"Hmm?" Lina looked up with a dimpled smile to see Cortez, offering a light wave with greasy, blackened hands. Cortez was a sweety even though he was spoiled - Lina had been rather taken by him for a while, though she was far too shy to say anything to him. Cataleia was always dropping hints for Cortez or training Lina how to interact with people she fancies. The results were always disastrous. Lina really just wasn't a people person. Even when she was working at Stark tower, Tony and Pepper had given her an entire floor to invent, build, and research. The only people she worked alongside comfortably were Tony, Pepper, Melody, Bruce, Benjamin, her brother, her father, Cataleia, Peter, and Zalika.

She wiped her hands on her jeans and grabbed her gloves, putting them on. Her power was one that generally required her to touch people or things to work in most cases, but after practice, she was able to touch inanimate objects with her hands without triggering a vision. She hated having to wear sweaters, jackets, gloves, and pants all the time in public because even the slightest brush against someone would trigger a vision if their skin contacted people. So she didn't really hug people, nor did she kiss, and rarely did she hold hands. It wasn't that she didn't want to. She just didn't like the emotional overload that came with the visions.

She turned back to her car with a smile. "I just fitted her with a new arc cannon. I'm working on a tractor beam. Whadaya think?" Her accent was lightly Italian, her voice soft as she reached into her car, tinkering with the engine.

Back in the lobby, Cataleia was laughing softly in a small circle or friends and new people as they all exchanged funny stories. A boy named Justin was just telling everyone how his ex best friend tried to hit on a girl, but Justin possessed his mind and made him tell the girl that he had herpes and a bad case of the clap for the fifteenth time in the past two months. Fucking hilarious!

Cataleia's face was as red as a cherry as she gasped for air. The dark-haired boy was smirking in victory as everyone turned red and guffawed like a pack of rapid hyenas. Cataleia's laughter was cut short as she felt arms around her waist pulling her into the empty hallway behind her. She inhaled deeply, filling her nostrils with the scent of Antonio Banderas Spirit cologne, Downy, and the light hint of grease. It was her...what was he to her? They dated on and off before and they slept together sometimes, but...she wouldn't say that he was her boyfriend or her lover. Silas was her best friend.

With benefits.

She.turned around in his arms and wrapped him.in a tight hug, basking in his scent. "That was the shortest speech I have ever heard." He looked down with those big chocolate orbs that were filled with adoration. Silas loved Cataleia with every fiber of his being; even though she was a century younger than him. He was enraptured by her beauty and her leadership. Plus the sex was great. She smiled up at him and chuckled. "But inspiring. And that's what matters."

"I thought it was great." Buck Rogers had come down the hallway, smiling softly as Cataleia gently pushed herself from Silas' arms to give Buck a tight hug. "Hey! What are you doing here?" Buck held her tightly, rubbing her back. "Your dad sent me. Benjamin should be here shortly. Aliyah is on mission with her parents." Buck had been sent specifically to guard Cataleia - And he sure as hell wasn't complaining. Cataleia ignored the possessive growl coming from Silas behind her. "Yes, because I need some big, strong man to protect me." She didn't mean for it to sound as bitchy as it had come out, but she wasn't pleased with her father sending body guards. She was Agent of the year five years in a row! She could handle her own.

Before Buck could explain, she was gone, storming up to her room to have a serious talk with her father. Buck and Silas were left to stare down before aggressively pushing past each other to go mingle.

Above everyone was a young man with dusty blonde hair, sitting with perfect balance on the chandelier, scanning the crowd for his aunt. His gleaming yellow eyes were soul-piercing and filled with loathing. All these people were here because of humans. Not his mother. Filthy, disgusting, stupid humans. He glared mostly at Buck - To Markus, he was just a lab rat. Like his goody-goody dad. Captain America. Pfft. Buck didn't belong here.

He watched closely as the African Princess strode about, keeping the order as people got their fill of food, got their room assignments, and slowly began to disperse. He looked away in disgust as the LeBeau boy sent a blush across the cheeks of an older blonde male. "Fucking queers." He hissed under his breath.

Cortez grinned. He wasn't particularly good with those things. So he had a vague idea of what she was talking about. "Uh," He said with a laughed. "That's cool...though, to be honest I have very little clue as to what that does but It's really cool that you do." He said and felt a little blow to his male ego. Though Cortez was all male, he was a gentler one. Not that he wouldn't stand up for himself or fight back if need be. He just wasn't particularly good with his hands...there were girls who would object to that but that's beside the point.

He walked up to her. Keeping a respectable distance, he knew she wasn't really comfortable around people. It was a shame really. she was awfully cute. Not just attractive but cute in an 'D'aww' sort of way. She was likeable and sweet. But unfortunately she was a child of circumstance...Victim was probably a better term, her life experience -coupled with her ability- made her anti-social and closed off. He hoped one day she would open to. More specifically, he hoped he could be the one she'd open up to.

"Uh, Could you maybe explain to me what that means?"

Zoey found the White Haired Princess, walking around and quickened her pace to catch up to her. She tugged on her arm but pulled away quickly. Child-like habits die hard.
"Sorry, Uh..." She said. "I'm Zoey. I'm new. I uh...well..." She stammered. She wasn't sure how the Princess would take it Zoey wanting to get close to her seeing as she was the only African -Zoey was only half but still- around. Zoey felt a kinship in that. She wanted her to be some what of a mother figure. As strange as that sounded. "Um...Is it, uh. Okay if maybe...you could...um..."She sighed. "Be like um...someone I could talk to?...It's weird I know but, You are...we are....Ugh. Nevermind. Sorry to bother you." She said nervously dropping her head. She was never this nervous but this woman's presence was something else. It drew Zoey in. Something about her made Zoey want to follow. That and Zoey's childlike subconscious liked that fact that she was an actual princess.

Florence

Florence sat by herself as she listened to Cateleia's little speech. Well, she didn't listen very closely but she did catch a few things from the woman. And once it was over she clapped, but not very loudly. Not compared to the other mutants in the room. She could feel the emotions in the room mostly consisting happiness, pride, and joy. It actually started to hurt her head with how many of them were feeling the same exact thing. And, there wasn't one person in the room that was sad at the time. Unless they were crying tears of joys. Her? She was happy but, apathy also was in her as well. She was proud to be a mutant, she truly was but it was because of her "gift" that got her kicked out of her house and made her live on the streets. That's where she found her actually family, sure it may have been a gang but they were just like her. They all got kicked out of their homes because of their powers but then they found the gang. They were just like a family and for eight years it was. Until the raid. That raid was easily the worst day of her life. She had to hide as she watched her family and best friends be killed. She felt like a coward. She should have fought back, and she died at least they would die together. But, no, she hid like a child and she felt ashamed since. "I miss you guys."

After that she had nowhere to go. So, she decided to come to Xavier where she knew that she would be protected from any humans who might want to try and kill her. She had been here only a couple months and she chose to go a bit unseen. Not many people actually knew anything about her other than her first name and her power. She wanted to keep it that way. She watched as everyone walked out and went their seperate ways and after everyone exited to large room. She got up from her seat and grabbed her small bag that she on the floor next to her foot, putting the strap around her shoulder before walking out. She looked and made sure she had everything in her bag as before, a pad of plain paper, her black pens, and her colored markers that she used to draw on the palms of her hands. Florence walked out of the room with her black sneakers hitting the floor and she decided to just go walk around, see what she could find.

She started to walked past the garage and before hearing talking from the other side. If she was nosey person she would have went inside or tried to get inside but, no. She has more maturity than that. She walked a bit more and took a seat on the floor with a smirk on her face. She just wanted to be somewhere quiet but now she wanted to be able to see who was in the room. She took out her paper and three black pens before she started to work on a drawing she's had seen two weeks ago. Looking at it for the first time people, mostly little Miss. Sunshine, Melody Stark thought it was a bit disturbing. But, Flor didnt draw to please. She drew because it was the one place she didn't give a damn bout what people thought.

Melody

Melody sat up straight as their leader spoke. She her infamous bright smile on her face that she got from her father. Her legs were crossed as she listened closely to Catelina and once she was done, Melly clapped and cheered just like everyone else in the room, well almost everyone except little Miss. Downer who decided to stay in her seat and clap. She looked over and saw Cortez and his little sister, oey clapping as well. She knew that Cor was proud to be a mutant which made her like his attitude. Melody looked back towards the group of people she was with and watched as the exited the room, following close behind the small group of young adults with a technology based power as well. She luckly had no problems making friend but she didn't know if they were real friends or if they wanted to learn more about her family. Either way, she didn't care, she had friends didn't she?

The small group consisting of two girls and three guys, decided they wanted to go to the lobby just to talk to each other and see what they could do with their powers. She shook her head and told them how she wanted to go back to her room and listen to some new music she got. One of the guys who caught her eye once coming to Xaiver, Jonah nudged her alittle as he looked at her with dark brown eyes with a small smile on his face "Yea, come on, Melly have a little social time. You can listen to music in the night." Melody smiled at her little puppy crush and the rest of a group and sighed. "Ok, ok. Fine." She said as she nudged Jonah back as hard as she could but, with how small and petite she was it wasn't very hard. Jonah put an arm around the red head girl with a smile on his face as he put his other hand through his matching dark brown hair.

The group walked into the lobby and took a couple seat all in a circle as they began to talk. "Look it's our fearless leader." One of the other girls name Sunny said as she slipped a piece of her fine black hair behind her ear. Sunny was easily one of the most attractive girls, Melody has seen in her life. She was around 5'9 and looked like that perfect Asian model her mother was. She was also one of the sassiest people too. The only thing is that Sunny didn't really like being at Xavier sometimes. Seeing that she was a trust fund baby. Melody turned her body towards the other louder group to see Catelina and Silas along with a couple of their friends. She smiled at the girl before returning her attention back to Jonah and her own group.

Zoey looked up as Zalika spoke. Spit it out, Stupid. She baraided herself mentally. She sighed heavily. She wasn't used to being so nervous. She wasn't one for holding back either. She took a quick breath. She wanted a mother figure, a mentor. She knew what she wanted and she was gonna get it.
She looked the Princess in her eyes. "I'd like to become your apprentice." She stated, her eyes unwavering. "It's a strange request, I'm aware but...I believe you could help me." She said. Zoey had the makings of a great public speaker in her but she lacked the power to control a crowd. The pull that she felt from Zalika. She wanted that ability. Zalika had a regal aire about her -aside from being royal-. Zoey wanted that.
"I lack that presence you do when you around others. You make me want to follow you. I want to be able to do that too. Maybe if I learn, then I can help stop that hatred that plagues us all." She said. Her eyes never leaving hers. "My mother and father abandoned my brother. They hardly knew what to do with me, they pushed me into acting so they didn't have to worry about me and make money at the same time. Then when I found that I was a mutant too. The look on their faces..." Zoey closed her eyes and clenched her fists. "They didn't want to even look at me. I tried to explain that me and Cortez, that we were still us but...they didn't want to listen." She said and looked up again, her eyes glossed a bit from tears she didn't let fall. "But if I can gain the same pull that you do. That same leadership aire that you have. Then maybe I could make them look at me. Maybe I could get them and others to listen." She said. "Please, Princess Zalika. Will you teach me how to be like you?"

Cortez nodded. "Ah Cool" He said as Lina spoke. She looked so nervous suddenly. He wondered then if Lina maybe liked him. She was always a bit nervous but not really when she was going on about cars and bikes and things he had no hopes of every understanding. She was right at home. So what made her blush so hard. He hadn't said anything? Did he?
Suddenly a deep rumbling voice came from behind him and made her hair stand on end. "Whoa!" He stiffened some and then turned. He turned to see her brother standing before him. He relaxed. "Jesus man, You scared the crap out of me." He said dramatically catching his breath. He laughed. Now he knew why she got so nervous. Well sorta. Her brother was just as protective of her and Cortez was of Zoey so he could see why though Cortez didn't say or do anything to give her cause for worry. In Fact, He had nothing to fear from her brother. He was a large man and like his father was not to be trifled with but Cortez wasn't flirting. In fact, he was just coming to talk to his friend...who he happened to like...but that was neither here nor there. "Lina here was trying to explain this all to me because I'm a poetry nerd and haven't the slightest idea what the hell half this stuff is" He said with a laugh. That was a defense mechanism for Cortez, making fun of himself when he felt intimidated. Honestly, Cortez felt a little useless. His powers weren't all that spectacular. He couldn't control the weather, heal himself, stick to walls. None of that. He could simply read a book...and not that well. He was dyslexic after all. "Anywho, What's up, man. How's it hanging?"

Zoey listened to Zalika. She didn't flinch when she snapped at her. Her eyes never moved from hers. She just listened to the Princess as she spoke. Absorbing what she said. Zoey began to think. It was true that Zalika was scary but maybe that's what drawn her to her. For Zoey , she said it this way.
If she really didn't like her she could have simply ignored her. If she were truly feared the way she said, she would not be married lest her husband was either seriously whipped or twisted in his own right. No. Zalika probably wanted to be that way and therefore push people away and it would work on most people. Say for someone light hearted and naive like Cortez would have stammered but No. Not Zoey. She was young but she was mature and not only that.
She liked a challenge.
Princess Zalika was definitely that and she would be her mentor.
One way or another. If child like tactics didn't work, which for Zoey, it usually did. She'd find some way to get her way. Some would call that spoiled. Maybe she was but Zoey didn't care for labels.

Throwing away her child like act of stammering and begging for empathy. Zoey's entire presence changed. From then on, Zoey treated this conversation like a chess match. Which Zoey took a little pride in. She got Zalika's attention. Not only that, She got her to talk to her, tell her what she liked and didn't and she'd given her a choice. She'd fallen for Zoey's gambit and now Zoey had the advantage.
Zoey's eyes never left Zalika's. “I didn't ask for a mother. I asked for a mentor.” She said, playing toward Zalika's wanting of respect. “I prefer fear.” She said simply. She knew this next play was a dangerous one. This would either get her killed or exactly want she wanted. Either way. She'd have Zalika's undivided attention.
“As for my abilities. I believe that is for you to decide.” She said and touched her hands to Zalika's arm. The world around them shifted and they were standing in Zoey's old bed room. “ You may shoot me for this, but, I figured. Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” She said feigning humility. She smiled at the Princess.

Cortez looked at Silas. “O-Kay, Hello to you too.” He said rubbing the back of his neck. “ Anyway, Lina, I just wanted to let you know Zoey's sa-” It was then he felt a pulse. He had a strange connection to Zoey and he could tell when something wasn't right. It wasn't like he was knew if she was in trouble and it wasn't like he knew anything specific. He just knew something wasn't right. She was up to something. Zoey could be scary sometimes. He sighed. Ah...Zoey...What the hell? He thought. “ Uh, Sorry. Safe. Is what I was going to say. If you wanted to finally meet her.” he said with a shrug. She and Zoey hadn' t met yet. Cortez would talk non-stop about them to each other them, so it was about time they met.
