Once powerful demons, all feared in their own right, are banished from the Underworld for foolish mistakes. With nowhere else to go and a year to waste, they make their way into the lives of the living. But what are demons with supernatural abilities supposed to do for a year in the human world? New York City seems like a good place to look for some answers. And they soon find them when they come across a group of young humans. But even as a demon you have to be careful in a world full of humans.

They're just average teenagers in high school. Some are popular, some are nerds and some are in between. But they're friends nonetheless. They go to school and get good (or sometimes poor) grades so they can get a job and be successful. Living in New York City, where abnormal is the norm, they're not phased by anything. Except maybe, the demons that have been following them around. On impulse, they agree to pair off with the demons and let them live with them.

But when the demons demand to go to school and live under your parents roof, keeping their true nature hidden proves to be an impossible task.
