īŧ°īŧĨīŧ˛īŧŗīŧ¯īŧŽīŧĄīŧŦīŧŠīŧ´īŧš ❜

Observative: Aspen is the kind of person who would rather watch and listen than talk. He notices the little things like a twitch in someone's jaw when they're angry or a sparkle in someone's eye when they're amused.
Debonair: Aspen is charming and well mannered (most of the time) and walks with confidence that can often come off as arrogance.

Apathetic: Aspen's elven blood makes it difficult for him to sympathize with human issues so he lacks empathy. He cares but not about emotional things. He'll worry about your health, but not your heart. If he does, well... then you're someone very special.

Sarcastic: Aspen's sense of humor tends to come from his sarcastic side. Mostly because he's pretty blunt and while he means it, he allows it to come off as a joke.

Fun-loving: When there's fun to be had, you better include Aspen. He's the kind of person who pulls pranks to see someone's reaction. He's also into more dangerous fun like extreme sports and parkour.

Intelligent: Aspen is very intelligent. He likes to solve puzzles and memorize random trivia. Most of the time, he really knows what he's talking about and it can get on people's nerves. All 100 billion of them.
Blunt: Aspen is very blunt when it comes to things. It's not so much that he doesn't like to lie, he just doesn't see the point. He'll say things the way they are even if it means hurting someone's feelings. He doesn't agree with the theory "Ignorance is bliss" he prefers "the truth will set you free".

Aspen's favorite thing to do at the end of the day is archery.. When there's a bow in his hands, nothing is wrong with the world. He also enjoys warm tea. He's very fond of puzzles and pranks and drives people nuts. His favorite color is green like the trees of the forest behind his mother's house and his mother's eyes. If you want to be on his good side you bring him peaches. They're his favorite. He likes more indie music than your typical pop and rock and roll. He prefers to wear jeans and T-shirts, but often dresses in sweats and hoodies. Just more comfortable. His favorite place to be is outside especially beaches and forests. His favorite possession is an amber necklace that his father gave to him before he disappeared. While no one has, yet, warmed his heart, a few have warmed his bed.

xx ★īš—īŧ¤īŧŠīŧŗīŧŦīŧŠīŧĢīŧĨīŧŗ
The thing that Aspen fears most in the world is his grandfather. He's mean and deadly and would probably kill Aspen if left alone with him. Iron makes him itch. He's not a big fan of coffee, drugs, or alcohol because they're all addictive and damaging to your body. No matter how tired he is he hates naps and hates even more to be woken while napping. Difficult right? The naps make him sick when he wakes up, but waking him up before he's ready makes him angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry. He doesn't like to hurt people, but he knows that it's just who he is to be blunt and up front about things.

â™Ŗ TELEKINESIS ; The ability to manipulate inanimate objects with his mind.
â™Ŗ ARCHERY ; What's an elf without his bow?
â™Ŗ DEXTERITY ; He's incredibly quick and flexible which helps with hand to hand combat.
â™Ŗ PARKOUR ;
There's something about climbing up and jumping off buildings that makes him feel like he's soaring through the trees.

â™Ŗ EMOTIONAL APATHY ; He struggles with the concept of sympathy and isn't an empathetic person at all.
â™Ŗ MELEE COMBAT ; He much prefers to use his bow than his hands. It's hard to observe from close up. Which also why he distances himself from people. It's hard to see them when you're so close.
â™Ŗ IRON ;
He's allergic to iron metals. Makes him itchy.

❜ īŧĻīŧĨīŧĄīŧ˛īŧŗ

â™Ŗ MEMORY ; Because he's a half-elf he retains more information than most humans. He'll remember every word someone's said, every Detail of what he sees and that's a lot to deal with.
â™Ŗ THE FUTURE ; As a half-elf, he'll live longer than anyone he knows. That means he'll lose anyone he cares about. Anyone who would bother to get to know him is gone.
â™Ŗ HIS GRANDFATHER ;
He's a powerful eleven being and Aspen is sure his father would sees him as an abomination and is positive he's one of the people leading the charge to rid the world of half-bloods.

xxxīŧ¨īŧŠīŧŗīŧ´īŧ¯īŧ˛īŧšâœ—

Aspen was born to a human mother, Lily, and a elven prince, Etherod. Etherod wandered into her yard one day from the forest. At first he wouldn't allow human filth like her to touch him, but eventually he realized he needed help and allowed her hand. She was nothing but kind no matter what slurs came from his mouth. While he recovered, she cared for him and he slowly began to realize that she was helping him, but wanted nothing in return. That humans weren't all selfish and obsessed with all things shiny and industrious. He even began to love her. Once he was fully healed, he disappeared, leaving behind an amber necklace and a promise that he would return. When he did, he whisked her away and married her. Together they had a half-elf son they named Aspen.

When Aspen was but a boy, they returned from a weekend away to find their home torn apart. There were writings carved into the wall about how the prince was a traitor, the woman was a -insert elven slur-, and the boy was an abomination and all three were to be executed by order of the king, Aspen's grandfather. The prince hid his wife and son away and left, leaving behind the amber necklace as a promise to return home. Years passed and Aspen had yet to see his father. His mother was the same loving and caring person as always and never revealed her fear that her love was dead and that the elves would soon come for them. She raised Aspen up strong and healthy and taught him all she could in Etherod's place.

About a year ago, Etherod's friend appeared at the house begging Lily to allow him to take Aspen somewhere safe, an island meant to house and train half-bloods. Lily had the option to disappear to a new home while Aspen was gone to protect herself. She stayed where she was and decided to wait for Aspen to return. He misses his mother terribly, but his goal is to collect as much information as he can about his father and the war, and when he's allowed to leave, he'll go and search for his father so the three of them can return home.

“You are one handsome man,” Miles said into the mirror as he did up the last button of his bright pink vest. Smiling, he did a little spin and then leaned in towards the mirror to primp his hair. “A man’s hair is his greatest assets.” He said to his reflection, “That might be in the bible, look it up.” Then Miles spun around and grinned at his reflection pointing finger guns at it. “Gotcha, that’s not in the bible.” Then he pretended to shoot his reflection and laughed.

Miles hesitated when he grabbed his jacket. He had intended to wear this outfit with a jacket but he could already feel the heat seeping in through the buildings walls. The sun was up and soon the heat would be forcing all the students here to get out of bed. Since most of them probably hadn’t been up for the last hour primping in the mirror and choosing an outfit like Miles had. Of course that was if their hungry stomachs didn’t already have them awake. Breakfast was only served in the Dining Hall for an hour, starting in about ten minutes. If the kids didn’t get up and get breakfast that was their own fault. The teachers weren’t on this Island to play alarm clock.

Miles decided against the jacket and headed out of his quarters and into the hallways of the dormitory in a shirt, vest and bowler hat. He stopped by the Dining Hall to pick up a scroll from the kitchens and two coffees from the Teacher’s lounge which was just a small room attached to the hall that had a couch and a few amenities not given to the students. Then he headed to the founder’s quarters.

“Morning Boss,” He said cheerily putting down one of the coffees and the scroll on the founder’s desk. No matter how early Miles got up the founder was always awake and at her desk when he arrived with her morning coffee and meal.

“I’m not hungry,” She replied slowly pushing the food away.

“You never are, but you should eat something,” Miles replied smiling, though underneath he was wary of how sickly and frail the founder looked. “See how delicious this scroll looks!”

“A boy, probably with tainted blood.” The founder replied ignoring Miles. She passed him a newspaper folded open to an article about a freak electrical storm.

“You trying to tell me how to do my job?” Miles replied grinning as he picked up the paper. “I already sent someone off to check it out this morning. Now you can tell me how great I am at my job later. Right now I have some students to attend to.”

“Be careful today Miles. I sense trouble afoot.” She called to Miles as he was leaving.

Miles spun around with a wry smile on his face. “You say that everyday dear.”

“Today I fear I might mean it.” She wearily waved Miles away, “Go. I am very tired, I need to rest.”

Miles left the founder’s quarters and shook off the morbid feeling he got every time he talked to her. Fixing up his hat so it sat slightly tilted, he practically skipped his way back to the Dining Hall with a large grin on his face. Students were starting to wake up now and make their way to the Dining Hall. He flung open the doors to the Dining Hall, “Morning Lovelies,” He called out, loudly and merrily, despite the early hour of the morning. It isn’t correct to say Miles is a morning person, since he is usually this exuberant and happy all hours of the day.

It always takes Michaela forever to get ready in the morning so she's up an hour before breakfast. After shutting off her alarm, she shuffled into the bathroom to take a quick, hot shower before blow drying her hair and getting dressed. She had her outfit for the day picked out the night before. After finishing her usual makeup: soft eyeshadow, heavy eyeliner, mascara, and her signature red lip stain. She stared in the mirror for a good ten minutes attempting to decide on a hair style. High pony tail is too cheerleader and screams innocence which is not what she's looking for. Low ponytail looks messy and lazy which she didn't find appealing. She tried teasing her layered hair with her fingers, but that looked messier than the pony tail. With a sigh, she pulled out her flat iron and waited for it to heat up. Down and straight it is. She ran a brush through her hair once more while the iron warmed and parted her hair to the side just the way she liked it. Another thirty minutes later, she looked at herself in the mirror and rolled her eyes. She was as ready as she would ever be.

She pulled on her boots and headed out the door.

Her first stop before going to the cafeteria was to wake her stupid half-elf friend. For someone who has years on his life, he sure spends a lot of that free time in bed. She pounded on the door a few times. "Aspen!" she hissed through the crack in the door. "Wake up, you pointy eared bastard! Do you want breakfast or not!" She waited about a minute before she continued on her way to the cafeteria. She learned her lesson the first time she woke him to just go on without him. She waited nearly an hour before and only had ten minutes to shove food in her mouth before breakfast was officially over. Ever since, she decided she was better off just meeting him there and if he was too late for food it was his own fault.

She yawned and forced her hands to her sides to keep from rubbing her eyes. She didn't get as much sleep as she wanted to last night. She couldn't get comfortable every time she rolled onto her back so she had to stay on her sides and her arms kept falling asleep.

Once she got the cafeteria, the smells of bacon, eggs, toast, and so many other breakfast foods shoved their way up her nose and made her mouth water. As a half-angel, her body tends to burn through a lot of energy which means a lot of food. It also means she's almost always hungry. She swaggered up to the food line and grabbed two trays, both were for her, but Aspen was allowed to mooch off her plate if he wanted. He would anyway and wouldn't bother to ask. "Mornin' Rose!" She greeted, cheerily as always when it came to the head chef de cafeteria. "I will have the usual please, if you don't mind. Might I say you're looking particularly lovely today. Are you using something for your skin?" She wasn't looking for an answer to any of her comments. She just liked to flatter the woman. Her food always tasted better afterwards.

The woman smiled and piled eggs, bacon, toast, and fruit onto two plates and placed them on her tray. "Thanks bunches, beautiful!" She called over her shoulder. Then she walked over to her usual place near Lila. Aspen had chosen the spot years ago when Michaela and Lila first arrived on The Island and since she didn't mind Lila and Aspen was pretty much her best friend, she didn't mind the spot.

"Sup, Lila," she said, sitting beside the half-nymph girl and piling the eggs on the toast to make a sandwich. She put two slices of bacon between the slices for some crunch and took a bite. After swallowing she gestured towards the door. "Think he'll make it on time?"

Aspen groaned as a ray from the sun slipped out from behind his curtains and shone in his face. He rolled over, pulling the blankets up to his ear and, thankfully, went back to sleep. The next time he awoke was to a pounding on his door, almost as familiar as the sound of his heartbeat. Micha. "Aspen!" She hissed, knowing full well he would be awake. "Wake up you pointy-eared bastard! Do you want breakfast or not!" Then, after a full minute, she shuffled away. He chuckled ruefully and buried his face in his pillow. His ears were only delicately pointed. Not enough for anyone to really notice. She just points it out to annoy him. It doesn't bother him which annoys her. So in the end, she's the one annoying herself.

He sucked in a breath and stretched as far as his bed would allow his long limbs, and then released the air. With a sigh, he rolled over and made his way to the bathroom, as slowly as possible. He brushed his teeth, mussed his hair, and washed his face. The cool water helped him to wake up and felt real nice on his skin. He shuffled over to his closet and grabbed out a few things. He picked up his phone and checked his messages. None. Every night he went to bed hoping his mother would call or text, and every morning he was disappointed. Of course she wouldn't call or text. She couldn't. Not without endangering him. He scrubbed his face with his hands, still tired but definitely not able to back to bed.

With another sigh, he pulled on his shoes and headed out his door and towards the cafeteria.

[ignore the "Lila Evergreen" tag. I was planning on having him enter the cafeteria and have him talk to them but I thought I'd give her a chance to respond to Micha first.]

Micha listened intently to Lila's dream. Not because she was being polite but because she was actually very curious. She rarely had dreams. When she did, they were usually very personal and she woke up screaming... Dragons and fire that didn't hurt was much prefered over that even if Lila didn't think so. Micha took another bite of her sandwich just as Lila had asked her about her night. She chewed quickly and covered her mouth with her hand as she spoke. "I don't dream much," was all she said.

When Lila picked a time for Aspen to appear, Micha raised an eyebrow and grinned mischievously. "You'd put your money on it, huh? Well then. I wager 5 of Rosemary's chocolate chip cookies that he makes it within ten minutes."

Then Wendy entered the room. She felt a chill move up her spine as the girl walked by. Yes, she wasn't a fan. She was so icy and.. well snobbish. As if being a half-vampire made her any better than anyone in this room. Half-vampires weren't as rare these days as they had been in the past. Now a half-angel. That was rare. She only knew of one. Herself. Also, if someone as sweet and bubbly as Lila was put off by the girl then there was really something wrong there.

"I don't know." was all she replied with. She took another bite and nearly choked with laughter when Lila scrutinized her food. "Hey, don't knock it til you try it, Bubbles. You do realize that you're eating things mixed together too."

As Aspen made his way to the cafeteria, he noticed the halls were quiet with shuffling behind doors here and there. Many of the students prefered to either eat in their rooms, or decided against breakfast all together. He wasn't much of a breakfast person considering he always felt sick after waking, but Micha always insisted and Lila was there. Micha and her angelic metabolism. He shook his head. That girl could eat everything in the kitchen and would still be hungry.

The doors to the cafeteria came into view and, as he reached them, he pushed them open. There weren't too many students here now, but enough that he almost wished he was back in his room. He wasn't antisocial, but those that were in the room were not his favorite people. Molly was okay. Micha was his best friend. And Lila was probably his favorite person to spend time with, but the others made him cringe. As he passed by Wendeline, he tapped her on the opposite shoulder and continued walking, completely ignoring Eric, but he politely waved to Molly. She was practically bouncing in his chair which reminded him of Lila.

And there they were. Sitting together and chatting up a storm. Micha threw her head back in laughter, probably caused by a comment from Lila on her eating habits. Happened pretty much every morning. As he approached the table, he peeked at his watch. Four minutes until breakfast was considered over. He shrugged. Time to mooch off Micha's food. Not much a point in getting his own. Besides, he wasn't all that hungry anyway.

He sat down between Lila and Micha and picked up a piece of toast from the plate. "You both seem in high spirits today." He said by way of greeting. "Have I missed anything interesting? Has Wendeline flayed anyone alive yet?"

Kalen groggily opened eyes and peered out from under his covers. He wasn't really one to sleep in, but judging by the intensity of the light coming through his window it looked like he was already getting a late start. Kalen pushed himself out of bed, stumbling over to a dresser to find something half decent to throw on. Fashion wasn't his thing, and his wardrobe consisted of a lot of white and brown. He put on something acceptable before going to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face, laughing a little at his ruffled hair that was sticking up weirdly in the reflection.

Kalen's growling stomach made him remember that he was a little late waking up, so everyone else was probably heading to the dining hall, if they all weren't done eating already. Not really concerned with his hair anymore, Kalen made his way to the dining hall and just simply ran his fingers through his hair in an absent minded way to calm it.

Sure enough in the dining hall a few of the other halflings were gathered, most chatting- except for Wendeline. But that wasn't surprising. There weren't really a lot of people but that also wasn't surprising. People already had gotten their food and left, most likely. He concerned just grabbing breakfast and going too, but decided he was too hungry to walk all the way back. Plus, he didn't mind people.

"Morning," he called, waving a little bit to no one in particular, more just everyone in the room. He didn't know any of them that closely, but none of them were strangers either.

Not wasting time, Kalen went to get a tray. After a few moments of piling on different fruit and a few pieces of toast, Kalen looked back to decide if he should sit with people or not. Molly was always a ray of sunshine, but he wasn't sure if Eric and Wendeline would like him butting in. On the other hand, he knew Aspen and the others just as little.

Miles shook his head slightly as he watched Molly and Eric go, they truly were a strange pair. Not that he was one to judge what was strange and what wasn't. Then Miles turned his attention to his new found prize, chuckling he tossed it in the air a few times before pocketing it. This time he would definitely find a better hiding spot for it in his office. Eric always seemed to find his pocket knife.

Smiling he wandered down to the food bar and grinned as Rosemary tossed him an apple. His usual breakfast choice that he insisted on being tossed to him rather than passed on a plate. Miles could have sworn it always tasted better after a little air time. “My Rose, you are a goddess among women. A goddess!”
Miles smiled at the Island's only chef and gave her a finger gun with his free hand. Walking away Miles sheathed his finger gun in his pocket with a disgusted look on his face, "What is it with me and finger guns today?"
He said to himself.

Looking up Miles saw the fairy-boy Kalen looking over the seating options. Taking a bite of his apple, Miles approached the blonde boy smiling. Of course Molly would always be his all time favorite student, but the other fairy students were close seconds. "They don't bite, Kiddo," Miles whispered into his ear with a smile. Then he laughed maniacally, "Well, some of them do, but in these parts it's frowned upon." Miles took another bite from his apple smiling. "Plus, more often than not the biters are usually the vamps." Miles took a few steps away from Kalen, before immediately taking those few steps back. "Hey K," Miles said as he grabbed Eric's pocket knife and placed it on Kalen's tray of food. "This is Eric's, hide it for me would you. Ever since that fateful day, well, I just don't trust myself to be around sharp objects," he said melodramatically with a wink before continuing on to the teacher's lounge.

Miles kicked up his feet and absentmindedly did the puzzles in his newspaper. He finished his apple and coffee rather quickly. The word jumble and crossword really didn't give him much trouble. The comics were entertaining but there were only a few of those. Soon enough Miles was checking the time on the clock. He figured he'd given the kids enough time to eat and primp themselves in their mirrors. He headed out to the Dining Hall and with his arms outspread loudly proclaimed, "Ten more minutes before we go ahead without your beautiful faces!" Then he headed outside to the courtyard, the daily gathering spot, rain, hail, shine. Miles sat himself on one of the wooden tables, tapping his fingers on the wood below him.

Once the students were finished with their meals they would gather here to split off into training groups, led by the various teacher's on the Island. That was of course if the students decided they actually wanted to learn how to master their powers. If they decided not to show up it was on them. The teacher's weren't here to spend their days rounding up unwilling students.

"Hey, don't knock it til you try it, Bubbles." Lila tried her best to hide a warm smile at the nickname Micha had chosen for her. The fact that she adored the name when Micha called her it would be a secret she would take to her grave. "You do realize that you're eating things mixed together too."

Lila stared down at her plate of food in thought. "Yeah, but like, not like, I mean-"
Lila's face turned red with the effort as she tried to explain why it her food was different then the monstrosity Micha was eating. Then she crossed her arm and pouted like a stubborn child, "it's just different, and you know what I mean!"

"You both seem in high spirits today." Lila grinned brightly as soon as Aspen sat down next to her and Micha. He was definitely her favorite person to hang out with on the Island.

Lila grabbed Aspen's wrist to check the time on his watch. She never wore watches so she always enjoyed having Aspen close by since he was often wearing a watch. She grinned and stuck her tongue out at Micha when she saw there was exactly four minutes left of breakfast. "Guess I just know Aspen better than you," She said teasingly as leaned over and grabbed one of Rosemary's cookies off Micha's plate. Lila wasn't in a cookie mood but it was the principal of the bet.

"Have I missed anything interesting? Has Wendeline flayed anyone alive yet?"

Lila smiled at Aspen's comment about Wendeline. "No, but give it time, we've got a whole day left," she replied laughing, though then her gaze fell on Eric who was now sitting next to her. Her laughing stopped immediately. "If you ask me though, that other vampire kid is much more likely to," Lila added on very quitely, terrified is she spoke to loudly he might hear her. Who knows what he'd do if he overheard her. Lila didn't know much about him at all, but she didn't need to know much about him to know she didn't like him and he scared her. Even if Molly did vouch for him.

Then Lila looked away and forgot her previous anxiety smiling at Aspen. "By the way, you look great today! I'm loving this whole look you got going," She said happily. Of course Aspen wasn't wearing much different than he usually did, but Lila was always quick to compliment her friends.

Then Kalen, the half-fairy entered the room. Lila gave him a small friendly smile and watched him go pick up his food. She didn't know him too well, but he seemed alright. The only way to be sure about whether she liked him or not was to get to know him better though. So when she saw him checking out the tables she elbowed Aspen in the side and said to him and Micha, "One of you invite that Kalen guy to sit with us." Lila might have been the most talkative one of the three of them, but she was the most shy when it came to new people.

Soon Miles was standing in the Dining Hall trying to get everyone's attention. "Ten more minutes before we go ahead without your beautiful faces!"

Lila smiled to the table, "Guess we'd better hurry up!" Then she finished off her breakfast with a few more mouthfuls.

Micha laughed at Lila's frustration. It wasn't a mean laugh, but an amused one. She shook her head and took another bite of her sandwich. When Aspen arrived, much sooner than she had expected she might add, she sighed and pushed her tray towards Lila so she could grab a cookie.

"Lucky guess!" Micha argued, but leaned a little closer to Aspen and whispered. "Couldn't help an innocent angel out, now could you, ya pointy-eared bastard?" She nudged him which, of course, meant that his shoulder would bump into Lila's. Micha feigned innocence and ate the last bite of her sandwich. It was an excellent meal as it was every morning and would hold her over for... probably an hour if she was honest, but delicious none the less.

Kalen, the half-fairy like Molly, entered the dining area and gazed about the tables for a seat. Honestly, there were enough empty tables where he could sit by himself if he wanted, but he seemed to be the kind to want to eat with others. Which she understood considering she sat with the same airheads everyday. She elbowed the half-elf beside her again and said, "You should do it Aspen. Be a man!" She sat up straighter and flexed what muscles she had in her arms. It was more to be comical and less to be intimidating which she knew Lila and Aspen would understand, but she wasn't sure Kalen would understand.

Mr. Tremaine entered the cafeteria again requesting them to finish up their food before the class started without them and she practically inhaled the fruit still on her plates and went to put her plates and Lila's empty ones into the tubs for the staff to take to clean. "Better hurry!"

Aspen nibbled silently on his toast as he listened to his friends. His eyes watched the others as the moved about the large room. Kalen had entered, Tremaine had left, Molly, Eric, and Wendeline were sitting together, although he could see how much it bothered the half-vampire female to be around the other two. He had to admit, it took some balls for them to be sitting with her. The half-fairy boy moved across the room to the food and grabbed a tray.

He was knocked to the side as Micha bumped him, cutting off his concentration. His shoulder hit Lila's a little harder than Micha had probably intended and he turned to her. "Sorry about that. You know how she is," he whispered to the half-nymph. Then he turned to Micha and pushed her backwards slightly with a hand to her face. "Shove off. You're more innocent than you try to be Micha, you know that."

He shrugged. "It's the same as everyday." he replied bluntly. Lila requested someone ask the half-fairy to sit with them and Micha passed the proverbial torch to him and he sighed. He raised a hand and waved the boy down just as Tremaine came back into the cafeteria beckoning the students to join. He thought about skipping today, not too concerned with controlling his powers than he already did, but it was a good workout and Lila and Micha would both be there and would pout if he wasn't with them. Thoughts back on the task at hand he called out, "Kalen! Come sit with us for the three minutes and twenty four seconds you have left before breakfast ends!"

The morning sun was annoyingly playing across his eyelids. The merry light distracting him from the dreams of night clubs and loose women. Groaning in frustration Bo lifted a pillow to his face and pressed down hard. He had a mental image of the residents of the island finding him dead; suffocated by his own pillow. Deciding however that life was worth living at least another day however Bo got to his feet and regarded his room with narrowed eyes.

His room in a word was a mess, clothes were haphazardly placed all around and books could be found in every nook and cranny. He stepped over an old copy of Moby Dick and found a pair of dark jeans and pulled them on. After finding a stripped sweater and glancing in the mirror to ensure he looked a little presentable he stepped out of his room and into the hall. His long dreads swayed as he sauntered down towards the breakfast hall. Noting he had barely any time to eat made him sigh a little and when he stepped into the already crowded breakfast hall he sneered a little at those who caught his eye.

Not feeling overly social he stepped over towards where residents could collect their food and he grabbed an apple and a banana. The lunch lady gave him a stern look as he grabbed the basket of pastries she was in the midst of putting away and he took his sweet time selecting a danish and putting it in his mouth. He gave the lady a wink and then turned away from her without another word.

Miles was already out in the court yard waiting for the students to gather but there was no way Bo was about to go out there alone with the annoying man. Glaring at the tables he noticed Wendeline surrounded by a few others as well as Lila which was no surprise. Deciding he wasn't about to be left out he went over to Wendel's table and sat down heavily and gave the half vampire a little grin and looked over to Eric as well.
"Everyone seems entirely too cheerful this morning." Bo usually never bothered with Hellos. He found them a waste of time and preferred to get to business. He was frowning at the cheery breakfast hall and wished he could do something about those smiles. It was far to early for this. He sighed a little and took a large bite of his danish.

He was as ease despite the upcoming morning meeting, he would take his time getting there and he had no issues forcing others to wait for him. Though he knew all too well Miles would start with out him and would happily call him out on his bullshit, and so he decided he would be a little co-operative this morning and when the time came he joined the others outside.

"Ten more minutes before we go ahead without your beautiful faces!"

Kalen had barely finished piling food onto his plate before Miles announced their ten minute time limit. He knew he had woken up late, but he didn't think he'd have to inhale his food this morning just to make classes. Kalen was fully prepared to just take the nearest seat and scarf down his food, but just as he took a step to a table he saw Aspen gesture at him.

"Kalen! Come sit with us for the three minutes and twenty four seconds you have left before breakfast ends!" Kalen grinned, amused by his exact countdown for breakfast. He didn't know if Aspen was serious about the amount of time they had left, but just in case he didn't waste time taking a seat at the table.

"Hey guys," he said casually, despite the fact he had felt slightly awkward moments before. "I guess I slept in today." He gave a sheepish smile, not wanting to start a whole conversation when they only had minutes to eat. Kalen picked up his toast and finished it off quickly, trying his best to eat as much as he could before they all had to go. He technically didn't have to go, he supposed, but what else would he do all day?

Kalen hadn't been here long, and there was a lot that still confused him. Like the founder, who remained a mystery, and how the people here knew how to find half bloods. The other half bloods seemed alright though, and he kept meaning to make friends with more people.

Within moments his plate was nearly clean. "Guess we should go to training," he said, feeling weird calling it 'training'.

"Kalen! Come sit with us for the three minutes and twenty four seconds you have left before breakfast ends!" Aspen called out to Kalen causing Lila to laugh. He was always so precise, she always marveled at how he did it. It was one of the things she really liked about him, how smart he was. Lila would have loved to have so many facts and information in her brain, rather than that one jingle about washing machines they had always played on the radio.

Then Kalen approached their table. Lila looked down at her hands when he approached their table feeling a sudden bout of shyness in new company. Sure she was talkative to her friends, but not so much with people she didn't know as well. "Hey guys, I guess I slept in today." Lila let the silence kind of hang there a bit before she looked up and swallowed her sudden shyness.

Lila pointed at Aspen, "At least you not as bad as this guy. He sleeps in every day."
Lila paused for dramatic effect, "Like seriously every day. It's kind of impressive."
She grinned innocently to Aspen to him to show she meant no harm by her joke. Seriously though, he deserved the comment because he did sleep in everyday.

"Guess we should go to training," Lila looked back at Kalen, and went bug eyed when she saw his empty plate. How had he managed to put that much food away in such a sort time. At a moment she gave a sidelong glance at Micha and mumbled, "Guess you got some eating competition." The only other person she'd seen eat that much that fast was Micha.

Lila sighed, "suppose so," she said quietly getting up and dusting off invisible crumbs. She was a very clean eater. She smiled at her friends and started the walk through the corridors out to the courtyard where Miles would definitely be waiting. "I wonder what we will work on today," she mused to her present company. When she got to the courtyard she silently blended into the other students who had already arrived for the day's training.

[font=cambria][size=105]Miles was growing impatient. His mouth twitched with underutilized energy and his foot wouldn't stop tapping. So the moment the ten minutes were done, he jumped up excitedly holding out his hands. "Darlings," He drawled loudly, clapping twice like he was dressing school children. His chipper voice cutting off conversations. Most the students turn to look at him and he smiled exuberantly. "Hold still, I'm going to split you up." He called loudly as he stood of his tippy-toes pointing at people and calling off their names. He sent some off with Jackson the Half-Elf instructor, and others with the Half-Vampire instructor Davids. Then he looked back at the students he hadn't listed yet.

"Now what precious students do I have left. Bo, Wendeline, Molly, Eric, Kalen, Lila, Aspen, Micha. You lucky ducks get to hang with this handsome instructor." Miles grinned and smoothed his hair back dramatically. He moved over to the group rounding them up. He tried to intiate a huddle, slinging his arms around Bo and Aspen's necks. "All right guys. We have combat training at out Billygoat's clearing. Time to show these other punks who there messing with," He said mocking a drill Sargent tone. He put his hand in to the middle of the group trying to get everyone to join in, "So let's get moving, Hoorah!"

Billygoat's clearing was a small clearing in the forest that surrounded the Island. No one knows why it's called that. It's a ten minute walk from the main buildings and it is used a lot for training purposes so as Miles charged on ahead all the students knew exactly where they were going. In fact the path there was very well worn.

Miles arrived at Billygoat's clearing ahead of the pack. "Come on slowpokes!" He called. Though he did turn around and try to high five everyone as the wandered into the clearing. He stood in front of the group grinning. "All right let's pair up. Angel and Demon," he said shoving Micha and Bo together. "Fairy and Fairy," He put Molly and Kalen together with a wink. "Vampire and Vampire," He muttered moving Wendeline and Eric together. He paused in thought looking at who was left. "Nymph, Elf? Sure why not," Miles muttered shoving Lila and Aspen together since they were the only ones left.

He stood back and smiled, mostly impressed with his pairings. "So just find a space and may the best mix-breed win," He said grinning. Then he took a glance at the more scary students in his care and winced. "But you know, just fight each other to work on your skills, don't hurt anyone!" With that he nodded to himself and stepped back to observe his students and give pointers where they were due. "Begin!"

Micha froze as she felt something dark move through the room. It was something singing in her blood. She didn't bother to look at the doorway, though. She knew it was Bo, the half-demon. After he sat down at Wendelin's table with Eric and Molly, Micha calmed down. She smirked as Kalen sat down, but didn't say much of anything until, Lila commented on Micha having an eating speed rival. She grinned like a devil and said, "You're on fairy boy! Tomorrow morning, breakfast. She held out her hand to shake. Then, she pushed up from the table with the others and made her way outside. Lila wondered out loud what they would be doing today and the only thing she could think to say was, "Nothing good, I bet." Mr. Tremaine was waiting for them out by the trees with the others and almost as soon as they joined the group, he was leading them off to Billygoat's Clearing which, in Micha's opinion, was the dumbest name for a clearing. Weren't goats near mountains? She also raised her eyebrow at his sergeant impression. As if the guy couldn't get any stranger.

After hearing it was a combat trip she leaned closer to her friends and whispered, "Told you. Nothing good."

They came to the clearing and Mr. Tremaine stopped before them. "Come on slowpokes! All right let's pair up." She felt his hands push her forwards and she stumbled into someone. "Angel and Demon." Her mind and body froze. Bo. She stiffened, sucking in a sharp breath and took a step back. "Sorry.." She muttered. She couldn't hear who else got paired together over the sound of blood roaring in her ears. Distantly, she hoped that Aspen was paired with Wendelin so he could kick her snobby ass, but as soon as the thought crossed her mind, it disappeared into the noise.

Aspen smiled as the boy joined the table. He noticed that Lila was being timid and was about to give her a little nudge of encouragement when she joked about how late he slept in. Good Lila, he thought, Keep going. He just smirked. He didn't care to share his reasons for stalling breakfast with the new kid and he wasn't going to lie about it either so he opted not to say anything. Lila turned to him with an apologetic smile and he just shrugged. He didn't care what the boy thought. He realized she was joking and even if she wasn't it would bother him. He nearly laughed when Micha challenged the poor boy. "You better skip breakfast if you're going to take on a half-angel." he warned.

When the group got up to join the others, he hung back with Lila and whispered to her. "Hey, if you need to poke fun at me to get over your shyness then go for it. I don't care. I'm an easy target." They made it to the group just as they were making their way towards Billygoat's clearing. Aspen thought the name was ridiculous but only because there were no billygoats on the island and there was no one here that was of goat descendants like a satyr and no one named billy. To Aspen, it wasn't logical.

After they reached the clearing, Tremaine started breaking them up into sparring pairs. He didn't have time to react to Micha's comment before she was pushed into Bo, the half-demon. The others were paired up by species leaving him and Lila to be sparring partners. Before Tremaine gave the ok to start, Aspen quickly and quietly whispered to Lila. "You need to tell me right now if you want me to hold back, Lila. I don't want to hurt you if you're not ready for it."

Kalen raised an eyebrow at Lila's comment about his eating. They were in a rush, he rushed. Were they not able to eat that fast? Besides Micha that is, who now looked at him with some new found competitiveness. "You're on fairy boy! Tomorrow morning, breakfast," the half angel challenged, grinning. Kalen found a smirk forming, not one to back down from a challenge. Kalen barely even glanced at Aspen as he warned him against competing with Micha, instead reaching out and taking Micha's outstretched hand to shake it.

"Breakfast it is."

Now everyone (mostly) having finished, people were filing out to meet Miles and start training for the day. Kalen followed everyone out, and listened to Miles split up everyone up into training groups. His breakfast mates, himself, and few others were put into a group with Miles himself, and then immediately paired off for sparring.

Kalen got paired with Molly, nothing surprising there. He did notice however that the Angel-Demon pairing made Micha kind of tense up and zone out. Kalen didn't know if Micha and Bo got along, but one would assume not given their race. Her reaction somewhat confirmed his assumption. Being helpful wasn't really his thing, but he figured it couldn't hurt to try. "Hey, you gonna be okay?" he asked, putting a hand on her shoulder to try and draw her out of her daze.

His fellow fairy looked a little uneasy about fighting when he finally walked over to her, or maybe she just was naturally timid. Kalen himself wasn't really all that excited about fighting her either. He was stronger than her probably, but that didn't mean he wanted to fight her. No, he had something else in mind. Everyone was in the clearing, but the forest wasn't too far off.

"Hey, Molly," Kalen called, "Do wanna play tag in the forest?" He kept his voice low enough that Miles wouldn't hear, not that Miles would probably mind that much. "I mean, running is kinda like training," he grinned, "right? We can fight another day."

Before Micha had a chance to brace herself, Bo had placed the apple core on her head, and beamed it away. She froze. He was so close. She could feel the heat, the power that flowed through his demonic veins. Her eyes darted to Aspen, who was paying her little attention as he turned towards Lila for their own lesson. She began to panic. It just had to be Bo, didn't it. Mr. Tremaine had a death wish.

Her eyes snapped back to him as he let out a low laugh and then rushed forward. He grabbed her, pinning her to the ground. At his touch, a shiver moved up her spine. She was burning. She closed her eyes and forced herself to focus. He shoved her down, holding her in place at her shoulders with his hands. "Stay down Micha." he growled.

She wanted to. Oh she wanted this to be over, but something deeper. Some instinctual part of her told her to fight back. Her father was a soldier. Fighting was in her blood. Fighting demons was in her blood. And she had. to fight. back. She roared, crossing her arms over her chest and grabbing onto his wrists. Her hands were like hooks. She slammed her elbows down, trying to break his hold, but of course he was stronger than that.

Plan B.

She lifted her hips and then slammed them down, hopefully breaking his hold on her. She twisted to knock him off her, before moving as far from him as possible. At least, that was her plan.

[[Now it's up to you Bone. If it works, it works, if not then -shrug- she'll figure something else out]]

Lila grinned at Miles. A silent thank you for pairing up with Aspen. Out of all the people she was friends with on the island, Aspen was most likely to take it easy on her. Lila was small and without any real muscle, Nymphs were made for dancing and fun not to survive a beatdown. She'd been working hard though in training. If she had any real chance of making it on the outside she'd have to learn to hold her own which is why when Aspen whispered, "You need to tell me right now if you want me to hold back, Lila. I don't want to hurt you if you're not ready for it." Lila took on a sulky look.

"Don't you dare Elf-Boy,"
She said taking a step back and lowering herself slightly closer to the ground like she'd been taught. Since she was so small lowering her center of gravity was practically the only way she could even dream of fending off an attack. Then she crossed her hands together and looked at Aspen's feet, forcing the grass to grow up and around his shoes. She'd hopefully caught him off guard before he'd even realized they'd begun. She grinned at him teasingly. "Catch me if you can."
Despite what she'd said about him not taking it easy on her, she wasn't too worried. She knew he'd probably go easy on her anyway.

Crouching down Lila put a hand on the dirt. She could feel the roots of a large tree off the side of the clearing growing down under her and Aspen. Good. She could use that if she needed too. Unfortunately though when she was checking out for roots she looked down at the ground taking her eyes off Aspen. If he came at her though she'd spring the roots from the ground trying to grab one of his ankles.

Miles felt Verra's presence behind the tree line before she made herself known. He'd been hunting the half-bloods since before any of the students on this island had even been born. He would have been a rather alrge fraud if he hadn't been able to sense a half-blood at such close quarters. It was his connection the wind that allowed him to do. As a half-fairy he'd really never been all that good with weather. Couldn't make it rain or shine for the life of him. The wind however, it spoke to him. It's had been calling his name since what felt like eternity. The founder used to say Miles was much like the wind, at a distance playful and in your face. However the winds moves mysteriously and no one ever knows where it's been or where it's going.

"No! No words." Verra said shutting up Miles right as his mouth was open to make a witty and possibly punny remark. Or at least he thought it would have been witty. Instead he grinned knowingly and mouthed 'nice to see you here.' They'd all been where Verra was. Early morning and obviously hungover. Of course it had been a long time since for Miles. He'd been sober for 14 years, 4 months, and 7 days. Yes he still counted the days. Of course that might be because that wasn't the only thing he'd given up back then.

"Shouldn't we show them some new moves? Wouldn't be much of a class if one of us didn't get our rear ends handed to us." Verra suggested.

Miles chuckled. "I take it, that it's me you want to take the fall?"
He grinned as he watched the students make there first move. Some were good some not so good. "I was waiting for someone to make a mistake so then I could call them and make an example of them in front of the group. I really find it builds morale that way,"
Miles joked, grinning to himself. His eyes flicked over to Kalen and Molly, and Kalen suggested ditching into the woods. Of course he thought he was being quiet and discreet but as Instructors, both Miles and Verra had been at this longer than him. Of course she would have heard his suggestion as well. As the fairy-children of the Island Miles was really not inclined to stop them. He gave Verra a look, "You gonna make me put a stop to that?"

Then Miles pointed across the clearing at Lila. "See that, she's taken her eyes off her opponent. You know she does that every time. We really got to whip this kids into shape if they are ever going to survive out there." Sighing Miles looked over at Verra knowing she was right about showing the group some moves. "So then, I guess I'm your willing dummy," he said holding out his hands, "What moves you want to show them?" He knew that by demonstrating for the group, Verra meant she would do the ass-kicking and he'd end up with bruises and on his ass. Not just Verra either he'd have to let all the kids try out the new move on him.

As Micha rolled away, Bo reached for her, his fingers sending sparks up her arm where the made contact, but he couldn't hold her. She moved too far too quickly. The thought to keep running crossed her mind, but it was cowardly and she was not a coward. She stood and prepared for another attack as she watched him brush the dirt from his clothes. To her horror, his eyes were glittering with violence and pleasure at taking her down. She could hear the crack of his knuckles from where she stood.

"The little Angel has some bite to her after all. Alright little girl, I'm so impressed I'll let you have the next shot." She looked him up and down and attempted to plan out her next attack. He was prepared for her to hit him. So she needed to do something else. Her eyes wandered back up to his face and stayed there. The look in his eyes made her heart race, but she wouldn't give away her plan. She took a deep breath and then ran forward and dived for his legs.

Her plan was to knock him down and then hit him with all she had. If he anticipated her act, she probably wouldn't get a hit off, but she could try.

"Don't you dare, elf boy, Lila said. He nodded and squared his shoulders preparing to fight. He hoped she was telling the truth. He didn't want to hurt her. He felt something move up his shoes and looked down to find the grass holding onto his feet. He easily broke free and started racing towards her. Her hand was on the ground now, probably checking for anything she could use to trap him which is what he expected. She always went for the offensive of using her plants to trap. He had yet to see her use them as a weapon. He began to zigzag to avoid any roots that would catch his feet.

His eyes darted around, looking for anything he could toss at her. The tree behind her had some large nuts of some sort growing and there was a large rock to his right. He darted behind it and called to his telekinesis to shake the trees. He hoped the nuts would fall and distract her, but he didn't wait to find out. He ran from behind the rock and appeared behind her. He reached to wrap his arms around her in a lock. It would be over, if she didn't evade him.

Lila clicked her tongue at Aspen zig-zagged. Of course he knew her tactics. She frowned in concentration as she got the roots to spring from the ground, but he moved to fast. The closest she got to trapping him one of the roots lightly brushed his ankle. Then Aspen ducked behind the rock. "Got you hiding have I?"
She called out laughing lightly, knowing full well he wasn't hiding. Just planning something. Lila crouched a little her eyes darting around whilst keeping her eyes on the rock Aspen was hiding behind. She knew he could use his telekinesis on anything around so she'd have to stay prepared.

Lila's head whipped around when she heard some rustling from behind her. A few nuts fell from the tree and Lila's eyes whipped around looking for what had dropped them. Of course she realized the moment she felt his arms around her that was what Aspen had wanted her to do. He put her into a hold and she immediately tapped out. "No, no. I'm out."
She said as best she could from his hold tapping him lightly on the arm. Then she wriggled trying to get out of his hold.

Lila took a few breaths to steady herself after the fight. She was slightly annoyed at being bested, but then she rememebered it was Aspen who had beaten her. So she turned and grinned cheerfully up at him. "You did great! You're way better than I'm even going to be. Perhaps I should never leave this Island." Lila laughed.

Then Lila looked around at how the other pairs were doing. She smiled when she saw Micha and Bo were next to them and had also finished. "Did you win?" She called out to Bo excitedly with a smile. She liked Bo so she automatically assumed there was no way he lost his little spar.

[font=cambria][size=108]Miles turned from Verra and watched the group start fighting keeping his eyes out for any trouble. He wasn't worried. He knew for a fact before any of the students could seriously hurt anyone he'd easily be able to cross this field and stop them in time. He gave an easy smile to Verra hiding his concentration. He eyes mostly watched Micha and Bo fight. That one wasn't a coincident. The founder had wanted them to fight. An experiment of sorts. Could an Angel and Demon overcome their blood?

Miles sighed when he saw Bo go in for his final move. He was practically next to them n an instant, but he stopped himself when he saw Bo give up. "This is stupid. I'm done." Miles frowned and took a few steps back, he wished that Bo had stopped fighting for a more optimistic reason.

"I told you, it's pointless," Miles mumbled under his breath to himself. Fairly sure he messaged would have carried to the founder in her locked room. He walked up to Micha and Bo with a grin, "Well, wasn't that exciting." He looked over at Aspen as his fight finished. "Elf Boy get over here and help Micha up," He called out to Aspen and winked mischievously at Micha. He could sense the electricity in the air and knew what would happen. "You did well against someone bigger than you," he said kindly to Micha.

Then he took the few steps over to Bo. "Cocky." He said folding his arms with a goofy smile. "You get paired up against the little blonde Angel and you think it's going to be a walk in the park," Miles said lightly looking not at Bo but out at the tree line.

Then Miles felt something in the wind. Frowning he immediately dropped his goofy his goofy smile and frowned. He walked over the tree line his palms out trying to connect with the wind. He eyes searched into the trees without seeing anything but then he felt the sharp change. "GET BACK!" He screamed at the students as he backed up a few steps. Seconds later multiple bullets shot through the tree towards the clearing. He waved his arms calling on the wind, the wind picked up sharply and Miles managed to send to bullets flying away from the clearing. He knew they were Hunter bullets which meant they were coated in a poison that would subdue one's supernatural side.

"Run! Into the tree line," he yelled again at the students hoping the bullets added some gravity to what he was saying. In normal situations he was sure the students would not have listened to him. He followed all the students away from the clearing and back into the forest. Miles turned back again quickly to wave his arms and the second round of bullets to fly astray. Running back into the group he kept his voice low but strong enough to travel to the entire group. "It's hunters, go back to the institute stay there." His voice left no room for arguing. "I'm going to go distract them."

With the miles left the group running back through the clearing to the left. He looked back and saw five of the hunters had followed him and two had gone off after the students. Lucky he'd worn the bright vest today. More bullets were shot in his direction. This time it was easier as he used the wind to just shift the directions of the bullets away from him, not a whole group. He took off and covered quite a bit of group. He ducked down taking cover as he recovered his breath. Stopping those bullets had really taken it out of him. Sighing he left his cover and took off again.

"No, no. I'm out." Lila said, surrendering. She wiggled a bit in his arms, and he realized that he had held on to her a little longer than necessary. There was this strange... twitch inside him as he let go. It was a small twinge of regret that he couldn't quite understand. "You did great! You're way better than I'm even going to be. Perhaps I should never leave this Island." she said with a smile. He figured she was joking, but it didn't change the fact his answer was serious. "If you stick with that attitude, you might as well. You need to focus on your opponent. Learn to read them and you'll know the best time to use your powers against them." He said as he pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. "But once you do, you may even best me."

Suddenly, Tremaine called from the sidelines. "Elf Boy get over here and help Micha up." For the first time, he remembered that there were others in the fight and he turned in search of his friend. She was still on the ground, breathing strangely and he began to notice the hairs of his arm rising in response to electrical stimuli. He knew what would happen if he touched her, but it was obvious she needed help. He sighed and walked towards her hoping it wouldn't hurt too much. Normally, one would assume that Aspen would be furious with Bo for pushing Micha to this point, but Aspen was a logical person. Micha was on her own in the fight and if she couldn't hold her own, then it was on her. Besides, he had seen her fight. He knew that she could handle herself well. He reached her, and grabbed a hold of her arm. A sharp shock went up his arm and he hissed, but it wasn't as bad as he was expecting. Just like that, all the electricity in the air faded and he pulled his friend to her feet. "Are you alright?" He asked her.

Before she gathered the strength to respond, there were sounds of gunfire and Tremaine yelled for them to run and head for the institute. He grabbed Micha's arm and pulled her into the treeline. Her legs weren't moving as quickly as necessary and he decided to carry her instead. His plan was to at least get her to the doors of the institute and then he'd go back for the others. He was one of the fastest runners thanks to his half-elf blood. The school loomed before him and he set Micha down gently. Then he darted back into the trees and headed towards the clearing. Without really thinking about it, he was determined to get Lila to safety.

Micha's chest was tight and her hair was beginning to rise. If she didn't release a spark soon, the whole clearing was in for the shock of their lives. Water users were going to really feel it, though she didn't think there were any users in the clearing at the moment. Then she felt a hand on her arm and gasped as her powers were released. She looked up and saw Aspen. His eyes were narrowed in pain, but the look quickly passed as he helped her to her feet. She held onto his arms until she was sure she could stand without collapsing. She was still shaking from the fight. She had been so close to being seriously hurt and she was a disappointment to her father. She closed her eyes and mentally cursed herself for losing. Then she made a vow that the next time, she would take him down.

She was shaken from her thoughts by the sound of gunfire. She hadn't even heard Aspen ask if she was okay. Before she had a chance to really realize what was happening, Aspen grabbed her wrist and pulled her into the trees. He ran towards the institute but her legs couldn't keep up with his. Eventually, he lifted her from the ground and carried her in his arms. She was a little embarrassed, but decided it was better than stumbling through the woods away from whoever was shooting. They reached the school and he placed her gently on the grass. Once he ran back towards the forest, she pushed herself to standing and made her way inside to warn the other teachers. Then she stood at the door, ready to help the others inside. She wasn't entirely sure how the other fights were going and if anyone else was hurt. She wasn't a fast runner and she didn't trust her legs, so here was the best place to be. She could only hope that they would be okay.
