Duncan was employed as head of Security in the Valdez estate. Mr. Miguel Valdez was a high profile owner of a rather profitable construction company and he felt that a security team would help keep his family safe. Mr. Valdez's son, James Valdez, felt that Duncan was much closer to his father than he was. He hired a skilled group of assassins and gave them all of the information to bypass every bit of security that Duncan had devised. Mr. Valdez did indeed feel that Duncan would be better suited to run the company than his greedy son. On the night of April 15th the assassins bypassed security, and murdered the Valdez family in their beds, leaving James alive who had left for an unscheduled meeting.

Upon entering the bedroom to check on the family, Duncan was electrocuted, and presumed dead by the assassins. They then sweeped through the estate, killing all of Duncan's officers. When Duncan came to his senses, the still living Mr. Valdez had crawled from his bed and dialed 911 before passing out on the floor, staining it a deep red with his blood. Duncan rushed to save his close friend and employer, and escaped the estate which the assassins had set ablaze and abandoned. Duncan and Mr. Valdez were taken to the hospital, and while Duncan waited his good friend, Mr. Valdez, succumbed to his wounds and died.

When James returned to find the estate burned he demanded that Duncan be tried for murder. By a stroke of luck, Duncan was acquitted of the charges, and released. This did not, however, stop James from firing him and leaving him out on his own. Duncan knows that James had planned the attack, and will one day be able to truly prove it.

Duncan leaned in close to Titania, "Don't mention Taylor's, and play along." He muttered. "A man tried to mug her, and fired on her." He said, looking at the EMT.

He placed his hand on his earpiece, "Gotcha." He stated, coughing into the inside of his elbow. He had been recovering from a slight cough for the last day or two.

Duncan made sure his hands were clean with some hand sanitizer on the nearby counter. "Alright." He said, pushing Miss Multiverse to where he was instructed. He didn't say anything, or make any faces. He just watched quietly while the EMT did whatever it was he did, and Duncan did everything asked of him.

That's all he could do, for now.

Duncan looked up at Daniel, "I'm a security officer at another bar, and sometimes I like to go to Gambit's and socialize there. I saw it all happen, and I drove them here after the mugging." He said, stepping away to cough into the inside of his elbow again.

He crossed his arms in front of him, "You think she'll be alright?" He asked, looking down at her.

Duncan sat quietly at the bar, and sipped his water. He sat where he always sat, the farthest right stool, and watched where he always watched. The bar was hopping with security, as it had been since the assassination. Duncan had been running double shifts, and was currently wired up on some coffee.

"Another day, another dollar." He chuckled, watching the patrons enter and leave. His eyes flicked to a young woman arguing with her boyfriend. He almost stood up to ask them to cool it, but they left. They'd resolve it outside, or at home. One of the guys on camera would radio him if they started fighting, and he'd ask someone to go out there and break it up. It was just another day.

Duncan looked up at Jonathan, "I'm not sure, we've got a lot tonight, you aren't in uniform so just go dance around and see if you catch anything." He said, gesturing towards the dance floor. He had noticed that Jonathan doesn't often wear his security vest.

"I'll be here if you need me." He chuckled, taking a sip of his water.

Duncan sat quietly at the bar, and sipped at a water. He liked to get a little water in his system before he drank any alcohol. He wasn't wearing his average security uniform and was instead wearing a green sweater and some khaki pants.

He sighed and finished his water, "A beer." He muttered, sliding the glass to the bartender. He hadn't noticed Jon, or Titania enter the bar.

Duncan held up a hand and waved to Jon without turning. Jon had a very unique voice, and it wan't easy to miss. He took a sip of the beer and nodded to the bartender for bringing him a drink quickly. He'd tip him if he remembered.

He sat the glass down, and coughed into his arm. He was recovering from a slight cold, and the cough hadn't fully gone yet.

Duncan hadn't noticed Darius pay for his drink. If he had, he would have at least nodded a thanks. "It's not that bad, I've just gotten over a little cold." He said, taking a peanut from the small tray and shelling it. He popped it into his mouth, "I don't need anything, mate." He muttered.

Duncan didn't even know this guy, why on Earth would he take anything from him? Buying a drink didn't make someone friends.

Duncan stepped quietly into the bar. It'd been some time since he'd been back home to Wing City, and the first place he wanted to go was Gambit's. The Bodyguard took a seat at the bar, and spread a few of his business cards across the counter. He hoped someone would give him a call with something easy, but then again nothing in Wing City was easy.

He wasn't dressed in his normal bullet proof vest and he didn't even have a gun on him. He felt naked, but the familiar weight of his headset kept him sane. He took a quick sip of his beer and let out a dismayed grunt as he spilled some on his chin.

Duncan sighed and grabbed several of those gritty brown napkins that don't absorb liquids and just spread it around. He spread the liquid off of him, and crumpled up the brown paper. He looked down at his grey shirt and shrugged, "Good enough I suppose." He chuckled.

He'd missed the chaos of the bar. Being away so long had made him forget the love he had for the city he'd grown up in.

Duncan was focusing on balancing a coin on its side, and had nearly succeeded when Enzo spoke. He hadn't expected anyone to speak to him, he normally tried to keep to himself when he came here, and it had taken him off guard.

"No I don't mind, you can call me Duncan." He said, motioning to the seat next to him. It'd been almost three months since he'd spoken to anyone but his client and the people that he was ordered to communicate with. It didn't sound like much in retrospect, but it seemed a lot longer from his perspective while it was happening.

Duncan laughed, "I guess you aren't from around here? Having grown up here, I can tell you it doesn't get any better." He said, finally getting the coin to balance on its side.

Duncan had fought supernaturals before, but that was no place for a human. That was during his time as a protection professional and head of Crawford Security Systems, and those weren't times he cared thinking about.

"What's your poison?" he asked, grinning at Enzo.

Duncan slapped his hand down on the coin, and lifted his hand where he was holding the coin between his fingers. He ordered Enzo and himself some scotch. "Scotch good?" He asked, taking his own glass and sipping it. He'd already had a warm-up beer, and now he was ready for some good ole' scotch.

Duncan and Worm stayed relatively silent the entire time, their masks covering up their faces to keep the cold out. The Man and half-orc duo exchanged relatively unamused glances as the other people on the vehicle spoke. Worm flexed his fingers to make sure they were still attached and adjusted his mask. They were both armed with pistols and rifles as well as coats on over their body armor.

"Just like home." Worm laughed through his mask.

Duncan didn't appear amused.

Worm pulled his mask off to light a cigarette, and Duncan spoke over his shoulder, "Best be ready, looks like this is some serious shit."

The Orc chuckled, "No, I hadn't notice." He said, sarcastically. Duncan showed him the middle finger and went about making sure his weapons were loaded and ready for use. If they were hiring guards on top of their own personnel then he knew there could be trouble.

"I suspect the others here are just as professional as us, it's good to have other people besides just us on a job." The Orc said, tossing the cigarette and sliding his mask back on. It buzzed as it set about warming his face up again.

Worm shrugged, "Only half orc, but you're close enough." He held out his hand for a shake. The orc wasn't too tall or too bulky, but from his hand shake one could tell that he was plenty strong. The gloves he wore were thin, but kept in heat better than any thick wool gloves.

Duncan shook the hand of Jack, "Hey man, if we're gonna be all buddy buddy here, I recommend you cool it in regards to Bastard over there." He advised, chuckling a little.

Worm look at the metal leg on the dog, looks like me and your dog's got something in common. The Half-orc pulled the sleeve of his jacket up and showed off his black metallic arm.

Duncan ran back towards Worm, but as the ice broke away he fell and hit his midesction hard against the edge of the ice that didn't break. His legs were dangling perilously above the abyss, "Worm, you wanna give me a hand." He coughed, clawing at the ice to keep himself from falling.

"I'm in a predicament of my own, Duncan." The half-orc groaned. In the confusion, he'd grabbed at Bastard to keep him from falling into the abyss. If he'd successfully gotten a hold of Bastard, he'd hold on for dear life to keep the man from falling into the abyss.

Duncan coughed, "So much for rappelling down, eh?" He joked. "This is hardly the time for cheap humor, Duncan." Worm observed.

Worm chuckled, "Hey mate, I'm a bodyguard saving people is what I d-" At that moment, they fell. Worm was struck by something, and fell into something even blacker than the abyss that had begun to swallow them. There were flashes of light, and the sounds of loud screaming. Wind. Wind was rushing past him, and his eyes snapped open.

Duncan smiled up at Sonia, "Thanks, I'm flattered." He chuckled, looking up at her as she walked towards him. He wasn't going to die, and this was a good thing. He started to pull himself up a little to keep Sonia from having to do too much work when the ice seemed to fall out from beneath him. Well, that definitely put a damper on his whole not dying thing.

Worm hit the water back first, and came up gasping for air. His mask had been pulled off by the water, and the cold air stung his face. Duncan wasn't too far behind him. The two of them swam to the shore and pulled themselves to safety. They removed their wet thick jackets and were wearing thermal shirts and bullet-proof vests.

Worm moved his arm in circles, "I'm good." He chuckled, cracking his fingers.
