| LOVING | PLAYFUL | CONSIDERATE | BASHFUL | INTELLECTUAL |
As his occupation is being an elementary teacher; it's important for Brian to be understanding and considerate of stress and the needs of others. And he applies such, generally effortlessly. He's also approachable and kind. But knows how to find the balance between serious and polite and business and liberty.

Brian believes in chivlary and being perky and light hearted is the way to live. Life truly is too short for sorrow but often his playful side is more exclusive to his girlfriend.
Though, he likes to get his work and business out of the way first.

While he is the right level of confident he can be self-conscious at the same time. His nerves tend to be at their peak when it's a first encounter with anyone or anything new.

History:
His mother passed on him at the age of 13 due to a car accident where she was admitted to hospital but obviously didn't make it. And his father was never able to quite fill those shoes and bounce back and take care of chores and domestic duties so they experienced a quick downward spiral and all Brian wanted was to move out and start anew the moment it was available. His father was a man that tried however, so Brian kept it as a silent wish and hope as other parental figures offered their help. Teachers.

He decided on teaching as a career at a young age and pursued it until he got the job recently, where he was able to help and educate future generations. An important but often overlooked job. The best perk out of the job though surprised him as he met the photographer, she was starting small but she was full of potential. Of course he had to start seeking reasons to talk to her and see more of her and eventually they started going out.

It's been months with her and he hasn't met her family before. The longer he waits the more daunting it seems though he will never admit it.

It's Christmas time in New York City, and the city is covered in snow, as well as Richmond mansion. The city is still awake at night, even with the snow trucks out clearing the streets, living up to it's city origin, 'the city that never sleeps.' Even with things all hustle and bustle, the Richmond family finds time in all of their equally busy schedules, somewhat, to come together and spend the holidays like they were meant to.

With family.

However, not everyone in this household agrees with the other's doings, and it could be a time of great stress, or a time of great happiness. Only time will tell for this odd family.

All the children are coming to their mother's nest, via car, plane, train, bus, or whatever they can get a ride on. Let us all have a very Merry Christmas!

Ah, yes. How could she forget? It was that time of year again.

The time of year where the trees died, from her mother's off-key voice singing 'Jingle Bells' far too many times. Where children ran inside instead of playing in the freshly fallen snow, because her mother would push them off the sidewalk, her arms littered with brand name shopping bags.

Meghan Richmond awoke in her small, crappy apartment located in San Francisco. The weather here didn't get below freezing, and she had no snow clothes in her wardrobe, compared to the boxes and boxes stuffed to the brim in her childhood years. She sighed as she sat up from bed. "Dear God." She muttered, and flung off the covers, throwing herself in a whirl of panic, grabbing her luggage, and trying to squeeze herself into a pair of black skinny jeans, the same ones she wore last year. Then, her outfit was soon complete after adding a shirt, denim jacket, and neutral colored scarf, which she was surprised that she found in her closet.

She was just about to walk out the door when it hit her. Brian. Brian was coming with her this year. "Shit.." She sighed, and took a deep breath, before getting her phone out, and texting him.

To: Brian
"Hey baby! So, are you ready to go? I'm heading over now. Like, right now."

She grinned as it sent, and locked the door behind her, then threw her rolling luggage into the back of her beetle, and revved the engine.

Thank goodness, his home wasn't too far from hers, but still a drive. She giggled as she pulled up in his driveway, and honked the horn a few times. "Brian! Briaaann!!" She squeaked, and eventually got out of the car, with it still running, and walked a few steps towards his door. "C'mon slowpoke!" She giggled as she saw the handsome man appear, and kissed his cheek once they were both in her car.

"Are you ready for the craziest Christmas of your life?"

He woke to his phone buzzing against his bed side table and grumbled a little in response before grabbing it and checking the text from his girlfriend. He sighed out a little finding it hard to leave his cosy bed but today was a big day and she didn’t live too far so he had to get moving.
Brian got dressed quickly, throwing on layer after laying; a fresh white tank top, a wooly jumper and a thick dark jacket preparing for the cold that New York offered.
When he heard Meghan pull up he had just slid on his grey pants and smiled to himself at her honking a few times.

He had been good to pack the previous day but his hair remained as the famous bed hair as he met her outside. “You’re bossy,” he told her, placing his luggage in the back then climbed in the passenger seat to receive a kiss on the cheek.

Brian sighed out as if releasing the nerves and tension then looked to her. “The craziest Christmas of my life? I’m not sure how I feel about that,”he admitted and laughed nervously and rubbed his hands together. “You have a big family too, right?”

Her husband didn't come home last night. She knew that for much. He wasn't laying beside her in bed. Of course he said he was going to be late at the office. But maybe he was lying to her. Of course she told him that he needed to be at her parents somehow today. But she was going to go. Her parents were okay people. She didn't mind them but they were a bit wacky especially her mother the only living parent at the time.

She got out of bed and changed into her set out outfit. She changed into it and went down her apartment steps and down to her car.

She had actually slept in since she was awake late last night trying to stay up for her husband. She wasn't all to happy about that. She was a tad excited to see her family. She loved them all. Being the oldest she was used to being so filled with all those people. It just hurt being in that area.

She drove down the streets known to leading to her house. She parked a little bit of a mile from the house and grabbed out her laptop that had her latest book that she was writing. She turned it on and began to type a bit. She didn't want to go in just yet.

Image
Image

She was so excited. Her entire family was going to be coming home!!! It was so exciting she had told the office she would only work on small odds and ends at home but not come to the office. She had seen them at Thanksgiving but so much could happen since then.

She woke up jumped out of bed practically and put on her outfit she had all set out and ready. She changed into it and ran down the steps. She hadn't decorated much of the house. She wanted to do that with the family.

She only had her office at her company dressed up in Christmas stuff. She was so excited after dinner she planned to make everyone all go together to the tree lot and buy a Christmas tree. She was so excited because she planned to make this the Christmas never to forget.

She felt she lost a bond when their father died. He always seemed to be closer then she ever was to the kids. But she planned on changing that especially for the guy she was seeing whom she invited to spend Christmas with. She went to the kitchen and tied an apron around her waist.

She then decided she would start by making a black forest cake. She made it and put it wrapped with plastic wrap.

She decided to spoof the place up by cleaning a bit. Although the house was perfectly clean she wanted to make sure it was perfect for the kids. She was really excited and couldn't wait for the kids to come home with their friends or family.

She made sure their bedrooms were all set up for them. And she had all the guest rooms cleaned up for the people who were coming with them. She couldn't wait.

Meghan couldn't believe she hadn't left yesterday. They lived in San Francisco. Her childhood in New York. Express Air Travel it was.

"I'm bossy?" She shook her head as she drove towards the airport. "Yes, I have an.. Unusual as well as bigger family." She smiled towards him without taking her eyes off the road.

Soon enough, they both were on the plane which was about to take off. They'd both be in New York soon. Meghan wondered if she should let her sister know they were in fact on their way. She pulled out her phone.

To: Allina
"Hey Sweets! I'm on the way over to Mom's, since I'm loterally across the country from our old house. ;) "

After everything settled on the plane, as they had a little rocky takeoff, Meghan looked to her seemingly nervous boyfriend of almost a year, in 2 months. "Are you holding up okay, girly?" She smiled, leaning her head on his shoulder, and their hands intertwined. "I wonder what the kids think about Mr. Archer being so nervous?" Meghan chuckled, sighing as she closed her eyes.

{I know I'm posting twice, but they had to get them at least on the plane, since they're across the country.}

Meghan sighed as the got off the airplane. She squeezed his hand tightly as they walked through the very busy airport, she guessed it was because of the holidays. Yawning tiredly as they hopped in ataxi, since she'd forgotten a rental car, she rested her head on Brian's shoulder snuggly, and almost fell asleep if it wasn't for Brian's constant nudging at her.

"Now.." Meghan began as the taxi let them off at the gates of the mansion. "I'm the youngest, as you know. Two sisters, two brothers, and Moms a pyscopath. I do think anyone knows you're coming either. Welcome to the family, baby." She smiled and went to the call in. "Mom? It's Meg, let me in!"

Meg held Brian's tightly gripped hand as they walked in, the gates opening. "And so it begins." She sighed.Meg frowned deeply that yet she moved across the country to get away from her mother, she was always the first at gatherings. She made a mental note that when she had kids she was going to be the last.

Annie was so busy with baking and cleaning she didn't hear the gates of the mansion opening. She looked through the window to see her youngest daughter Meghan and some new boy she didn't know. She clapped her hands together in happiness. A new boy to intterogate of who was doting on her baby girl.

She was so happy but she didn't want to seem a bit odd. She waited near the door for the doorbell to be rung. When it did she opened it and smiled at her daughter and the boy. "You are always the first. Hello baby." She said giving a big hug to her daughter smiling at how the family was going to be together again.

"So who is this young lad? He is good looking." She opened the door further for them to walk in. "Ah whoever you are if you are treating my daughter right i am happy." She gave a hug to the boy and smiled at them both. "We just have to wait for the others. And then we can get to work on some fun."

Meghan smiled at her mother forcefully as she was pulled into an unwanted hug, which Brian also received. She giggled at her boyfriend being so timid, squeezing his hand, and rubbing his back as her mother moved an she went in first. As they walked down the hall, she set her luggage down for a brief moment, and turned towards her mother, then Brian. "C'mon baby, I'll take you to your room." She smiled genuinely, and picked her luggage up with her left hand, gesturing for him to come upstairs with her right.

When she got to her old room, it was decorated as she'd left it, in her 'mystical' phase, with purples, blues, and greens all over the room. There were white Christmas lights lining her ceiling, and could be set to a flicker setting. She set her bag in her closet, his next to hers. "C'mere.." She grabbed her phone. "Sit for minute." She read her sibling's messages.

To: Allina
"Hurry up and get over here! I need you to see something!"

To: Matty Bear
"Hurry up, you slow person! Mom's going haywire, I swear I smell fruit cake.."

She let out a sigh as she slipped her phone back in her pocket, and smiled up at her Brian as she laid on her back. "Just think.. After this year, it'll be easier for you." She frowned. "I'm gonna say that we stay together for at least another year. Bet on it?" She chuckled, and playfully punched his arm. "I'm teasing, don take it so hard." Meghan stole a kiss, before yawning and standing up. "I better go help Mom. Before she thinks we're giving her grandkids." Meghan laughed sarcastically, and started towards the kitchen downstairs.

"You need help with anything, elder?" Her sarcasm was strong in her voice, and she leaned against the doorway.

"Oh, honey you don't need to help. You are here visiting. Visitors don't need to help. So, how did you meet the cute boyfriend?"
Meghan heard so many things wrong with that sentence. "First of all, I am not a visitor. This used to be my house, ya know. Secondly, that's like the oldest Mom trap in the book." She smirked, and then surveyed her mother's old hands on her shoulders, and slowly removed them before chuckling. "Wouldn't you like to know." She mumbled, before sighing.

"He's an elementary school teacher. Mr. Archer. I'm the photographer that takes his kiddos pictures." She said matter-of-factly. Straightening herself as she stood, her fingers traced the hem of her shirt.

"Where are my siblings?" She wondered towards her mother, cocking her head to the side. "You did invite them, didn't you? I didn't think I was that unusually early." She trailed off.

Annie looked at her daughter. She loved her, but she could be a little stuck up to certain things. "I know baby but its just. I want you to be treated without work to do. Well haven't you known. Your mom is old baby girl." She said with a smile towards her daughter.

She listened as her daughter spoke about her boyfriend making her think of her own she had invited to stay with them for Christmas. She wondered where he was to be honest.

"Maybe they chickened out? And I always invite you all. No your not early. And he sounds amazing keep him. He is a gentleman from what I seen and he works with kids it means he may want kids." She said giving her daughter a smile.

Beth looked at her finished work. She had done it she had completed another chapter of her book. She was parked for and noticed already a car at the house from her binoculors. She didn't know if she wanted really to go there if there was only one person. Maybe she would wait for more people to come and sneak in with them.

She didn't really enjoy her mother's hounding questions. Of her husband or where soem grandkids were. They were annoying and she was so sick and annoyed of her mother for them. So she planned to write some more and wait for someone else to come before she went.

Matty pulled up and parked at the house. He looked at the gate and sighed, flooded with fond memories of his childhood. Shaking his head and smiling, he finished his food and energy drink from the gas station. Remembering his phone had received a message a while ago, he picked up the phone and thumbed through his messages. Besides the normal greetings from different women, his sister had sent him a text.

From: Lil

"Hurry up, you slow person! Mom's going haywire, I swear I smell fruit cake.."

Matty turned around and looked in the backseat. A number of wrapped—poorly wrapped—presents stared back at him. Enough for his family plus some additional ones in case others came. Shrugging and deciding to bring them in later, he stepped out the car and pulled a couple bags from the trunk. After hearing the satisfying thunk of his trunk closing, he strolled to the gate, pushing the call button.

“Hey guys! Come on it’s freezing out here!”

That was no lie. He instinctively pulled his coat around him tighter as the air whisked by. When the door opened he smiled with relief at the warm air.

Matty smiled at the warm hug hi mom gave him. He’d missed her a lot and the hug was a welcome change to the cold. He closed the door behind him, smiling as he looked around the house. Everything was just the same, even the smells reminded him of long ago. Matty turned to his mom, smiling.

”Ah it feels nice in here. So, where’s everyone else? I’m sure Lil’s here at least.”

Matty walked further in the house and noticed someone he hadn’t seen before, along with his sister, Allina. The other person was an older gentleman. Surely Allie hadn’t decided to go with an older guy
right?

”Hey Allie...how ya been? I hope everything’s been as good as you look!”

Matty flashed her a smile and hugged her. He turned, looking at the other man. There’s no way Allie brought him, but if she hadn’t
then who was he? Matty extended a hand to the man, making sure he was polite.

”Hey I’m Matthew. It’s nice to meet you Mr.
?”

Matthew trailed off hoping someone would fill in the rest.

Mom’s new friend huh? The statement made Matty laugh out loud. It sounded like he’d been afraid to call himself what he really was. So his mom had gotten a new boyfriend. This was hardly news to him, he knew she would get someone else sooner or later. After the death of their loved ones, people did tend to get pretty lonely. Besides, his mom had been used to someone always around. The sudden independence probably didn’t sit well. Though this was a bit earlier than he’d expected, Matt accepted it, though he’d have to have a word with his mom later. Chuckling slightly, Matt shook his head.

”You Didn’t have to water it down for me, Adam. I know full well what friend means.”

Whit the way Adam presented himself Matty guessed this wasn’t his first time having to say that. Now it made total sense that his sister wasn’t anywhere to be seen. It was likely she didn’t take this too well. He completely understood why. Matty looked at the doorway and he saw his brother step in.

”Hey bro! How ya been?”

Matty walked over to his brother and brought him in for a hug. Suddenly feeling the weight of his bag, Matty decided to excuse himself to put up his thing and go find his sister.

”Well, these bags are kinda heavy, so I’ll be heading up to my room now.”

As he walked out he kissed his sister and mom on the cheek and ran upstairs, dropping his things in his room. Without thinking, he knew where Lil had gone, his father’s old room. He walked until he got to the room door, knocked gently, and went in. Upon seeing his sisters he smiled widely, then he noticed Lil was crying. He sighed walking over. He placed his hand on her head and rubbed her hair gently.

”Aw come on Lil. I just got here and you’re already upset.”

Matthew hated seeing Meghan cry. It wrung his heart every time. He smiled gently and hugged her balled up body. He’d do anything to make her stop her tears.

To say she was upset.. that was much of an understatement.

"You're really shaken up about this. Things will be okay she isn't replacing dad she just wants someone to be with. She's a people person Meghan. None of us are here only on holidays. Give her some slack."

First, it was Beth. Geez, so annoyingly a Momma's girl, Meghan had to fight the urge to just punch her right there. Then, Matthew. Oh, sweet, charming big brother rubbing her arm.

”Aw come on Lil. I just got here and you’re already upset.”

Lastly, Allina. Big sister having to see what was going on too.

"Meg, sweetie? It's Allie. Can we come in to talk to you?"

" Guys, I love you all, but we seriously do not know the term 'personal space' at all. Maybe I'm the only one here sane. We'll never freaking know, because you know, I'll be the next one to be freaking replaced." She snapped, and stood up, after hugging Matthew for a minute. "She acts like the man that made all of us possible has never existed in her life! I'm sorry if I'm blowing this up, not really, but at least I know my hospitality. Maybe it's just me.. Mom never seemed to.. take to me like she did you guys, yet I'm the only one with a normal boyfriend, and thinking about a family, and marriage, and have a job, and... " She started harshly rambling to herself, and was regretting every second.

Where was Brian? She needed him.

"I'm so sorry.." She finally broke again, and just sat back on her father's chair, looking at the fabric, becoming tear-stained. "I miss Daddy so much." She whimpered.

Beth looked at Meg. She seemed a bit ticked off but everything was quite hard on the family right now. Since they just lost their father they were in some quite pronlems. She wasn't close with any of her family. Mom nor Dad. She wanted her own but her husband was no where close ready and she was losing her chance every day.

She had an eating feeling that he was cheating on her with his sexy secratary. I looked at Meg as she spoke to the others and me all around the room. "Come on Meg, we all miss dad. Okay. And normal I wouldn't know about." She muttered under her breath the last part.

Annie watched as everyone was busy with their own thing. She felt an aching pain. Her kids hated her and she needed comfering but she couldn't until she spoke with the kids she looked up at Adam. "We will go get a tree i guess soon so thanks for being here Adam I am going to speak to the kids."

She gave Adam a kiss and walked to where most of the kids were. As she listened to the last part of her speech she walked into the room crossing her arms across her chest. Looking at her kids she smiled then looked at Meg.

"I love you all a lot. And I am not replacing your father Meghan. I loved that man so very much but he's gone. I miss him but Adam has been there for me. We grew more then friends. I just want you to know that this kind of needs to stop. You may like Adam if you give him a chance. Please try for me. It is Christmas afterall."

She didn't appricaite this all drama. She walked to the doorway and sticked her head out. "I found her Brian, come on in comfort your girl." She said smiling at her family. "Ian you might as well get in here with your other siblings as well come on."

Yelling in the hallway now it sure was the family back together.
