"I may be small, but I am tough!"

0 · 255 views · located in Future U.S.A

a character in “Project Zero: Escape”, originally authored by FaddedFox, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Rezia Jay Balack
.
Nickname: “You can call me Rez or Rezia. I’ll bite you if you call me Jay or Balack! Or Subject! Anything else.... that's okay.”

Familiar's Name: “My Familiar is Sai. He’s so pretty.”

Age: 10

Gender: Male

Familiar's Gender: Male

Role: Rezia is natural born but raised in a lab. He is an escapee.

Mutation | Abilities: Rezia is a Sly

Warp: He can warp to a place he knows and to someone he knows. The power is extremely limited to people and places he has been to and knows well.

Mind-Reading: Since he is still learning his powers, his mind-reading is also limited and sometimes uncontrollable. Sometimes he can hear the thoughts of everyone around him and gets pretty overwhelmed by all the thoughts. He can center on a person and read their thoughts but he has to be able to see the person. If he can’t see them, he can’t read them. He has started to learn how to implant thoughts so he does try and practice that.

Camouflage: Rezia can imitate other people’s voice and has great fun tricking the scientists and playing voice games to confuse them. He managed to get out of a testing room and out into the open once just by saying a phrase to the voice identifier lock and nearly escaped before the scientists managed to grab him again.

Weaknesses: “Weaknesses? Pfft! I don’t have any weaknesses!”

• Being overstimulated. If he becomes too overwhelmed, he has a tendency to shut down or withdraw from people.
• Attachments – Rezia tries to be a tough little cookie and pushes people away, but at the same time, he wants to be close. This makes him pretty hot and cold towards people and confuses them and himself on what exactly he wants.
• Being a child – Since he is so young, he doesn’t understand some things and his body is still developing. This means he doesn’t have complete control over himself and his powers and though he acts tough and seems like a grown up in many cases, he does revert back to his childlike tendencies and beliefs when he feels vulnerable.

Description: Rezia stand at 4’4 so he is pretty small in stature which helps him get into small places and move quickly. He is lean and still has the boyishly round cheeks, wide eyes, and full lips. He almost looks feminine but he doesn’t mind since he likes to trick the scientists in any way he can. He has short white hair with black tips and eyes as blue as the Ulysses butterfly.

Personality: Being young and immature, Rezia is constantly changing and redefining himself. Because he grew up in the lab, he doesn’t know what it is like to live a ‘normal’ life and it fascinates him. It is like a cookie he just can’t reach no matter how hard he tries. He knows he needs to be tough if he wants to survive and often acts indifferent and bored around the scientists. He has seen the way others react to the scientists and has learned that being friendly is frowned upon even though he is just as curious of them as he is of everything else. He wants to talk to them but refrains from doing so mostly out of fear of what the scientists will do to him and what the other mutants would think of him. For most of his life he hasn’t had toys and other childish items to occupy himself with and so he is mature about most situations and tries to approach problems like an adult. People would be surprised of the words that come out of his mouth. He doesn’t much have a filter and wears himself on his sleeve. Since he has been tested on, poked, and prodded, he is very sensitive and doesn’t like it when people touch him or force him to do something. With the flip of a coin however, Rezia shows off his playful nature and curiosity around people has grown to trust or when caught off guard. Though he is mature and intellectually advance, his emotional development is delayed. When he can’t cope, he withdraws and curls up into a ball or starts to suck on his thumb again. It is more of a coping mechanism than anything. He doesn’t like the way he acts so he tries to hide himself when he gets depressed or lonely. He doesn’t want people to see him when he is vulnerable even though he wants comfort. He is quite the contradiction and poses as his own challenge.

Familiar Personality: Sai is very playful and usually the ones that brings out the same in Rezia. He always tries to find a way to stir things up and make a day interesting and influences Rezia to pull tricks and pranks on those around them. He doesn’t like the scientists and often shows his aggression towards them when they try to hurt him or Rezia. He is also very protective of his counterpart and acts like a father when the boy needs to be comforted. He is slightly more cautious than Rezia and it takes longer for him to trust others than it is for Rezia. He is also more consistent when it comes to his personality compared to his hot and cold partner.

Likes:
• Chocolate and candy
• games/items/ people he needs to figure out. He loves puzzles.
• Playing tricks on people.
• Attention. When he wants it.

History:

Rezia had been born out in the wild in a family that relished the animal side of their genes more than the human one. They lived in a small house out in the forest but spent most of their time in dens below the house. When Rezia was maybe 1 years old, scientists found them and killed both of his parents who actually did fight to keep Rezia safe. It was to no avail and the human scientists took the crying baby away from his home and into the lab. Rezia doesn’t remember his family or the first year of his life outside of the lab. All he knows is the lab and what the scientists have told him. One of the things they’ve ingrained in his head is that his mother and father gave him up and that they didn’t care for him. It is a thought that always runs through his mind. Why did they give him up? Why didn’t they love him? Why would they hate him so much that they’d give him up to the horror he lives with? He wants to find them and answer his questions. The thought that his own parents have given him up affects the way he attaches to people. He doubts himself and often becomes friendly with people but then gets aggressive and cold. It is more of an internal fight of ‘What if they don’t really want to be friends? What if they hurt me to?’ kind of thought process so it is more out of fear than anything else.

Rezia spends most of his time coming up with ‘awesome’ schemes and tricks to pull on scientists since they are the only people he really interacts with and has found many useful ways to entertain himself. And since he is a child, he find the occasional tantrum and sobbing foxy face gets him what he wants. He uses any form of persuasion he can. Once when he was 7, he even outsmarted the scientists. He saw that there was a little electronic pad on the door that opened only when a scientist said a certain phrase with a certain tone. He watched and listened for days before he tried it. He waited for the scientist to leave him in the room and then walked up to the device and said the exact phrase in the older man’s voice. It unlocked the door and the little thing hurried down the hall way opening up doors with his new ability. Rezia actually made it outside. Being a child, being out in the open immediately distracted him from his goal of ‘get away’ and he started to play in the grass and mud until the scientists came out. He ran, but the older men were able to catch up with him and he ended up back in his cage. The locks had been changed so he couldn’t use his voice as a tool. To prevent Rezia from outsmarting them again, the scientists now had the door unlocked by someone on the outside.

Realizing how smart and cute he was, the scientists started to train him to hunt down other mutants. He didn’t really understand what they were teaching him to do, but he learned quickly. Before he training could be completed, the fire started and he was able to escape with a group of mutants. Since he didn’t know where else to go, he followed the other mutants to wherever they were going. He didn’t want to be alone after all.

So begins...

"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine. You make me happy when skies are gray. . ."

Her mother's voice sings softly, the child lullaby sounding hauntingly familiar. When she was a child, Bree's mothers would sing this song just before she went to sleep. Sunshine was a nickname her mother gave her, with her golden locks.

"You never know, dear, how much I love you. Please don't take, my sunshine away."

Was it a coincidence that those were the last words she had ever said to me?

The sirens started first. Flashing red lights reflecting off the glass of the tubes the Others were all kept in. The thick glass between them and the scientists kept each of them away from the frantic hustle and bustle. Papers were being thrown around, armed security officers running around, things being locked away and computers being shut down.

Many officials kept glancing back at the contained Others, worried looks on their faces. Turning, Bree noticed the rest of the Others as confused as she was. Never in her many years at the Institute had anything happened quite like this. Of course, there were times when the doors were doubled locked, windows shut, but shutting down the computers? Even after the building was dark and quiet, the only humans on the premises being the guards, the computers are always on, constantly running some kind of program.

Curiosity killed the cat, her mother would always say. As a child she would never help herself, taking the extra step to see what would happen. Once the step had her falling into a lake. Gazing around at the scientists, it seemed Bree was the only one who noticed light spilling from the bottom of one of the window shades. It wasn't bright, perhaps not noticeable for the humans, but her keen eyes could see it. Tilting her head, her brows scrunched in confusion and wonder as it grew brighter, shining off of the metal walls. Unconsciously, she stepped forward.

The wall exploded, bricks and pieces of metal shot in every which way. Humans fell, others ran, and some even were thrown forward from the blast. A stray piece of brick hit her capsule, shattering the glass and breaking the barrier the small other had. A gasp escaped her lips a moment before she fly backwards, hitting her back and head against the wall. Dizzily, she fell. Slowly, she pulled her arms, legs, and head in under herself, trying not to expose herself. Metal, papers, and bricks hit her repeatedly, and unwillingly Bree's eyes started to droop the dizzier she became.

"Please don't take my sunshine away. . ."
