I was relieved when the guy let go of Hanna. If that happened again- to
any of the other people staying at camp- one of the counselors would be dealing with a broken nose. Well, maybe I wouldn't be that harsh, but still. As she went back to her cabin, I waved. "Nice meeting ya, Hanna." I called after her, noticing Andrew going to walk with her. Once I heard Kenneth 'claim' his bed, I turned around, stepping away from the door and over to the bed I sat Maggie's cage on and sitting down. "I guess I don't really need to say that this one's mine. That is, unless someone wants to take care of this rabbit for me." I leaned back on my hands, listening to Kenneth say something about a party.
The PA system starting up scared me out of my wits- I nearly jumped off the edge of the bed. I froze and listened to what it had to say before groaning. "Can't they give us just one hour of peace before shoving everyone in a room together?" I stood up, shoving my hands into the pockets of my jacket and watching as Kenneth walked out without paying much mind to me or Sylvester. "We better book it over there or else the big bad counselors'll start yanking us around, too." I said to my other new roommate, walking back out of the cabin and to the cafeteria.
I made it in there just in time to hear the head counselor telling everyone to grab their food and sit back down. I wasn't feeling very hungry, so I just grabbed a bottle of water and a small slice of pizza, not even bothering to get a plate for it. I noticed Hanna and Kenny sitting at one of the back tables, but decided to just sit at the seat closest to me- I'd have time to chat with them later. After sitting down, I propped my feet up in the chair next to me and took a bite from the pizza. It wasn't the best- wasn't the worst, either.
Once the head counselor started talking again, I was only half-listening. I definitely caught that last part, though- what did he mean we were 'supernatural creatures'? I made a confused face, but it quickly slid into a grin.
"Oh, I get it. some sort of big, elaborate prank to welcome all the new kids here." What else could it be? No longer taking the announcement seriously like everyone else, I put my hands up and spoke over the whispering and talking of the others in the cafeteria. "That's right, guys, that's my secret. I'm actually a
fairy." I chuckled to myself, shaking my head and taking another bite from the pizza.
