, there you go again~" Hana holds Koseki's hand, "Being your little silly self again~"

"STOP CALLING ME THAT!" Koseki is mildly annoyed while Hana teasefully giggled.

---- And now we bring into the present ---

"Ooof..!!!" Ed rubs his head, "Ow... Hey, shrimp...!! I don't know what you did out there, but you got that old man angry."

"Old man angry?" Koseki asked.

"Yeah, some angry turtle barged in the orphanage looking for yo--"

Alex barges into the attic and throws Ed back down to the first floor.

"I WARNED YOU NOT TO CALL ME OLD!" said Alex.

Alex looks back up at Koseki.

"So," said Alex. "Would you care to inform me why my TV is now in pieces across my living room?"

"Alex, what are you talking about?" Koseki is confused.

Calvin and Haeru screamed and hide behind Koseki and Hana.

"An orb of electricity crashed through my ceiling and blew up my TV a few minutes ago," said Alex. "You're the only one who can shoot electricity that lives in Solum. Do the math."

"Hey, that wasn't my fault this time!" Koseki replied, "Ever since we moved in the orphanage, Ed immediately bullied me, my sister, and our new friends."

"Now wait just a minute!" Calvin goes in front of Alex, "How do you even know Koseki in the first place?"

"Him and his sister were kicked out by their grandparents for having weird powers," said Alex. "I tried to help them learn to control it, and evidently I failed."
