A Gym Leader in the world of Pokemon; he is the holder of the Eclipse badge.
Synn is an optimistic soul, prone to random altruistic acts. Still, like all creatures of flesh and blood, he is a walking book of contradictions. While, in general, he is quite helpful and in a good mood, this hides his his underlying cynicism and dislike of most of the world.
His equipment is sparse, if it can even be called equipment. Rarely will he be seen carrying anything more than a traveling bag filled with supplies, his belt of Pokeballs, and his cell phone. He is an avid explorer and as such has a wide variety of tools for most occasions. These he hardly ever brings with him, though, unless their need is foreseen. His Pokemon, at least the ones he usually carries around on him, include: Dusknoir, Arcanine, and Torterra.
Raed Syn. It was the name given to him at birth and a name he has taken great strides since then to turn into a legend. Ever since he was small, he had a blooming fascination for how things worked and the world around him and all of it's creatures. This, of course, eventually lead him to take on the mantel of scientist as he grew older. Even with his curious mind, however, he could tell that the world of science was not for him. For every minute he spent inside of a lab, learning, he wished that he was also out in the world, exploring and seeing new and powerful Pokemon. Eventually, the glamor of indoor research dulled for him and he left his post at a Pokemon Institute and began to travel all over. Using the medicinal knowledge he had gained while studying various flora growing in different parts of the each region, he managed to scrape by enough money to live on. It wasn't a plush living, but he had never felt more alive nor been happier.
The first Pokemon he ever caught was lonely Duskull he had found wandering around a graveyard and terrorizing passerby. From there on, his team of Pokemon began to grow, with him learning more and striving harder with every capture. Soon, his team consisted of a Growlithe, Duskull, and a little Turtwig that he managed to pick up while studying the local flora of a forest in Sinnoh. From there, he continued to battle and learn as much as he could. It wasn't until he had acquired his twelfth gym badge that he was contacted by a member of the Battle Frontier. At this point, he had grown much older and wiser and he was chosen to become a new Frontier Brain. Of course, since he had become accustomed to his life on the road, he had to decline. Still, they didn't want to pass up on such passionate devotion and offered him an amendment. He could continue to travel from area to area, so long as he at least kept up a semi-permanent base of operations. From there, he could accept and battle trainers and send them over to the Battle Frontier for the rest of their challenges. Quick to agree to something allowing him to take on some of the best trainers around, Synn sought permission from the Elite Four, which they granted. It has been a few years since he became the leader Eclipse Gym, and he is still running around as before...
A description of his duties as Gym Leader, when he preforms them:
"... He is the leader of the Eclipse Gym; a gym, certified by the Pokemon League, for only the most aspiring of trainers. His gym would not be easily found, or stumbled upon, as it randomly changes locations every year and most of the trainer battles are direct invitations at the request of Synn himself. However, the Eclipse badge does not just symbolize a trainers quest for victory. It is primarily useless if a trainers ultimate goal is to challenge the Elite Four, counting towards none of them in any region. It is, however, a direct pass into the prestigious Battle Frontier. Any trainer that defeats Synn in battle is granted immediate clearance equal to that of most of the Gym Leader's themselves..."
