Dr Erie

Unorthodox to say the least.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Duskhorse

Description

Image

His true name is Dr Matthew Erie of 120 Moonway Crescent, Wing City, Multiverse. He was born to a single mother, who took her own life due to post traumatic stress. It wasn't until he was 13 that his adoptive family told him this. That instigated his love of science. He was determined to check that it wasn't anything else, and so, after organising a fake burial and taking the body of his mother, he carried out several tests. Matthew wasn't happy with working with a dead subject, so after sending her to the nearest cremation service and scattering her ashes in her favourite river, he started testing on live subjects. Small animals at first; birds and fish. But eventually, he became bored of the length of time that he could keep them alive for.

When he turned 15, the investigation into the state that his mother arrived in at the cremation service was re-opened, and evidence showed that Matthew was responsible, he was sentenced to 4 years in Juvenile Detention.

Matthew served his sentence, and was released before flying to Multiverse. He was delighted with the fantastical creatures that lived here, and sought out a carreer in the medical industry. Becoming a nurse at the local hospital, he took his Degrees and PHD, and astounded lecturers with the ease that he passed them. Then at the age of 25, he left his job and continued his pursuit of something that enabled him to work on live subjects. His new degree in chemistry helped him create a chemical. Here are his notes;

Name: Adorthonax
Appearance: Thick, viscous fluid. Translucent yellow.
Effect Time: Maximum 2 hours. Extra dose increases time.
Dosage: For 2 hours, inject 10ml via IV into the back of the hand.
Exact Effect: Keeps patient alive by forcing blood around the body as such a speed that it bypasses any incisions, lesions or contusions. Even serious wounds do not affect patient.
Consciousness Level: Full conscious and able to feel pain. No current solution for this.

He is aged 27 now, and the brown haired, blue eyed man has discovered that his father was not what his mother said. She always told him as a small toddler, that his father was a war hero. She neglected to tell him his father was a Mutant. Tim Erie was the victim of a radioactive bombing in his hometown, and as a result recieved a genetic mutation. This mutation involved single parts of his body aging more rapidly than others. This mutation was passed on to Matthew.

Curren Status: Alive. Left hand aged to around 60 years old. Right eye slightly greyer than his left.

Personality

Dr Erie is somewhat a sadistic man. Being a scientist with a PHD in Human Biochemistry, and Degrees in Chemistry and Physics, he is a curious, adept scientist. He prefers live subjects, and has created a chemical which allows him to keep the subject alive whilst performing several life threatening tests on them. He eventually lets the patient die. Unfortunately for the patient, Dr Erie also is fond of investigating pain responses in different categories of people.

History

A silver flash. A red splash. A nametag glinted in the artificial light. Dr Erie.
A scalpel was lowered onto an already maimed corpse, sending another crimson waterwall to
the floor. "Suction," ordered a gruff voice. The distgusting gurgle and slurp sent the nurse
to the bathroom, her hand clutching at her abdomen. "You can never trust the help these
days can you?" Dr Erie asked.
"Please...please...." coughed a woman.
"Oh shush shush shush, we have only been here for a few minutes," murmered the man, his eyes
trailing from the chest cavity of the woman to her gaunt face. Her tear stained cheeks were
white and sunken with pain, her yellow eyes dull and wet.
"But...your hurting...me..." she pleaded.
"Now now, you know this serum keeps you alive. You won't die. Now hush, I need you to keep
still," Dr Erie's voice was soft, yet dark. He lowered the scalpel again, this time slicing
through the diaphram and the flesh around it.
"Interesting...even though you are the same as Mystique, your innards are so different.
Perhaps it coincides with your difference in skin colour, my emerald maiden," he cooed,
placing the scalpel aside. Dr Erie checked the monitors, the serum was still allowing him
another 15 minutes of exploring before it's effects would wear off and she would bleed out.
"Very well, we need to move on then don't we?" he stated, to himself mainly.
The middle aged blonde male picked up a device that looked similar to a clamp, yet worked in
the opposite way. It pushed things apart.

The doctor made an incision along the shifter's thigh, opening it to see her muscles, bones
and tendonds. "Now, let's see how you have that extra speed the other shifters don't, shall
we?" he asked, before sliding the instrument in place. He then started turning the crank,
endulging in the sweet sound of tearing flesh. The woman moaned softly, the serum paralysing
her vocal chords now. Yet, allowing her pain receptors to work as normal.
"Intriguing...your muscles have many more attachments to the bone, as well as being larger
and in greater number. Now, why would only you have that?" he wondered, just as a red light
started to flash on the machine next to the woman's head.
"Oh...oh dear. Well...we are out of time....That is a shame...I will never be able to watch
your digestive system now will I, at least, not whilst you are dead..."
The woman's eyes widened with fear, as the man removed his gloves, and watched the clock.
"5...4...3...2...1...Time's up..." he sighed, and pushed the door open.
Behind him, the woman's vessels had opened, her vocal chords released. Blood exploded from
her mangled body, covering the best part of the room and machinery. She screamed for a mere
two seconds before the numerous wounds and incisions and exploratory tunnels Dr Erie had
made were allowed to act as they should and the woman finally died after hours of extreme
pain and suffering in silence.
"Clean up lab 3!" Dr Erie called, "And find my next patient..."

So begins...

Dr Erie emerged almost silently from the men's bathroom, drying his red tinted hands on a messy labcoat. "Dammit...it never comes off first time..." he grumbled, studying the back of his rather gnarled left hand. Looking up, he spotted a young man. It seemed that they were the only people here, besides the staff robots, but they weren't really people. "Hello fellow scientist!" he hollered, lifting a hand to the man.

Dr Erie let out a loud, hearty laugh. Something about this man's hospitality was always false, no matter how hard he tried. Truth it, he was always analysing living things, asking questions that he longed to anwer. His methods of doing so weren't the best thoughts to have. "Do not be alarmed friend. Dr Erie," he mused, holding out a hand.

Dr Erie took up a seat at the bar and ordered two drinks. A Bloody Mary for him and a ... "What do you drink lad?" he asked Thane.

Dr Erie placed his own order anyway, a small frown on his face. "Tscht, a man not drinking. What has this world come to?" he sighed, holding his hands up in exasperation. "People complain about what I do, but no-one complains when a man doesn't drink?! Why? Where is the justice?" Yeah. Dr Erie is a little insane.

As the door softly swung closed, it almost immediately opened again. A tall, lithe man wearing a floor length dark brown cloak slipped in before he could be squashed by the heavy door. He was a pretty extrovert male, but today something troubled him. He took a seat at the bar, ordering a double vodka and tonic from the menu.

Dr Erie had already arrived at the bar a while ago. Hours in fact. The strange man was getting stranger as each day passed. He was sat at the bar, drink in hand, pouring over a magazine on the inner workings of the respiratory system, in preperation for his next subject. Sipping wearily from his glass of whisky, the man flipped a page with a rather gnarled left hand.

With a sigh, that was all too obvious and a sound that was familiar to his lips, Dr Erie put his glass down and closed his magazine. "Yes...I guess it is," he replied, after a long, exaggerated look around the bar. Deciding that making conversation may relax him a little bit, he pushed himself upright (since he had been leaning on his elbows) and turned his head to face the woman. "Dr Erie," he mused, holding his hand out to the lady.

"I'm more of a scientist actually. I have a PHD in Human Biochemistry, and a Degree in Chemistry and Physics. May I ask what it is that you do Ms Kwon?" Dr Erie had a certain manner of speaking that made his words almost slide from his tongue like potent poison. He drawled and took his time with words, and was good at thinking of what he says before he says it.

Reaching to the bartender before Jin could, Dr Erie set some coins down in it's robotic hand.

At the mention of Jin being someone upstanding in the medical industry, the Dr's eyes lit up. "Aha! So you too must have an interest, or at the very least a knowledge, of the inner workings of the human body. Am I right?" he pried, pushing himself around on his stool so he was square on with the woman. "Please, the drink was nothing. Now, tell me more..."

Dr Erie smiled broadly. It was a smile so wide it could be mistaken for a Chelsea Grin. "Look. If I told you i'd be able to show you something that I can guarantee you haven't seen, would you come with me?" he asked, a childlike excitement in his voice. Leaning forwards, the man took hold of both of Jin's wrists and stared into her eyes, almost mentally willing her to agree.

"Oh! Only something that you would never have dreamed that you would see! Quickly, you must come with me!" Letting go of Jin's wrists, the man grabbed his magazine and shoved it into his satchel, before fastened his long duster and sprinting outside. The 'beep' of his car remotely unlocking was easily heard, as was the slam of his door and the honk of the yellow Lambourghini's horn as the man jumped into the car and belted up. "What are you waiting for? She can't wait forever you know!"

Almost as soon as Jin's belt clicked into place, the engine roared into life, and Dr Erie pushed the pedal to the floor. The car sped off, turned left at the next junction, and emerged onto a motorway. After a period of silence, the man finally spoke.

"Are you excited Jin? I know I am!" he asked, turning his head to look at her briefly, before focusing his eyes on the road. "It won't be long!|"

"It won't be long before we reach Wing City," revealed the scientist as he took the turning off of the motorway and headed to 120 Moonway Crescent.

Dr Erie shook his head. "Now now, can you not be patient girl?" he asked, a snide smile creeping onto his features. Eventually they arrived outside 102. It was a bid building, victorian in build with white walls and black wood. The single pane windows rattled in their black frames, and the crumbling pathway looked like The Last Walk.

Parking the car, Dr erie stepped out and grabbed the keys from his pocket before unlocking his door. "Come in, come in!" he cheerily called, dropped his satchel, removing coat and switching it for a lab coat before standing in front of a locked, heavy looking wooden door and waiting for Jin.

A genuine laugh escaped Erie's lips, before he straighened his face and shut the door behind Jin. "She's down here..." he breathed, looking the door inside the house and heading down into what outwardly seemed to be a cellar.

Upon entry into the room, it was clear that it was far from that. The room was stone, seemingly carved out of the earth itself. It was cold, and had a high seeling with a poseable lamp hanging from it, as well as a normal light. Around the edge of the room were steel tales, covered with operation tools of all sorts, including some never seen before. There was a tray of almost flourescent yellow injections, along with some already bloodied tools.

In the very centre of the room, there was an upright table, with a woman strapped to it. Her entire chest was open, revealing the lungs, heart and the diaphragm. Blood caked the floor under her, and some of her flesh. At first sight, her handing head and closed eyes made it seem like she was dead, but at the sound of people arriving, she grunted very softly and attempted to lift her head up. "Seems you are weak...maybe the serum is wearing off...." complained the doctor, after locking the door that he and Jin had just come through. Picking up one of the needles, he topped up the woman's IV.

"Jin! Isn't this fascinating?! This is what I was looking at that magazine about.I needed a break. What chance I should find someone else so interested in medical science as you!"
The woman strapped to the table began to sob, her eyes pleading with Jin. "No you too...lady...please...."

A loud laugh echoed around the room, maching the woman on the table flinch as best she could. "I invented a little something. Here, look," he demanded, throwing a needless syringe of the fluid in Jin's direction, before turning to the woman. Reaching to the silver table beside him, Dr Erie gripped a scalpel and held it to the lung of the woman. "I wanted to know if that serum could keep her alive if I remove a lung..." he revealed, steadily drawing the scalpel down through one of the main vessels connecting the lung to the trachea.
