The small 6 year old boy curiously peeked his head out of the room he was currently playing in to see his father, the King, greet another grown man happily. They seemed to take to each other when his father turned, and caught the boy's wandering eyes. "Richmond.. come here." He said in a fatherly tone, that the boy never objected to. "This is my son, Richmond." The other man held out his hand, and Richmond shook it shakily. "No need to fear the man, son. He is a friend. " Richmond swallowed, and looked at his father briefly before his eyes met with a girl's.

She seemed to duck behind her father's legs, as what appeared to be her mother, holding a child appeared. The grownups continued to chat, and Richmond had just gathered up his courage to ask the maiden if she wanted to play with his toys. But alas, the girl was taken away by her parents, and Richmond smiled at her friendly, offering a small wave. His father chuckled as he patted his son's back before scooping him up in his arms. "She'll be your playmate before long, son. " He chuckled, and Richmond grew excited at the thought of a friend.

- 13 Years Later -

Richmond was walking along, his sword bouncing on his right thigh as he strode through the castle confidently. It was just him and his Father, except for the past three weeks. The neighboring Kingdom, Padlin, had come to visit. With it brought Guinevere, her mother, and her sister. The ladies whom ruled the smaller Kingdom whom Talwen held close to it. Richmond knew exactly why his father was pushing him and Guinevere together soo much lately. It was to unite the kingdoms, for there was talk of rebel kingdoms surrounding them, and he wanted to be ready for a possible war in the near future.

It was chilly out in the darkness of the night, and he was sweaty from riding his horse around the village. He was completing guard training as every good Prince does. He had to complete the training for his Father, as he was the heir to the throne. It was his job to run the Kingdom soon, and provide the next heir to relieve him. By the muskiness of the air, he could smell the wonderful scents of wine and possibly pork roast brewing in the Royal Kitchens.

Soon enough, he had taken a shower, and changed into a more regal dining outfit. He strutted in the halls, and pivoted into the Throne Room, as his cape seemed to gain altitude, where everyone seemed to be discussing something. With an eyebrow raised, he strode up the stairs slowly, and stood by his Father. "Pardon me, your Royal Highnesses." He bowed gracefully, and looked at all of the lovely women before him, Guinevere particularly gaining his attention. The last thing he'd admit was that his Father made the perfect match for Richmond, as Guinevere was everything he dreamed of in a woman.

"I apologize for my crude lateness. It won't happen again, miladies, Father." He nodded to each of them, before kissing Guinevere's hand ever so delicately with his soft lips.

"Come along Guinevere." Charles prodded his eldest daughter out of the carriage. Guinevere peeked her head out the door before jumping into her Fathers arms with a giggle. Charles carefully put his Daughter on the ground taking her hand. "I'll be there shortly dear." Melissa smiled gently at him soothing the younger of the sisters who had awoken quite unhappy.

Guinevere immediately moved slightly behind her Father's leg when she saw another fully grown man standing in front of them, he was dressed like her Father, with a crown and everything. When the young boy came out, Guinevere ducked behind her father, the man had called the boy Richmond. She was about to follow the boy to play when her Mother took her hand pulling her back, she stood respectfully beside her parents again.

"Guinevere can play with you tomorrow Richmond." Her Father reassured, Guinevere smiled at Richmond before taking her Fathers hand waving at the boy before following them down to their chambers.

- 13 Years Later -

"Guinevere, don't you look wonderful." Guinevere smiled at her mothers greeting when she entered the Room.
"Thank you mother."

Guinevere carefully hugged her Mother and hugged her sister giving Lucille a gentle kiss on the head before turning to the King, he was her equal now, something she often forgot, she had spent most of her life bowing to him, now it was a simple nod of acknowledgement between the two.

Guinevere settled in her chair chatting off to the side with her sister who giggled at something Guinevere had said. "Gwen!" Lucille giggled, Guinevere simply smile at her sister.

"I apologize for my crude lateness. It won't happen again, miladies, Father."

Guinevere glanced at Richmond and smiled slightly, their parents had been pushing them together recently, their bond as children had been strictly playmates, now they were trying to push them into being lovers, which Guinevere wouldn't admit, but it had been working. She felt her cheeks heat up when Richmond kissed her hand, and knew they were probably a nice shade of pink. They hadn't kissed, hadn't done more than walk in each others company, chat, and on occasion flirt. Guinevere hoped they would kiss soon.

Once dinner started everyone was talking, Guinevere was more focused on eating, but would look up every once and a while at Richmond who had sat across from her, he said something to her and she laughed, respectfully covering her mouth as she did so.

It wasn't even his best joke, and Guinevere had let out a laugh, covering her mouth from across the table. "Aye, I apologize." He nodded to his father, who was staring a hole through his head. "Since you two seem to be finished with dinner, why don't you show Guinevere around..." He paused, looking towards her mother. "Alone." He snarked, and Richmond hated when he did that. "Yes, your Highness." He stood gracefully, bowing towards him, then walking to the other side of the table where he held his arm out, and walked Guinevere out of the dining room altogether.

"What is it the lady wishes to see first?" He smiled towards her, and walked slowly as they were in the quiet, bare hall. It had pictures of past Kings and such on the walls, far too enormous to be considered normal. They honestly gave him chills, but he wouldn't admit that to a girl. "Perhaps.. the gardens?" He charmingly smiled, as they walked out of the double doors, and he felt a cool breeze sighing through the air. "I see it has grown colder since I was last outside today." He mumbled, and continued walking along with her on his arm. "I have to admit. With a such a beauty on my arm, I feel much more.. confident, and heroic." He looked down, and bit his lip.

They walked for at least half an hour before coming to a bench, where he nodded towards it, and he let her sit, before sitting himself next to her, his arm still locked with his. In silence, he looked down at their arms, and he put his hand on her upper arm, where it slid all the way to her fingertips, where he entangled his fingers with hers.

"I have to admit. With a such a beauty on my arm, I feel much more.. confident, and heroic."

Guinevere glanced at him and smiled, Richmond always called her beautiful. Many did, but from Richmond it was different, it sounded true coming from him, while from others it almost seemed like an obligation, something they had to do.

The feeling of Richmond's hand trailing down her arm and linking fingers with hers made Gwen shiver. "The gardens are wonderful." Guinevere commented, she looked at Richmond biting her lower lip lightly. His hand was warm in hers, it gave her a great sense of security.

She carefully crossed her legs, she found now a days she couldn't sit comfortably without her legs crossed, it had been drilled into her so many times it was almost impossible for her not to sit with them crossed, but it was only "Proper" as her Mother put it. Her Father would always laugh and tell her that Melissa never used to cross he legs when they were younger, just to cheer Gwen up.

"The castle has changed, since we were children." Guinevere looked at Richmond, he had wonderfully blue eyes. "It's bigger then I remember it."

"If you look at it that way.." Richmond charmingly plastered a smirk on his face and looked at her wonderfully bright eyes. "a lot of things have changed since we were children." He bit his lip barely, doubting Guinevere even noticed it. "Things like.. us. We're practically rulers all our own now, and adults. Adults.. develop feelings rather quickly, don't they?" He was almost certain he sounded like the 6 year old boy who waved shyly at her those years ago.

The intensity at which they were staring into the other's eyes was heart throbbing, and he felt his pulse sky rocket, making his hand squeeze hers in a way that can only be described as loving. Her hand fit in his like a puzzle piece, and it just felt warm to the touch. "Guinevere.." He muttered, almost certain he sounded as if he was out of breath, his heart was beating out of his chest.

"I.. can't explain.. what I want to say." Their foreheads just a second away from each other, and his skin touched hers. His pupils were dilated, and his hand squeezed hers again. "Pardon me." He mumbled, as his lips secured their rightful place atop hers, and he full out kissed the maiden before him. His body relaxed, and he turned his body to face towards her instead of straight ahead, his hand that was holding hers was now resting on her upper right arm, pulling her towards him.

Guinevere's breath caught when Richmond kissed her, he had pulled her towards him and now they were chest to chest, she gently rested her hand on his shoulder. When they broke they only seemed to breath for a second before joining in another kiss. Her heart was racing, and her breathing uneven when they broke apart.

Guinevere remained close to Richmond, slowly opening her eyes to look into his. It seemed everyone had been waiting for that moment, Guinevere knew their parents would be thrilled if their parents even knew, but somehow their parents seemed to know everything. "A lot has changed since we were children." Guinevere agreed with a small laugh, kissing him one more time.

Richmond greeted her kisses with passionate ones of his own, and smiled at her comment. "Yes.. yes it has." He agreed solemnly, before placing his hand on her cheek, and deepening the kiss some, as his other hand rested on her hip. "I suppose.." He caught some of his breath. "I suppose our parents are quite the matchmakers of the Kingdoms." He chuckled heartily, and just looked in her eyes, before taking his hand and running it through her hair. "I just wish we wouldn't be burdened with the constant asking of a proposal now that it seems we are of romantic relations." He sighed through his nose. "Nonetheless, I'd be happy if that was the only kiss I'd received for the rest of my days." He smiled warmly.

His face then looked shocked. "You aren't in relations with any other Prince, are you?" After her answer, he relaxed, and smiled towards her. "Perhaps.. we could spend more time together now, since our parents openly push us together, anyhow." He suggested, then intertwined his hand in hers again as it was. "I must say, you are quite the kisser, your Highness." He grinned, winking.

"I must say, you are quite the kisser, your Highness."

Guinevere laughed." Surprising, I've never kissed anyone before." Guinevere laughed at how shocked Richmond seemed. "I have had many try, but... My Mother insisted I already belonged to someone, you, and I kept true to that." Guinevere smiled. "It seems she was right, and that our parents are wonderful match makers."

Guinevere smiled at him gently running her thumb over his cheek, a smile of admiration and love coming across her face.

"Of your feelings are true, then why don't we announce an engagement?" He seemed a little nervous. "it takes months to plan a royal wedding anyway, and if one of us feels uncomfortable we can just call it off." He grinned towards her, chuckling slightly. "What do you say, Guinevere?" He smiled lovingly towards her, his hands fiddling with her fingers.

Guinevere nodded at Richmond's offer. She met his lips with a kiss, this is what everyone wanted, this was what she wanted.

~*~

The announcement had been cause for celebration, and a celebration they had. The ball seemed over run by people, but Guinevere was happy she got to spend the night by Richmond's side, happy she got to spend the rest of her life at his side, as his Queen. "Everyone is so excited." Guinevere whispered, she smiled at Richmond taking his hand, she gently kissed his cheek and heard a few people comment around them at how perfect they looked together. Guinevere blushed at their comments and laughed slightly, smiling at Richmond.

He smiled, feeling like a King, as she kissed his cheek. He acknowledged the comment proudly as if Guinevere was a little girl hiding behind him. He surveyed the happy and energetic ball room before him and suddenly heard a loud crash into the wall, and screams from citizens as well as horses whinnying. "Guards!" Richmond roared when he saw smoke start to crawl into the ballroom, indicating a fire from the carriage. The guards inspected the carriage as the guards who made rounds outside of the castle found where there had been a hole cut out. The carriage held a familiar symbol, only to come from the North, a large enemy kingdom known as Rhoden.

Richmond, with Guinevere on his warm inspected the carriage from afar. "It's Rhoden. They're starting another war."

Guinevere stood close to Richmond. "Gwen!" Lucille ran over to her sister standing slightly behind her, she didn't understand how her sister was acting so calm, but she could tell thats what she was doing acting, as her breathing was labored and uneven. "Its alright, we are all going to be fine." Everyone seemed to quiet down when Guinevere started speaking, something she did not expect.

"Everyone, move towards the Royal sleeping chambers, it is furthest away from the front of the castle, and well guarded. Move carefully and quietly we have enough time to get there." Melissa moved to where her daughters were standing holding each of them close as the people started filtering out in a quiet panic. "Please tell me the King has sent men to cut Rhoden off." Melissa simply nodded, the four of them were now surrounded by guards, enough guards that they would be out of harms way for the time being. As the guards started moving forward Guinevere took her sisters hand and gave her a reassuring smile, they were all going to be fine.

He and his now family were relocated to the royal chambers where they were kept under lock and key. With an interesting look, he had his nose buried in her hair as they stood, thinking of what strategies to do. Then, as he knew it, his world was crumbling down. Armed with a sword in hand and nothing else, he found himself and his father jumping in from of the women, as enemy guards came barging in.

It was the longest night of his life. His father had died in his arms after the raid was long over, and he and his father had left the women in a locked room as they searched out the castle. There was a hidden guard who managed to stab his father, before Richmond could stop it. Tears in his eyes, he walked along the bloodied, full of dead bodies halls, trying to find his way back to his Guinevere. "Guinevere!" He rasped and his arm throbbed, his attire was bloodied and his skin was bruised from all or the fighting. Then, it seemed as the raid was not yet over, as a large pounding sound could be heard. Rhoden was launching catapults at the weak castle. His heart beat quickened as he was struggling to find the women who had moved from where he left them.

"Guinevere!" He yelled still looking around when a wall collapsed in, the castle was starting to crumble. He blacked out as eh ear the castle crumbling behind him as he ran out, certain his love had died somewhere in the war. "Guinevere.." He choked as he laid on his back in the grass.

"I believe you are looking for the Queen." The Prince of Rhoden gave Richmond a wicked smile holding a dagger loosely at her throat, Guinevere's dress was bloodied, the Prince had seriously wounded her Mother right before her eyes, and dragged Guinevere away from her family before she could do anything.

When he was sure Richmond was watching, he carefully moved Guinevere's hair back from her neck pressing a kiss there, Guinevere tensed immediately. "Don't touch me." Guinevere almost growled at him, struggling in his grip. "Ah, move any closer and she dies." Guinevere looked at Richmond, feeling like she would be sick when the Prince kissed her neck a few more times, he was taunting Richmond, Rhoden and Talwen had never been friends, and Richmond and Joshua she believed the Prince's name was had always been rivals, for everything, Even for her at one point, but Guinevere had never considered Joshua a part of her life except for another diplomat she had to deal with.

Richmond's eyes grew at everything happening right before him and he couldn't help the way he looked at Guinevere. "You.. I'm sure you're happy with your new fiancé." He put emphasis on your, hoping to confuse the man. "She's all yours. I promise." He stood to his feet his arm in the air in surrender, his other close to his body as it was injured. "Joshua. Please, my kingdom does not need hers. We don't want to grow stronger. Take her away, please." Richmond almost begged, and as the man seemed to question the Prince , he bowed his head. Hurt in his eyes as he turned around with the girl, and Richmond pulled out his sword, stabbing the fool right in the heart. He had tried to turn around but Richmond did it just in time.

He looked to his fiancé as he put his arm around her, his sword still at the ready. "I love you." He whispered. "Where are your sister and mother, love?" He asked his eyes soft.

Guinevere let out a little scream when Joshua fell behind her, she turned around quickly sighing in relief when Richmond put his arm around her. "Back in the room..." Guinevere replied, it seemed at soon as Joshua had been killed the men pulled back, but Guinevere knew it was not the last they would see of the Kingdom, the Princess would take her Brothers place as heir to the throne, but she knew the girl was no more than eight, and almost felt bad for her. Losing a family member was terrible.

"Gwen!" Lucille ran to Guinevere when she walked back into the room, Guinevere sighed seeing her mother was being tended to by a Doctor. "We thought he killed you." Guinevere smiled reassuringly at her sister. "I'm alright Luce, I promise." Guinevere returned to Richmond's side, she uneasily put a hand over her neck where Joshua had been kissing her, the thought almost made her cringe, she had hated Joshua since they were children, he had been nothing but horrible to her. "She should be back on her feet in a few days." The Man looked at Richmond. "As for your Father, your Highness, I examined his body, he died quickly if that is any consolation."

As if on cue the bells in the tower started ringing, signalling the fall of one of the Royal family members, in this case the King. From the hall Guinevere could hear the people who had hidden start saying "The King is dead, Long live the King." Guinevere felt her stomach twist, she looked at Richmond running her hand down his arm gently linking her fingers with his. "Long live the King." Guinevere whispered softly, gently Kissing Richmond's cheek.

Richmond groaned as the doctor looked at him as well his arm now in a sling. He sighed as he heard the doctor speak of his father and he managed a pathetic smile to Guin. "Long live the King." He bowed his head and sighed heavily. "Your mother will be well soon, I promise." He ran his good hand through her hair and kissed her softly.

- One Month Later -

Richmond had been inducted as the King, and today was the day of his more official induction as he was to wed Guinevere. They were excited as well as the whole Kingdoms they represented. The balls chimed that morning to signal today was the day and he knew that deep down, he'd never been more ready in his life. He straightened his highly formal suit, which was far fancier than anything he'd ever worn. (I'll post pic in a bit.) it was all white, accented with gold on his buttons, neck, shoulders, and wrists. His hair was only slightly ruffled and he sucked in a breath as he walked to the altar alone then his eyes became watery as he witnessed his lovely bride come into view.

"I do." He finally breathed and in a single movement his arm was around her waist tightly as he kissed her with all the love he felt for her in the world.

"You look beautiful Guinevere."
Melissa smiled brushing a stray hair behind Guinevere's ear. "Your Father would be very proud of you." Guinevere smiled softly, smoothing the skirts of her dress. "Gwen, you look beautiful." Lucille smiled softly at her sister hugging her gently, a guard came into the room, bowing to them.

"Your Highness, It is time." Guinevere took a deep breath following the guard, her Mother and Sister walked into the room first taking their place in the front row. Guinevere took her place taking another breath when the doors opened again, she smiled seeing Richmond at the alter, he was the King, and he certainly looked it.

The walk to the alter seemed longer than she had remembered, but when she finally got to Richmond all Guinevere could do was smile. "I do." Guinevere smiled. "I do." As if it were natural like breathing Richmond's arm encircled her waist pulling her close, he kissed her so passionately, and she returned the kiss with the same amount of Passion.

When they broke Guinevere saw her crown set on a purple pillow and took another deep breath, Richmond had already been crowned, but now they were officially married it was her turn. Guinevere moved kneeling before the priest, her coronation when her father died was a grand event, and this was as well, accept it was also her wedding day.

"I Crown thee, First of her name, Queen Guinevere, Of Talwen." Guinevere took a short breath when the crown was placed on her head, she stood and turned returning to Richmond's side as the crowd in the large church roared. "Long live the King, Long live the Queen." Guinevere looked at Richmond smiling at him, a day that would go down in history.

Richmond couldn't believe he'd finally married her at last. Immediately after the coronation was a long rest of the day with the visiting Royals. They all congratulated them, and would then quiz them on what they had in store for the now grand Kingdom. Richmond didn't know what they wanted to hear nor what they said so he just have general answers most of the time.

However, throughout the day, whenever he could he would kiss his now wife gently on the lips, even if it was a simple peck, longing for her. That night, after the last royal had left, Richmond scooped the woman in his arms carrying her to the Royal chambers that ad been remastered to their tastes. "Dear God.." He moaned and kissed hat her lips and neck until he set her on the bed, where his hands traced end everywhere imaginable. Their crow sin their proper places across the room.

"Richmond..." Guinevere sighed at his touch, quickly slipping his tunic off of him leaving him in just his trousers, she took a deep breath feeling her corset loosen, she hadn't even felt Richmond undo the strings.

She moved back on the bed kissing Richmond, and not breaking the kiss as she did so, she moved her arm around his neck running her fingers into his hair, she looked him in the eyes for a moment before kissing him again, she hadn't felt so loved in her life.

Richmond growled against her tender skin as his teeth grazed her neck several times, and before he'd known it, he was in the sheets towering over her curvy form. His hands in her hair as he smelled the sweet scent of berries, as he always had around her. His outfit thrown about on the floor.

- The Next Morning -

Richmond turned over to his side, his hands searching her hips, and wrapping around her torso softly, as he propped himself on one elbow, and kissed lightly on the skin of her neck. "Guinevere.." He pursed his lips into a delightful smile and looked down at her. "You're missing the start.. of our life." He nuzzled into her.

"You're missing the start.. of our life." Guinevere giggled feeling Richmond nuzzle into her, she opened her eyes, it was early, she was used to getting up early, but she was exhausted. "I'm almost certain, our life started last night." Guinevere smiled kissing him lightly.

Guinevere kissed Richmond once more moving from the bed into the open room, she couldn't quite remember what they were doing in the day, but she remembered a mention of the first council meeting, the very thought of it made her groan. She pulled a dress on, one if her more simple ones, and turned back to Richmond who also stood ready for the day.

~*~

The next few weeks had been tiring, Guinevere and Richmond had been tying off the loose ends that Richmond's father had left when he died, finishing trade agreements, finalizing laws, all the thing Guinevere found tedious. She sat in her chair her legs crossed skimming over the paper in front of her, she looked up as everyone had fallen silent. "Is there something wrong?" Guinevere asked raising her eyebrows. "We are just waiting for your opinion your highness."

Guinevere sighed. "I think the villagers struggle enough, we don't need to be taking more of their food and giving it to the lords." The men whispered amongst themselves. "The lords demand more food." Guinevere shifted in her chair, she hated the word demand, the Lords demand more food, no one was to command the Monarchy. "I think they have enough food, if we take anymore we won't have villagers left to grow it, they will starve." With that said the men sitting at the table by them looked towards Richmond, nothing could be passed without both of their okays, but in the long run the King's word was law.

Richmond was in more casual attire for a Prince, which wasn't too much of a wardrobe change. He sighed as he listened Guinevere and the Lords argue back and forth, and as they stopped, he peeled his eyes to look at the table of old, shriveled up men sitting around him and his wife. "You bastards. Why do the Lords need more nourishment? They all can hardly walk on their own, much less be a Lord successfully. " He swallowed. "I deny this ignorant request, and if that's all you have for us today, then you can all return to your homes for the day. The Queen and myself have important business elsewhere." He stood, and held his hand out for Guin before walking out after her, then scooping her up in his arms about halfway to their quarters.

"You said you wanted a family, right m'dear?" He grinned mischievously, acting like a small child when around her. She always brought the best out in him. "Then, the Queen must not be ignored." He shut the door behind him with his foot, and thus granted all of her wishes. "Let me relieve you of the constant stress."

"Let me relieve you of the constant stress."

Guinevere laughed a little kissing Richmond, wrapping her arms gently around his neck, it was true she was stressed, but she rarely showed it, Richmond seemed to always see through it though. "I think you more stressed than I Richie." Guinevere returned his Mischievous smile with one of her own before kissing him again.

~Two months Later~

Richmond had been away with important business, while Guinevere opted to stay home, she was not for dealing with diplomats, but she had exciting news for him, as he had just returned. She had greeted him when he arrived with a kiss but she knew he had to relay what had been decided with their council, so he would be a few moments longer.

Guinevere looked up from her book when her sister came running into the room, the guard running in after her. "Princess Lucille, Your Majesty." Guinevere laughed standing up. "I can see that. Thank you." Guinevere dismissed the guard looking at her sister with raised eyebrows. "What has you so excited?" Lucille looked at her sister almost jumping up and down like a little girl.

"Is it true?" Lucille asked feeling her sisters sides. "Lucille!" Guinevere laughed, her sister had a look of extreme excitement. "I asked your Physician, because you have been acting weird and eating weird, and getting sick and I was worried...Your not wearing a Corset...its true!" Guinevere covered her sisters mouth. "Shh, Luce, Richmond doesn't know yet, I wanted to surprise him as he's been away." Guinevere rolled her eyes as her sisters excitement didn't die down. "I need to have a word with my Physician." Guinevere laughed a little. "Please, I'm your sister, and a Princess, he had to tell me." Guinevere just rolled her eyes again but couldn't hide her amused smile.

Richmond had been away on some nonsense trip that they didn't even need him for, really. He was just there to make sure that it did actually get done, which was the training of hundreds of new militia, and they were putting some research into building a Navy, but that would be another day.

He'd just returned, and greeted by his happy wife, seeming a little more excited. He was just about to ask when he was whisked away to the council, and he groaned. Basically, all he did was relay what he'd seen, and then argue about the addition of a Navy with old men who were like big babies, crying if he didn't please them like his Father. He sighed, leaving the Council Room and going to the sleeping chambers where Guin and Lucy were giggling like school girls. "Do tell me, love. What's got you soo.. girlish today?" He cracked a smile, walking to her, and wrapping his arms around her in a much longed for hug.
