Image

The names of Aeri's former team mates: Tommy, Rayburn, Jones Stets, and Freddie

Scars: Deep burns down both arms, wrapped around her torso and on her thighs and breasts. Also hidden with red coat.

Name: Aerilyn Rayburn-Jones (in honor or fallen family)
Age: 24
Height: 5'4"
Gender: Female

Personality

Quiet and shy, Aeri prefers being around soldiers to other people because there she feels almost normal, and fairly safe. She forces herself to pretend happiness almost constantly, if only to prevent herself from ever slipping into a depression.

Equipment

Aeri has the unique ability to manipulate air and winds at a high level thus making her and Aeromancer.

Personal:

Hat of Silence - a red beret that prevents Aeri from hearing any sounds more than 30 feet away when she speaks the word 'ssejin.' The spell is held by a diamond in a brass setting, and is ending by Aeri clapping her hands.

Favorite moves:

Push - a blast of air at speeds of up to 150 mph. Will blow you away!
Air walk - Though she can't fly, she certainly can get above your head, by walking on nothing!
Pressure - Aeri can holding anything in the air she wants to, using pressure.
Vacuum - Don't make her too Angry! She can create a perfect vacuum in a space as big as two cubic feet for 30 seconds! And the smaller the spall, the longer she can hold! At 1 in cubic, she can hold that vacuum for an entire minute!
WindWall - This fun shield deflects projectiles, small creatures, and any poisonous gasses.
Whirlwind - When Aeri panics, she tends to use Whirlwind. It'll spin her opponent right out of the battle alright, but it also does significant damage to the surroundings.
Whispering Wind - Far away? No problem. Aeri can talk to you on the wind itself. Though heaven help you if she's feeling mischievous.
Air Chain - No you've gone and done it. Aeri is going to tie you up using chains made of air? Confused? Just accept it.

History

Aeri grew up in a simple village full of simple people. By age five, she knew she was different though. By age 13 she lost both parents, he mother to childbirth, her father to jail. She also lost her sister that year to a church fire.

At this point, Aeri went on a traveling adventure, dropping out of seventh grade, hoping to raise the funds for her father's release. Unfortunately, though she was able to earn the money, her father had died to sickness before she could rescue him. Without even a grade school diploma, and having not completed high school, there was very little that Aerilyn could do for work, so she turned back to what she had learned while adventuring: Merc Work.

Aerilyn, by now more than proficient with a gun, became a mercenary for hire, joining a band in order to find work. She worked hard, and moved up in the ranks, going on hundreds of successful missions with her team mates, until on fatal mission went wrong.

Bad information led to the death of most of her teammates. Aeri only survived because she accidentally used her aeromancer powers, rather instinctively. With this, she survived but the rest of her team died. Eventually, Aeri made her way out, and it was revealed that the last mission had lost her any chance on naturally hearing again. She had been using the wind to bring her what words over people spoke.

From there things got worse, and Aeri became a danger, a liability. The company, unwilling to fund a trainer for her, or help her find one, fired Aeri. Without work, her money quickly disappeared, though not before she bought a small plot of land in the middle of the forest and had it cleared and a mage build her a small one room hut made entirely of stone. It held no doors or windows, merely openings where such things would normally be.

She craved the wind now, but couldn't stand the onslaught that being near people brought to ears that should hear nothing. She went into town only when she knew it would be mostly quiet. Suffering from PTSD, and survivor's guilt, and with no education or training in her powers, Aerilyn lived apart from society, making a few simple wooden carvings to sell from time to time, and teaching herself how to use the odd magic she had been given.

So begins...

It had been some time since she was here! Still, Aerilyn stepped into the bar, a grin on her face, and surveyed it. Same old, same old. Stil it had been ages since she was alst here. It was clear wherever she was had been good to her. She stepped to the counter, dressed not in the dresses she had worn to hide her past, but in a crisp, well fitted outfit, more suited to field work than for sitting in a bar.

"Cryoface! It's been ages. I'm almost surprised this place is still standing." She said, a bright smiled at ease on her face.

"Oh Cryo. I knew there was a reason I loved you." She said and headed behind the bar, opening the panel and taking out her prized possession...a rail gun. She kissed the barrel and smiled. Sure, when her now husband had dragged her off planet with the rest of the Terran government she had had a rail gun. But it hadn't been her baby.

Aerilyn took her usual spot at the end of the counter. "Thanks for keeping her safe. I can't believe Ahmad didn't even give me the chance to properly arm myself."

Aerilyn rolled her eyes and mixed the drinks. "As a favor." She informed him. "Keep in mind I don't work here. Supposedly, I'm in between jobs. I had to leave the TIB when I married my boss." And it was quite the wonderful marriage. Aeri was still on cloud nine.

Still, she served the five guys in the rich boy clothes their drinks.

The decidedly unremarkable hovercar bearing Ahmad and Aerilyn Fazari arrived outside the gates, as the Arab man, now aged visibly so that he seemed closer to his age than his previously youthful appearance might have suggested -- likely a result of the recent war -- stepped from the vehicle and opened the door for his spouse, a shy smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He had eschewed the formal tuxedo that most of the human men were wearing in favor of a simple dark suit and subdued cranberry tie.

"I won't lie, Aerilyn," he said. "It's probably the first time in a while that I've been to a party quite like this. Maybe ten years or more." He laughed a bit, quietly, nervously, offering the brown-haired woman his soft palm to take.

Behind them, in a nearly identical hovercar, a driver in a plain black smock opened the door for an older Black man with thin, gray hair, now almost entirely white, as the engine quietly hummed. "Thank you," said Jamal Morrison Lebrun, blinking slowly at the driver as the mechanized lift lowered, allowing him to wheel onto the path leading directly to the door. He was followed moments later by an old, fair-skinned woman with sharply cut dark brown hair -- by all accounts, artificially colored -- who gripped the driver's hand with an iron grasp as she followed her companion.

"I'm afraid I find these affairs distasteful, Mr. Lebrun," said Arianne Drulović, with evident disdain in her otherwise businesslike tone. Standing, she was barely taller than Lebrun in his powered wheelchair. The older woman seemed distinctly out of place, rather underdressed, and perhaps too somber, in her plain black suit and dark teal scarf, with only her familiar saint's medallion hanging about her neck.

Lebrun gave a small, jerking motion of the head, glancing momentarily at the Intelligence Director. "There's good food and wine, Arianne. Enjoy yourself. You deserve some fun once in a while." He wheeled toward the door, careful to maintain a slow enough pace for Drulović to follow, leaning heavily on a plain wooden cane as she walked, a limp quite evident in her movements.

"I'd rather be at home with a good book and a cup of tea, alone," she replied, her voice tinged with bitterness. She eyed Lebrun's pressed white shirt collar and perfectly aligned bowtie. "I'm surprised you managed to find a tuxedo for this, I'll admit."

Aerilyn was dressed to the nines, hair beautiful style up, her hearing air cleverly disguised by her hair. The dress was red highly in style, and most certainly not chosen by her. She didn’t have anywhere to hide her gun. It was really annoying. She placed her arm on her husband’s arm nervous more than she’d like to admit. A high class event like this? She didn’t fit in.

How she was here, she didn’t know. She blamed Ahmad. And if she had to be here, then Drulovic had to suffer with her, as far as she was concerned. She had been the one to ensure Drulovic was actually going to be dragged out there, though it had been tougher than she liked to admit to do so.

“At least I’m not the only one feeling out of place.” She looked the part however. The war had aged her as well, though not near as much as her darling husband. She had so much less to do in it after all.

Aerilyn flushed at the cameras flashes and squeezed his arms. “Ahmad, why do they do that?” She still wasn’t used to the paparazzi. They were horrid people in her eyes. Horrid! She leaned against him, eyes readjusting as they made it through the gauntlet.

“I’d rather be at a gun convention that here.” She whispered to him, “Or any convention.” But not this. He had yet to talk her to going to one of her geeky cons yet. It just sounded so odd.

Of course, he probably thought the same about her love of guns.

She noted they were approached however by Rubano and managed a smile. “A pleasure to meet you Mr. Malijin.” She said with a smiled. “Director Drulovic was reluctant to come without us as well, so I thought it best to come along.” It was the most polite way she could think of to put it.

"Aerilyn, Rubano; Rubano, Aerilyn," Ahmad said, incredibly pleased with the fact that he'd managed to avoid stammering at all in making the introduction as he gestured between the Center-Rightist Chairman and his spouse. "I'm, uh, I'm just here for the, uh, for the food is all. Invitation arrived earlier in the week, and thought maybe, maybe it might be good to get out of the a -- house for a bit." He offered a quick smile that barely hid his near-cringe. "And, yeah, we thought maybe it'd be a good idea to, ah, to come with the Director. She's right -- " He quickly twisted his head to catch sight of the older woman trailing behind as Lebrun wheeled farther into the festivities.

What the hell? A reporter. Aerilyn offered Winne a smiled. “I believe that Terra’s security is excellent, given the young age of our unification.” She offered nervous and squeezed Ahmad’s hand. Still it was terribly odd to be interviewed at all. “But please. I’m not someone you should be asking about that.” She said and glanced around. “Perhaps another guest would be more suited….” She didn’t know. She was rather nervous.

“It’s a pleasure to meet you Rubano, and to be formally introduced.” She squeezed Ahamd’s hand, very very nervous. This was not her scene. She preferred her guns and her ammo and a fight to this. “Forgive me if I take a bit to respond, Rubano. I’m deaf you see, and it’s difficult to read lips, when lights are still flashing in your eyes.”

She followed a long, not quite certain. But they were moving, away from the flashing lights, and she hoped to be able to see clearly once more there.

Ahmad grinned sheepishly. "Yeah, ah, we're just going to be going now," he said, urging Aerilyn to follow him after Rubano and praying he wouldn't have to speak to the damned reporter. Oh Allah, protect me from open-ended questions that I can't produce answers to within a socially acceptable amount of time. He could already hear his imam laughing at him for what must have been a ludicrous, spur of the moment pleading. "Thank you, Minister," he added, already flushing at the realization that this reaction was quite a bit delayed.

Aerilyn was one of the people waiting to get it, though she was lingering out of the line and waited until everyone else was there already. She wasn't overly fond of the crowds, and waited until most were in before turning her hearing aid back on. Not that it mattered. On Terra, the wind spoke to her, and carried others words to her.

It was nice to be back on Terra. Very nice. The woman smiled at the pub. It was good to be back here too. She had gone a few times, before her brief exodus, and it was nice to see it open again. Gambit's was fun for a romp, now and then, and she didn't mind working for them, but given her husband's work, she couldn't exactly get away with being a bar bouncer anymore.

She stepped inside though and admired it, then smiled brightly. "It's good to be back." She said decisively, then moved farther in, checking things out.

"Ain't it, darlin'?" Kane said to Aerilyn, moving to make his way back to his seat at the bar. "Sean, help me tend bar." Emily said to the man before he could sit down, "Jesus, Emi. I just want to read and get ready for my date." Kane told his sister, "The boy from the shipyard? I don't like him." Emily responded.

Emily waved over to Aerilyn, "Come grab a seat, love. There's plenty of room, yeah?"

Aerilyn grinned as she moved closer and nodded, clearly pleased. "Plenty of room." she echoed and took a seat at the bar, pleased as punch. "And I'm glad for it. I've been off Terra too long lately." She didn't even know where her husband was at this point, though it wouldn't be too hard to figure that out. He was a public official after all. He could be found.

The woman smiled and glanced over the menu then shrugged and simply ordered a beer. "I can't wait to go pick up my guns again. I feel naked without them, but i ended up in a place where private ownership was a no go, so they had to stay here."

Kane raised an eyebrow at Aerilyn as he moved to the other side of the bar, "You're in Wing City without any guns on you? I would have picked 'em up first." He said, running a hand through his shoulder length blond hair.

"What took ya' off-world?" Kane asked, reaching down to grab a beer for the woman. It was a bottled Guinness, very cold as if it was waiting in the cooler for just this kind of occasion. "On me, love. Welcome home." He said.

Eyes finding several suited men that entered the room, he watched them as they walked through the pub and to a booth. He knew something about them no one else knew it seemed.

Or he liked their suits.

Oo, guinness. She missed local brews, or at least, terran ones. She shrugged. "My husband's work." she explained and grinned. "He's in the government, fairly high up, so was part of the whole government in exile thing. Despite the fact that I can take care of myself, I was made to leave to go to territory where I, at least, would be safe. i haven't seen Ahmed in years." and she hated that, but it was her life. the woman shrugged.

"Don't necessarily need guns to stop problems. Used to be a bouncer for Gambit's. You practically have to have a little bit of magic for that job." Little was right, Aerilyn could only do very little, but her control was incredibly honed. When you controlled air itself, it was hard to not be talented. Enough control and focus and you could simply stop air from reaching a person. Thirty seconds was enough to cause anyone to faint.

"A bouncer at Gambit's?" Kane asked, focusing his attention back on Aerilyn. "Kane here did that too." Emily interjected, "Not for long though." Kane told Aerilyn, "I did me part and then things started changing in my life. My baby brother got hurt, lost his girl, and now he's somewhere sulkin' and bein' angry."

"Kazen's always been angry, really." He added, shaking his head. "Never been one for government myself. Too many people ya' can't trust. I know firsthand about that. Come from a political dynasty back where I'm from."

The Irishman moved to start taking other orders, but it was clear that Aerilyn had his ear. She was a newcomer and she seemed interesting enough.

"I take it you don't fancy it either?"

Aeriyn snorted and shook her head. "It was honest work, and got me used to mostly civilized society again, but the only part I enjoyed was when I was able to point my rail gun at a squad of idiots and order them out." That was about it. It had been interesting, but stressful work. "I worked in gardens during my exile from home. According to the society where I was, someone as small and delicate as me wasn't suited for working in a bar."

There were a number of people there she'd love to dump into Gambit's, just to see their expression. "I'm Aerilyn Fazari." She introduced them and smiled to them both.

Kane chuckled, coming to lean on the bar in front of Aerilyn. "Too small and delicate? If you worked in Gambit's you're anything but delicate." Kane said to the woman, "I'm Sean, by the way. Sean Horne. Most people call me Kane, you should call me Kane." He introduced himself.

"This lovely little blonde here is my baby sister, Emily." He said, gesturing to the young woman. "Nice to meet you." Emily said to Aerilyn with a smile, "Don't let Kane lie to you. I'm not that little."

She grinned. "Nice to meet you, Kane, Emily." She said. "And don't you hate that? At least he's not as tall as the freaking giants where I got sent. Not that it did me much good. Ahmad was fine, and no attacks made the news." Not where she had been sent. Still, they had discontinued her being his bodyguard pretty quickly, citing conflict of interest and the fact that technically, she now needed guards. It was something she ignored.

Aerilyn was particularly talented at avoiding being found by her own guards. she could take care of herself, thank you very much, and much preferred doing so. "Did you two stay on Terra during the conflicts?"

"We mostly stayed. A lot of people needed help." Emily answered, "We sent our ma back home. She's in a wheelchair, not exactly suited for city destroying wars." Kane added, taking a look around the room. Things were calmer now that everyone was settled, Kane was going to take advantage.

The Irishman started climbing over the bar, his sister swatting him as he did. "I'm taking a break." Kane said, "You barely did anything." Emily told him.

"I did enough, get me a beer, please?"
