Soel walked quietly through the abandoned city he had once called his home. Axis trotted silently at his side. The scent of radiation burned his nose. He coughed and wrapped his scarf around his face to block it out. Axis looked up at Soel expectantly. Soel nodded, he opened the zipper on the coat he was wearing and hid Axis inside. They still had a ways to go before they reached another clear part of the city.

It was a weird sort of peace. The city was quiet with the exception of a few animals calling to one another. Evie stood on top of a building long since abandoned by her people. She loved heights and looking over the different towns and cities that once housed thousands of people. Now a wasteland taken over by nature. Breathtaking...
Having just arrived, she continued along the tightrope like edge of the building that was ready to crumble at any time. Her dark eyes swept over the city below and where she stepped memorizing landmarks for later. Wanting to cross over to the other side to check out the buildings there, she anchored one end of the rope and then shot her arrow to the other side. Satisfied that the arrow was securely imbedded, Evie unstrung her bow and used it to zip-line to the other side. Rowan waited expectantly for her, shaking his head at her absurdity. She smiled kindly at her friend before restringing her bow and retrieving her arrow. As she waited for Sindri to find a way to the top of the building, she crouched on the ledge and watched the semi-deserted streets below.

Sirene stood silently on a wall she considered to be the border between the toxic fog and the clear area. Her family stayed around her, ready to attack the first thing that crawls out of the suffocating radiation mist. She assures the pack that it's okay, she can handle her first guard shift, and they slowly slink away. They still treat her as a pup, even though she wasn't a baby when they took over her upbringing.

Once she makes sure they have tucked themselves into the shadows, she plants herself on the wall and sings the song of her people in a low, sweet, haunting tone, hoping something comes through today.

Soel quietly emerged from the radiation. He unzipped his coat and Axis jumped out, landing at his feet. Soel smiled and pet his head gently. The scent of wolves caught his attention, and he met the gaze of a human girl. 'Must be another guardian...' he thought. Soel kept the lower part of his face hidden by his scarf. He did, however, remove his coat and place it in his backpack. A gust of wind blew and kicked up some dust, concealing him from the girl's sight. Soel nodded to Axis and the two foxes disappeared into a nearby building. When the dust settled, they were no where to be seen. Soel waited in his hiding place to see what the female guardian would do.

Sirene inhales deeply, picking up the unfamiliar scent, but just as her head snapped in the direction of said scent, dust in the wind blinded her. 'I can't let whoever this is by'. She grunts and hops off her wall, and sniffs again, the scent now defines itself as a fox, and under the scent of the fox is a nearly undetectable human scent. 'There is another?' The scent also alerted the pack, but she assured them she'd call if she were in need of help, and she didn't believe the intruder to be a threat. Sirene picked up her speed once the pack had settled, and followed the scent to the building. When inside she crouches low, taking cover. "Hello, Who goes there? This area is property of the last of the Tibetan Wolves, state your purpose. Are you a friend or foe?" Her hands shook, half of excitement, half of fear as she silently crept closer, waiting for a response.

At first Evie thought she was seeing ghosts (not that she believed in them, but you never knew in this world), but her eyes were not deceiving her. A lone figure walked out of the radiation cloud and into the clear area. Soon after something jumped out from the figures coat; a fox. Interesting. It has been a while since I have seen another such as myself. Evie's eyes kept watching as the man disappeared in the dust cloud and possibly into the building adjacent from where the trio watched.
"Sindri, we have your cousins." She talked quietly to her canine friend. The wolf's ears perked as he trotted to the edge to see over. He rumbled happily. "Shall we see how this plays out before we introduce ourselves?" Sindri sneezed an agreement while Rowan took off towards the building. Who would suspect a bird? "Be safe." She whispered on the wind, his cry replied he would.

Soel cloaked his scent as he hid on a wooden support beam in the ceiling. He watched the wolf girl as she entered. Axis stayed well hidden on the beam by laying down and melting into the shadows. Soel knew that this building echoed, so he chose to respond. "It depends...do you plan to harm us? If so, then foe. If not, then it still depends. For you could be lying, which, for you see, we have to take into account..." As his voice echoed around the room, the place it came from became impossible to find. His presence had disappeared as if her senses had suddenly stopped working. Soel then caught the scent of a bird. It smelled like a raven. 'Well this day keeps getting better and better...' he thought with a smirk. It seemed that play time was about to begin. And with the game including a wolf, a raven, and a fox, things were going to get interesting.

Sirene shuddered and listened as he responded, then gave her reply. "No, I won't harm you as long as you mean no harm to us. But, if you choose to play rough, I have the pack ready to back me up in a moments notice. I choose to give you the benefit of the doubt, and I speak for my people when I say, as long as you live in peace with us, you and your friend may stay, but if you betray us you have two choices, leave on your own will, or we will carry you out in pieces." Siren sighs, hating to make a threat to the only other human she's seen since her mothers suicide. "All that aside, I think you should know you're the first human I've spoken to in a long time, and I hope you don't force me to hate you, or dismember you, or both." She sits on the cold cracked floor of the building. "Now come out, come out wherever you are."

Soel gave a small half-smile beneath his scarf and signaled Axis, who slowly crept back down. The tiny black fox sat in front of her at the opposite end of the room. Axis tilted his head playfully. While the wolf girl was distracted, Soel flipped off of the rafter beam and landed silently behind her. He stayed crouched down and simply watched her. Soel kept his scent masked by the dust clogging everyone's senses.

Sirene grins reassuringly at the fox, coughing slightly due to the dust. "Hello, Mr Fox." She covers her mouth and nose with one hand, and leans forward extending her hand to the fox. "I won't hurt you buddy." She coughs again. 'Maybe I shouldn't talk until the dust settles.' Listening to her own advice, she says nothing else and hopes the fox takes her offer of friendship, oblivious to the boy behind her.

Soel snuck up behind Sirene silently and sniffed her neck gently. He easily did a hand-spring over her so he landed in front of her face. Soel clicked his tongue lightly and Axis trotted over to his side. Soel was still crouching in his usual perch-like way. He pet Axis's head, who nuzzled him in response. Soel said nothing. He just sat incredibly still and silent, while staring at her curiously.

Curiouser and curiouser. Evie thought as she waited patiently with Sindri. Her wolf companion was getting antsy, wanting to meet wolves for the first time in over a year. "Go, howl if you need me. My arrow will fly true." Sindri gave a wolfish grin before disappearing from the roof. She hadn't heard from Rowan so all must be going well.
Evie let out a high pitch whistle before repeating what she had done hours earlier. Almost silently, she zipped through the air and landed gracefully on top of the building that housed the two other guardians. She wasn't ready to meet them but it didn't mean she wasn't going to watch them like ravens in the rafters.

Sirene jumped back and squeaked for a moment. "Oh, Hi." She looked at him a moment, and mimicked his stance so she didnt have to crane her head to look at him. "My name is Sirene, and you are?" She quirked her head to the side.

Soel simply watched her quietly. He smelled the raven nearby. As he looked up, he cooed, "Might as well come out, little raven...I know you're hiding above our heads..." Soel smiled to himself beneath his scarf and his eyes held a playful glimmer. He turned back to Sirene and pulled his scarf down so she could see his smile. "I'm just a fox. Simply a fox." Soel replaced his scarf so she couldn't see the lower half of his face. "Your scent is nice..." He forced himself not to blush or show emotion, but a slight pink hue flashed across his pale features.

Rowan cocked his head before taking off to meet the humans that were different than his own. A fox and wolf and raven all under one roof. Stranger things had occurred. He landed on a railing a little ways off so he could be roughly their height and not on the ground. He bowed his head in greeting but did nothing more. He watched the two interact and noted that neither seemed to mean any harm.
Sindri trotted in with his ears slightly lowered to show he did not mean harm and made his way over to his feathery companion. He wasn't a fan of foxes (they were too sly for his liking), but would not provoke either the human or actual fox. Perhaps it was time for their human to finally interact with her kind. Her social skills excelled with animals but were lacking with her own species.

Soel rolled his pretty silver eyes at the bird playfully. "I meant your human friend, raven...not you..." His voice was soft and smooth with a melodic sound to it. Soel heard a creaking in the floor above him. "We need to leave. Now-" Soel was cut off by the roof collapsing. Soel felt an iron rod from the ceiling impale his shoulder, and a heavy piece of the rafters trap with body in the rubble. He gasped for air, his lungs burning from the dust. Soel began to struggle, and soon got the rafter off of him. While pulling the iron rod out of his shoulder, he coughed up a bit of blood. "Axis!" he called. The small black fox poked his head out of the rubble and shook itself free. Soel began searching for the others and soon found both of the other guardians. Soel quickly freed them from the ceiling remaints and got them outside. After they were all safely out, Soel collapsed from blood-loss.

Shit! Evie cried as her footing was lost when the roof caved in. Having fallen thousands of times, she let her body free fall until her feet hit the ground first and then she rolled. The pale man helped her up and then went to help the other woman. Brushing herself off, Evie looked for her friends with panic pulsing through her. She found Rowan flying above, having narrowly escaped rumble falling on him, and Sindri shaking off dust. After making sure everyone else got out, she ran over just in time to skid to a stop and catch the pale man.
Pushing off her hood, Evie applied pressure to the oozing wound. Her onyx eyes looked up to Rowan. "Please go into my bag and find my needle set. We need to saw him up or he may not make it." She coughed trying to clear her lungs of the dust and debris that she had inhaled when the roof collapsed. As she continued to apply pressure, Sindri walked over and licked the blood seeping through her fingers.

Soel slowly forced his eyes to open. Axis growled at Sindri and nipped at him to keep him away from Soel. Soel made himself stand, even though a small blood puddle was forming at his feet. He stumbled a bit, but steadied himself and began to walk in the direction of an old cave that smelled like a fox den. He used to live in this area two years ago. Then he left in search of others. Apparently wolves and ravens had moved in. Fools. Calling this territory theirs when it was his to begin with. Soel tripped and fell to one knee, but he quickly regained himself and pushed on.

Sirene made an awkward noise, and rushed to him, she was on her way to check on him anyway. "Mr. Fox, I can call you that right? You never gave me another name, and I am talking way too much. Let's get you the den, you'll be safe with us." She shoulders his arm on the uninjured side, and takes half his weight to help him to the Den. "We're always ready to move out, just in case the owner of this cave ever comes back, but it's been a half a year since we moved in and no one has claimed it besides us." She rests him on a make shift cot that is obviously where she sleeps, it's covered in her scent. "The Raven lady sewed you together, she said it might not be safe to move you 'till you moved yourself." Sle leaned over him. "Excuse me." She gingerly touched his wound and sniffed her hand, then offered it to her parents who were close at her heels. "Blood is the quickest way for us to catch and remember a scent, so don't be surprised if any others say hello. I'm going to get a few things, your fox friend should be back shortly, I don't know where he went. Regardless, the pack will protect you until I return." She gave him a reassuring smile and left on a specific mission.

Soel shrugged her away. He growled and spat at the wolves, making sure they stayed well away from him. Once the strange girl returned, Axis and Soel glared at her intently. Soel was sitting criss-cross in the center of the cave. His shirt had been cast aside so his wound could get enough air. "Damn wolves...acting like they own this territory..." he mumbled just loud enough for them to hear. Then he raised his voice, his anger showing in his words, "This territory belongs to me as of the end of the war. Two years ago Axis and I left to find other survivors." His eyes narrowed at Sirene. "And now that we've returned, wolves have moved in calling it THEIR territory. THEIR nest." Soel chuckled darkly, "You weren't born here and raised here. You didn't survive the war here. And this isn't your home." He noticed a wolf inch a little closer and he growled, forcing it back. "I should be the one kicking YOU out..." He took a silent deep breath and seemed to relax back into his mysterious, unreadable nature. "If you wish to remain here, you will play by our rules. Understand?"

Her eyes are sad and she lays the clothes she left to get at his feet. "I never said we have the intention of staying, I just said we found a place and will leave when the rightful owners came back. You have, so I suppose when you heal, we'll leave. Right guys?" She glowers at the small unresponsive pack until they nodded. "I'm sorry we took without asking, but you were gone, and we traveled so far." She stands. "You can just keep the cot, I'm going to go find somewhere big enough so we can move out when you get better." She hugs her arms close and whispers. "Sorry." She walks slowly out, and once in the clear she growls at herself. "First human I've seen in years and I mess everything up!" She sucks in a deep breath and moves to check one of the surrounding building that still stand, hoping one is big enough so she and the pack don't have to re-enter that murderous fog, she's already lost too many family members to that.

Soel's playful glimmer reappeared for a split second in his eyes. He knew exactly what she was thinking, and he didn't blame her. He sighed dramatically. "I suppose you can stay if you promise me three things..." he said to get her attention. Once he had it, he continued. "One, is that we will coexist as friends and help each other when needed." He hopped back into his usual perched sitting position. "Two, is that if either you or I desire some space, they are allowed to have it." Soel gave a faint smile as he said the last term. "And three, is that you are never allowed to enter that radiation cloud again." He seemed to be back to his usual self, and he had obviously forgiven her. He flashed her a playful grin.

Sirene blinks, she doesn't want to seem too eager to accept, but she nods rapidly, a little sooner than she planned to. "Does this mean you'd like space right now, or what?" She walks back in, and sits before him on the floor, her bright blue eyes studying him, his whole demeanor is....intriguing to her. She had never seen someone so straightforward, yet cryptic, nor had she ever known anyone to be two different people, one when speaking, and the other when not. This boy makes her brain hurt, and she wanted to scream and tell him that he does so, but she refuses to let any of this surface. The only emotion she lets play on her face is mild interest, though her eyes betray her and show her confusion.

Soel gave a mischievous smile, making sure to keep his sharp teeth hidden. They were the one part of himself he'd rather not show anyone. It seemed to make people uneasy, as did his claw-like nails. But at least those seemed more likely than canines. Soel's eyes stayed calm. They had an eerie, mysterious sparkle in them. He smirked slightly. Soel could read anyone like a book. It was obvious by her eyes and nervous demeanor that he made Sirene intrigued and confused. He couldn't help but be curious as well. The last time he had really spoken to another human was when he was seven. When his parents died. Soel leaned forward and sniffed her neck silently again. He liked the way she smelled. For such a hyper girl, her scent was quite calming. Soel smiled knowingly and pinned her to the ground. "You're injured aren't you? I can smell the blood mingled with your scent..." His voice was back to his usual smooth sound. Such a soft-spoken voice should sound more masochistic, but it sounded more hypnotic, seductive. Almost like he could control everything around him a single word.

When he pinned her she flashed fangs briefly, more in surprise than anything, but relaxed soon after. A blush then ran across her face like wild fire, and stayed there. "A-am I? I hadn't noticed." In truth she hadn't, she's so used to her own scent and the smell of her own blood that she didn't take note of it anymore. She wiggled a little underneath him, and sighed. She knew she could easily throw him if she wanted to, but she didn't. She wanted let up, but she didn't. Why? Well she didn't know. She took a deep breath and let his scent fill her, an intoxicating, mysterious scent. Figures, she can't even understand how he smells. She pondered this until her brain hurt again, and she gave another wiggle. "Are you going to let me go? I mean, if I am injured like you say, aren't you making it worse?"
