Introduction
It was also during this darkness that thousands of people learned that they had become inhuman monsters. Many of them were killed before they knew what had happened to them. Some were killed by mobs of terrified humans, others took their own lives. Those that survived learned that they could return to their human forms. These shapechanging beings are called the Nightbane, for it was at night that they become monsters.
The Nightbane are people who discover that they not entirely human. In fact, they are shape-changers who possess a comparatively frail, human "facade" and a supernatural, superhuman "morphus."
The morphus is said to reflect the person's personality or subconscious fears, desires and self-image. Thus some are exotic and beautiful, while others (most) are misshapened monsters. No two appear exactly alike and even the most hideous can have the spirit of a saint, while the handsome and beautiful may be evil incarnate.
Whether hideous or beautiful, cruel or kind, the Nightbane are feared and slaughtered by most humans who see only a monster. Creatures of shadows, when slain, they disappear like the morning mist, as if they never existed (and leaving no evidence of their existence).
A surprising number of Nightbane cherish and cling to their humanity. Many of these become secret protectors of humankind and champions of good. Yet even these misbegotten heroes must operate in secret lest fearful, evil or misguided humans torment or destroy them. But there are far greater horrors loosed in the world than this. Evil Nightbane, vampires, human sorcerers, supernatural predators and other dark forces all busy building their petty power structures, preying on the weak and innocent, or engaging in foul pursuits. Worse, the Nightbane are hunted and slaughtered without just cause and without mercy by the Nightlords and their minions.
The Nightlords plan to quietly seize control of the world! They have already secretly infiltrated the highest levels of world government and business, and have begun to manipulate and enslave humankind. Their only opposition: humans who have uncovered the truth, vampires (rivals for world domination), and the Nightbane who have elected to fight their own kind to save the human race.
There are many organizations in this world. Some good some evil.
The Resistance
The Resistance is the largest Nightbane Faction, with members throughout the world and in nearly every city of the United States. The goals of this group are simple: To organize the Nightbane and oppose the Nightlords everywhere, by whatever means necessary.
Underground Railroad
The Underground Railroad is the oldest Nightbane organization. Like the Civil War organization who's name they share, the Nightbane version offers protection and shelter to their kind, while teaching them about their nature, talents, and how to survive humankind. They seek to provide Nightbane guidance and safe places to learn about themselves and how to survive in a dangerous world. Some, who felt the time for hiding in the background was ended, broke off to form the Resistance.
The Lightbringers
The Lightbringers are one of the strangest groups in the Nightlord-ravaged world of Nightbane. Their membership includes both Nightbane and humans, but the group is believed to be led by the mysterious Guardians. The mysterious beings are appearing in ever greater numbers, attacking the minions of the Nightlords, the growing vampire population, and those Nightbane who try to abuse their powers.
The guardians are an enigmatic group. Most guardians don't fully understand who or what they are. From what is known, they seem to be normal men and women that have been transformed into supernatural beings with an instinctual desire to help humankind and destroy evil. Most of them remember little or nothing about their previous lives.
They resemble normal humans, although are typically much shorter. They have smooth white skin and hair, and translucent eyes, which often gives them the appearance of being albinos. They have incredible psychic and healing powers, but their most interesting characteristic is their ability to create light that can be used as shields or even blasts of energy that can inflict massive damage on supernatural creatures.
The Warlords
The Warlords are nothing but a Nightbane-dominated street gang that has spread across North America. They have no care for the war against the Nightlords, the vampires, or much of anything else. Instead, they control their streets against all comers. Heavy into crime, drugs and protction rackets, and other shady activities, this faction is mostly bullies and thugs, with a few heroes in the rough hidden deep within.
The Seekers
Magic and the occult are thought of as mere fantasy and superstition, at least before Dark Day. Unknown to the world at large, sorcerers and arcanists had been practicing the mystic arts in secret. The Seekers are an ancient organization of sorcerers who are becoming active in world affairs for the first time in centuries.
Spook Squad
Special agencies of the government like the CIA, the NSA, the Secret Service, and the PAB (the very secret Paranormal Activities Bureau) have been forced underground by the machinations of the Nightlords, and are now fighting against them as a faction known as the Spook Squad. These former spies, law enforcement agents, and soldiers know that alien beings have taken over the United States and other global governments. They know very little about the supernatural forces they face.
The Nocturnes
The Nocturnes seem to have existed before Dark Day, and are enemies of the Nightlords. The Nocturnes claim to have been founded by an ancient Wampyr called Iosef Pendragon, who was able to magically sever his link to the Vampire Intelligence and slay his former masters. The Nocturnes fought the encroaching Vampires in centuries-long battles. Many were killed during Dark Day, but their secrecy preserved them and led them to rally in order to subvert the Nightlords.
The Nightlords
What most people don't know is that "Dark Day" was an event used by a race of beings from neighboring dimension to invade our world. These beings are known as the Ba'al-ze-neckt (Lords of Night), or simply, the "Ba'al". The Ba'al are a race of psychic vampires that feed on the life energy of both humans and Nightbane. Their true origins are a matter of debate; some accounts say they were sorcerers whose cruelty and demand for child sacrifice caused their subjects to revolt, while others claim they were always alien in origin. Whatever the case, it is known that they were banished to the Nightlands thousands of years ago. Now they have successfully weakened the barrier between Earth and the Nightlands and can come and go as they please. The Nightlords possess the ability to manipulate matter for various purposes (their greatest achievements being the creation of their vast fortresses).
As for you, the world has never quite been the same since Dark Day. The day there was no sun rise β no moon or stars for that matter β only absolute darkness and hysteria.
It is your seventeenth birthday when "The Becoming" changes your life and your world view forever. That was the day you discovered there were two of you, your human-self and the inhuman creature you can become at will.
You quickly learn there are "monsters" in the world, both human and supernatural, evil and good. The question is, which are you?
Character Sheet
As this is mostly about the Nightbane I would like a majority of the characters to be Nightbane. However, I am going to allow two Guardians, humans, and a vampire.
Name:
Nickname: (If any)
Height:
Weight:
Race: (Nightbane, Human, Guardian, or Vampire.)
Age: (Nightbane start at 17, for Vampires give actual age and appearance age.)
Appearance: (Pictures or a description is fine. For Nightbane give a picture or description of both your Morphus and your Facade. Remember, Nightbane are more often then not monstrous in appearance so don't fall back into angels and demons. Yes, your character can be supernaturally beautiful if you want, but I don't want a bunch of Superwomen running around. Be creative. Your Nightbane can look like anything!!!)
Personality: (What is your character like? How does he/she act? How does he/she feel about his/her transformation? Try to be as detailed as possible.)
Likes:
Dislikes:
Biography: (Tell me a little about your character. What has he/she done with their life up until now.)
Talents: Not human talents, but what can your Nightbane do. Nightbane have magic like supernatural abilities. They can do things like suffocate people with shadows, produce shadow whips, see glimpses of the future, scry, control the weather to an extent, convert themselves to electricity to travel through power lines and even hack to an extent. Be creative with it, but don't go overboard. Also, if it doesn't make sense for your character to be able to do it then don't. Also, all Nightbane have the ability to cross into the Nightlands through mirrors, the home of the Nightlords though this is very dangerous and unless your very experienced you won't last long. Nightbane can also innately sense other Nightbane. All Guardians can control Light and all of them get visions. They use these visions to guide them on their mission to destroy the Nightlords. However, no one knows where these visions come from. Whew, sorry thats so long.)

"Red Leader, this is Blue Leader. My team has reached Entry Point B of the mansion," a man radioed from a group of figures in the night. They were stacked on the door ready to move in.
"Roger that Blue Leader, Red Leader is set at Entry Point A. Rogue Leader, how are things on your end?" Red Leader radioed back.
"Rogue Leader here, we are set at Entry C," Rogue Leader replied.
"Roger that Rogue Leader. All teams, you are clear to engage. I repeat you are green to go. Let's get this son of bitch, Red Leader out."
In the shadows of the city roof tops it stalked its prey. Yes, this one was close to The Becoming. Its smelled strongly of Nightbane and the hound licked its lips. The sixteen year old girl below was unaware of her nightmarish stalker as emerged from her McDonalds work place. To her if she smelled heavily of anything it would have been the grease frier. However, worries of smell were soon dashed from her life as a metal spear sung through the air and smashed into the parking lot right next to her feet. She let out a loud squeal that made her stalker want to cover his ears.
"Tch, misssed," the hound hissed as it dove from the top of the McDonalds "M" sign and landed in front of the terrified girl. It could smell the fear in her and laughed as the girl looked up at its strange body. The hound had a reptilian like body with red scales covering it. It stood on two legs with three-pronged sharp talons for feet. Its long arms ended in a clawed hand that held a large jagged sword. On its back set two large dragon like wings that spread out around its eight foot height and its head was shaped like like a birds with a sharp beak and beady eyes. Behind it a long scaley tail wrapped around to the front of its legs.
"Now hold sssstil and die," it hissed as it raised its sword and swung.
The Nightlord stood staring out the window in the form of the current United States president as an adviser went on about the decline in the economy, the unemployment rate, possible plans of action, and a long droll of other things the Nightlord didn't care for at the time. The Nightlord turned to the adviser relayed a few plans to help the economy and dismissed the adviser to get them started. Moloch was growing tired of this charade, but he know that now was not the time to reveal himself. In reality the Nightlords hold was rather fragile at the moment. It solidified with each passing day and soon their hold would be unbreakable. He just had to bide his time. For now there was the Nightbane threat to deal with. They were strong and their numbers were growing. They must be weeded out. Starting with the Resistance.

The transition from Facade to Morphus had become surpringly easier since the Dark Day. That day, he had felt agony beyond comparison, like every bone in his body was burning. It had continued for a few minutes, then promptly stopped. Now, here he stood, the transformation process nothing more than a slight ember on his now shadow skin. He held his hand out, activating Yami, the circle spanning a good half of his room.
The magic circle under him began to glow, and Knoll stood perfectly still. He could feel the pulses from the spell wash through him, sounding back, and washing through again. As this happened, the lights around Yami faded with each passing minute. Finally, the 21st light went out, signaling an end to Yami. The reasearchs circles dimmed down.
This had become an everyday thing. At hihs own request, every day, he would have his Morphus form scanned, to see if their were any changes from the last time they checked. This was to keep an eye on it and maybe, just maybe, learn something about the Composition of a Morphus. He waited for a few minutes and, reciving the report that nothing had changed, bid his comrades farewell.
He reached to his side, picking up his large research log, and quickly scribbled "No change to report." Before setting it to his side again.
He looked to his lab, witch was filled with the smell of various plants and chemicals, all nessacary for his line of work. He just stood there for a few minuets, wondering what to do next, when he realized he was still in Morphus form. Before he reverted to Facade, he might as well head to the Seekers lair, and offer to help with something. He closed his eyes, feeling a now familar darkness come over him.
When he opened his eyes, he looked around at his... 'office', at the Seeker HQ. He always kept the lights off when he was away: it allowed him easier transport to and from his house, and this place. He felt the darkness within vanish, as Knoll the human stepped out into the corridors of the Lair.
He heard various whispers around his comrades. Some where discussing the various ways they may handle the rising vampire threat. None of these sounded very good, because Knoll saw no way that they would be able to cultivate a garlic farm the size of the ledgenary wheat fields of Kansas, so he said no words of encouragement, and he continued on his way.
"Knoll, there you are." Came the voice of one of his Research assistants. "As you suggested, we were looking into how Morphongenic feilds could possibly interlock with the Lay Lines... the result is incredible."
Knoll didn't stop walking, "I'm guessing you found that, the closer they are to a lay lin, the more these Fields can transmit to a receiving Person?"
"Correct. A transmitter using the fields found it easier to transmit a thought or word across the world to a reciever... it's absoulutly amazing."
Knoll nodded, "I thought so. Our next plans for this should be trying at a nexus point to send entire messages across to others.... see if that can be done or not. If not, I'll simply have to revise my theory."
The assistant nodded, and walked away. Knoll allowed him self the slightest of smiles, pleased to see his research into the area was progressing. Studying Telepathy was quite difficult, after all.
He passed by the childrens hall, where the children that the Seekers had taken under their wing were looking around in wonder. A female Seeker was explain things to them. She paused when she noticed Knoll was watching them, and beckoned him over. "Everyone, this is Knoll. He's a rreasearcher, just like some of you may be." She said in a sweet voice.
"HI, Mr. Knoll!" The children said in unison.
"Would you like to say something to these Future Seekers, Knoll?" The women asked.
Knoll paused for a moment, contemplating. "I pray that each of you can find their truth. Truth is something that only shows it self it those have observed, considered, and made a choice. Each of you is capable of finding their own truth in life, and The Seekers will do what they can to maximize your potential. Go with learning, and you will not be failed." WIth that, he walked away.
When he arrived at his destination, there was a large map based on poolitcs, and the areas under the Nightlord's control, and began discussing ways to possibly improve their actions.

Temperance was walking slowly along a street in the over-crowded and over-industrialized city of New York. The lights where dim and the mood had shifted from lively to droned and ugly. Distaste tainted her mouth and she cringed at the feeling of darkness. It swarmed her until she bounced under a street light and shook herself a little, pressing her lips tightly together. The moderate building to her left was where she stayed during the times she wanted to feel human again, feel normal.
The girl wanted nothing more than a normal life. Her story was one of many sad tale's that she chose to ignore on her quest for acknowledgement. Tempy wished to be normal right now, normal all the time. Her eyes flashed with a brief anger and she spat onto the side walk, the dark closing in on even the light as it flickered above her head. She groaned and flicked her hood over her head, trying to hide from the darkness when it simply latched on to her skin like a big, gross, leach. Temperance whined a little, only down the street where the bright city lights and the bars with their exotic dancers and drunk men.
She made a mad dash for the bright lights when the light finally gave it's last farewell above her head and she trampled a man over while eventually ending up against a brick building, pressing herself back and sucking in a deep breath. Her eyes wandered slowly around the area, glancing quite softly at the neon bar signs. She slid down against the brick, letting the light make her sigh gently and smile slightly. The slightest of light made her feel more comfortable. More at home in her own skin did the transparent lighting fixtures make Tempy feel. This, however, was easily confused to be human flesh and bones.
The rags of skin and fleshy substances only helped the life of a monster survive and thrive. Her eyes flashed yellow for an instant instead of their regular brown and she cupped her hands over them instantly, as if it where planned or a reflex. It was a reflex. The darkness calmed the fluids in her mind, though she hated it so. It calmed her pulse, made her relax, and eventually let her have her solitude with the neon lights.
The lights in the old building went short for an instant and by the time they had flashed back on, Temperance was gone. She had tore off back down the dark alley and straight up a building but not in a natural, human, fleshy body. She was now in her morphus. It had become gradually easier for her to use this skill, but at the moment, the fear and anger of the neon lights flickering sent her into a frenzy and she shot up the building using her long, crooked-looking, hooked, legs. The body of a spider and head of a wolf tore through onto the roof. The moon rested above the monsters head and a whimper turned into a low, soft howl. It ended with a girl, laying on her side in the light of the moon.
Sadly, Tempy hated this switching. The pulsing in her mind was uncontrollable and led straight to catastrophe and death of a regular, innocent human. So, she fought it with her will. She didn't want to be seen like that. Not like some sort of animal. Her gaze flickered. She was eighteen years old. Seventeen was the shifting year. She should have had herself under control by now, right? Wrong. Her hatred and anger and actions led to a mental instability which fluctuated, making her shift when her anger finally blew off. It took hard work for her to keep herself under control, especially in the darkest of hours. Lust for something dark and evil rested but pumped through her brain and she dug her fingers into the rooftop, barely scratching the surface of her misery. The light took too long to arrive. It seemed like an eternity. Though, Temperance would wait every night. She would do as she could to go on.

"Excuse us sir!"
"Could you tell us where we should go?"
"We got lost when we left the group!"
They spoke quietly, as if fearing discovery at any moment. Moon grabbed her sister's arm, wanting to feel safe. They both knew this type of act was dangerous, but they felt it was something they had to do in order to perhaps gain an ally.
(As a reference, Sun has italics while Moon has underline. When combined, they're speaking in sync.)

Ciel stopped for a moment on top of an apartment building near a small shopping center to rest. She scanned the area bored. The most exciting thing that happened on patrol was perhaps witnessing a car accident. If you were lucky, that is. Thoughts of food drifted into her mind when she caught the all too familiar aroma of greasy fast food burgers and fries lazily made its way to her nostrils. "Mhmmmm...." she glanced over at a nearby McDonald's and she spotted it. A figure. Definitely not human on top of the infamous yellow 'M' sign. Suddenly, it swung down what looked like a giant metal spear of some sort at a typical human girl. Luckily it missed. However, that didn't seem to stop the mysterious figure from pursuing its prey. Immediately it leaped down, trapping the poor girl. The human let out a terrified scream as the figure raised what looked like some sort of sword to finish her off.
"Not if I have anything to say about it!" Ciel yelled as she blocked the attack with her staff. She had changed into her Morphus form now, and was holding back the Nightbane. She turned her head slightly towards the girl and said, "Run! Get out of here!" The girl let out another scream and ran away. To where she went, Ciel didn't know, but that was the least of her problems. "Heh, you've got a lot of nerve to be attacking humans out in the open like this, you wretch." she spat still holding back his sword with her staff.

"Nehru" She spoke softly eyes falling to the shadow at her side, it hissed a reply that only she could understand, something that to normal people would sound like the hiss of the wind. She nodded, "Let me see." She commanded the shadow silently, knowing that the only way she would be able to see what was going on was if she were to use Nehru to see. A sudden image alighted in her mind, she could see the entire scene, they were by a McDonald, and as far as she could tell there was only the creature, and the girl. She couldn't really define any features about them, after all, seeing through the eyes of Nehru only let her see shapes and outlines that are in black and white, she was unable to see colour or detail. It annoyed her more then it should have, in fact, she should be grateful that she could see at all.
Sapphire felt the familiar surge of energy being stolen from her. She wiped the white hair away from her face and walked forward as to get a better view, though still not being able to see. "What Naughty children you are" She said with a less then serious attitude, laughing, "Fighting's bad for your health" She commented dryly, "Nehru..." She trailed off as the shadow surged forward of its own accord leaving her sightless again, she brought her hands to her face quickly, feeling herself melt back into her Facade without her approval. She cursed herself, it had been months ago when the first change had come, and she was sure that she would be able to control it by now. Angrily she wandered what Nehru was doing, but by the sounds of his hisses she could tell that he was attaching himself to the humans shadow that had ran, and was forcing her in a different direction. Angrily she stomped her foot down, "NEHRU" She shouted, looked around helplessly. Sapphires Facade having returned, she was sure that she looked even more vulnerable with her child-like look, she probably looked exactly like a child. Vulnerable, angry, and drained of energy from using Nehru so briefly. She cursed at the stupid shadow, eyes blazing even though they were of no use.

It made a hissing laugh and the hound licked its lips with its forked tongue. "You let my prey essscape girl, but the massster will be pleasssed with you asss well," the hound hissed down at her before raising its blade once more; the jagged edges gleaming in the moonlight. Then with surprising speed it struck downwards at the girl fully confident that it would win. It was just another untrained Nightbane playing hero it thought. She would not present a challenge.

The first sign that something was wrong was the scream. Technically, he supposed, there should have been more signs before that point, but the boy had been deeply consumed with a book. The store had been closed a little while ago, and the lights had been turned off in the front. Ivan was placed in the back, with the lamp dimmed but bright enough to see the pages before him.
At the second scream he put the book down, moving carefully to the main room to see what was going on through the large window where he'd mostly put the latest and most popular editions on display. It was difficult to see what was going on in the dark, especially seeing as Ivan's eyesight wasn't exactly optimal in the first place - but he saw the outlines of two nightbanes locked in battle. The source of the scream was apparently gone, as neither of the two seemed quite the sort to make it.
Someone shouted something, but he couldn't make out the word from his current position. He decided to open the door carefully to see if someone was in need of help, or an arse kicking, forgetting the bell supposed to warn him of impending costumers, now chiming cheerfully as he pushed the handle and opened it slightly.
"Oh, buggerit," he hissed, the corner of his lip twitching furiously. Though he would perhaps have been safer, had he closed and locked the door right then and there. However, he couldn't take the chance of another chime from the treacherous bell, in case someone had heard it, but not its location. Therefore, for now, he remained in the door, trying to spot the person shouting.

"And how much resources do you think that will take?" The second man asked, "To do what you're panning, we would waste all our resources, resources we need for the ACTUAL things. Winning the top spot would be nice, but almost impossible. This is merely a delay tactic... there's no way we can actually win."
This continued for a few minuted. Knoll spoke up, "If I may put in a word?" The others stopped, and started at the Mage, who then spoke. "Perhaps a merging of the plans is in order. Spread out 2 or three people into the different states, with the minimum amount of funding required. That way, we have more than one operative in the running for the various goverments but, at the same time, plenty of resources to continue on with the more important tasks. Rushing in to take out the Nightlord wouldn't work either: most of us would be eliminated. Our best bet is to merely keep him busy, preventing him from taking over every aspect of America." He said, and left without hearing their decision.
Arguments like that were becoming more common around here, now that the Seekers were becoming active. It was nothing violent, just confusion... they had never done anything like this before, so it was certinaly understandable. The other activities were going as smoothly as they ever did. Walking into one large room, various mages were busy at work, scanning for... something. The room was pporly lit, and the heavily drawn rune circles, completle with the flames around it, indicated something high-level. It seemed they were underway, so Knoll dared not interfere.
He found something to do, however, when he noticed a few seekers preparing for an expedition to the surfarce world. As he asked to join, he learned that there were a few humans, who had joined no faction, who was running from alley to alley. Apparently, they didn't get the memo that said: "Staying neutral may get you killed.' Thus, this was a recruiting mission. This was Nightlord territor that they would enter but, luckily, they were quickly moving away from it, witch would make the extraction go more smoothly.
Knoll offered to teleport everyone, using his Morphus ability, just outside the Nightlords sensory range and, from there, proceed on. Knoll knew to be careful: Nightlords had supreme detection ability. No magic at all, unless they were attacked. Then, Knoll guessed that they would have mere minutes to escape before one showed up.
Once they arrived Via dark corridor, they stayed closed together, well with the range of the others. Knoll led the team , where they quickly encountered the normal humans. They stared at the Seekers, like that had just seen a group of ghosts. Knoll stepped forward. "Be at ease, we mean you know harm. We have come to aid you."
As they didn't speak, Knoll stretched his arms. "We are Seekers, groups dedicated to progression of knowledge and magic. We noticed your movements, and came to offer our hands of assisstance. These streets are held sway by creatures of darkness: The demons, and those who control them. We the Seekers, have pledged to end this threat." Knoll said. HIs voice was a soothing, calm tone, yet one that displayed the facts. "The more we have, the swifter the day of judgement reigns upn those who wish for evil. Please, we request your assisstantance."
There was a low growl , and a shadowy figured appeared, walking on all fours. It's body was like no animals: there were sales instad of fur, with antlers that appeared to be scythes on it's back.
"A demon... get back." He ordered, still with the calm voice, and stepped in front of the humans. "Creature destined to live through darkness: Now, I, Knoll Shadowshade, come to send you beyond the final gate. Come, the enternal inferno awaits you." He said, taking a deep breath. His mind reaching for his PPE. After doing a base calulation, the spell he preformed was a quick one. He tapped one hand in the air, and his fingers sketched a small rune, witch hung in the air. after he finished, and did the same two more times. The glyphs connected in a perfect triangle,, and shrunk. Then, with another motion, an eve larger glyp appeared and, as Knoll pressed his hand on it, a single bolt of lightning shot out from the sky, impaling the demon through his scroll. Knoll lowered his hand, "We can't stay here... we have to leave... NOW!" Knoll said, as the group dashed in the direction of the exit. Knoll could already feel impending darkness closing in on them. His eye turned golden as he transformed an, with a burst of energy, sent everyone through.
He had taken them across the continet, to florida. Though this area was within range of a nightlord, they quickly ran out of the fringes of it's sensing ability and, a full 10 seconds later, returned to the Seeker's hideout. Knoll knelt on the floor, grasping for breath. It was INCREDIBLY hard to take so many people threw the corridor at so quick a pace. A minute later, he caught his breath, and went to introduce the new recruits.

It was only then that the hound noticed the other girl that had appeared. He could sense that her energy was all used up and thought it might be best to take the weaker target instead. So, suddenly the hound drew its attack back in mid swing and lept at the child thinking to snatch her up and fly off with her.

Unable to see anything, Sapphire knew she was completely defenceless. She could hear the sounds around her, and could tell that the hound was getting closer to her, but she couldn't defend herself. She was out of energy, and couldn't draw any more energy to use Nehru's sight. Sapphire tried to use her arms to cover what ever attack was coming to her but that wasn't much defence. Of course, everything bad always happened to her, first she stumbles upon this scene, and ends up transforming, then the next thing she knew she was about to be swept off and taken by a Hound. She let out a growl, hearing Nehru's hiss nearby, his presence coming closer and closer to Sapphire. Of course she couldn't draw any power from the shadow in her state, and she couldn't command him, meaning the shadow was free to do as it wished. With her arms still shielding her face she turned her head to the side, unsure of what would happen only knowing that things were not going as she wanted them to. She felt Nehru attack itself to her, clinging to her shadow and forcing her to fall onto the ground. She was unsure of the shadows motives but she was sure that he did it only to save Sapphire. "ow.." She mumbled, realizing the ground had scraped her knee a little. Sapphire was confused, wandering what was going on.

Moon nodded silently and hugged Sun.
"I won't, Sun. I promise. Cross my heart and hope to die."
Sun and Moon then went back to the instructor woman, catching the last bits of her speech about what was going to be going on. They then sat on a nearby couch that was away from everyone, hoping to keep the attention off themselves. They held hands and watched the other kids play around.
"What's going to happen to us, sister?"
"We'll learn to defend ourselves better so that we can live."
And with that, they both went silent. They hoped that the Seeker training would start soon so that they could begin to defend themselves without having to use their mecha forms. Sun pulled gently on Moon's arm as she stood up, bringing Moon with her to the bathroom. Sun then pulled a few things from her bag, such as clockwork gears and scrap metal. Moon nodded and transformed, quickly putting together a mechanical dagger. Moon then turned back, picking up the dagger and putting it in the bag. This was their habit, creating at least one thing a day. They stepped out of the bathroom and noticed that all of the other's were staring at them, even the instructor. Moon grabbed onto Sun's arm as one of the other kids walked up to them. The kid pulled a small gear from Moon's hair. Moon quickly stuttered.
"I-I'm sorry! We just like making things! It's a habit!"

In mid air, she shifted forms, cringing during the process but landing on her ugly curled legs. She spun, made a terrifyingly loud noise and fell too the ground once more in her facade. It was an ugly ing. She groaned, wincing and cringing and crawling upright once more. A person above her had stuck out their head and was staring at her. She simply looked back up, her eyes softening when she realized it was a kid. Her stomach rumbled once more.
She was alone in the alley now. No one around her to see her accept for the young person above her, whose mother quickly called him back inside the window for fear of what was outside and of his falling into the alley. Tempy clammed up for a single moment. Her hands quivered with a tenseness she new not of. She slowly, with barely a bend in her step, whisked herself from the New York alley. She wondered wether anyone else of her type was around.
In the mean time, she slowly rolled her hood up to cover her face while her hair hung around her cheeks, curling in front of her facade's form. She was nasty and cold on the inside. That is what ad why her morphus was what it was. An evil, ugly beast just like her. Or at least, that is how she felt. An ugly, lonely person. No, not even a person. Tempy was a monster. With this is mind, she walked down the streets, no one touching her or looking at her as she sulked slowly, her eyes aimed at the ground. She knew not of how to make magic work for her or how to use it in general. Is made it harder for her to control her own being, to preserve and protect alike. She slowly slid to a sit beside a stair well, frozen in thought and in silence all the same.

Quickly grabbing a black coat by the door, he decided it was best to make sure the young girl was okay. The transformation took practically no effort these days; despite the absolute agony it had taken him through the first time. He pulled up the hood of the jacket he wore beneath the coat, and stepped outside, hopefully without much sound, as he attempted to get behind the hound-like nightbane's back.

A thousand? A million? It didn't matter. He didn't even know who, or what, he was fighting for. He waited in the dark.
After many hours, he saw what he was looking for. A vision of the present, rather then then the fruitless glimpses of the future.
In his vision, he saw a young girl running after... something evil. It didn't even matter who was which race, he didn't care for night-banes at all. Marlamin focused and tried to see the surrounding area, to give any clues to where he should go, but none appeared.
He sighed. This was the third time he had a vision without any context. He slowly got up and started walking. He did not care where he went, or how long it would take. He only cared about finding where he was supposed to be. He had traveled through many cities and abandoned towns, but he was too late to help. Everything was either dead, dying, or fighting a losing battle.
As he walked towards the edge of the forest, he saw his faithful owl, Lightbreather. It stood on a branch in a tall tree, looking down at Marlamin. They stared at each other for an abnormally long amount of time. Marlamin started walking and said "Come. We should get to work."
He created a small ball of light, instantly lighting up the entire area around him, and started walking into the night. Lightbreather flew off the branch, cautiously.
"Are you alright?" said Marlamin, "You seem worried, lets keep moving."
The owl bit him hard on the hand, and flew high into a tree.
"Whats wrong with youβ½" He said sharply as he healed his hand. "Is there something here?"
The owl nodded. and pointed his head towards the woods.
"Oh shit..." he muttered under his breath. "We need to leave now!" He ran away from the woods with his owl flying as fast as he could behind him.

There was a simultaneous boom as each team breached their door and swarmed into the Night Prince's mansion. Then the sound of splintering wood turned to the torrent of gunfire. Bullets flew this was and that as the teams brought down doppelganger servants left and right. However, something wasn't right. It was too easy. None of the teams had seen any hounds or hunters in or outside the building. As the resistance members closed on the Night Princes door only then did they realize their mistake.
The door was breached from the inside and the doorman was sent flying back. Instinctively the teams changed into their Morphus' and prepared for the worst. Unfortunately this situation was the worst case scenario. A menacing laugh came through the haze of dust caused by the falling dust and each member readied themselves.
"Welcome to my web said the spider to the flies," the voice called out as the smoke cleared. Two more Nightbane were drawn into the room by an unseen force and then only cries of anguish were heard along with the crunching of bone and sinew. When their opponent finally became visible the six foot, two inch tall Nightlord Moloch stood with their bodies broken and twist at his side.
"Shit," Red Leader cursed, "An avatar. We've been had! Pull back! Pull back!"
"Do you think I'd let you?" Moloch's avatar chuckled as he made another gesture toward the captain. At the same time Blue Leader made a movement of his own and the only visible effect that had transpired was an irritated look on the avatar's face. "So you have a Psychic Barrier, clever," he complimented. The avatar drew a glyph in the air and then traced a circle around it. He chanted a few words in an unknown language and suddenly a large fireball materialized in mid-air. The avatar waved his hand forward and sent the ball of fire hurtling towards the Nightbane.
"Grab my hand!" Rogue Leader called out as the fireball impacted the group, or so the avatar thought. But as the explosion cleared the only thing damaged was the newly scorched wooden floor. The avatar cursed in agitation knowing the Resistance had once against narrowly escaped his grasp.
"Next time," Moloch told himself. "Next time."

She slid onto her feet and glanced around. Her gaze faltered on a sandwich shop. Anything was better than nothing. She wasn't rich and she wasn't poor. Middle Class was a good place for Tempy, either way. Her hood hung over her head still and she walked slowly towards the door way, sliding through the door just to come back out, shaking her head. People where staring at her from inside the shop, jaws clenched and eyes rolling in their skulls. Tempy hated people who yelled at her. Especially store clerks who denied her food just because she looked like she was poor and she would steal. It was insulting.
So, Temperance walked down the side walk. New York had begun to be a bore to her. The Library was always open, but they shushed her when she scuffed the carpet. Tempy's eyes wandered slowly. Their brown hue picking up the colors it could, which where dull and bored. Her hands where in her pockets and she thought what she could do about this boredom. One, she could walk somewhere else. That would take forever and make her feet hurt. Two, she could bike somewhere else. It would take less time but hurt just as much. Three, she could take a bus somewhere else. People would be on that bus, god knows what could happen then. Four, she could drive somewhere else. She didn't have a car. Five, she could fly somewhere else. Again with the people.
Tempy had no option but to stay in New York where the worst of the worst lived along with a few of the best. She hated this place, but she hadn't anywhere or anyone else to prove her wrong. This is what made her angry and her head drooped. She wondered if she would find anyone here who was like her. She'd lived here for enough time now that she figured she should know who was what but it made no sense to her that there was no one like her. There had to be someone. There simply had to be. Her eyes trailed around once more, passing over the few people on the street or side walk while she walked. Maybe he was like her, or maybe she was. You couldn't tell, which made it harder. She had heard about a few different things for the Nightbane. Things like an Underground Railroad and safe havens but she hadn't the slightest clue where those were. Even if she knew, it wasn't like she'd go there. She could barely control her humanity let alone her anger. She could hurt someone who was trying to help her. So, she remained secluded until further notice, her eyes washing her surroundings once more with flashes of dull color and splashes of gray.
She turned down a paved path and walked into a building, then up the stairs and onto the same roof of which she had sat on before. She slid down, leaning against the door and watching as everything moved around her with no intention of moving herself about. She wasn't lazy, she was just in intense thought. She wanted to know. Where was everyone else anyways? She would find them soon enough at least.

When she turned to him, he shook his head, indicating that he wasn't in need of any healing. Talking, though possible, was incredibly difficult in this form. Neither did it sound particularly nice when he decided to do so. The downsides of an anatomy shared with a dried up corpse, he mused internally.

He tapped his table, activating a magic circled he placed there ages ago: witch displayed a detailed map of the us, completle with territorys of the different Nightlords, as well as various lists of resources, and pathways known only to the seekers. Ke looked to where he had been, and stared at it. The territory was growing., no doubt about it. They would have to do something soon, or else.

As she made it clear the offer had been for the both of them, he hesitated. He couldn't exactly say that business had been booming since everything happened, and he was in danger of getting killed every night. To join the Underground Railroad did seem like a logical choice, and Ivan was far from a peaceful man. He changed back as Ciel checked her transmission, catching the last of her murmured monologue as he retrieved his glasses from his coat pocket. Just in case, he kept the hood.
"Is there a problem at the other end?" he inquired, his voice quite pleasant in his facade form, but with a fair amount of nervousness playing around the edges.

Re: [OOC] Nightbane
@Bones Your character looks pretty good, but you need more detail in his personality. Also, I'm not doing this as an actual Nightbane game. Its in roleplay format so there's no need to put dice damage for your weapons. Also, I'm not too informed about Geomantic Immortals as I've only read the first book and the wormwood expansion a bit. So because of this could you just make him a mage? You don't have to be a Seeker though.

Re: [OOC] Nightbane
What do the nightlords think the guardians as? Threat-wise.
And approximately how many of each more powerful minions are there?
Sorry for so many questions!
Re: [OOC] Nightbane
Minions
Night Princes: Ba'al-Zebul are the highest ranking minions of the Nightlords and are masters of illusion. 80
Avatars: The Ba'al possess the ability to create a being that is a lesser version of itself. These are very powerful and are usually loyal to the Ba'al that created them. 90
Doppelgangers: Supernaturally strong copies of humans, they dwell in the Nightlands and live their lives in a haze unless something awakens them. They are considered playthings for the Ba'al if actual humans are not available. They have lower Potential Psychic Energy and minor psychic abilities (but a low incidence of master psionics). They are usually the opposite of their human counterparts on Earth. 20
Ashmedai: Shapeshifting worm-like monsters. 30
The Hollow Men: Bug-like creatures that create humanoid constructs to move about in. 15
Hounds: The shock troops, these armored warriors are the core of the Ba'al fighting force. 40
Hunters: Winged versions of the Hounds. 60
Great Hounds: A twelve-foot high version of the Hounds. 70
Doppelganger Warlord: A more powerful version of the Doppelganger. When a Doppelganger proves itself to their Nightlord Masters, they go through an alchemical process to be transformed into a Warlord. 50

Re: [OOC] Nightbane
As for where things can go, I'd like to find a way to get some of your characters together and eventually I'd like to have a final culmination of a fight with the Nightlord Moloch. This will come much later of course. I think I'm going to make some more NPCs for leaders of the Resistance and the like so you can have more to interact with. If anyone has any plot ideas I'm open for suggestions. Don't worry I don't bite.

Re: [OOC] Nightbane
Oh, one things I forgot to mention. The hound isn't a Nightbane, though your characters might not know that. It's a minion of the Nightlords brought over from the Nightlands. It is and always has been a monster.

I don't think I wrote too much, but I will write some more soon.
