New York was a big enough city, and the world was a big enough place. That you would think the son of satan and the daughter of God would never once cross paths. Amariah was sure that was exactly what her father had thought. Fate had different ideas however.

The first time she had encountered Casper, it wasn't hate at first sight. She couldn't even bring herself to hate him as much as she knew she should. From that point on, it was a down word spiral. Light fell for dark.

Amariah stood at the window of the apartment she now shared with the son of her fathers greatest enemy. She watched the sky light up with what the humans would assume were shooting stars. She knew it was angels being cast from heaven. Wondered if she too would be cast from her home. God may have mercy for the humans, but there was no mercy for his angels. What more was she than a weapon he pulled out when the war got too hard?

With a heavy heart, she turned from the window, giving Casper a small smile as she sat down beside him. "Do you ever think I'm going to be next?" She breathed, looking the man she had come to love and care for in the eyes. "That he's going to banish me from heaven." Maybe she would get special treatment and be welcomed back home. Maybe she didn't want to go home. Heaven had only been a place of suffering for her. Ironic when you really think about it.

New York. Earth. A place he never, not in his wildest dreams, be living. Especially not with the daughter of God the man that tossed both his parents from the sky. For what? For loving him too much? Still, it was a beautiful city and she... was a beautiful girl. Angelic even. Which made sense, but the most he looked at her, the more he believed that there really was something to this genetic stuff. Where he was shadow, dark hair, dark eyes, dark skin, she was light. Golden hair, sparkling eyes, and skin pale as snow. They were opposites and yet, here they were together.

The moment he met Amari, something... moved deep within him. Something uncurled. Something... cracked. And not... not entirely in a bad way. Now she stood at the window, gazing out into the city below. Or so he thought. When she turned back to him there was a worry in his eyes. One that made her brows scrunch together in concern. She had been gazing at the sky, he realized as she came to sit beside him. At the falling angels being cast from heaven by the man who created him. By the man who should love them.

He swirled the drink in his hand, ice clinking together like ancient chimes. He brought it to his lips, paused, and lowered it with a sigh. He leaned forward placing the glass on the table before them, careful to place the coaster beneath it. "I don't know, Amari." He said, putting one arm behind her and curling the other into a tight fist. He hoped she wouldn't notice it. Wouldn't notice how quickly and how hot his anger burned within him. He would never harm her, of course, but the last thing he wanted was to scare her. "He cast out my father. His friend. For the crime of loving him too much." He realized he was being pessimistic and probably unhelpful so he paused, thought, and continued. "But I somehow doubt he'll cast you away. You're his daughter afterall." His father would never send him from hell. Not unless he'd do something really really bad. And probably stupid as well. Not because he loved him so much, but because as long as Casper had a use, as long as Casper had power, he was a weapon to be used against the enemy.

Amariah's blue eyes drifted from Caspers face and landed back on the window, on the lights coming down from the sky. Maybe once she was his daughter. His baby girl. After the death of her mother, she just became a painful reminder of what he had lost.

She knew all too well the fate of angels cast out of heaven. Casper's father would pick and choose who he wanted and the rest would truly be cast away. Most died.

Turning back to look at Casper, her normally bright and smiling face was rather solemn, sad even. God was so passionate about this war about winning it and so spiteful towards her for simply looking like her mother. If he found out, she doubted she would be saved from his wrath. Amariah even came to the chilling thought that he would kill her himself.

Eventually, she lifted her hand placing it to Caspers cheek, smiling softly at him before dropping the hand once more. "If he did...I would still be one of the lucky ones. Your father would choose to keep me." She knew that for a fact, being the only one of her kind. Being half a divine entity. It was a rarity, one not many would pass up. At the same time that fact could be her only saving grace. Her father might keep her around just so Lucifer couldn't get his hands on her.

"I'm barely his daughter. I'm just the most powerful piece on his chess board." Amariah sighed, head coming to rest on Caspers shoulders, her eyes glazed over with the threat of her eyes starting to water. "He hasn't cared about me as a daughter since my mother died. I'm just that thorn in his side reminding him of what he lost."

Casper clenched and relaxed his fist, attempting to work out some of the anger boiling in him. His other hand traced lazy circles on Amari's back in attempts to be comforting. He doubted it was doing anything for her really, but it was worth it to try. He wasn't really good at any of this stuff. Comforting... trying to cheer her up... He wasn't much fond of people, but... she didn't mind his quirks... and he cared enough for her to try.

At the mention of his father, his gaze darkened. "Amari, you don't want that." He said darkly. "My father... is a much different man from when I was a child; just like yours. He finds uses for people; just like yours. I'm afraid you would be trading one cage for another." He thought a moment. "I can think of one use he might have for you and I'm not even sure what to think of it." He didn't want to share it though. Not in the context in which his father would use it. He worked through the thought until he found a... less traumatizing way to say it. "He may see us married. The heir of heaven and heir of hell. However... you would probably have no power and... your use would be in creating and raising heirs." For his father's opinion on women had changed as well. They were weak. Too weak to be soldiers. So they were to be breeders. No better than livestock some days... His fist clenched, so tightly his hand was shaking.

So he changed the subject. "Do you look like your mother?" He asked, running his finger through the soft strands of gold. "That might very well be your saving grace, Amari. Who could kill the woman he loved a second time? He wouldn't see you dead. It would hurt him more to lose your mother a second time." He paused. "Not that I'm saying you are your mother. I'm just saying that to your father, you're close enough. He doesn't want to see you because you're a reminder, but it'll hurt him just as much, if not more so, to lose you, too."
