The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 7 authors
Legendary Surfer's Island is the most well known beach resort known to man kind, and only the filthy rich can afford to go, but luckily this year I was offered a job as a worker for The Pearl, the most luxurious hotel in the world which just so happens to be owned by the greatest surfer there is, that owns the beach.
--
After the dreadful three hour bus ride, Skye finally arrived on the Island. It was full of tourists walking around in the plaza, unfamiliar with her surroundings she walked around wondering where was this famous hotel. Feeling dumb after asking a random tourist, it was obviously that it was the hotel on the beach.
Skye grabbed her bag and carried her surf board to the hotel, once she got to the front office she found out that she wasn't the only new grom that was going to work there for this summer.
"So where will the employees be staying?" she asked the manager who was at the front office.
"There is a special place for employees, please follow me Skye." He said with a professional smile.
He lead her to the shake where all the young employees lived.
"Skye, just dial #1 if you got a problem and need assistance. And today just enjoy yourself and walk around the resort or do whatever you wish to do, since tomorrow is your first day of work." The manager said waving his hand as he headed out the door.
Skye was the first person to arrive before anyone else, so she got to choose her bed. Sure the shack was no where to be compared to the hotel, but it was a good start. She laid down on her bed taking a small nap, waiting for everyone else to arrive.
That leads us to now. He was looking at both the beach and the Hotel, with a few bags being carried behind him. the salty smell in the air, the soft whispers of laughter and talking that came from lower on the beach, and the beach. He was an okay surfer, but getting to surf these beaches would hopefully help him become better and even after that give him a good time. This summer was a summer he knew he was going to enjoy very much.
Getting to the front desk of the lobby and announcing that he was here to work, stating his name, and his job title, which was to be desk clerk, they led him to the small shack that would be the employee area. it may not be the best way to spend his time, but he really didn't hate it. he got to what he pretty much decided was his own bed and started unpacking, putting clothing away, setting up a few things for himself to make this place a little more livable. Hiroshima Hayate was already enjoying what would be the first day of a long summer
"this is not fair!" She yelled. Her things were being moved from her nice luxurious room to another because no employee was allowed to live off of site. "Daddy we live two feet from the Hotel, why do I have to live with them!" she said angrily as she walked with her stuff to her new, less amazing room, with other people she did not know. "I really don't want this!" she said as they entered the door. her summer was going to be down right boring with all this work to do.
It only took Gabe about an hour to reach the hotel, but she woke up late. Having to wake up early was a total bitch, so she simply didn't. Unfortunately after her phone buzzed off the table and into the metal garbage can, she was startled enough to have to get up. Since she was already so late, she ended up keeping the shirt she slept in on and just pulling on a pair of skinny jeans. The train ride was equally as horrible, anytime she had to sit still for more than twenty minutes was hell. Though being a maid wasn't going to be the most pleasant thing either. It was about then they she started to regret her decision.
Upon her arrival a man in a tie and suit greeted her, quickly briefing her on her duties and then taking her to where she was to stay. Maybe being a maid wasn't going to be all bad, she only worked in the mornings since that was when people were allowed to check out, and really all she had to do was make beds and restock the rooms. Other than that she was allowed to do whatever she wanted, as long as she carried around a special beeper in case they needed her, which she happily noted was waterproof so she could swim with it on.
Though she was also told that she was not supposed to use the hotel faculties, meaning the pools, diners, and such, but they were permitted to use the staff cafeteria. Finally they arrived at the shack, apparently she was the third one to arrive. Settling down on a bed, it was one nearest the wall, she threw her bag down on the floor and sat down on the bed. For a moment she wondered what would be a respectable time to stay in the room before heading towards the beach.
Taking her suit from her bag, she went in the bathroom to change and then slipped outside, going off to the beach.
Stepping up to the front desk He quietly said his name to avoid any prying eyes. "sorry i got here so lat it took a while to convince my father to let me get this job." he said following the manager to where the employees lived. "ahh not quite like how i grew up around but i guess if i'm going to work i better stay with the other employees." he stated stepping through the front door. Putting his bag on and empty bed he just kept looking around then started to unpack organizing while he went along looking out the window to the beach every now and then. "after i'm done here i think i might go surfing."
"Thanks." she added while passing the driver. The next thing she knew she stood on sandy ground...This was the definition of unfamiliar territory. Her boots sunk into the sand and she stood out like white on black. She'd taken this job out of sheer desperation. The small town she lived in back up North not only remained economically dead from the repression, but it also did not offer the exciting clients and nightlife of this interesting little Pearl...Of course, when Lana really thought about it. If a publisher did walk up to her...She probably wouldn't say anything. Lana got sick to her stomach nerves just thinking about it.
---
Tredding through the sand onto a tiny little path Lana lugged her backpack on her shoulders and made her way to the extravagant lobby...She had a funny feeling that this was too good to be true, and she was right. Upon telling the kind front clerk her identity she was guided to an employees quarters. A shack in the sun if you will. Tiny, quaint, and more than likely bubbling with stories to be told.
"Now if you don't mind, I'll be on my way." The clerk said and before Lana could whisper thanks he was gone.
---
Lana entered the home with caution hearing just little ounces of footsteps and creeks that made her worry that she'd run into someone right of the bat. With haste she made her way down a hall way claiming a modest room with a tiny desk she was sure she'd pen many-a novels at.
Her face grew big, and she got up and went to go greet everyone. Skye jumped off the bed and closed the door right after her.
Walking towards the living room of the shack she noticed that no one was there, nor in the kitchen.
Skye cried out.
"Hey is anyone here?" Her voiced echoed loudly around the corridors and through the walls.
She stood there waiting to see if anyone was there or not.
Skye all of a sudden remembered that she had a day off today, just like everyone else. Before she left the living room area she shout out one more time.
"I'm going to the beach to catch some waves, does anyone want to join me?" She yelled out hoping that people were in the shack, and not ghosts.
The sand felt great under his feet and the waves looked killer. "sweet nothing i enjoy more then surfing with these conditions." he said waxing his board like his old man taught him how to do. "all the better i get to surf with out being near any sharks." When he finished he sat for a second before heading out.
"i'll go with you" he said and nodded to her lightly. noticing the girl he had just answered. "My name is Hiroshima, you can call me Hiro if you want." he said and once again smiled lightly at her. getting to know the people was probably a good idea seeing as they would be both roomates and hopefully friends for the summer. He saw no reason to let a chance to meet someone slip out of the way.
He wondered if anyone else would join them in their escapade to the beach or if they would just meet others on the beach front.
------
Moving about Lana did start to unpack everything from home, taking out a photo frame and a family that looked to big for it, a few changes of clothes, and a moleskin...and she was done! Today had the potential to be very boring if she didn't do anything, she contemplated going out to the living room and at least greeting the lot of them and becoming acquainted. But then she thought of all the stupid things she might say;however, if she was going to be living with them she'd better at least get to know their names.
------
Ever so bravely Lana stepped outside her small door frame and headed out to the living room which was only a short excursion away. Everyone appeared to be rather friendly and the looks of things said that they were already becoming well acquainted, so she figured she'd best not take up to much of their dwindling daylight,
"Hello." She said softly forcing a mildly awkward smile, "I, um, heard you all talking and thought I'd just come see what all is going on. I'm Lana, it's nice to meet you."
Once Gabe changed into her suit she exited the shack, immediately regretting not bringing sunglasses. The sun was terrible, yet another reason she mostly chose to go out mostly at night, and the reason why she was almost as white as a ghost. She heard the girl yelling behind her and turned, arching an eyebrow at her before watching another boy appear and attempt a joke. Rolling her eyes, she managed to just step out of the way in time for him to past by her, announcing that he was going down to the beach. Another surfer apparently, since he was carrying a board. For a moment she debated bringing her own, but decided against it. The waves were okay today, but that meant a lot of people would be out and she didn't like amateurs messing her up. If she really wanted to, she would go out at night and surf.
She began heading towards the red headed boy, but as soon as she approached to say something he ran off towards the waves. Sort of rude, she thought before plopping down in the sand and crossing her legs underneath her. Well, she would just sit here then. At least until she got the energy to go back to the shack.
when she was all set she got into her bathing suit, got a towel, and grabbed her board. She went downstairs to see a group of people and almost paused on the stairs. she looked around, no where to be seen was her brother, which she would have settled right next to and just not talked at all, hoping no one would notice her. She disliked people with a passion. what if they didn't like her? are they mean? she hated just the thought of actually having to introducing herself.
hmph, well if she wanted to go out she had to pass them, and since they were in her way, she'd just go. "Excuse me!" she said rudely, pushing past everyone and going out the door with a slightly rude motion. the second she got out the door she didn't look back, her walk moved from a slow, angry walk, to a scared run every step she got away from the door. She hated people.
{OOC: gonna be out for a while, be back hopefully soon, i'll try and jump in when i get back, with both characters}
He also stared at the girl who had woken him up with this mentioning of surfing. "Sure, gimme a second." He jumped over the couch, and ran up the stairs to get changed. He unlocked his door, threw off his jacket, and got into some gear. Coming back down he grabbed his board. It was emblazoned with a large Finnish flag. Awesome.
"You said you were going surfing right?"
Then looking toward his sister Emma he set his board down and waved her over "hey sis this way wouldn't want you to get scared by the people behind you." He called out to her keeping his hand held out. "any way did you come to surf?" he asked with a smile while picking his board back up.
"Hi I'm Skye, it's nice to meet all of you." She said with a kind smile on her face.
For a moment she got distracted with all of these introductions, and completely forgot that she said she was heading to the beach.
Skye shook her head when she remembered, and immediately nodded.
"I mean yes, I'm going surfing. You're more then welcomed to join me, I'm heading to the beach right now." She said with an embarrassed look on her face.
Skye always seemed to get distracted easily, and day dream. She already had her bathing suite on underneath, she walked towards the wall where her surf board was leaning, and grabbed her beach bag.
"Ready to go?" She said all excited, as she slide on her shades.
Gabe frowned somewhat, hearing red's words. She hadn't meant to distract him or anything, and surprisingly she actually felt a tad bit bad about pulling him away from the water. Then again it seemed he was also talking to someone else, and she turned slightly to see another girl that had just exited the shack. Great, she thought, another bitch to deal with. It was quite possible that Gabe was the most negative person, and she really hated most females.
The boy approached her and held his hand out, offering to help her up. "No thanks, I'm comfy down here," she said quietly, shaking her head. Suddenly he was waving the other girl over, and calling her sis. Right then would have been a very good time to leave, but she didn't want to seem overly rude. This boy at least seemed to be trying to be nice. His next question caught her a bit off guard, and her eyes flitted back up to his face. "Not right now, I can't stand amateurs getting in the way," a small smile formed on her lips as she recalled her earlier thoughts. "It's much nicer to surf at night, in my opinion."
Gabe nodded slowly, taking in everything that the boy spewed out. By the end it almost seemed as if he was talking to himself, as she pretty much just stared at him slightly wide-eyed. "Uh," she managed to mumble, almost not even loud enough for him to hear. "I'm Gabe, it's nice to meet you." She managed to give a faint smile, sitting up a bit straighter and turned her body slightly towards him in order to look at him without staring at the sun.
"I don't blame your sister, I sort of hate people too," -which is sort of why I wanted to get out of here before she makes her way to us. Though she didn't say that, it wasn't worth it. "It's another reason I prefer to surf at night. And it's just so much more peaceful," for a moment she looked sort of far off, thinking about the many times she'd snuck out at night to go surfing. "But if you're busy," she gestured to the water. "Don't let me keep you."
But now... He had coworkers, and lots of them. They looked fun though. Ezra could still taste the salt on his lips and the waves looked so blue and inviting. Too many people. He would surf later, tonight. He smiled to himself. Surfing at night was always fun. His aqua eyes observed it and decided they look like carefree little children. Ezra felt a twinge of envy but pushed it aside.Β
One girl caught his eye though. She had bright blue hair. Cute. She was currently being talked to. Ezra smirked. She didn't look exactly social. Maybe he'd help her out. He glanced at himself. His pale abs gleamed with salt water and his black shorts were soaked as if he wet his pants. Ezra shook some water out of his hair with a hand and walked over casually from where he had been standing.Β
"Hey," he flashed a white smile at the girl sitting in the sand. She looked tiny, but then again, he was taller than everyone he met. He met the eyes of the redhead. "Hi, I'm Ezra," then he turned to the girl. "I'm kind of hungry if you'd like to join me for a snack. I know this great place, my treat,"
Gabe was still looking around for a distraction when her eyes met the blonde-haired boy that had looked as if he had just taken a swim, or was running in his bathing suit for a very long time. It wasn't a bad sight either, easy to be distracted by. Not that she would admit it, but her eyes did happen to travel down to his clearly muscled arms and abs, though when she realized it she quickly shook her head and refocused on the boy next to her. It was unlikely she'd ever see the blonde boy again, he probably was staying at the hotel and she'd be cleaning his room tomorrow morning. There goes that optimism, she thought sarcastically, watching John make air quotes with his fingers. "You're not bugging me, I just saw that you had been heading out to surf and it would suck if you missed some of those waves."
Her eyes returned to where the blonde boy was, and she was quite shocked to see that he was gone. Without realizing it she began to search for the boy, unable to find him as it was like he'd disappeared into thin air. She was startled out of her search when someone spoke, clearly a male but also not John. Eyes flitting upwards, they landed on the boy. Found him. The next bit was a blur, as she couldn't really believe that he was almost sort of asking her to go eat with him, which could very easily be mistaken for a date. "I guess," she muttered, giving John an apologetic look and promising herself that she would make it up to him later. Standing, she was momentarily glad that she had remembered to throw on a pair of black skinny jeans and a thin white shirt over her suit. "By the way, I'm Gabe."
After he exited the barrel John forced a wipe out. "whew!! now that is a rush." he said to himself remounting his board then lied there and stared up to the sky 'all that time i surfed and i never even tried to surf the barrel i never knew what i was missing.' he thought kicking lightly in the water. After a while he went back to shore and just sat in the lied in the sand under the shade of a coconut tree before practically falling a sleep.
Valdimar turned, spinning in a slow-motion movement like he was Neo in the matrix. He didn't understand that movie very well, but it was it was still awesome. He briefly locked eyes with the girl, flashing a quick smile until he saw who she was with. Probably two of the best looking beach-bums he had ever laid eyes on. This was getting interesting.
Not as interesting as his momentum, as he continued to spin and resumed running for the shoreline.

As a twist, since I see there isn't one, I was thinking of making him a rather 'terrible' surfer, though he struggles to learn how to. Is this alright?
Edit: Actually, better yet, how about he's just an Easy-going, Energetic Janitor/Cleaner? You know, he cleans out the pool and picks up trash along the beach. Would that be fine? I wanted to change up how I do my characters typically.
Sounds good! Thanks for taking an interest. Unless you want to be a life guard?
