Jace laughed. "Nah, I wouldn't go and do that." He said, suddenly remembering their first kiss. Surely he wouldn't get another, but he could still have some slight hoping and daydreaming.

Art shrugged, still convinced that there was no other way to fix her problem of being too blunt. "Eh, if I ever start talking too much though please do." She smiled and too a sip of her hot chocolate.

Jace got a crooked grin on his face. "Now, if I do that then all my chances of getting another kiss are gone." He said and laughed. He wondered if she would slap him. Some girls did.

Art normally would have punched a guy for saying that, but the last thing she wanted was for Jace to leave again. Well, she was sure it wouldn't be difficult to find him since they were trapped. She laughed. "That's true," she said, though she wasn't sure if she would kiss him without a good reason. At least being trapped inside meant she wouldn't fail at skiing again. Part of her wanted to kiss him now, the other did not and wanted to slap him silly. Then again, Artemis just plain hated most guys. Ever since their dad had left she'd been on guard around every male that wasn't Issac.

Jace took another drink of his hot chocolate. He doubted that she wanted to kiss him again, but he wouldn't let the disappointment show on his face. The sarcastic sneer that had been on his face had faded and for once he looked calm and open and somewhat innocent. He never let his guard down around anyone, and now he was letting it down in front of her. It excited and scared him at the same time.

Art closed her eyes and held her cup in her hands. It was warm and the warmth felt like it was flowing through her. She wished she had something or someone to tell her what to do. She was better at following orders or giving them, not making them up as she went along. She smiled and chuckled a bit. She would not make a good actress or talk show host.

Jace finished his hot chocolate and set it down on the window sill, then turned facing her. "Why is it, that the girl that is a lot like me in personality happens to be the one person I am trying to get along with? Arent same supposed to repel, opposites attract?" It was a serious question, but he almost smiled saying it. Almost.

Art looked up at him. "Well, technically speaking if we were magnets and opposites we'd attract. But if we were complete opposites in the non magnetic sense, we'd argue even more than we do now. Agreeing is usually better than arguing." She smiled, feeling smart. "The right balance of both is what works best I think."

Jace nodded in agreement. "I don't enjoy being with clones, andi don't want to be arguing with people all the time either. So meeting in the middle is perfect." He smiled at her charmingly.

Artemis smiled back, then looked down at her feet. She looked back at Jace and before she knew what was happening, she was kissing him again. She wasn't exactly expecting this, but it just felt... right.

Jace was taken aback by the kiss that Artemis was suddenly giving him, but he didn't question it. Not yet. It was as if instinct took control of his body, because he had never held a woman like this before, not as sweetly as he was now. His arms went from his sides and wound around her waist, hugging her to him as he kissed her back. His grip on her was firm, but soft at the same time. He then brought one hand up and placed it on her face, stoking her cheek gently as he kissed her.

Artemis smiled a bit as they kissed. She moved her arms and wrapped them around his neck, glad that she wasn't too short. She liked this more than she would have thought. His touch was warm and gentle, which was completely unexpected.

After a few more minutes, Jace pulled his face away from hers. His green eyes were softening, no longer a hard emerald but a swaying field of grass. He continued to hold her as he asked in a very soft voice, "What did I do to deserve that?"

Artemis shrugged, just as confused as he was. "I'm not sure," she told him honestly. "But it must have been something good and worthwhile." She smiled.

Jace beamed down at her and chuckled. "Well, I would assume so." He told her. Then he got kind of nervous, biting his lip. "But... What exactly does it all mean? Where do we go from here? What do you want?" He asked her, hoping she didn't want to just ignore it like it hadn't happened.

Artemis wasn't entirely sure what she wanted. "I don't really know," she responded to his questions. "Well, I don't think we'll be leaving anytime soon given the current weather." She sighed, turning serious again. "I really like you Jace."

Hearing what she said, Jace got a sad smile. "I like you too... However, I'm sensing a "but" to your statement. Something along the lines of, you aren't trying to get hurt, and I might hurt you bad? Its what all the girls say, not giving me a chance. But its true. I cant garuntee you wont get hurt. And you deserve so much better than that..." By the end, his voice was a hushed whisper and his hand was gently caressing her face.

Artemis looked away from him. What he said was essentially what she was worried about. Everybody was worried about getting hurt, but it was beyond just that. Her father had left the family when she and Issac were only six. They hadn't heard from him since. Heck, he could be dead for all they knew. And part of her almost wished it was true. She couldn't bring herself to tell Jace this though. She wasn't sure what to say, but looked back at Jace for a moment. "I don't want to be hurt," she whispered.

Jace stepped closer to Artemis, grabbing hold of both of her hands, a slightly desparate look coming into his eyes. "Artemis, I cant promise you wont get hurt. But you cant promise that I wont either. And you know what? I am willing to take that chance. No one can garuntee safety, but I can garuntee I will try. I will try to be the best I can be. Can you give me that chance? Please, Artemis."

Artemis forced a smile, trying to put her feelings before her fears. She looked into his eyes, almost seeing herself. "Yes," she responded, almost overwhelmed. She smiled.

Jace grinned from ear to ear. "Yes? Yes?" He whispered, then grabbed her face, pulling her close, and kissing her excitedly. If he was being honest with himself, this was the happiest he has felt.

Artemis wasn't prepared for when he kissed her, but happily kissed him back. She felt good, better than winning any tournament.

Jace pulled away from the kiss when a thought suddenly came to his mind. "Do we tell your brother about this? Or do you not want him to know?"

Artemis frowned, unsure. "We won't tell him, not yet."

Jace nodded his head. "Alright,if that is what you want. But eventually he does have to know. Cant just keep it a secret forever..." he said, though he didn't have plans of ever telling his family about Artemis... but he hadn't told his family about Her either... but he wouldn't think of that now.
