Personality- Riza is incredibly competitive and loves to challenge trainers of any skill level. While travelling the Johto region she gained the name Harpy, this was because she would lead less experienced trainers into matches levels above them and the cloak she would wear when she challenged them. Her kind demeanour would trick trainers into humiliating defeats, and while this was not her intention as all she wanted to do was have fun, the name stuck thanks to the cloak she would wear with a Harpy insignia on it. This name has stuck with her over the years even though it is misleading to how she actually is. Riza is very protective of those she considers rivals and worthy opponents, though she does show some bias toward certain rivals.
Description of Appearance- For lack of a better way to say it Riza is what most would consider stunning. She likes to wear extravagant dresses since she had started to work for King Threshield. She wears a lot of jewelry constantly and carries around a fan that holds her keystone in it.
History- Riza was born in Blackthorn City, she spent much of her time at the Blackthorn Gym watching challenger after challenger take on Claire. No matter how strong or weak Claire would take her challengers on whole heartily no matter what their skill level was. The older Riza got the more she idealized Claire and many Gym leaders as she would learn. Riza at the age of 12 got her first Pokemon and traveled Johto, but not to challenge gym leaders with the hopes of being champion one day like many others. Her goal was to make a name for herself and eventually become a gym leader herself. She traveled the region challenging anyone who she met and catching Pokemon, soon thought it became apparent that her skill was much higher than most of her opponents and she began to make a name for herself, The Harpy. People said that she would put on a kind act and attack weaker trainers, but that was her intention she just didn't know her skill level. Her mother hearing what they called her, but not understanding the meaning of it, made her a cloak with a harpy embroidered on it. Riza wore the cloak and decided she would need to find opponents of her skill level, and the only place she could find them were at the Silver Conference, but that would mean she would need to challenge the gyms, something that she was not particularly fond of.
At the age or 16 she decided she would head to the conference and challenge those participating, there she began to make a name for herself even among the top trainers and this was when she met a young Lock Everett, who much to Riza's surprise was everything like the tabloids had said about him and still the same as he still is. Arrogant and rude, but also a trainer whose skill were something Riza was yet to see and she had her first complete defeat. After the defeat, Riza refused to leave Lock alone while he stayed in Johto challenging him whenever she got the chance losing every time but started to show growth every few losses, with new strategies and Pokemon added every few battles. Thanks to Riza's persistence and her growing skill though the two became close and began to travel together, after around 100 matches Riza finally took a victory which left both of them stunned, but equally as excited. Lock and Riza continued to train with each other, as long as Lock had stayed in Johto. They both began to consider each other as a rival something that Riza did not understand the rarity of at first. The time came though that Lock would return Hoenn, but before leaving Riza asked that they trade Pokemon as a sign of their bond, after initially trying to trade her Phanna for Lock's Arcanine and being denied she settled on her second favorite of all of his Pokemon, Heracross.
After Lock left she made her goal to only challenge the highest elites of Johto, She would constantly challenge Elite 4 and rotating champions, but she would always like to keep the matches private and avoid having any risk on the match. All she wanted was to battle some of the best and see how she stacked up but had no goals of taking their roles. After three years of doing so in Johto, she began to travel the world to do the same in other. Starting in Hoenn so she could meet her good friends again before going on the road it seemed Lock was away searching up information on legendary Pokemon, so she began her journey regardless. This journey caught the attention of King Threshield who had her brought to his islands to offer her a job, and that is where she got her current position.
