Hitman Reborn: Vongola XII

0 INK

The vongola has found their 12th boss, along with the guardians. Now they'll have to face trouble.. far worse than the previous Vongolas did...

2,031 readers have visited Hitman Reborn: Vongola XII since xCrossX21 created it.

Introduction

Tsunayoshi Sawada (aka Tsuna), who was the 10th boss of the Vongola family, he stated that in a few years, a new generation of the Vongola family will far surprass him and his guardians. So far none of the new generations had been able to show such progress. However, it's now time to search for the 12th boss... Will the 12th and his guardians be the ones who surpasses the 10th?

The new vongola family had been training, each paired up with an arcobaleno. However, none of them have worked together... or have met each other. At least until Laney showed up, asking for help. Someone went back into the past, stealing all the box weapons. So far nobody is sure what he's up to. The vongolas met for the first time.. and despite the awkwardness, they had to travel back into the past in order to stop him. However, by the time they arrive 20 years into the past, their enemy is gone with the box weapons... but he couldnt get his hands on all of them just yet.. Instead he left behind an organization of assassins, who's trying to get rid of the Vongolas.
Reborn (from the past) thinks this is a great opportunity to train them and help them with the box weapons. Will the new guardians be able to accept each other.. and their boss? Will the new Vongola boss be able to lead them? Most of all, would they be able to work together?

The Sun Flame is bright yellow and has the power of Activation, meaning it can provide energy and act as healing or a energy boost.

Thunder- Does not only take the lighting, but also the damage to the family, like a lightning rod. That is the role of the Thunder Guardian. The Lighting Flame is lime-green and the flames can solidify and carry properties of electricity.

Storm- Defeat the enemy with a relentless stream of attacks that never falters. Always at the center of an attack, the furious storm that never rests.
Color: red

Rain- Squaring the accounts of Battle; that settles conflicts and washes everything away. The blue color of the Rain Flame has the power of tranquillity.

Mist- Creating something from nothing and nothing from something; thus bewildering the enemy rendering the family’s true form intangible with visions of deceit. That is the role of the mist guardian. The Mist Flame has an indigo colour and the power of solidification or construction.

"Oi Takeshi." Devon said shooting five bullets in a row. Takeshi's head snapped up, and jumped up into the sky, dodging the bullets in a nick of time. He was breathing harshly, eyeing Devon for his next moves. They had been training for 4 hours straight, nit even a second of rest. "Not yet." was all Devon said as he continued to shoot. Using his flames, Takeshi dodged all of them, but lost his sight on Devon, who appeared behind him, kicking him down onto the ground.
"Hmph... you improved from last time, but not enough." the arcobaleno said crossing his arms as he landed right by his head. The flame on Takeshi's head subsided as he set up. "AHH my body aches all over!! I'm tired." he complained, follow by a loud growl from his stomach. "And I'm hungry too..." Devon waved a finger saying, "Tsk, tsk, you still lack the skills." he said before his stomach growled as well. "But a nice lunch break would help." he added smiling.
"That's because you're hungry!!!!" Takeshi yelled. He got up, with a sigh, and started to head home, with Devon sitting on his shoulders.

Laney shivered almost as if being bombarded with a chilling breeze. Time travel had been proclaimed impossible, and yet here she was, years before her time. She stepped from the shrine, flickering her gaze around at the surrounding greenery. She knew this part of the forest well, but it had still changed much from her time. The trees here weren't burnt and shriveled and the grass was a healthy green instead of the revolting brown hue it had taken on. A light frown on her lips, the blonde began down the road in the direction of the new Sky Guardian's house. She had some idea of where they lived because of plans the Vongola technicians had given her before leaving. However, she didn't know which exact house he lived in. Shaking off the irritated knowledge that it could potentially take her all day to find him, she continued onwards.

The arcobaleno tucked her magenta pacifier under her shirt as she strolled. She doubted she'd make any findings during this lonesome day. It was along the way, however, when it happened. Laney was headed down one of the streets when she spotted a boy (probably around what age she appeared), trudging home with a small child sitting on his shoulder. From her experience, it was obvious that this child was an arcobaleno. She didn't even have to give it a second thought. However, she continued forwards with her eyes trained forwards, just to the right of the boy's face. Only when she brushed past him did her gaze flash over to his face momentarily. That face. Those eyes. The blonde didn't stop as she continued forwards. When she was several strides behind him, however, she stopped. How to say this...

When they were only a block away from his house, Takeshi saw a girl as she walked right past him. Of course, he thinking think much of it and continued on. Devon however seemed to show some interest, for looked back staring at the girl. "Takeshi... turn the other way." he whispered over. There was a possibility that she was after Takeshi, and he didnt want them to know where he lived. "Hah? What are you talking about.. too tired.. I want to go home." the sky guardian whined as his head hung low. "Just do as I say idiot!" Devon muttered kicking his head.

"OW!!!" Takeshi yelled before turning left instead of right. He really felt like crying. "I thought you were hungry too... We trained long enough." he mumbled. "I know." the arcobaleno replied keeping his eyes behind them.
"Then why?!" Sometimes... Takeshi wasnt sure what Devon was up to. He hated it when the small guy always did things without telling him. "Stop complaining, you're worse than a baby. I cant believe you were chosen to be a sky guardian." Devon commented. "I dont want to hear that from you!!" Takeshi yelled, "Besides.... It's not like I want to be the 12th.."

"Shiki. Are you slacking off again?"

The blue haired boy jolted out of his reverie as an arrow thwacked into the tree right next to his ear. He swore a few strands of hair fell onto his lap as he got to his feet.

"We've been in this freakin' forest for three days already," Shiki's voice was low, dangerous, as he reached for the twin revolvers he kept on his body at all times.

The pink haired Arcobaleno rolled her eyes. "Talk to me when I start caring," she drawled.

"When are we heading back?" Shiki relaxed, when Aura dropped to his side, a bow slung over her shoulder, a quiver of arrows hanging from her belt. The baby scoffed.

"Like you said. We've only been here for three days."

"That's more than enough time. What was the point of this anyway?" Shiki exhaled sharply.

"It's not like you were doing any of your schoolwork anyway." Aura snorted. "Besides..." her voice dropped, her unblinking eyes narrowing with unease. Something was off, the Storm Arcobaleno could feel it. Her red pacifier lay dormant and dull against her chest, but that didn't stop her. "Change of plans," she said. "We're heading back."

Laney, from her stand-still, quietly looked over her shoulder to see the boy's foot disappearing at a left turn. Part of her was glad that he hadn't noticed. Yet the arcobaleno on his shoulder had. He'd picked it up right away. Curiosity struck her; which guardian was this boy? His loud complaining was already getting on her nerves and she hadn't even spoken one word to him. She looked down at her map of the streets, eyes narrowed. He definately wasn't going in the direction of the Sky Guardian's house, but he wasn't headed in the direction of any of the other houses either. A light, complicated frown lit up her lips as she turned to the house she'd stopped next to. "Damn arcobalenos," she murmured. Without one hint of difficulty, the blonde climbed onto the roof in a soundless fashion. "Really, we should have never been created."

She started after them by jumping from roof to roof, keeping just out of sight so not to draw attention. After catching up, Laney pulled the chain from her storm ring and pulled out a storm box. She opened it while simultaneously jumping down from the roof and landing a couple strides behind the boy and the arcobaleno. Infront of the two landed a lion cub, teeth bared and claws unsheathed. From it's ears and on the tip of its trail sprouted storm flames, bright and sharp as they snapped at the air.

"Arcobaleno," she called ahead of her as she crossed her arms. "I have a message for a group of certain guardians. Would you perhaps tell me which guardian you are sporting?" Just to express that she wasn't the enemy, she put her hands behind her head. It was an action that said she wasn't going to pull out anything unless needed as well as helping her stretch out the cramps in her lower back. For a moment, she was glad that her pacifier didn't light up or cause other pacifiers to light up when she was near. She was almost untrackable in that sense.

As soon as the box weapons came out, landing on the ground, Devon had his gun pointed. "Devon?" Takeshi looked behind them and stumbled back seeing a girl with two lion cubs. "What the.." was all that came out. "Arcobaleno? Devon... how doesn she know what you are?" he asked shifting his gaze at the baby. Devon ignored Takeshi. "Box weapons? How do you have those?" he asked, putting his gun down as well. His eyes met Laney's. It seemed like she wasnt here to harm anyone... jumping back onto Takeshi's shoulder he answered her question, "The sky guardian."

Takeshi was totally lost. "Uh... Devon? Mind explaining..?" he asked. The arcobaleno just smacked him on the head to shut him up. "What kind of message do you have for us?" he asked crossing his arms. Muttering something under his breath, Takeshi looked down at the lions with flames coming out from its ears and tails. He raised an eyebrow, but didnt say anything. Instead, he chose to let Devon take care of this situation. Though at the same time, he felt so uneasy... as if something bad was going to happen... Without realizing, he gulped, waiting for the girl to answer.

Aura rode on the handlebars of Shiki's bike, as he pedaled down the street.

"Stop here," she ordered, jumping off as her pacifier began to glow.

"What the heck is going on?" Shiki asked, as he got off his bike, his hands already on the hilt of his guns. His eyes flashed, wary. Why did Aura have to be so mysterious all the time?

"Shut up and follow me," Aura shot back as she turned around the corner.

There.

Devon. What was the Sky Arcoblaeno doing here? She raked her eyes over the situation, her gaze landing on the Storm lion box weapon. Box weapon? A frown crossed her face.

"Idiot! Guard that in sixth! You're a fencer at heart, you should know at least that! But that's your problem, idiot. You're a fencer, not a fighter. I'm going to make you one!" Arturo yelled as he bashed Misami's skull with the butt of his blade. This caused a few whimpers of how it hurt to escape Misami, but these protests only temporarily intensified the beatings.

By now, though, Misami was getting used to the fact that she was being abused by this toddler. Whether he was having her avoid boulders he sent crashing down a hill, or if she was climbing up the tallest tree she could find, only to give him a better view of where he was going to place his next hellish course it was never enjoyable. Or smetimes, there would be days like today, where Arturo would come at her with a sword style she had never seen before, and she had to dissect it and beat it, before he lost patience and proceeded with his next "exercise".

"Hey! Are you even listening to me!?" Arturo yelled in her face as he hung from her bangs. Misami vigorously nodded her head in immediate response, but this only caused Arturo to lose his grip and be sent flying away. He landed nimbly a few feet away with a "harumph" and readied himself again. "We're going to do this until you get it right! Got that!?

And those words caused Misami's heart to sink. She ad already beaten three styles today, more than she had ever done before and he still wanted to go on? She didn't even know how long they'd been in that dojo anymore. All she could do was hope he'd get hungry or bored or something soon. But, until that happened, she had to fight. She readied her blade and watched Arturo's movements as he darted in and out with surprising speed. Gradually Misami matched her tempo to his and the fight was on.

"Leave me alone." Mugen kept walking down the street, ignoring the small child following behind him. "Nay, Mugen. Muuugen." The Arcobaleno disappeared and Mugen breathed a sigh of relief. He turned back to keep walking, only to see the baby face to face. It was standing on the end of the sword, the blade much longer than it was only a few seconds ago. "Mugen. . .-chan?" Mugen's eyes narrowed as the baby smiled widely. "Alright, I'll play with you." Mugen's knee raised toward the baby, forcing it to flip backward and avoid contact. "Hm, now we're talking, Mugen-chan." Mugen had had enough of this creepy baby. It had been following him for awhile now and Mugen was ready to make sure that it stopped. He reached into his coat and removed his steel blue tonfas. Rather than dropping into a stance he stood straight with them, his arms down and his body relaxed.

Reaver snickered and sheathed his Wakizashi. I wonder if the Arcobaleno's of Primo and Decimo' Cloud Guardians had this much trouble. Reaver raised his small hand and motioned for Mugen to come at him, to which the teen happily obliged. Mugen ran straight at the baby, thrusting his right tonfa forward. The baby had disappeared again. "Oi, I have to admit that shocked me. At least you have the resolve necessary for the Cloud." Mugen looked to his left and saw the baby standing on the end of his tonfa, his closed eyes and mocking smile ever constant. "So, Mugen-chan. Have you ever contemplated learning how to fight?" Mugen pulled the tonfa, forcing the baby off. "Usually I'm the one that does the taunting. This might be more interesting than I expected, baby."

"Hmm? These?" Laney held her storm lion box between index and thumb, examining it with a fake sense of boredom. Her four rings glittered gently against the sunlight as she pointed the box at the lion. It released a mighty roar before obediantly falling to the storm flames and shooting back inside the box. "Oh, I forgot, these are outlawed in your time period. Hmm. Ah well, it doesn't matter now." She tucked the box back to her belt before moving to replace the chain on the ring. Though she was sure that the enemy wasn't tracking with the power of the rings, she still wanted to be safe and secure hers. As soon as she did, her attention rose back up to the red-haired arcobaleno. "You're Devon, correct? Reborn told me about you. I didn't expect you to be the one who is the Sky Guardian, however."

The blonde tilted her head a little and examined Takeshi with an expert eye. "This is the new Vongola boss? Hmm. You've got your work cut out for you." She stretched before crossing her arms over her chest. Even without looking away from the two, she could tell that there was another guardian just off to the side. Perhaps it was expert's instinct, but who knew. "I don't like to dilly dally so I might as well cut to the chase. I am Laney Miko, a subordinate from the past (she refrained from saying arcobaleno just to be safe). Though it won't affect you until future time, we have an unknown force stealing boxes. We believe they may be modifying them. I am here upon orders to bring the new guardians to the past so we can defeat this force."

Without a hint of hesitation, Laney moved forwards so the space between her and the Sky Guardian was smaller. As she walked, she tugged off the chain that wrapped around her personal magenta ring. It had been specially made for her since she needed some way to bring out the flame that could open her one and only sky box. It was a rare box at that and she'd only used it once. The blonde halted just two feet before Takeshi, yellow eyes meeting his in a warrior-strong stare. "Of course, it is your choice to comply. You must take into consideration, however, that if you don't deal with this now, in the years to come your world could face a dark, evil era." She lifted her fist before her and after a moment allowed the rings to light up: magenta (her personal flame), storm, rain, sun, and no flame where there was a ring absent on her pinky finger. In a courteous fashion, she knelt on one knee and bowed her head slightly. A pose of service.

Devon watched her carefully and was surprised to hear Reborn's name. "You're from the past?" he asked tilting his head. Lney Miko... if he wasnt wrong, he have heard of that name before. "How do we know this isnt some kind of a trap?" he asked crossing his arms.
Takeshi stared at the girl before shaking his head, "No... she's not lying." he mumbled taking a small step back as she stepped closer to him. Devon looked at Takeshi. "How can you so sure?" he asked. "I... I dont know. I just... somehow know." the teen answered nervously. Instead of yelling at him, Devon smiled, "Alright, then I take that as you're willing to help Laney." he said. Takeshi nodded absent-mindedly before looking back up. "HUH?! I never said that. I mean... I just said she wasnt lying.. gwah I dont know!!" he said rubbing his head. "Ever since you showed up everything went crazy. First you tell me I'm some kind of a boss in the mafia, then the next thing I know, I have flames shooting out of my hands! I'm getting teached by some baby, how to fight. Now you're telling me to go back into the past?! Is that even possible?!" Devon simple stared at him before blinking, "Are you done?" he asked.

Takeshi sighed, and nodded. "So? What are you going to do?" the arcobaleno asked. Takeshi looked down at the Laney who had knelt down on one knee. "If... if we dont go.. than what happens?" he asked, his voice sounding slightly shakey.
"Didnt you hear? The world's going to go BOOM." Devon answered, seeing the look on his face. "Nawh, I'm kidding. But I believe... something dark is coming... and who knows. The world really might go Boom." Chewing on his lower lips Takeshi thought for a moment. "I... I guess I can help." he muttered quietly. "But he still lacks the skills." Devon chimmed in. "It's impossible for him to do it alone... and at this state, he'll probably die in a battle."

"Of course, his guardians would join him," Laney pointed out, straightening and replacing the chains to her rings. Once she did, she folded her arms once more and took a step back to give them space. "And you'll need to learn the methods of fighting with box-weapons." She examined the boy closely, not exactly sure what to think. He was, of course, having the normal reaction to being told he'd be some mafia boss. Even the first'd had difficulties with the prospect at first. She sighed lightly before gazing up at the fading sky. "It's growing towards afternoon. I'll have to round up the other guardians before nightfall, and then we'll leave tomorrow morning. That'll give us enough time too--"

Her words cut off abruptly and the blonde's form went rigid. She let out a rack of coughs before sinking to her knees. One hand over her mouth and another on her stomach, she continued to cough. "Dammit," she cursed between the fits. Laney lowered her head to the ground and closed her eyes in a futile attempt to calm down the sickness. "Hotoke-sama," she thought as her body let out another painful round of coughs. She didn't know what triggered the sickness to start up anymore as it just seemed to happen out of no-where. But Hotoke, a young man of great potential, was the one she turned to in this time of distress. He somehow kept her body stable so she didn't just deteriorate like the other arcobaleno of her group.

A curse in her frown, Laney struggled to stand. "Excuse me, Vongola," she said in a rough, quiet voice. "I've got a duty to attend to." Just to help support herself, she pulled out her storm box and, after lighting her storm flame, opened the box to release the lion. She'd put more flames into it this time so he was much larger than before and, in theory, more powerful. Then with her stealth ring, she rendered the lion invisible. Only those who could see the flames would be able to see him; it was a new improvement that the Vongola technicians had discovered. Still frowning, she turned and let her gaze fall to Shiki and his arcobaleno. "If you didn't hear that, ask the 12th here. I'm not in the mood to repeat myself." With that, she turned on her heal and (with a hand clenched tightly in the fur of her lion) she set off down the road.

All Devin knew was that one day she was given a ring. This ring...I wonder why it came into my hands? she thought as she walked down the street. It was a silver ring with a marking that looked like a shield with a symbol of a sun on it. Was she going to be forced to be part of something she wanted no part in? She had no clue, but she felt comfortable with the ring and one time when she could not find it she felt sick and could not think straight until she found it again and since then she has never let it off of her person. She would kill anyone who told her what to do. She may not like people in general because of her past, but those that get in her heart she will protect and kill for.

"Are you okay?!" Takeshi asked as Laney fell to the ground coughing. Before he can say anything more, the lion grew bigger, and carried her off. "Box.. weapons?" he wondered out loud. "You never told me anything about them." Devon shrugged, "I'll explain once we get something to eat. I hope you heard that Aura." he yelled before telling Takeshi to get going. With one nod, the two headed home.

~*~

Hotoke was sitting around tapping his fingers on his table when he heard a familiar call. "Hmmm? My Laney-chan is getting sick... I wonder if I can find a cure.. hmmm... I wouldnt want her to die yet.." he mumbled tossing a box weapon in the air. Hotoke chuckled, "Vongola... nothing without their boss... neh?" Keeping the grin on his face, he tilted his head observing the box weapon. "So much more technology in the future. Ahh.. I guess I would have to head to the future." Stretching, Hotoke got up and walked out of his room.

~*~

"Ahh I'm stuffed." Takeshi commented as he got up. "Thanks for the food mom." he added before heading upstairs to his room.
"Thanks for the food mama." Devon said following Takeshi. "So... mind telling me now? About this whole.. box weapon, going back in time thing?" Devon seemed to be deep in thought before nodding.
The two sat in Takeshi's room, silence filling the air. Nobody said a word, until Devon finally spoke up. "Box weapons... they were used 22 years ago, around the time of the 10th. Today.. they're not allowed by mafia law... nobody knows why. Back when the 10th was still alive, box weapons were pretty much an important source..." Takeshi just listened, as Devon explained everything about the past.
"Of course, that's what I heard from Reborn. I wasnt there around that time, so I'm didnt witness everything. However, if Reborn said it, than it must be true. The 10th vongola and his guardians were sent to the future. Now you're getting sent to the past. This might have some kind of connection.. or someone else is messing around with the parallel world. Anywho, I'm done explaining everything, I'm going to sleep." he said changing into his pajamas.
"Ah, wait Devon... it's only 6:30, anyways... if we go back to the past... will we be able to meet the 10th?" Takeshi asked. The arcobaleno simply shrugged. "It depends how far back we go. And... I'll sleep whenever I want." with that, he fell asleep. Takeshi sat on his bed, staring out the window.

The plan wasn't going as she expected. Laney calculated the time it would take to locate everyone, and came to the conclusion that she couldn't do it alone. A silent sigh on her lips, she sat crosslegged on one of the walls running alongside the many sidewalks around the town. She pulled out five sheets of blue paper and five envelopes. A pen in hand, the blonde began writing identicle letters to each guardian, simply stating: Mission for Vongola Guardians. Pack clothes/supplies for a trip. Sky Guardian and said subordinate will explain tomorrow. Report to Namimori Shrine tomorrow at sunrise. Do not be late. She placed each blue paper in the envelopes. She placed the wax, then reluctantly pressed one of her rings into the mold.

Once satisfied with the condition, she pulled out her rain box, lit up her rain ring, and opened the box. The rain mouse perched itself on her shoulder, nose twitching as it waited for orders. "Bring these to the guardians other than Sky and Storm. You should be able to find them by both their flames and the arcobalenos with them. Meet me at Namimori Shrine tomorrow at sunrise. Understand?" Though it continued to watch her blankly, the change in the rain flames around it was a signified answer. Satisfied, Laney placed the envelopes in it's mouth before sending it off.

Now, to find the Sky Guardian's home. It was tradition for the boss to house any visiters, and this was no exception. The arcobaleno jumped down from her position on the wall and began strolling in the direction she was sure it was in. Along the way she was forced to pause several times to take needed breaths. She hadn't seen Hotoke in... she couldn't remember how long. It was a weird relationship towards each other. Laney was never sure what he was thinking, or if he even cared for her at all. No, she knew he had at least one shread of care. Why else would he help her as he did? The ring surrounded with multiple chains jingled in her coat pocket. Wearing that ring was never a good idea for her. It was smart to wait until she could see Hotoke again and get at least some idea on what he could do for her illness.

She paused as she passed a specific home. Through the window she could see Devon sleeping. A light, careless smile lit up her lips. Laney recalled well the exhaustion of being a baby. That time when she'd been trapped in that harmless body... but part of her missed it. To say she was an arcobaleno was one thing, but to be one was another. And someone such as she wasn't. She was, to sum it up, a failure. The blonde turned and strode up the steps to his house, then knocked nicely on the door. Who would answer? What would she say? And more importantly, would they let her in?

Kiyoshi walked down the street quietly, her long dark hair blew lightly in the breeze as she gazed up at the sky, wondering what it would look like somewhere else. She sighed lightly, not truly considering Japan home...but she also didn't consider L.A home either, her parents split up bothered her rather a lot, the fact that she didn't know what a 'complete family' felt like, there was no way to get her parents back together, and she figured it would be a waste of time to try again, when she was younger, about seven years old, she used to try, but it always failed. She knew they hated each other and would never want to be together again. Everything was so very complicated now...

"Well. That was something." Aura muttered as she hopped back onto Shiki's shoulder. "Let's head home." Her eyes were thoughtful, and Shiki thought better of asking her to clarify. Vongola...why did the name sound so familiar?

It had to do with his flames. Something about the red flame that erupted out of his middle finger. The flame that he was capable of condensing and forming into bullets.

"Dad's home tonight," Shiki deadpanned. "I was supposed to be home for dinner half an hour ago."

Aura shrugged. "Not my problem," the Arcobaleno snorted, as Shiki punched in the key code for the building. The door slid open and he stepped inside. His father was rather wealthy, being a mobster and all. Shiki could feel the eyes of some of his father's subordinates following him as he moved silently through the main lobby towards the express elevator that would take him directly to the penthouse where he and his father lived.

"So what do we do now?" Shiki asked in the elevator.

"We wait for Laney to tell us what to do." Aura remained mysterious as Shiki arrived at his floor. "I'll come back at two. Stay awake and do your homework, or face the consequences."

With that, she jumped out the window, landing on the balcony beneath her and moving all the way back down to the floor.

And all Shiki could think was, 'Why the heck did she come all the way up?'

Devin's "father" as she called him was to be away for a year or two because of business and so her home was empty and that led her to not be there often as she did not like being in such a big house by herself so most of the time when he was away she lived on the streets except when she needed money or was hungry and did not feeling like buying food. She found a nice empty lot the other day and had set it up for it to be a nice comfortable spot for her to live while her "father" was away, it was I guess you could say her new "Home away from home" as she arrived at the lot she sat down on a couch she had brought there and decided to rest. As the sun in the sky began to set Devin fell asleep and went off to train as she did whenever she slept, she trained in her sleeping or well dreaming hours as well as her waking ones.

Misami sat panting against the wall of the dojo. Bloody... that was hard. Arturo kept changing the style on her! That wan't fair... And now Arturo just sat on top of her head, thinking of what he would put her through tomorrow. She couldn't wait to get back to school so she could get Arturo out of her hair for a while. Suddenly Arturo hopped down onto Misami's shoulders.

"Alright, gather your things. I'm bored. So let's go home to eat. I haven't had anything to eat since lunchtime." And with that, Misami went over and gathered the few things she brought with her, and began to walk out of the dojo. Of course this inspired a "faster" remark from Arturo. And when Misami ignored it, once again, the hilt of Arturo's sword came down upon her head repeatedly. And with that Misami began a light run, despite her exhaustion.

Soon they reached the Lyselle household. With Misami sweating even more and desprately wanting to go to school. And as soon as she walked in the door she was greeted by her father. IT had become almost a homecoming ritual. Her father would almost always be waiting for her and Arturo to step into the door and as soon as they crossed the threshhold he would jump up and try to convince Arturo to train one of his sons instead. And every day, Arturo would toy with the idea and leave her father hopeful for the next day. And today started no different.

The exhausted Misami came in the door with her personal slave driver sitting on her shoulder. Whom gave an approving "good" as she made it without collapsing. But as soon as she entered, Misami fell into a heap in the nearest chair and Arturo lept off of her shoulder onto the floor. No sooner had his feet hit the floor than her father came in with his daily sucking up.

"Arturo-san." he began (Misami could never understand why her father used san for a toddler) "Have you been out with my daughter? I doubt she is living up to your expectations, right? She was the last person to pick up a blade in the family. Why, if she got into a swordfight between either of my sons, she'd lose." (Her father had obviously not seen her training or cared to pay attention) "What do you say? Do you want to train one of my sons for a day? Just one day. And if you think they are better suited then you may continue to train them to your heart's content. After all, swordplay is a man's job is it not?"

But for some reason, Arturo's response was different today than normal. Usually he would say he may take one of the sons tomorrow and say that Misami was lazy or whatever he felt like, but as I said, he didn't today. "No. The job of guardian goes to that most suited for the job. And I cannot think of anyone more suited for the position than your daughter. Granted, she is still slow and weak right now, but when I'm done with her, she will be the best Rain Guardain Vongola's ever seen."

Misami stared at Arturo in stunned silence. She was suited for it? She couldn't remember Arturo ever complimenting her before. "Besided" Arturo continued. "A guardian's job is not just a man's job. Aura is scary." then Arturo took advantage of the silence to look back up at Misami. "Make me some ramen... After you shower. You stink."

"Come to think about it... I never got the chance to meet the other guardians. All Devon told me was that there were 6 others.." Takeshi mumbled to himself as he doodled on a piece of paper. "Ahh and what am I supposed to tell mom?" he banged his head down on the table, which wasnt a good thing since all his books ended up falling on top of his head. "Ow, yikes, ouch." Sighing, he picked his books up, placing it back. "Maybe going to the past isnt such a good idea." he muttered.

"What are you talking about? You already made your decision to go. A true vongola boss wouldnt go back on his words." Devon said out of nowhere. "Ah! You're awake?" Takeshi yelled in surprise. Devon gave him a short nod. "It was a nap, and besides, it's impossible for me to sleep with all that noise." Takeshi got up, letting himself fall onto his head. "What am I going to tell mom? What if I cant do anything... what if none of the guardians are willing to go?" he asked staring blankly at the ceiling. "Why are you being so weak?" Devon's voice sounded... well.. cold. Takeshi looked over blinking at the baby.

"TAKESHI!! I THINK SOMEONE'S AT THE DOOR. I'M BUSY AT THE MOMENT COULD YOU GET THE DOOR FOR ME?!"
his mother's voice snapped him back to reality. "Huh?! Oh yeah sure mom!!!" he yelled back before getting up and running down the stairs. Wondering who it was, he opened the door without a second thought. As soon as he saw Laney, his eyes widened, taking a step back. "U-uh... come in...?" Takeshi said, unsure if he did the right thing. Devon jumped down from the stairs, doing a flip in the air before landing in between Takeshi and Laney. "Yo."

[[for all other guardians, you need to read my first paragraph. you don't have to read the rest (unless you're Cross xD), but it's telling you about getting the letters and such]]

The rain mouse was doing its duty to its perfection. Only moments before it had split into five other copies of itself and each were scampering in different directions to get to their destinations. Each mouse that had to enter a household did it in a subtle fashion, such as through a patch in the roof or through an open window. It wasn't too difficult judging that their master was an arcobaleno and they had some of her natural power to them. The mice placed the letters on each bed of the guardians: Misami, Shiki (though he'd heard of going to the future, he still needed the location from the letter), Haine. The other three mice scampererd through the streets. One paused and stuck it's nose in the air, then immediately raced to the side and stopped before the feet of a young boy... girl... whichever it was. It stuck the corner of the letter his... her shoe, then completely disappeared from sight. Another jumped on the shoe of a dark-haired girl who seemed to be wondering aimlessly around. It poked the girl's leg with the letter before dropping it at the girl's feet and also disappearing. The last, real mouse had paused just a couple feet away from a boy and his closed-eyed arcobaleno companion. It squeeked loudly, rushed inbetween them, dropped the letter, then disappeared into the shadows without a trace.

Laney tilted her head slightly to the left as Takeshi answered the door. "Do I frighten you or something? Really, you're the 12th. You're more of a baby than the actual baby." She nudged her thumb at Devon before meeting the eyes of the arcobaleno. "Hey Devon," she greeted as if she'd known him for years on end. She crouched down so she could be at around the same level as he. "Mmm, I don't ever remember being this small," she murmured, too quiet for Takeshi himself to hear but perhaps loud enough for Devon to hear. "Anywho, Vongola, I need a place to stay. Normally I'd stay at the base or with a friend of mine (she refrained from using Hotoke's name for his safety and for that reason only), but since I'm not exactly used to this time period I've got no-where to sleep."

Taking advantage of the invitation, the blonde stood and pressed through the front door, making sure to be respectful and excusing herself as she did so. "Hm. By the way, Vongola, we're getting up extra early tomorrow. We've got to make sure all the other guardians accepted to come to the shrine. So get in bed and get some shut-eye." Laney wasn't going to act polite just because of who this boy was. Even if she appeared to be his age, she wasn't going to let him slack off. In truth, she would be at least in her twenties in this time period. Her eyes traveled to where Takeshi's mother was humming down the hallway. "I should be taking my nap about now," she murmured to herself. "Ah well." She turned back to Takeshi with a frown on her lips. "I'll sleep on a couch, comfy chair, whatever you got. But I'm not sleeping on the floor, got it?"

Shiki belched once he was in the confines of his own room. Damn, dinner had been good. Despite the disagreements he might have with his father, there was healthy respect between the two males.

Shiki's father knew of the boy's talents as an assassin and Shiki knew of his father's connections.

Sometimes, both those things could be either good or bad.

Shiki flipped on the light to his room, noticing an envelope on his bed.

Had Aura left him something?

But he still had homework to do...

He crossed over, tearing off the cover and started reading the letter. "Namimori Shrine?" he murmured. "Why?"

--x--

Aura was searching for Devon's location. "This shouldn't be that hard," she decided, hopping from rooftop to rooftop. She was waiting for her pacifier to start glowing - and she had some sort of idea where the Sky Arcobaleno would be.

Finally, she found the house. Well, it hadn't been that hard. The stranger - Laney - was standing in front of the door. She had just entered the house. Aura slipped down to the window, ready to do some investigating.

"I'm surprised you're still goin' if its any consolation." Mugen wiped the blood from his mouth, the kick from the baby obviously doing more than he thought it would. "You're stronger than I thought you would be, considering you haven't even tapped into your gifts." Mugen took a heavy breath. "You keep saying that. You think I care what you think of me, baby?" Reaver chuckled and scratched his head. "Don't get me wrong kid, there is a reason you're the Cloud Guardian. But, you just haven't quite understood a tenth of what that means yet, Mugen-Chan." Mugen smirked and clicked his tonfas, a blade on the opposite side of the handle appeared from both weapons. "Now, you are really starting to piss me off." Reaver whistled and clapped. "Nice addition, but it still won't help, Mugie-chan." Mugen's right eye began to twitch and he lifted the tonfas. "Mugie?" Reaver nodded and Mugen smiled widely. A purple tint could be seen around his hands for a split second, and then it vanished. "Now we're getting somewhere, Mugie-chan."

They continued like this for close to another hour, Mugen unrelenting in his attacks and Reaver playfully dodging every single one of them. Mugen was starting to pant heavily, but with each attack he was getting closer to hitting the baby. Mugen Munashii. He can't be trained in a traditional way. Someone like him only learns through battle, the same as all the others. The Cloud Guardian, distant and cold, but always there to help the family in times of need. He has exhibited comprehension of mist as well, not falling for my reflected image. He's improving with each swing, so at least it won't be as useless as I originally thought. Reaver snapped back as Mugen was once again coming at him. Reaver went to dodge when he noticed another presence which caused him to instead kick Mugen once again, this time putting the teen down for the count. Reaver looked down at the ground and saw a mouse carrying an envelope. He took the envelope and patted the mouse on the head, "Domo." With that the mouse left, leaving Reaver to tend to Mugen. He opened the letter and read its contents, destroying it immediately afterward. He looked at Mugen and shrugged. "He should be fine here while I get his travel things."

Reaver returned twenty minutes later, carrying the suitcase over his shoulder with the blade of his wakizashi supporting it. He looked around and did not see Mugen. "Mugie-chan?" He ducked forward as a tonfa came over his head, Mugen rolling out in front of him. "Ready for round two, baby?" Reaver chuckled. "Only if you are able to catch me." With that Reaver took off down the street, Mugen giving chase. Looks like I will have to keep him busy until morning. . . its going to be a long night.

"Huh? Oh.. uh I was just surprised.. not scared.." he said his voice trailing off. He looked up at her when she said she needed a place to sleep. Takeshi smiled, "Of course, feel free to stay. My mom wont mind.. right mom?" he said looking over his shoulder. His mother seemed confused before smiling, "Oh, a visitor. Of course she can stay." Devon simply gave her a nod. "No, no you could sleep on Takeshi's bed, and he'll sleep on the couch or the floor." he said jumping on Laney's shoulder, he too acting as if he have known her forever.

"Huh? ...." Takeshi glared at Devon before sighing, "Yeah, it's fine. You can sleep on my bed." he said with a smile. He led her upstairs, and froze, when he remembered his room was.. well....... a bit of a mess... okay, a lot. "Hahaha.... could you wait for a second?" he asked. Without waiting for a response, he ran into his room, slammed close the door, and started to clean. He stuffed his clothes under his bed, and some was just thrown into his closet. He looked around, doing a last minute check before poking his head out of his room, "Uh.. you can come in now.. sorry."

Devon shook his head at Takeshi before realizing someone else was in the house with them. He looked around, but for now decided to act like he didnt know. "As Laney said, you'll have to wake up early. Go to sleep." he ordered. Takeshi nodded, rubbing the back of his head. "Well, ... good night you two." he said leaving his room.

Devin woke up the next day and noticed a letter, but she simply ignored it not even bothering to read it now. It was sunrise and that meant in was time to go get some food, the letter could wait until after breakfast. Devin in order to do some training she always ran on walls and such avoiding the ground while she went for breakfast. She arrived to the store quite quickly, where she picked up a couple of meat buns, one of her few vices here in Japan, then promptly paid for them before beginning to walk back to her lot.
