- - - - -That was when he heard the blue-haired girl calling his name. He stopped in his tracks, rubbing the back of his neck and spinning on his heels. Yes?" he asked. Then she touched his wrist to pull him back. He raised an eyebrow, confused. He wasn't opposed to being touched or anything, but it wasn't exactly a common occurance. Plus, the two had just met. Wasn't it weird in some way? Just as quickly as she grabbed his wrist, she dropped it and Chimera let it fall to his side. He shrugged his shoulders at he comment. "Kay," he said, masking his own relief.

          - - - - -Gods, that was a close one. That could have been twice as awkward, especially once the two of them were forced to return to the compound for work or whatever. He opened the door and gestured for her to go in. "After you," he suggested. Then her excitement flared and she took his wrist once more, pulling him into the cafe and toward the counter. Jeez, he didn't know demigods were strong. He assumed that some of them were, but this girl's mom made rainbows for a living.

          - - - - -"Ashley! That's it! Sorry about that. I'm usually better about this kind of stuff," he lied. He'd never been good with names. He never forgets a face, but he can't place them. He's just got so many names - so many words - bouncing around his mind all the time. "Me? Oh, anything's cool I guess. I usually go by Kai though," he replied.

Hydra sort of chuckles at Rose's comment about Hades and Zeus. Yeah, Zeus does give that guy a lot of shit, really. So much shit, in fact, that Hydra feels kinda bad for ol' Hades. After all, Hades hasn't really done anything bad to him. He also somewhat tried to prevent the extinction of his race. All in all, Hades was a pretty cool guy, and that was coming from the coolest guy around. Zeus, however, was a total ass.

Hydra then smiled as Rose talked about how she could take on the dwellers in Lerna herself with her sword, but having him would be nice. As confident as ever, Rose was. He really liked that about her. Confidence was cool, he couldn't lie. Also, Hydra hadn't really seen Rose's work with a sword. This might actually be kind of interesting.

"Well, I don't doubt that you can kick ass, but the creatures there are usually one hundred times bigger than you. Sometimes, even bigger than me," Hydra warned. "But hey, who knows, maybe you can actually work miracles with Stormshaker... Stormbreaker... thing..." Hydra cleared his throat, knowing he got the name wrong and trying to cover up for it. "So, um, yeah, lets go, slow poke."

Hydra reached down and gently grabbed Rose's hand, pulling her up before immediately letting go because holding a girl's hand wasn't cool, it was sissy-like. He then started to leave the cafeteria, trusting that Rose was behind him because looking back? Also not cool. He had a reputation to keep, and he wasn't about to give it up for some crush or whatever it was.

        [ location : compound ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -The one thing that really, really sucked about being a demigod was the stupid family drama. Her uncles were constantly fighting, Zeus typically treating Hades like complete and utter shit. Then, there was her father. Poseidon rarely spoke to her. Ever. In all her twenty-four years, he had spoken maybe three sentences to her and given her only her armor and sword. Well, and an obnoxious trident that she never used. Gods, those things were fucking annoying.

          - - - - -Rose raised an eyebrow at her friend and that smile on his face. Then it occurred to her that he hadn't really seen her fight. He's never had to. The demigod has spent the majority of her adult life hanging out and training in this compound. She was, apparently, a valuable asset, being the daughter of Poseidon, so she was only authorized to take certain missions. Unfortunately for her, that meant being trapped in a giant metal building for weeks on end.

          - - - - -Rose laughed slightly. "Aw, are you worried about me, Hydra?" she teased with a casual smirk. Don't get her wrong, she knew he was right, but she wasn't going to tell him that. Then he elaborated and the demigod rolled her eyes at the fact that he couldn't remember the name of her blade. Oh well. It didn't matter too much to her. At least he got the first part right. "Stormweaver," she corrected with a chuckle.

          - - - - -He tugged on her hand, pulling her up, and she tightened her grip on his, only to have him pull away as soon as she was on her feet. So much for anything cute, she thought nonchalantly. "Excuse me for not being able to keep up with a snake," she said laughing, following him out of the cafeteria. In a quick moment, she ran into the armory, taking Stormweaver from the wall and attaching the sheath to her hip. Just as quickly, she met with Hydra again. "So, next stop: Hermes?"

Hydra flushed when Rose, sarcastically, asked if he was worried about her. Well, yeah... No. No. He wasn't... Yeah, he was. This was a time in which he had to put being cool second because Rose's safety was way more important than keeping up appearances. He meant what he said about Lerna being dangerous. I mean, he, a giant, seven-headed snake creature came from there, and like he said, there were things bigger than him. There were also more dangerous things than him. On numerous occasions he had spotted Medusa and had to avert his eyes. He never had any clue what she was doing around Lerna, but sometimes she was just... there.

Hydra snapped out of his thought when Rose corrected him on the name of her sword. Well, at least he was close.
"Riiight, Stormweaver," he repeated, not really understanding why gods and demigods liked to name their weapons. They were just weapons. It's not like they birthed them or anything, but whatever.

Rose walked with him down the hall before going and grabbing her sword, asking if Hermes was their next stop.
"To Hermes," he confirmed, having mixed feelings about visiting the messenger god. It wasn't like he was particularly annoying or anything, he just was... so not cool. Which was unfortunate, because much like Alepou, Hydra liked the guy. It was just not cool to really show that like for him since, you know, he was kinda lame.

It didn't take them long to get to the mail room where Hermes dwelled, organizing the mail as always, not even noticing that they were there.
"Hey, Hermes," Hydra called out, waving a hand in front of the mail god to get his attention. He blinked once before looking up, appearing to be a bit agitated.

"Oh, hello Hydra. Rose," Hermes greeted them politely before looking back down at the mail on the table. "Uh, what can I do for you two today? I'm pretty busy, as usual. Also doesn't help when that Ares comes around... Bastard thinking he's all that..." Hermes started to mumble. Alright, okay, he hates Ares. Noted. Hyrda wasn't really a fan either.

"Uh, heh, um, we'd like to go to Lerna," Hydra explained, feeling a bit awkward and totally ignoring Hermes little breakdown.

Hermes slowly looked up from the mail again, looking at Hydra before glancing at Rose. Hyrda could tell just from looking at the guy that he had concerns about the daughter of Posideon going to a place like Lerna, but he didn't say anything aloud, thank the gods. "Alright, if you're prepared. It's always nice to feel useful, after all. No one really seems to understand the art that is mail."

Hydra let out an awkward little laugh. Yeah, Hermes totally wasn't cool. "Alright man, that's cool. Lets do this," he urged the other man. Hermes seemed a bit offended, but shrugged it off, sighing, and snapping his fingers. After that action was done, a wispy, light purple mass appeared that Hydra knew was Hermes's portal. "Alright, here we go," Hydra said confidently, glancing back at Rose to see if she looked just as ready as him before taking her hand again and stepping through the portal.

His body jolted forward as he closed his eyes, and he felt light headed for a second before hearing the quiet, eerie sounds of Lake Lerna. He opened his eyes and blinked a few times, adjusting to the darker setting. Everything looked the same as it was last time he visited. The distant mountains, the dry land with a few trees poking out here and there, and then the large, almost black looking lake in front of them. He glanced to the right to see the large cave that was the entrance to the Underworld and sighed. Home sweet home?

"So, uh, whaddya think?"

        [ location : lerna ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra; hermes ]

          - - - - -Rose noted how Hydra's cheeks flushed at the comment about worry. It wouldn't surprise her if he was worried about her. Hydra was the type to pretend to be cool, but he secretly cared about people. It just took a lot to figure all of that out. She shook her head quickly, as if shaking the very thoughts from her head, and followed behind, rolling her eyes as he repeated the corrected name of her sword. Monsters were weird. Then again, demigods were pretty unusual too, so she didn't have much room to talk.

          - - - - -The two walked into the mailroom, and Rose clinched her teeth for a moment. Technically, Hermes was her cousin and she liked him well enough, but he was all too passionate about his work. Not that there was a problem with that, it just made him eerily intense when interrupted. Oh well. What could she do? She offered her cousin a small smile as he looked up. He was busy, or so he said, but he seemed much more irritated with Ares.

          - - - - -Ares, the god of War, was also Rose's cousin. Gods, she hated these divine genetics and all the issues. Her cousins and uncles were literally always trying to kill each other. Like with swords and shit. Ares was the world's worst. He had Zeus's temper and none of his leadership abilities or restraint. In fact, all Ares cared about was causing trouble and bloodshed. "I know what you mean. He can be a real pain in the ass," she said.

          - - - - -Then he agreed to allow them to go to Lerna and started talking again. Something about feeling under appreciated? Something about the art of mail? She knew how to play to this. "Seriously though. Like, no one gets how important mail is. Without it, we don't know half of what's going on in the world," she commented with a grin, though Hydra seemed to think it wasn't cool enough. Understandable. Rose didn't quite understand Hermes's passion, but she liked to try and make him feel good.

          - - - - -She nodded off to Hermes as he allowed them passage to the portal. Hydra glanced back at her, taking her hand. Rose quickly grabbed his hand, bracing herself. She honestly couldn't remember the last time she used a portal, but she knew it usually left her a bit dizzy. Her mortal half wasn't made to travel like that. She closed her eyes tightly as her body rushed forward, soon exposing her to the marshy feel of Lake Lerna, Hydra's home.

          - - - - -Her eyes jolted open revealing the dark grayness of Lerna. She focused primarily on the blackness of the lake. Water was her best friend, always. There was a cave, however, off to the side that she couldn't help but notice. The entrance to the Underworld. She wondered silently if her uncle was home, but assumed he was off bickering with Zeus somewhere. "It's nice and dark," she said with a shrug. "Is the water safe to swim in?"

The brief silence after Hydra's question seemed more like an eternity to him, but Rose finally responded, saying it's "nice and dark." Nice and dark? Nice? Well, it wasn't a bad reaction, and frankly, he didn't really know many reactions you could have to Lerna except maybe ew. Ew was a good description. Then again, it was home.

Rose then asked if the water was safe to swim in. Hydra's lips twitched upwards. No, no, he couldn't laugh. It's a legitimate question, but come on, Lake Lerna, the lake home to many species of monsters, including himself, safe to swim in? Hell no. Literally.
"If by safe you mean totally dangerous and deadly, then yes," he replied, joking, but completely series all the while. "If you really wanted to swim in it though, I guess it would be alright with me in my actual form." he considered. He dealt with the monsters in Lerna all the time, so she would more than likely be alright if he was in a better form to protect her from such things. Plus her sword would probably help out to if something were to happen. "Most creatures stay away from me when I'm, you know, huge with seven heads."

Hydra then turned back around to face the lake's dark waters. All this talk about swimming really made him want to do just that and stretch his... well, seven necks. "Hey, uh, is it alright if I go ahead and transform now?" he asked, feeling nervous and awkward as well. "And if so, well, eh, you'll have to turn around since I'll be, um... stripping," he further explained, looking away from Rose so he could hide his blush. He'd be stripping with Rose right there... Gods, that would make any guy nervous, right? Not just him. And it wasn't like she'd be watching, or that he'd be doing it to be sexy. He'd be doing it to transform into a terrifying monster of doom.

        [ location : compound ] [ age : it's complicated ] [ role : guard of the underworld ] [ tagged : hades ]

          - - - - -Cerberus was more than happy to get the hell away from Zeus and his bigotry. Well, that among other things. Frankly, the creature didn't enjoy being in the compound as much as many of the other monsters did. Sure, he loved being able to talk, and those thumb things are pretty fucking fabulous, but he'd rather be a three-headed dog (tri-polar, if you will) with giant teeth and having gained the fear of half of the world. He was all too excited to get the fuck out of the compound and back to the underworld that he called home. His master was happy there, and Persephone might have a treat for him.

          - - - - -Cerberus had a wonderful fondness of the goddess. She was Hades' wife, which already meant that she had to be great, but she was also incredibly kind to him. She gave him lots of treats and scratched his tummy from time to time. She was one of the greatest people in the entire world, as far as the monster was concerned. She never missed feeding times either, which was awesome. Hades didn't either, but that's beside the point. His master was already the greatest master he could ask for, so whatever. He should get the two of them another present some time. Persephone loved the goat's leg he brought her last time.

          - - - - -Speaking of his master, Cerberus was walking with Hades, glancing over to the god several times. "Daaaaaaad," he called, his dark eyes widening in excitement as he flashed a childish smile to the god. "Are we going home yeeettt?"

        ✮ -- ( ICARUS ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty-six ] [ role : most epic of failures ] [ tagged : hermes ]

          - - - - -Icarus wanted nothing more than to get back to his workshop, but that wasn't an option for him. Unfortunately, the Greek icon was short on supplies. He needed a new blowtorch, more nails, duct tape, and twelve pounds of uranium. What for? Don't ask. He had a few theories of how to accomplish the perfect slice of Hawaiian Bread, but only now did he think he was truly onto something. Oh, how the others would be pleased at this new creation of his. It wasn't enough to make up for his little blunder thousands of years ago, but it was a step in the right direction.

          - - - - -In order to Icarus to get the supplies in question, he had to make sure his package had arrived in the mailroom. Oh joy, the mailroom. He didn't mind Hermes, who ran the place, but he just didn't like the way things worked there. He had so many ideas to make it more efficient, but Hermes was always just so busy, so stressed out, that there was no way in hell Icarus was breaking that concentration. He understood what it meant to be on a roll like that. Being interrupted was a death sentence for inspiration, though he was starting to think that Hermes was just a little wacky.

          - - - - -The man walked into the mailroom, taking off his work gloves and slipping them into his pocket as he walked on. "Hermes, did I get anything today? I'm waiting on a shipment of Uranium and it is of the utmost importance," he declared, running a hand through his dark curls as he approached the messenger god.

        [ location : lerna ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -Okay, so maybe it wasn't as nice as she'd made it out to be in the beginning, but it really wasn't that bad. Was it? She didn't know what to make of it, honestly. It was just so dreary, so unlike the constant sunshine of California, but it did have a certain homey appeal to it. At least to Rose, since I reminded her of growing up in Seattle. That was not a pleasant time for the demigod, but Hydra lived here, so how bad could it truly be? This is what she had to keep reminding herself of as she glanced around, getting a true feel of the grey, swampy, hellhole of a place. So, she was lying. It was pretty bad.

          - - - - -But Hydra didn't need to know that. His ego was so easily bruised as it was - it was the reason he hid the fact that he and Rose were best friends; it was the reason he pretended not to care about most things; it was the reason he often ignored little Al and Hermes back at the compound. As much as Rose adored Hydra and enjoyed his company, his constant attempt to be 'cool' was one of the most annoying things in the entire world. Still, she managed to find it a bit endearing from time to time. Maybe she was the one who was fucked up.

          - - - - -Rose raised an eyebrow as his lips curved upward slightly. He was stifling a laugh, wasn't he. Rose lightly punched him in the gut. "I meant is the water toxic, dumbass," she said with a laugh. She knew Hydra was referring to the creatures and the monsters that lurked in Lerna. I mean, he came from there, so Rose knew there were bound to be others. It was the reason she brought her sword. She just had an issue being around water and not being able to get in. It was a weakness of her's.

          - - - - -She tilted her head at his next statement. She'd never seen Hydra in his true form except in paintings and she was curious to see the likeness, if there was such thing. "Sure. Cool. I mean, whatever you think will work," she said with a shrug, as if it weren't a big deal. The truth was, it was a big deal to her. Hydra meant a lot of her in his human form and that wouldn't change, but she needed to know what she was really dealing with when it came to her best friend. She nodded, putting a firm hand on the hilt of her sword.

          - - - - -Then Hydra asked if he could transform and said he would need to strip in order to do so. Rose clinched her teeth slightly. "Right. Forgot about that part..." Her voice trailed off slightly, but she nodded all the same, turning around and staring at the trees. "Go ahead. Let me know when you're ready," she said, her heart beginning to beat slightly faster. This was going to be interesting.

Hydra glanced back over at Rose once she gave him the okay to strip and transform, just to make sure she was looking away. Once that he saw she was, he back to undress, still blushing the whole time. Thankfully, in his hydra form he couldn't blush. Human bodies were so... weird and... expressive, but hey, it was a pretty nice body he had acquired for blending in with the mortal world.

Hydra tossed his clothes into a pile, now standing completely nude. He didn't dare look back at Rose just because of how deep his blush already was. Instead, he slowly stepped into the cold, murky waters of Lerna, only going in knees-deep before letting himself transform.

Contrary to popular belief, it was actually kind of painful to transform back and forth. I mean, after all, he was going from a six-foot-something body to a hundreds, if not thousands feet high body with fucking seven heads. Transformation wasn't a pretty site, and it wasn't necessarily enjoyable. However, it was usually pretty quick, and within a few strains, Hydra was back to being a ginormous, seven-headed monster of the lake. How wonderful. Now came the really tricky part. Telling Rose that she could see him now. Oh Gods, give him strength.

"Um, alright, you can turn around now," he told Rose, using only one of his heads to speak at a time so it wouldn't be as overwhelming. It was kind of weird being able to control so many heads again. Most people seemed to believe that one hydra consisted of many minds, but that wasn't true. A hydra was of one mind and one body. It was just Hydra doing all the work.

Hades was glad to finally be away from is ridiculous, idiotic brother. It was often exhausting to be around such an odious presence such as Zeus. Thankfully, Poseidon did not receive such genes from their father. Zeus was blessed with the looks, he the brains, and Poseidon the patience. Or, at least, that's how it sometimes appeared to be. Lately Poseidon didn't put up with as much as he used to when it came to Zeus. Perhaps Hades received more patience than he had thought.

He was quickly assured of that thought when Cerberus began to speak. A few minutes more of silence and Hades would have had to assume that his guard was dead. Cerberus asked if they were going home yet, clearly growing impatient of the mortal world, as was Hades. He also knew that Cerberus was a pretty large fan of Persephone who awaited their arrival back in the Underworld. Of course, Cerberus's love for Persephone was no surprise. Persephone was loved by all, but, naturally, Hades's love for her was unlike anyone else's. She was his treasured wife, and he too was eager to return to her. However, how Persephone ever dealt with Cerberus in such a calm manner was beyond him. Perhaps she was a true being of patience.

"We're going to Hermes right now, Cerberus," Hades sighed, the mail room appearing in Hades's sights as well Icarus. "On second thought, Cerberus, perhaps we should wait until Hermes isn't as... occupied."

Hermes was back to doing his usual of taking care of all the mail once he had transported Hydra and Rose to their desired location. Awhile had passed and he actually began to believe that he was going to get some godsdamn peace and quiet, but that was until he heard footsteps approaching. Godsdamnit!

When Hermes looked up to see who it was though, he was no longer as irritated. Quite the contrary, he was pleased when he saw none other than Icarus approaching him. A smile overcame his features of irritation, and he readied himself for his usual greeting of his friend, and yes, he actually considers this man to be his friend, Icarus.

Icarus approached his booth, asking if he had received a package, which indeed, he had, but Hermes was too focused on something else at the moment. Slowly, he opened his mouth and began to sing he song dedicated to his friend by a band that lived in the mortal world.
"Icarus is flying to close to the sun
And Icarus's life, it has only just begun
And this is how it feels to take a fall
Icarus is flying towards an early grave!"

Hermes smiled smugly once he had finished the chorus, crossing his arms on the booth as he leaned on it towards Icarus. "How was that fall, Icarus? I mean, obviously you aren't dead. How did you manage that?" Hermes continued to tease, knowing good and well that Icarus was a good sport and didn't take his jokes to heart.

        ✮ -- ( ROSE EASTWOOD ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : lerna ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -Rose grew incredibly bored, staring at the dreary greyness she was forced to face while Hydra undressed. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't curious - not to see him naked, but to see him in his form before had time to groom himself or whatever - but she was respectful. Besides, she had no desire to see him naked at that moment in time. It'd be kinda creepy. She stood there, tapping her fingers against her hip in the rhythm of an old Metallica song for a bit. Rarely did she ever resort to something as boring as that.

          - - - - -She did, however, hear things and she didn't know how to feel about them. At first, the heard the crinkling of fabric, which was to be expected. It was what happened next that made her raise an eyebrow. She heard sloshing of water, which didn't mean much, followed by what sounded like straining. "Are you taking a shit?" she asked, not serious but serious enough. If that makes any sense.

          - - - - -After a few seconds, it was over and Hydra told her it was okay to turn around. Rose was suddenly thankful for her ability to communicate with water creatures. It came in handy, especially in times like this, but she still used them to talk to all of her fish as well. She's weird, okay? The blonde turned around to see a massive - and, seriously, like hella fucking massive - dragon-like snake with seven heads. The paintings did the size of Hydra no justice, nor did it capture the true appearance of her friend.

          - - - - -She took a step backward at first, but quickly corrected herself. "Wow," she muttered, tilting her head to the side, as if sizing him up. She could barely tell it was him - which was to be expected - but one thing never changed: his eyes, still rivaling the ocean in their depth and beauty. It really was him. She found relief in those eyes and it was a visible change in her demeanor. "Sexy," she teased, suddenly feeling comfortable enough to talk to him normally.

          - - - - -She then stripped out of her own clothes - she was wearing her swimsuit underneath and didn't feel the need to hide from Hydra - before walking into the water. Her sword was unsheathed, in her hand as she felt the rush of cold overcome her toes, then up to her knees so that she stood just a few feet from her friend. "Let's go out further. I can breathe underwater, so don't feel the need to stay close to the surface," she said, walking out further into the water.

        ✮ -- ( CERBERUS ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : compound ] [ age : it's complicated ] [ role : guard of the underworld ] [ tagged : hades ]

          - - - - -Hades was a good master. He was a perfect master, as far as Cerberus was concerned, and the closest thing he had to a father. Well, Hades kind of created him - kind of, it's complicated - so he was his father. At least, that's what the dog constantly told people. His dad was the god of the underworld and their's was someone totally fucking lame. Did that make him a demigod? Gods, he sure hoped so. Demigods had all the fun and were totally rad and shit.

          - - - - -Cerberus perked up as soon as Hades decided to speak to him. He was just so fucking great he didn't know what to do. He had to find a way of telling his master that he was great, but how? I wonder how he feels about liver? he thought, tilting his head at the idea. "Hermes? Hermes is cool. Let's go hang out with Hermes,"he said, his voice all too enthusiastic. He gave Hades a grin, but it quickly faded when he completed his statement. "No Hermes? Does that mean no home?"

        ✮ -- ( ICARUS ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty-six ] [ role : most epic of failures ] [ tagged : hermes ]

          - - - - -Icarus rolled his eyes the second Hermes caught sight of him. His friend had a nasty little habit of breaking into song every time he showed up. The engineer wouldn't care if it didn't make a mockery of his death. Or near death. Or whatever. Frankly, he didn't know how he survived. Maybe he didn't. Greeks were weird, so who the fuck even knows? Maybe Poseidon saved him? He didn't want to think about it. He didn't like to think about it, but it was all in good fun. Besides, all he had to do was move a package two inches to get the same effect out of his friend.

          - - - - -"Release me from the present,
          I'm obsessing all these questions,
Why I'm in denial that they tried the suicidal session,
Please use discretion when you're messing with the message, man,
These lyrics aren't for everyone, only few understand."

          - - - - -Two could play at that game, kind of. Not really, but he tried anyway. He flashed a smile to his friend, one that showed he was slightly annoyed, but it quickly recovered. "The fall? Quite pleasant, actually, though the landing was a bit harsh," he quipped. "I guess I'm just tougher than you. How's the mail doing today?" he asked, smirking slightly. "I see you still haven't upgraded your system here," he observed.

        ✮ -- ( JULIET PYKE ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty ] [ role : demigod; aphrodite ] [ tagged : hades; cerberus; icarus; hermes ]

          - - - - -Juliet Pyke wasn't meant for the life of a demigod. Demigods were supposed to be warriors, or so she'd been told, but that just didn't suit her. She absolutely detested fighting and avoided it every chance she got. This line of work was not for her, but she didn't have a choice. They'd promised her protection, something you can't get from the outside world, in exchange for work. Luckily, she was good enough to charm her way into a less violent position, working publicity and covering up the existence of monsters. She was journalist in essence, as well as a secretary. The latter of the two was unfortunate to her, but it gave her something to do, so she only complained about it half of the time.

          - - - - -The daughter of Aphrodite had spent a fair amount of time readying herself at her desk, for no apparent reason. She just liked to make sure that her lipstick was in order before she was seen by the public eye. Her red hair was loosely braided and she wore what she considered to be a professional outfit, as she took time in her appearance. It was important not only for her job, but for her own sanity. Call her vain, but she could not fathom being underdressed. She stood up from her desk, straightening out the bottom of her dress as she felt her heels click against the ground.

          - - - - -She'd just gotten a text from Zeus. Something about getting something from the mailroom? Whatever, she didn't have a choice in the matter. She didn't feel like getting fired for telling the thunder god to do something himself, so she walked in that direction. Just outside of the mailroom, Hades and Cerberus stood. She fluffed Cerberus's curls, for she knew he was still a dog at heart. "Good Afternoon, Hades. Cerberus," she said, giving the guard of the underworld an endearing smile.

          - - - - -Then she strolled into the mailroom, finding Icarus and Hermes in what appeared to be competing in some kind of intense sing off. "I'm sorry, am I interrupting something?" she asked, her light British accent coming out slightly.

Hydra braced himself as Rose turned around and took him in, taking a step back. Oh gods, she's scared. She's scared of him. He should have never done this. This wasn't a cool thing to do! Turning into a seven-headed monster in front of the girl you liked wasn't cool! Rose looked in his eyes though, and her whole demeanor seemed to change. Well... it had to have been shocking at first to see him like this. Not necessarily scary. Then Rose called him sexy, being sarcastic, or course. This form was anything but sexy.

Hydra rolled his eyes, but smiled nonetheless, until Rose started to remove her clothes. Wait, what? Um, no. No, no, no, no, no. What was she-- He then realized that she wore a swimsuit underneath her clothes, and one of his heads sighed in relief as she joined him in the water, sword at the ready.

Rose told him that they could go deeper, explaining that she could breathe under water.
"No way, dipshit," Hydra teased, following Rose deeper into Lerna. "You're only the daughter of the God of the Sea, I didn't think you could do water stuff," he continued to tease, most of his heads diving under the water. "Also, taking a shit? Really? I'll have you know going from completely gorgeous to this monstrosity is a bitch," he had to add before going all the way under water, his eyes able to see clearly in the murky water.

Hades rolled his eyes as Cerberus started to gush at the mere mention of Hermes, calling him "cool" and asking if they weren't going to go home. Honestly, it was hard dealing with someone that looked like they should have human intelligence, but still had the mind of a dog. It just made him seem more ditsy than usual, even though he was, still, just a dog in disguise.

"We're still going home, Cerberus, just not right now. I'd rather not have to socialize with others at the moment," he explained, looking at Icarus before taking Cerberus and hiding behind a wall so he wouldn't be seen. Of course, people approaching the mail room could still see him, and it just so happened that Juliet, the daughter of Aphrodite, was coming their way.

Hades readied himself for socialization, and sure enough, the girl came right up to them, ruffling Cerberus's hair, which Hades raised a brow at, and then greeting them kindly. That was the matter with Juliet, she always spoke so kindly to everyone. It was rather annoying, really, but she didn't have to talk to him at all. No one else really did. They either feared him or thought of him foully. Juliet, however, did not seem to think such things.

The girl continued to make her way to the mailroom where Hermes and Icarus were having some ridiculous battle of song, before interrupting. Hermes, of course, immediately looked embarrassed, blushing like a fool. Honestly, it was so obvious that the man had romantic feelings towards Juliet. However, Juliet didn't seem to know. There were always ways of getting someone to show the obvious more... obviously, and one of those ways, luckily, was anxiety. Something that Hades controlled. Why not have a bit of fun?

Before Hermes received an answer to his little jokes, Icarus began singing a song of his own by yet another band. His song, however, didn't exactly match the tone of mockery, but hey, at least the man tried, right? Then Hermes received his answer, Icarus talking about the fall he had, which he rarely did, finishing off by saying that he must be stronger than him. Hermes chuckled at that, though he did not question it. He was certainly no warrior, after all.

"The mail is fine," Hermes said in response to Icarus's question. "I've been sorting it all day, as usual, and no, no upgrades," he continued, turing around to grab his friend's package. "Nothing is more trustworthy than the hard work of a god anyways, so I don't need an upgrade."

It was then Hermes heard the voice of none other than Juliet, the girl he had an enormous crush on, and a sudden wave of immense anxiety filled his system. More than usual. Suddenly, he lost grip on the package he was holding, and struggled to keep it from hitting the ground for a few moments before mostly regaining his composure.

Hades had to be around here. This wasn't the first time he had pulled something like this, that bastard.

Hermes quickly turned around, which almost made him lose his footing before he slammed Icarus's package on the booth table, his face turning redder than a strawberry.
"Oh, um, hi Juliet. You are, uh, you're not, um, interrupting anything, nope," he babbled like a moron, meeting Juliet's eyes, which only heightened the anxiousness he was feeling. Her eyes were green like a lush forest, while her hair was the most beautiful shade of red. Her beauty was unmatchable, and to make matters worse, what she was wearing was extremely flattering on her, enhancing her perfect beauty. She was truly, the most gorgeous thing Hermes had ever seen, and her kindness was like a breath of fresh, Spring air to him. She was the kindest, most beautiful being in all the realms, and he felt like his heart was about to burst from her presence and the fact that Hades was just a dick.

"Um, how am I? I mean, you. You. How are you?"

        [ location : lerna ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -Rose saw an initial panic in Hydra's eyes and she didn't know how to react. She wasn't afraid of him, of course. She knew him. He was seriously one of the most harmless people in the entire world as far as she was concerned. Frankly, she was more afraid of Hermes, which was saying something. She was surprised, is all, less by his actual appearance and more by his size, but he was still him, so she could relax. Eventually, Hydra's form showed that he felt the same, as if he'd actually calmed down from all of this. It was only awkward if they made it awkward, and she was trying her hardest to avoid that.

          - - - - -She heard a sigh of relief from one of the seven heads after she started stripping, and she looked back to her friend, raising an eyebrow. "You can relax. You're not seeing your first naked girl today," she said with a smirk. He should have guessed that she was clothed - kind of - but she could completely understand his initial panic. Kind of. The whole situation was weird as hell, okay? She was talking to a fucking seven headed snake thing from hell.

          - - - - -She rolled her eyes at the dipshit comment. "I also control tides and can kill you with a stick," she teased - neither of which her true. A really sharp stick maybe, but certainly not while he was outside of his human form. "Don't flatter yourself, blue eyes," she said when he made a comment about how gorgeous he was before shifting into his true form. He was telling the truth, but he couldn't know she felt that way. "So is being friends with a narcissist," she teased.

          - - - - -Then all of his heads went underwater and she followed suit, diving down and squinting until her eyes adjusted to the murky depths. Okay, so they never really adjusted. She couldn't see all that well. In fact, all she could follow was the large mass of reptile that she called a bestie and his bright blue eyes, that were somehow still shiny under the fucking water. Seriously, could he get anymore perfect? "So where do all the cool kids hang out?" She asked with a smirk.

        ✮ -- ( CERBERUS ) ───────────────────────────────

          - - - - -"But I wanna go home nooooooow," he said, his version of a whimper in his human form. He wanted more than anything to chill with Persephone and be a dog again. He missed his teeth. He did so many cool things with those babies. He looked up at Hades and stuck out his lower lip in a pout, but quickly changed his mind when he felt a hand play in his hair. It was the closest thing he could get to a scratch behind the ears up here, so he was happy.

          - - - - -"Hi Juliet," he said with a smile. He still wanted to go home, but he managed to almost completely forget that bit of information while the red-head was around. She was just so nice to people and that was a pleasant change for Cerberus. I mean, Hades was the fucking greatest thing ever, but he was still a jerk to people sometimes. Cerberus loved him, but he could be mean occasionally and Juliet never was. Neither was Persephone. Okay, now he wanted to go back home.

          - - - - -That was when he followed Hades into the mailroom. Were they going to see Hermes? The messenger god was a pretty cool dude but Cerberus liked him the most because he gave him a way to go home. that made him pretty cool. He almost felt bad for him when he started stuttering like an idiot and he felt like his master had something to do with it, but it didn't matter. "Can we go home nooooow?"

        ✮ -- ( ICARUS ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty-six ] [ role : most epic of failures ] [ tagged : hermes; juliet ]

          - - - - -"Sorting's a bitch. That's why I don't do it," said Icarus, giving his friend a lopsided grin. For a renowned inventor, Icarus was one of the most unorganized fucks in the entire world, he was sure he'd set some kind of record after all this time. Hermes, on the other hand, was far too passionate about mail to let anything stand in the way of doing a good job. Why? Icarus had no idea, but he respected the little guy for it. "We have machines for that sort of thing."

          - - - - -"Sure, you're good, but you know what could really help you relax? A conveyor belt system. Maybe a sorting machine? I have so many ideas that could make this whole thing run smoother," he said, but he cut himself off after a bit. Hermes probably didn't want to hear it. Besides, he was occupied by other things. Juliet, the daughter of Aphrodite, had just walked into the room, wearing an adorable green dress and flattering heels. It made the inventor, who was wearing sweat pants and torn flannel, look like a loser.

          - - - - -"Hi Juliet. Nope, not a thing. Hermes here was just sorting," he said, immediately turning the attention over to his friend, who was almost obsessed with the demigod. Poor guy. How the girl had never caught on was amazing, a secret that no one could quite figure out. When Hermes slammed his package on the table, obviously freaking out more than usual - which was saying something. Hades. Icarus couldn't help but laugh a bit. "Thanks. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to build a nuclear powered toaster or something."

        ✮ -- ( JULIET PYKE ) ───────────────────────────────
        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty ] [ role : demigod; aphrodite ] [ tagged : hades; cerberus; icarus; hermes ]

          - - - - -Hades said absolutely nothing as she walked by, which didn't surprise her. The demigod had grown used to Hades being so silent. It was rare that anyone spoke to him that wasn't Cerberus. Or Zeus when he was asking for something dumb. Though, nine times out of ten, if Zeus wanted something dumb done, he'd just ask Juliet, his 'pretty little secretary', as he'd dubbed her. The thought almost made the girl roll her eyes. She walked past the two, giving Cerberus a quick smile as he greeted her.

          - - - - -When she walked in, Hermes lost control of the package he was holding, struggling through the air to catch it. Juliet couldn't help but stifle a small giggle. He was always so nervous, though she never quite understood why. She assumed that dealing with the mail of literally the entire universe was a stressful job, so she usually just attributed his jumpy personality to that. Again, the god almost lost his balance, slamming the package against a table and finally - hopefully - regaining his footing. "Are you alright there?"

          - - - - -He immediately returned to his usual, stuttering self. She'd be lying if she said it wasn't adorable, but she had a hard time understanding it as well. On top of that, she felt bad for him half of the time. The daughter of Aphrodite was rarely ever timid herself, but she'd gotten stage fright once or twice in her life and it was a nightmare. Of course, this was like that on steroids, so she could only pretend to understand. Gods, why was he so jumpy today?

          - - - - -She giggled again when he stumbled over his words once more. How am I? he had asked originally. She tilted her head slightly. "I'm fine. Just on another errand for the big guy," she asked. "He needed me to pick something up. I have no idea what the bloody hell it is, so I was hoping you could help me," he said, offering him a small smile, the nod and tilt of her head indicating that she was using charmspeak in an attempt to calm him down. She didn't know if it would work, for it seemed like someone else was influencing his emotions. "Are you feeling okay? You seem a little jumpy," she commented.

Hydra, much like Rose, rolled his many eyes when she started to say what other powers she has and how he was a narcissist . Oh yeah? Well one bite from him would be enough to kill an elephant. How's that for cool powers? Of course, it was also hella dangerous. If he were to be making out with a girl, for example, one tiny nick would kill her dead. Thank the gods that his mother was immune to hydra venom or else she would have been dead. Not by making out, of course, ew, but you know. Plus, she was already dead. Everyone he used to know was dead. He was the last hydra... but hey, you can't stay mad forever, right? And the narcissist part? Yeah, pretty much.

Hydra and Rose swam awhile, Rose catching up to him and swimming next to him. She asked where all the cool kids hung out, and Hydra had to laugh, which just came out as more of a weird sort of roar, but hey, she probably got the idea.
"Cool kids? Really?" he chuckled. "I'm the only cool kid in this lake. Everyone else just either wants to get away from me or try and kill me. It's a lot of fun," he replied gleefully, his heads all smiling with the same smile. "I guess if you want to see some really interesting stuff, though, the very bottom is perfect for that. Of course, it's also pretty dangerous, and, well, ya know, dark as hell."

To be honest, Hydra was really nervous about letting Rose swim to the depths of the lake. There were many things that could jump out and attack them, but Hydra was huge, so he could take them, but Rose was... small. However, he didn't say this because he knew Rose could handle herself and would probably feel insulted if he said such things, so he just kept them to himself.

Icarus took his package, announcing that he was going to leave and build a nuclear toaster. No! Godsdamnit, get back here! he screamed at his friend in his head. He was already a mess and he knew he'd only get worse with Icarus gone, but he was too embarrassed to actually call out for his friend. Wherever Hades was, Hermes was going to find him and kill him. If only that was possible...

Juliet explained what she was doing in the mailroom, saying that the big guy, who had to be Zeus, sent her here for something. Right, there was a package that came in for Zeus today. Juliet then smiled and nodded, Hermes suddenly feeling just a tiny bit more at ease. Right, charmspeak. It still wasn't strong enough though, especially when up against godsdamn Hades.

"Well, uh, um, yes, I can help you with the thing,"
began Hermes, running a hand through his hair and pushing his glasses further up his nose. "And, uh, yes, I'm fine. You look nice today, by the way." Curse you, Hades! Gods, he would have never said that! He was staring to want to spew everything out, but instead, he quickly turned around, face red as he searched for Zeus's package.

He found the package with ease, only tripping over his feet once before returning to Juliet, not looking at her. "Here ya, uh, go," he said, almost dropping the package again as he held it out to her. "Anything else you need? Because that's fine if there is. I don't mind. You're beautiful. Godsdamnit! I'm sorry. I think I'm going to go on break now." Hermes face-palmed himself particularly hard, embarrassed and trying to snap out of Hades's spell even though that was impossible.

        [ location : lerna ] [ age : twenty-four ] [ role : demigod; poseidon ] [ tagged : hydra ]

          - - - - -Hydra rolled his eyes when Rose responded to him. The two commonly engaged in such quips - their entire relationship was almost entirely based on sarcastic comments and insults, which was weird. Honestly, as much as she hated to admit it, she wished there was a bit more to their friendship. No, she wished there was a lot more to their friendship. Partially because she was in love with him, but that was absolutely not the point. In actuality, she just wanted things to be a bit more personal. She felt that the two had a connection and she wanted to explore that further, but there was no way in actual hell that Hydra would want the same thing. Rose didn't think he ever tried for anything on an emotional level and nothing hurt her more.

          - - - - -Being a naturally quick swimmer - and the demigod daughter of Poseidon - she caught up to Hydra quickly. Suddenly, he let out a weird roar, one that made her raise an eyebrow and cringe backward some. She glanced around for a second, making sure she didn't miss anything important or that there wasn't some massive fucking demon fish or something gunning for the two of them, but there was nothing. He laughed, didn't he? What the hell... Whatever. She glanced at each of his heads, smiling the same smug smile he managed to pull off in human form. "Oooh, dangerous, that sounds fun," she said.

          - - - - -She shrugged her shoulders though. "I don't know. I doubt I could navigate in complete darkness. My eyes aren't trained for that and I'm having issues seeing through the mud as it is," she said reluctantly. She hated that she wasn't up for this little adventure. Usually, she'd be all for it, but she was an intelligent creature and she knew she'd probably die down there. That or Hydra would have to pull her out. Either way, it'd be much too embarrassing for her to risk it now. "So, is this where you stay. I mean... where do you sleep?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.

        [ location : mailroom ] [ age : twenty ] [ role : demigod; aphrodite ] [ tagged : hades; cerberus; icarus; hermes ]

          - - - - -Juliet smiled and waved goodbye as Icarus took his leave - something about a nuclear toaster? Oh Gods, this guy was going to blow up the entire compound, wasn't he? - though she immediately returned to the visibly mortified Hermes. What was wrong with him today? She raised an eyebrow for a moment. He was always excitable and jumpy, if she remembered properly, but he was rarely ever stumbling over himself with anxiety. She thought on this for a moment. Was someone playing with his emotions? No, only she was allowed to do that dammit. And she only used charmspeak to help people. Then she nodded to herself in realization. Hades.

          - - - - -She continued nodding and smiling, lacing every action and every word with charmspeak in an attempt to counter Hades and whatever the hell he was doing. Of course, a pathetic little demigod like herself - even one with an ability as rare as hers - is not match for a god. Especially not a relentless god who likes watching people squirm. Juliet liked tp give people the benefit of the doubt and she knew that Hades wasn't evil as the tales foretell, but she also knew that he, like his brother, had the tendency to be a complete douche hole. Just in very different ways.

          - - - - -"Thank gods. I don't even know what I'm looking for," she said, smiling at him. He quickly went back to work, sorting through things and being a nervous wreck. She wished there was more she could do. Juliet was taken aback by his next comment. A - he wasn't fine, that much was easy to see - and B - she looked nice? It was always nice to get compliments, sure, especially when your mother bred you for compliments and compliments alone, but Hermes didn't usually jump into stuff like that. Whatever Hades was doing was really screwing with him. But she blushed and smiled all the same. "Why thank you," she cooed.

          - - - - -Hermes tripped again on his way back over to her and something tugged at the inside of her chest. She was truly sympathetic toward the messenger god. She couldn't imagine if someone was playing her like that. She couldn't imagine losing all of her poise and being a wreck around people. She knew he couldn't be like this all the time. Or, at least, she hoped. He avoided eye contact as he gave over Zeus's package. She took it gently before giggling and smiling as he spoke again. "Don't apologize," she said softly. "Thank you. I don't need anything, but I'll stay with you during your break if you like," she suggested with a shrug, not really wanting to leave him alone with Hades.
