Name: Ken
Age: 17 (because he's joining in late, why not?)
Hero/Villain: Hero
Gender: Male
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 177 lbs
If one word can come to mind when gazing upon the figure of the castaway ninja, it would be perfect. Not in the beauty sense, since many scars run up and down his body, tainting it's complexion. But in a health-sense, this would be true. For muscle definition is easily seen, and there does not appear to be any sort of unneeded body-fat hidden anywhere on him. He stands at a healthy height, and he weighs a bit more than some due to his aforementioned muscle, giving him a stature of someone who could intimidate you simply by looking
down on you. And this is all able to be told through his outfit, which only makes it scarier.
Most would come to think he hopped right out of some ninja-storybook, with the way his armor appears. The navy-blue outfit, complete with a face mask and traditional designs have you immediately thinking 'ninja' within the first glance of him, even if his suit doesn't come across as 'quiet'. But, that assumption would be true, since Ken doesn't rely on the shadows during fights, unless such is absolutely necessary, or beneficial in some way. When in uniform, he's typically out of place no matter what the location is.
Strange enough, considering all that he is and appears, Ken does not ever usually give off the sort of intimidation you'd expect him to give, with the exception to this rule being his genuine anger. He actually does show his face, and he does smile, and he does a lot of the stuff that one would never expect a ninja to do. Ken has longer black hair, emerald green eyes (that shine golden when he's fighting), and carries with him a demeanor nobody quite understands from him. He's more than he appears, but nothing less.
Abilities:
Mental Immunity -
One of the base mental teachings his clan was given, Ken is immune to any and all forms of mental interference, whether that be mind-control/reading, Empathy, or other. Ki Manipulation -
Taught to manipulate the hidden power within, Ken possesses the ability to manipulate his Ki energy. So far, he is able to add a bit of extra 'oomph' to his attacks, or form temporary shields on himself or his allies.Teleportation -
By all looks and appearances, Ken teleports. However, such is not the case. Ken is, to a degree, able to move at speeds unseen to the human eye, allowing him to appear where he pleases within seconds. He does require a two-second focus time before doing so, and cannot simply continue like that for extended duration. Skills:
Martial Arts (Mastery) -
Ken doesn't just throw punches; he launches them. He is at his most dangerous at close range, and is an expert at hand-to-hand combat, able to throw precise punches, accurate kicks, and devastating attacks with little effort. Sword Master (Expert) -
When Ken does bring himself to use a weapon - he uses his blades. Compared to his hand-to-hand abilities, he's a bit less skilled, but easily more deadly. Staring Contests -
Some of the training Ken went through was odd, but each thing had its purpose. Ken is able, if willed, to stare straight without blinking for at least two days (which would be considered lacking to his clan). Hiding -
Now, if Ken wants to disappear, he can. If there's a shadow and he steps into it, you're unlikely to find him until he wants you to. Of course, he would be a master of hiding as he is in fact a ninja, but he always had an odd personality for a ninja anyways, and doesn't rely on the shadows too much. Weaknesses:
Teleportation -
Because he is not actually teleporting, Ken would not be able to simply teleport out of a room, and is able to be confined, if you can catch him.Technology -
Ken knows how to use a TV (somewhat) as well as some of the basic household items like it, however, he is mostly unaware of how to operate computers, cell phones and most anything else.Breakdowns -
Essentially, everything that makes Ken who he is is based solely on a sound mindset. If, somehow, someone were able to cause him to go into a depression or mentally shatter him, then he'd be unable to use his abilities until he returned to his calm state of mind. Secretly, this happens quite often, at night, due to personal reasons. Personality:
Ken can be described in a multitude of different ways. For he, although born to be, is not really a ninja any longer, only holding on to a title he is no longer worthy. You see, Ken does not act like the rest of his clan, for the most part, which is why many are confused when first they meet him. He is nice, caring and sometimes even funny, in contrast to expectations. While he should bow, be silent, and speak only when necessary, he instead talks casual (in a sense) and does so when he decides to, hoping not to be left out of anything if possible. If he wills it, you'll never see the 'ninja' part of him while talking to him, unless you look quite deeply.
He was trained.... well, for a lot of things. Combat, scouting, resilience and speed are only a few of the many things he was taught. And, considering the fact that he did pick up on these things, he shouldn't act the way he does - like a person. He enjoys helping others if need be, or preventing catastrophes in the form of a bank-robbery gone wrong, or a home invasion. "Good" is the moral alignment in which he considers himself, not "neutral", to which his clan would be considered. Ken dislikes any talk about innocent deaths being necessary, and actively works against such a thought. He, willingly, puts himself and his pride as a member of his clan after the lives of some innocents who have been attacked by someone, be it a supervillain or a common thug. Because unlike his former friends and family, he does not do "As balance dictates", but follows his heart to what is right and wrong.
If you want a basic summary of how Ken will act, it's simply: Nice to those who deserve it, aggressive towards those who would harm the innocent, and crack the occasional mostly-subtle joke. He is one to get along with others, and does try to earn enemies or dislike to himself, and prefers to avoid such things. As a hero, he has the correct traits and mindset to be called such.
Likes: Peace, Meditation, exercise
Dislikes: Violence, murder, Reality-TV
Equipment:
Ken's Armor -
His ninja-suit. It provides decent protection from attacks of all kinds, especially in the torso area. Dual Katanas -
The two blades he keeps on his back, when in uniform. Often, he uses his ki to instead inflict blunt damage, rather than actually cutting people, since he prefers to avoid fatalities.History:
Hidden in relative proximity to Jump City is the Blades of Balance, a clan of ninjas who believe that the world should be held together by the balance of both good and evil. It is there where Ken was born, the son of the master of the clan. From a young age, he began his extreme training instead of playing, like normal boys and girls often do. And, as expected, he soon rose to the top of his classes as he grew, becoming the warrior that his father wanted him to be. However, when he became a teen, and formed his own ideas, things started to take an undesirable turn, for him and for his father. And maybe even for the clan itself.
Because the clan was taught that both good and evil were necessary for the balance to be withheld, and that was something Ken never quite agreed with. He, oftentimes, began to get punished when he spoke his opinion on the matter, told that such thinking was forbidden, for it only shifted the scale towards one end. Even to this day, he is unsure as to why they feared the scale of life shifting towards good. But such punishments got more severe over time, and this only served to fuel Ken's fire - He could not believe that when there was time of peace, that starting some kind of criminal activity from behind the scenes was in any way helping anything. So, he continued to speak out, hoping for his words to reach someone's ears... but to no avail. And soon, he became a problem for the clan. If he was going to think like that, then surely he would not be helping the clan keep the balance, and surely, he was of no use to them.
If he hadn't already realized that instead of being cast out, they were going to kill him, then he might not be here today, but he is no fool. He used the very same teachings they gave him to escape them, fleeing to Jump City, where maybe he could make a difference.
By the time his seventeenth birthday would come to pass, he had used his abilities to interfere with his clan's operations. He had used them to stop murders, robberies, accidents, even. Hell, he even met some crazy woman who had a heart of gold, so life couldn't be too bad, right? And one day, he received a letter asking him to be a part of a clan that would do the same... how could he resist?
Extras: Ken sleeps where nobody can find him.
