Jordyn Ellis

District 12 Female, Age 16

0 · 326 views · located in Panem

a character in “The 10th Annual Hunger Games”, originally authored by gperry88, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name:
Jordyn Ellis

Age:
16

Gender:
Female

District:
12

Personality:
Jordyn is a selective mute. Though she does talk, she won't utter a word if she decides not to. Being a selective mute, Jordyn finds it hard to make friends. Not that she wants any, anyway. She is very secretive, and distrusting. But she is also very calm in emegencies and does not panic. She never cries or screams and never loses her temper.

History:
The only people Jordyn really trusts are her family. She has an older sister named Tawni (19) and a younger brother named Cam (8). She has very loving parents and they would do anything for her or her siblings. She loves her brother, and would do anything for him.

When she was about 12, her disorder led her to being the subject of bullying. After a while, she could not take it any more. She ran away into the woods outside her district, and lived there for a week before she was found. During her time in the woods, she learnt about plants and animals, and found ways to survive without man-made items. Afterwards, she read books on how to survive in the wilderness, and learnt everything she could to put more food on the table for her family.

Weapons:
Bow and arrow (District 12 specialty)

Strengths:
Very intelligent, can run fast and is very agile.

Weaknesses:
Selective mute and can't face killing another person directly.

Token:
Silver locket necklace with a picture of her and her family inside.

Appearance:
Jordyn is tall and slim, standing at 5' 7" and 120 lbs. She has brown hair which reaches just past her shoulders. She also has hazel brown eyes with feminine features. Her build is normal, if a bit on the thin side. She has a little bit of muscle, but it does not show. She has lightly tanned skin dotted with freckles on her nose.

She likes wearing singlets and t-shirts in camouflage colours. She wears pants in dark colours, and doesn't usually wear skirts as they are impractical. She doesn't really get cold, but when she does she wears a dark coloured jacket. Her favourite item of clothing is her knee-high lace up boots. She likes practical clothing, but enjoys dressing up occasionally.

Crush:
None, yet. She doesn't like falling for people because she knows she will be rejected.

So begins...

Soon enough, the chariot ride finished. I relaxed my facial muscles and breathed in deeply. I gave Zach a look of pleased relief and turned to face Loganin and our stylists.

"Fabulous! Wonderful! I knew you kids could pull it off....." chattered Loganin.

I grinned, properly, for the first time since I had been reaped. It felt good to be praised. I glanced around the area, seeing some of the tributes staring at our wings, then quickly glancing away when I spotted them. Soon, we went back to the apartment to get ready for the next day. I was really worn out, and barely had enough energy to have a quick shower. Yet again, it left my hair and body smelling blissful. I pulled on a silk white nightdress, then walked outside to say goodnight to Zach, Loganin and Tabitha. When I went back into my room, I basically collapsed on to my frilly pink bed. I thought for a moment about Zach, and how handsome he had looked today, and how much I wished we didn't both have to die. Then, I fell asleep.

"Fabulous! Wonderful! I knew you kids could pull it off....." chattered Loganin.

It seemed to make Zach just a bit happier; he had done the chariot ride as good as possible, he had nailed it, per say. During the trip back to the apartment that they were staying at, Zach began to feel the strain of nervousness on him. His eyes didn't want to stay open, and by the looks of it, Jordyn's eyes were the same. He would've taken a shower, had Jordyn not thought that same way, so, he went into his room and waited.

A few minutes passed and Jordyn's shower had ended, prompting the boy to at least wash his face. Sweating occured during the chariot ride, so he'd at least wipe that off. When he was heading for his room, Jordyn popped out of her room to say good night to him, wearing a good silk nightdress. He idly waved his hand at her and said the same as he continued to his room, thinking she looked good in just about everything she wore.

He fell into his bed, a thought across his mind and not a pleasant one either. This thought nagged at him, as he knew it wasn't a thought he wanted to think. He knew that there was a slight chance for district twelve to win. As long as they stayed together and out of trouble, they could live for a bit. However... the thing that was bugging him was when they were the only two left alive... only one was to leave.

It was a stupid rule. Why couldn't they both just live? Why couldn't they both be crowned the winners? As if fighting for their lives weren't bad enough, one of them would have to kill the other. Zach couldn't really choose. Should he kill her so that he would be able to help his ill parents? Or should it be the other way around? She must've had somebody she needs to look after. He swore he'd protect her, he couldn't just go and kill her after that, could he?

He stayed up late that night.

I woke with a start. It was time to get started with training. I went into the bathroom, and did my hair in a quick ponytail. A pair of pants in black and a shirt with "12" printed on the back were hanging from a coathanger on the back of the door. I slipped them on, they fitted perfectly. A pair of black combat boots were at my door, so I put them on. They were my favourite sort of shoes, and one of the few pieces of clothing I had seen here that I liked. I made my way outside for breakfast, but only took a piece of toast with butter. I felt as though if I ate any more I would throw it up in nervousness and exitement. Tabitha soon emerged from her room, dressed and ready to accompany us to the training centre.

"Neither Zach or Loganin seemed to have come out of their rooms yet, and I want to get going. I think I'll take you down, and I'll come back for Zach after he's up." she said.

I gave a nod and went with Tabitha to the training centre, where some tributes had already started training. A boy was sitting to the side, his head covered in blood. It was quite disgusting, and I wanted to help him, but he was going to be my rival and I would have to just get used to the blood and gore. I didn't know where to get started. A pretty blonde girl was learning about plants, and I though about going over to impress her with my knowledge, but I decided to keep it to myself. I decided to warm up with a few tricks, so I did a few backflips and somersaults over to the bow and arrow station. My ancestors had passed down the ancient art of archery, it was a well kept district 12 secret. I shot a couple of arrows, but they all landed on target so I decided to train something I didn't know much about. I walked over to a station where a man was standing alongside two swords.

"Uhm, could you t-teach me a little about c-close combat?" I said.

He gave me a smile, and handed me a sword. He taught me how to stand properly with a sword, and practiced a few moves with me. He told me I would get it after a bit of practice. I only hope so.

Leo ditched the idea of waiting for the others and was already at the sword station. He was practicing moves on a dummy, when a district 12 girl came by. He watched her train with the instructor. She was sloppy with the sword. Leo was expecting more from her since he saw her practically DESTROY the dummy in archery. He was even considering adding her unto the career team.

He walked over to the district 12 girl and sinisterly whispered in her ear, "I do hope your using the bow and arrows, because you ain't gettin' NOWHERE with that sword", and walked off to the center of the training centre with a smirk.

"I do hope your using the bow and arrows, because you ain't gettin' NOWHERE with that sword" whispered a voice into my ear.

I flipped around. A boy was walking away from me, smirking. He was the boy from district 1. I was fueled by anger, and all I wanted to do was smash his head open. But smashing people's heads never got you anywhere, and plus, I didn't have the guts. Instead I tapped him on the shoulder, to alert him to watch me. I threw the sword in the air, and did a backflip. I kicked the sword while I was in midair, then landed. The sword then came down, and I caught it without looking.

"Think again." I breathed.

When Zach woke up, he regretted thinking about things. His previous state of mind kept him up longer than he wanted, and now he wasn't as awake as he could be. With a grunt, he pushed himself off the bed and dressed himself in a black t-shirt and jeans, figuring that wearing something nice would be a waste since he was to be training or something.

"I wonder what Jordyn's going to wear to the training room...." he thoughts relaxed on this idea to entain him. When he opened the door and looked around, low and behold, there she wasn't. Her bedroom door was left open, so she wasn't there. With his deductive skills, he figured that she must've already left. "Damn...." he muttered. He wasn't one to enjoy being left behind.

After a brief and lonely breakfast, Tabitha walked through the door. "Come on, lets get going." she stated. Guess Zach wasn't going to finish his breakfast. But, he wasn't about to complain. He stood up and walked out the door, Tabitha leading the way. Loganin was probably still sleeping, as far as Zach knew.

Once a short walk had been accomplished, they arrived at the training area. Zach's eyes locked onto something. It wasn't the other tributes, it wasn't the bloody one, it wasn't anything other than Jordyn doing something with a sword. It looked awesome, but dangerous nonetheless.

"That's err.... a pretty cool trick you've go there." Zach said as he walked over. However, his eyes quickly scanned the boy next to Jordyn, and Zach didn't seem to pleased with him. Instantly by looking, he could tell the boy had a cocky air about him, and he seemed to be a douchebag overall. He waited for the boy to talk before deciding, but he was almost instantly sure of this. "So.... a sword?" he said, something about it attracted him. Like he was destined to use it. He'd never used weapons when beating up bullies, but he'd need one if he were to win.

"That's err.... a pretty cool trick you've go there." Zach said as he walked over to me. His eyes flickered over to the district 1 boy next to me, and I could tell he didn't seem to like him either. "So.... a sword?" he said.

"Thanks. The sword? I'm not sure, I'm better with a bow and arrow. Here, you try." I said.

I handed the sword over to him.

When she handed the sword to him, Zach felt as if he was graced by the gods, as if he just accepted something forged in the skyforge for him to use in order to pave a way through the douchebags of the other districts to save his own. He took it, almost as if it were made out of glass and held it in the air.

"It's mine..." he mumbled, rather content. He swung it with great force in a diagnal direction (Away from Jordyn, of course) and instantly felt as if a part of him long since missing had returned. "So... I've got sword, you've got bow...... I'll make sure at least one of us gets our weapon in the games...." he told her.

Zach took the sword, and held it in the air. He mumbled something, then swung it. It looked as though the weapon had been built just for him. He was a natural, slashing the air with precision.

"So... I've got sword, you've got a bow...... I'll make sure at least one of us gets our weapon in the games...." he told her.

I was touched at his kindness. I really hoped that we could stick together as allies throughout the games. I smiled.

"Thanks. I really hope we can get them before any one else does." I said.

I looked around, finding many empty stations. My eyes flickered towards the wilderness survival station. It was time for me to use my knowledge.

"Hey, do you want to try wilderness survival station?" I asked Zach.

"Hey, do you want to try wilderness survival station?" she asked Zach

"Err...I guess.... I'm not the best at survival-ey type things, I must admit. Though I guess that means I should learn, doesn't it?" he laughed sheepishly. "Anyways, carry on, my fellow district twelvian." he proclaimed in a older english accent.

The fact is, Zach could start a fire and find food. He just couldnt do it proficiently. So, he'd need to learn a few tricks, lest he wants to die of starvation or food poisoning.

I laughed. We made our way over to the wilderness survival station. The instructor was placing some yellow flowers in a pile. I pointed at them.

"Jewelweed, otherwise known as impatiens capensis. Good for healing rashes." I said confidently.

The instructor looked up, suprised.

"How did you know that?" he asked.

"Err, I just k-know stuff." I said, my hesitancy to speak back now I didn't know what to say.

He nodded. He held out another plant to me.

"Dock, rumex. Edible, or used for treating stinging nettle." I said.

He gave me a smile.

"Well done. Now, how about I show you two a few tricks?" he said.

I already knew most of the things he showed us, but I practised them anyway. We learned about all the survival tactics, including camoflage, firemaking, wild edible items, knots, hammock making and shelters. The instuctor was impressed with how well I could do with these things, especially since I was from district 12, the underprivileged district. When we finished, I decided to retire for the day. It was getting late, and some of the tributes had already left. I went back to the apartment to have a bit of dinner before having a shower. For the first time, I was awake enough to decide what to wear to bed. I put on a simple white singlet and shorts. I fell into bed with the decision that I would try all the different weapons the next day.

Although he knew not of anything about plants that he was told, he got the firemaking and shelter skills down relatively fast. Those were most important, after all. He didn't know which plants were deadly to eat, and which weren't, so he'd avoid them unless Jordyn said otherwise, as she appeared to know about them for one reason or another.

While the teacher gave smiles as he learned that Jordyn was skilled in this field, he didn't appear to like Zach too much. Zach could feel this just by his tone, let alone how much his face revealed. From the scan, Zach could tell that the man assumed that Zach was all muscle and no brains; a caveman. Still, Zach kept a nice face about him, and soldiered on as he learned about making fires and shelters and even how to best hunt animals. These would help a lot, so that's all he payed attention to.

Once done, he left with Jordyn back to their apartment and ate whatever he could. Naturally, he took a shower after her, deciding against waiting for the next day and then went to bed just as he always did. Tomorrow would be a better day for training, hopefully.

(OOC - I'll have to post quickly because I have some work to do)

I blinked my eyes open. It was early, too early. I rolled over in bed, enjoying the luxury of the king-sized mattress. I decided to get up and get ready, I wanted to be one of the first down to the training centre. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted a clean district 12 shirt and I slipped it on. I put on a pair of black shorts as well, then went into the bathroom. After doing my morning routine, I did my hair in a french braid.

As I went out the door, I grabbed my pair of black combat boots and attempted to put one on while walking. I hopped my way over to Zach's door and knocked on it. I leaned against the wall next to his door and began lacing my boots up.

*Knock, knock*

Something or someone was tapping on Zachary's door in an attempt to wake up. "Great" he thought, not wanting to get up and start the day just yet, but it couldn't be helped, so he got up with a miniscule grunt and stood up.

He could change fairly quickly, so he decided to do so before he got out, picking up a shirt that he couldn't really see because his vision was blurred for whatever reason, and he didn't bother to wipe his eyes. Next were some jeans, which he pulled up the length of his legs and zipped, buttoned and belted up. Shoes were also part of this exercise, but it didn't really matter to the boy what kind they were, as long as they fit.

Finally finished, he decided to wipe the sleep from his eyes, perk up and open the door robotically. He didn't need to fake the second one when he saw that it wasn't Loganin requesting him, but Jordyn.

"Uh..." *YAWN*"...hello." he spoke, not completely awake just yet.

"Uh..." *YAWN*"...hello." said Zach.

"Did I wake you? Sorry, I want to get to training a little earlier today." I said.

I finished lacing up my boots and stretched.

"You can keep getting ready if you like, I'm going to have some breakfast and I'll wait for you." I stated.

Walking to the dining table, I noticed the plates full of delicious breakfast food. I grabbed some sort of apple pastry and an orange and ate them while I waited for Zach.

"Yeah...okay...I'll...be just a minute..." he trailed off before turning to go to the restroom.

After combing his hair, putting on ant-persperant and washing his face, he was done. Walking over to the dining table, he noticed various breakfast-ey items. Something about a bowl of cereal look deeply appetizing to the guy, so he had some and a glass of milk. He finished real quick and excused himself to he bathroom once more, where he brushed his teeth.

"Well, I'm ready to go when you are." he stated with a fresh mouth as he returned.

"Well, I'm ready to go when you are." said Zach, appearing from behind me.

I nodded my head and got up from my seat at the table. I didn't need to be shown where to go again. We proceeded to the elevator, then down to the training centre. There was only one person there, the dark-haired district 9 boy. He was over at the plant station, which I had visited the previous day. I turned to Zach.

"Which station are you headed to? I'd like to try out some weapons, but it depends." I said to him.

"Which station are you headed to? I'd like to try out some weapons, but it depends."

Zach pondered the idea for a minute before giving a thought out response. "I think I'll continue to work on my swordplay. By the looks of things, I'd wager I should be more combat-reliant, as you seem to be more better suited for survival tactics. However, I may or may not try to learn a few more things to keep me up and running. We'll see." he stated plainly, rubbing his eyes.

"Hi" the other tribute said, extending his arm.

The blonde haired man gave his hand a firm shake and smiled. "Hello, I'm Zach." he introduced, looking over the person's face. This guy didn't seem to hold hidden resentment or other negative emotions towards him, from what he gathered, and so, Zach didn't see the need to completely keep his guard up. That being said, he didn't necessarily drop it.

The district 9 boy came over and said hi. Zach introduced himself, then the boy asked my name. My body fell into the same kind of shock that I always got when trying to speak to someone I didn't know. I tried to imagine the way I spoke to Zach, since I trusted him enough to talk properly to him. But it was hard, since this boy was no Zach. I didn't want to give away that I was a selective mute, so I didn't mention it.

"H-hi. I'm, um, Jordyn." I said with an odd sort of stutter.

"You punched your mentor and your partner hates you?" Zach checked in amusement, giving a slight laugh. "I know this might not be something you want to hear, but you might be screwed." he laughed a bit harder. Not at the boy's possible demise, but at the fact he did such things. "Well, for the trip to the training facilities, I don't mind. However, I'll be busy improving my combat capabilites, so once I get there, I'm afraid we'll have to part ways."

Zach looked over at Jordyn and remembered that she acted this way when they first met. Actually, she spoke completely fine with him, so she must've really trusted him compared to a stranger such as this Desmond character.

Zach stood between Jordyn and Desmond, so as to at least keep her as calm as possible.
