Physical Description: Artyom has a slightly strange appearance due to some rather strange recessive traits. Most notably that his hair is a soft white, due to a lack of pigmenting that started when he was around nine years old. He doesnât keep up with his hair and tends to let in grow in a mop, most specifically letting his bangs grow completely out of control. His skin is a naturally a bit pale and despite his loving of warm summer days it seems to be mostly due to genetics. His eyes are an emerald green and seem to stand out even more due to his off his snow white hair.
Despite his frail hair and skin color, Artyom has always had a rather strong and large body. He keeps himself in shape, but his muscular physic seems to come more naturally than most and he doesnât seem to need to put as much time into it as one might think. That doesnât mean he is rippling with muscle, but he certainly canât be considered slim. He is rather tall comparatively, and has been most his life. His facial features are rather rough, with a rather wide chin and jaw along with a straight bridged nose.
Potential Interest: The Owner. He certainly enjoys talking with Sen, even if she can bit of a hard ass sometimes, especially when it comes to her shop. Though that honest nature seems to be a large part of her charm. Plus she always works just as hard to keep her employees happy as she does on her shop. Still, Artyom hasnât ever had much luck in the love department and he would rather keep things as they are now than risk their current friendly relationship. Relationships between boss and employee are always pretty strenuous, as he knows from all those times he had to find a new secretaryâŠ
Other: Artyom likes to roll and smoke his own cigarettes, a habit he picked up after his mother passed away. He also is a big fan of old rock and roll music and has a rather large collection of records at his apartment. He goes out drinking some weekendsâŠthe excursions tend to end... less than gracefully...
Personality: Artyom is quite the laid back individual. He is mostly a âsit back and smell the flowersâ kind of person. He doesnât get riled easily and would rather talk things out than have a confrontation. Though this causes him to seem a bit lazy or procrastinating to others. Still when there is truly no choice he is quite good a rising to a challenge or acting quickly to get the things done that need to be done. This probably stems from his experience of having to get serious and make up for procrastination to complete things on time.
Behind his laid back attitude however hides a quick a sharp wit. He naturally tends toward solving puzzles and mysteries, being completely enchanted by them. His tongue can be quite sharp with sarcasm, but over the years he has found himself using it less and less and now only uses it when someone truly gets on his nerves. Which doesnât happen often.
He is quite a caring individual that very good at listening to others go on about their problems. He tends to make friends naturally without much effort. Most times he goes out drinking he ends up spending most of the night listening and consoling some poor fellow that was recently dumped or lost their job.
Thinking about his past he mostly gets depressed, as he has never really come to terms with the loss of his mother nor the personal feud with his father. He is rather guarded in this aspect and will most likely try and change the topic if conversation ever starts heading in that area.
Brief History: Artyom was born to a wealthy businessman and what can really only be described as a âmail order brideâ. He spent his younger years in the big city in âmansionsâ affixed in the sky atop large pillars of metal and glass. His childhood was a time of wonder and near constant entertainment in which he bonded with his mother and spent very little time with his father.
As he grew into adolescence, his father would have him shipped off to a prestigious boarding school just as the manâs parents had done to him. That was the beginning of the rift between Artyom and his father. The boy didnât take kindly to being separated from his supportive and caring mother. Still his fatherâs will was not to be disobeyed. Lucky or Artyom his mother came to visit often.
His time at the boarding schools could have certainly been worse. Due to his recently showing white hair color he became a bit popular. There was only a little teasing that came during the beginning, but it quickly evolved into a sort of naturally popularity. Still Artyom suffered from the classic being isolated by popularity. During his later years of high school, he started to act a little more craven, as he dropped his activity in the more popular clubs and joined on to help with newspaper. It was here where he got extremely interested in investigative journalism and went as far as to name it it his âlifeâs callingâ.
After he graduated, his father decided it would be best to get him into a prestigious college, despite the fact that Artyomâs grades had dropped to just above average during the last few years of high school. Artyom didnât take kindly to this and decided to try and make it on his own as a journalist. This decision to disobey was in a large part due to the increased awareness that Artyom had for the way his father was beginning to ignore his mother. He even suspected that the fat old man was cheating on her.
Artyomâs parlay into journalism didnât really end up panning out. So after a couple years he just let his father pay his way into a good college. It was around this time that his mother developed cancer. In a short few months, Artyomâs father had left his mother, Artyom had left college, and his mother had left the earth. Artyom swore to his fatherâs face that he would never have anything to do with the man again.
It was a rough start, but Artyom eventually made it work. He even managed to rekindle his passion for investigative journalism into a small private investigation business. Nothing flashy, but it was entertaining enough. Though eventually the business failed, partly due to his bad luck with assistants, but Artyom had never really been good with management and he was growing tired of life in the city.
Recently, he has moved to a quite small town and gotten a job at a rather interesting little restaurant. It was a hard sell, considering the only related experience he had was as a club bouncer more than five years back, but somehow he got the job. Mostly out of his willingness to work late night hours.
David Masterson: 67; Alive
Selfish, greedy, yet somehow caring towards his only son. David is the very model of a modern corporate douche-bag, and for the most part always has been. He was born as the only child of a rather wealthy family and went through the business education. Soon after he inherited the family business he sold it off and essentially became a prominent shareholder in a few different large companies then proceeded to live of the interest. He has been overweight and out of shape most of his life and showing that that truly good things happen to bad people he as seeming lived all this time with little trouble to his health. Right now he seems to be just biding his time until his death, though in his heart he really wishes he could reconnect with his only son.
Iona Vedeneyev: 51; deceased (at 43)
Iona was born with many things stacked against her, still she was also blessed and cursed with great looks. She never talked much at all about her life before becoming Davidâs wife, despite how much Artyom might ask. She made the best of her life married to a rich asshole drunk on more than just power, and always thought of Artyom as the most important thing in her life. Beyond all else she wanted him to be happy and fulfilled. From her own situation, she knew that money wasnât the thing closest to happiness, so she always supported her son in the things that he was interested in rather than what might make him most âsuccessfulâ. Even after her son had fully grown, she tried to stay close to him and it was him that she saw last as her body finally succumbed to the cancer. Even after her so called âhusbandâ had left her for a younger woman.
