Equipment:

  • The "Second Skin" Battle Suit - A bulletproof suit that is thin enough to earn its name. The artful blue lines that are in abundance on the suit charge energy beams on Ariel's hands that she can project forth with highly destructive properties. It also has a cloak setting that can match her to her surroundings or disguise her to the appropriate event.

  • The visor has a heat vision, night vision, and target setting with a zoom feature.

  • Spark Boots allow Ariel to jump to heights impossible for the normal human being. Her heels are a useful extension that allow her to land from these heights without harm, and carry a little extra weight to make sure she'll always land feet first.

  • The All-Purpose Bandit Pulse Rifle - On numerous travels throughout the universe, Ariel has picked up many a trick and has since realized that a simple pulse rifle can't do it all. The pulse rifle has a high fire rate and can hold up to one hundred clips, fully automatic. They come in shock rounds that destroys shielding and fries nerves. There's a grenade launcher attachment to the bottom, but the grenades within this gun don't come in a fiery explosion. Instead, it releases an adamant net that can withstand being dipped in magma for a short amount of time- something she created on a long trip to a volcanic planet, chasing after an important bounty that needed to be caught alive.

  • Wyverntail- A whip with acidic properties, able to melt through skin and various metals.

  • Proximity Spheres, picked up from the Slayer company, they slow a certain area with a radius of six feet for three and a half seconds.

So begins...

"No...no, not the hospital...I need to find Kane!" she said, grasping her ribs softly as she staggered to her feet.

"This whole planet is in danger! This whole solar system, if we don't find that prisoner, is going to go down- do you understand that, kid?" she asked, pulling her visor down over her neck.

"I can't...sit around in a hospital...no matter what!"

"...are all the people on this planet as introverted as you?" she asked, trying to keep her footing.

"Do you not understand that your life is in danger? Or do you not really care?" Taking in a deep, slow breath, she winced. "You need to be careful. You...look just like him." She blinked, wrinkling her brow.

"Your people need to step up. You should get the word out. There's a dangerous criminal on the loose, kid! You almost died today- you would have if I hadn't saved you!"

"Alright, but once you're dead, you're not part of anything at all. You just don't get it, do you?" she growled, latching the grenade back onto her belt.

"If he gets what he needs, you don't almost die; you. Will. Die. No more skating on that hoverboard of yours. No more doing whatever you do everyday." she said, leaning against a car.

"So what? You're just going to live with that? And then not live at all? Die at seventeen? You're not an adult, Xenocrates. You're still a kid if you think like that."

"How would you know?" asked the woman. "How would you know...if you couldn't take him down? We don't need to kill him. In the least, we need to take him in. Capture him." She huffed, winced again, and ran her fingers through her hair.

"You can do me one favor. I need to find a place to buy some clothes fit for this planet and a place to eat and sleep. I have no idea how long I'm going to be here. You think you can do that much?"

"I've already been in one crash today. I don't think I'll want to entice another." she said, sluggishly moving toward his board. "How do I stand on this? I haven't used one since I was a child."

And that had felt like a very long time ago.

"I'm no heavier than any other human woman. The boots add some weight but not a lot."

She would have one hand on his shoulder, both feet thumping onto the board. There were no sparks this time.

"This place...looks a lot like earth." she said, looking around. She breathed very slowly, trying to keep her balance.

"Well, the whole planet is dirt. Dirt and rock. Makes sense." she said, looking around. "But this ain't earth. Earth is different. Lots."

As they came to a store, she looked it over. "So...same styles, too. Funny."

"Well, it wouldn't be called earth, now, would it?" she asked him, raising a thin brow. "A different version of earth from some, sure, but this isn't one of them. I've done my research. This place was never an earth. It's always been terra."

The woman stepped off, then walked into the store. She walked very slowly.

"Hey. You know what, kid? You go ahead. I can handle it from here...but be careful now that Cogor's out there!" she warned him.

"There's no telling what he'll do."

The woman stifled a laugh, more for her damaged ribs than anything else. "Sure, kid. Just stay in line. Stay in line and don't get me in trouble." she told him, rapidly taking things down from the racks and trying them on.

"They've got enough in my size. Good."

"Kid, I'm old enough to support myself, thanks." she said, smirking. She pulled off two more pieces of clothing and vanished into the back room. She would simply pull things over her clothes. Cogor would probably not recognize her...who knew. But she felt Kane would be doing the same right now.

"Well, fuck this..." mumbled Ariel.

She was not a regal woman, but she certainly had some kind of commanding air about her. Even walking down in a rather conservative sundress with a leather jacket over the top, something about her shouted. Something about how she was no common patron. She was not here because she wanted to be.

The kid was asleep upstairs, and her visor was over her neck, disguised as a pearl necklace. She still had the Second Skin Battlesuit on, but she had the camouflage setting on. It was the same color as her actual skin.

Landing herself in a chair, she crossed her legs. Dammit. She could not believe the situation she was in. Cogor had escaped, she could not find Kane, she could not find the artifact...for all she knew, Cogor had already found it!

And she could not do shit about it right now.

Ariel had just been about to order when a slightly familiar voice caught her attention. She whipped around, looking at...a half familiar face.

"Suits me? Well, seeing as I haven't actually taken it off...there's not much you can say." she said, a hand coming to the disguised visor around her neck. Itchy.

"Your name is...Flux, if I remember correctly. Am I right?" she asked, dialing something in. "I did not expect someone like yourself to be seen in a place like this, but this is my first time to the planet. I suppose the culture...s...are quite different."

"I did find him. Briefly." said Ariel, nodding. She reached up to her neck, peeling away some of the battlesuit, revealing nothing but black, blue, and purple bruises.

"Some kid got in the way. Caused me to screw up. I got the blunt of the beating protecting him. Cogor is no joke. He's really enjoying the freedom he has on this planet. I don't know where my partner is, but I'm sure he's still alive-" She paused to take her drink. Some kind of off-world beer. Nothing from earth.

"But I might be wanting to pay for your services after all."

As she took a swig, Ariel turned her head to face Flux. "Amethscor..." she mouthed, brows knitting. She was about to ask, but it seemed he wanted to move oh.

Oh, Jesus, Ariel. You haven't the time for this.

"I need you to search for my partner." she told him, tilting the bottle up into her mouth as she gulped. The headache ebbed away slowly. Damn cryogen.

"My partner, Lucius Kane." She slipped a card from her pocket, then turned it horizontally. A hologram of Kane, clear as day, lit up over it.

"I need you to find him. I need to know what happened. I need to see him very soon. Think you can do that?"

Within Gambit's, a bottle clattered to the floor, and the screech of several chairs being thrown out of the way would reach the ears of most as common noise, however, there was only one patron in the bar that morning. And she had heard the gunshots loud and clear.

The bar door slammed open, but not because of anyone moving in, but because of someone coming out. Rushing through the doors was a tall, lithe woman. She wore a battlesuit, though it hardly looked like one. More like a blue skinsuit than anything for the way it clung to her. A visor clicked over her eyes as her fingers clenched into fists.

"What in the hell is going on?!"

The woman watched the redhead intently, her stare all but blank for the visor covering half her features. Her left hand clenched the door frame, and her body tensed as she tore her gaze away from the woman only to watch the tree fall. She nearly slid the visor off to watch more closely.

As the other woman walked past her and into the bar, the bounty hunter hesitated in thought, then opened the doors and walked in after her.

This was a strange, strange planet.

"What was the deal with that?" she asked her, pointing outside. Her tone was much calmer. Thank God for two good nights of sleep after a horrible wake up from cryogenic sleep after two months.

"No. Actually, I'm from Off-planet. If that isn't far enough I don't know what is." Someone would have mentioned another dimension, but that was too complicated to even begin to think about.

Out of habit, Ariel slid the visor down to her neck, where the camo setting took over. The battle suit vanished and was replaced by a pair of jeans and a leather jacket. The visor became a choker. She had not sensed a thing from Jaz about her appearance, but she could not allow Cogor to be tracking her every move because she was prancing around like a sore thumb in a crowd.

"You didn't answer my question."

"I was hardly waiting for anything of the like." she replied, sliding into a stool. She clasped her fingers together, turning her head to look at Jazz with black eyes. She had noticed- and it was a chore not to- the stunning blue of the redhead's own. Unnatural.

"Rather, I should say I'm intrigued. Not a lot of people can level a tree with a handgun." she let her know, a slight smirk appearing on her lips. She ran her fingers through her slicked-back hair. "Do you work for someone? Or rather...do you work? At all?"

The woman stifled a laugh.

"Ah, I see. That ability and nothing more? That's bullshit." she replied, folding her arms, "I've just seen you once and I can tell that's not the extent. It can't be." She leaned her elbows onto the table, then thought carefully on her next words.

"You could say I'm paranoid." she said slowly, ordering a drink. Some off-world beer. Strange in name and brand. "I've crash landed here. My partner and I were transporting a prisoner. He escaped and he's loose on this planet. Your planet." Her hands clasped together.

"And...now it's in danger. And I can't find my partner or the convict. I might be looking for a few able-bodied...people...to help."
