a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Coloratura

Description

"Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory." - Oscar Wilde

Image

Appearance:
Medium height with a slender figure that looks best by candleight,
In which her shadow seems to move independently of its own body at times.
She looks about nineteen or twenty though her age in reality is much more than that.

Her face is framed by long pale blonde hair with a loose wavy curl to it
usually falling softly down her back or shoulders.
Skin as white as a fresh corpse with high rosy cheek bones and
Her eyes are orbs of crystal blue bordered by long, ebony lashes.

Fleur is often dressed mid 1700s garb or other types of antiquated clothing but
at performances she wears modern style gowns or costumes assigned to her.
Fleur has full Rose pink lips and white teeth showing two small fangs on each side,
which seem to be able to retract further outwards as in their usual state her fangs are barely larger than a humans canines.

General information:
She is quite skilled in the arts of conversation, and charming for a blood sucking monster.
Fleur is very proud to have a beautiful soprano singing voice that was nurtured with years of training in classical music.

Voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCU7YyTtX4A

Fleur can charm her way out of many situations, or rather lure others in so she might feed.
Miss Leveque really never eats regular food which is probably why she has killed so many though
she will be seen drinking tea or water if at a cafe or bar.
Fleur would catch fire and burn to death if in direct sunlight
however, she can be out in the day for small amounts of time,
if she is cloaked, wearing protective eyeglasses, and carrying a parasol.
She can be out with simply a cloak and possibly eyewear if it is an overcast day.
She will become terribly sick and weak if presented with Garlic or Wolfsbane.

Fleur is a renown classical singer in france though she had to leave as people in the world of classical music
were starting to wonder why it had been so long and she never seemed to age,
She easily hides her condition if singing on a great stage although,
in person it can possibly be detected if one were to make her laugh or beam a great smile.

Fleur grows extremely weak if she has not had her fix of fresh blood in atleast a day,
often suffering from debilitating headaches and
her body will wither away and die or go comatose,
if she does not feed for more than two weeks.
Fleur would also fall ill or even die if she were to
drink the blood of a dead human or animal.

Personality

Personality:
Miss Leveque is obsessed with music and performance, to a point that would be considered unhealthy.
She pours over her music very late into her waking hours and to learn a new musical composition or aria to sing or play is the greatest joy of her life.

She goes from being a reckless romantic to a narccisstic fatalist depending on the year.
When Fleur is feeling hungry she will not hesitate to kill, human blood, ofcourse allows this vampire her unnaturally long life, which she devotes wholly to the arts.

She struggles with guilt and this causes her to lash out occasionally,
and the concept of forgiveness is something she battles with, Fleur feels that the wrongs she has and continues to perpetrate against the human race can mended as time goes by, as long as she is always presenting them with beautiful performance of music, compostion, and other works of art.
She is often somewhat vacant and unreachable, lost in her wild inner thoughts and theories on every corner of the universe.

Fleur is cunning and motivated in many tasks she pursues,
especially those pertaining to her singing,
she always wants to be better than the one before her and
often seeks out situations that put her in the spotlight,
having somewhat of an addiction to musical fame.

The celebrity status she often enjoys and the limelight upon her is how she connects with the great mass of mortals,
without being near humans physically and knowing she may harm or kill them due to her bloodlust.

Around large groups she is very calm and serene, despite being a tempest of thoughts and ideas on the inside.
She enjoys being around other Vampires and immortal beings, if not simply because she can speak with those who often creatively on her level and might possess the same amount of theories and curiosities on the creative schools of thought and many other things Fleur enjoys obsessing over.
However very few match her zeal for music that is almost religious in nature.

Equipment

A small purse with a coin bag, a silver mirror, some Jasmine perfume.
And she is often seen with a book of sheet music.

History

Fluer Cecille Leveque was raised in the late 1700s, Living just outside of Bourdeaux France,
on the small estate of her wealthy merchant family who were determined to raise her up in the fashion that was what they deemed "Appropriée pour une jeune femme" Or fit for a young lady.
She did not go to school to learn academic subjects, rather she had many private tutors in classical singing,
etiquette of the day, conversation, proper french diction and foreign language.

She also had a teacher for ballroom and ballet dance,
along with yet another for piano and harp, which she excelled at though never more so than her vocal abilities.

Being raised a female in the late 1700s she was not taught mathematics or anything having to do with science or the natural world
but has taught herself a great deal of this information in the span of her immortality,
and is often reading and attending lectures to broaden her knowledge of the world.

She was complacently happy her life of stiff luxury and was even quite overjoyed at the prospect of an arranged marriage to a Spanish nobleman,
whom she had never met, she simply felt very lucky and honored to be bringing a title into the family.
A few months before her twentieth birthday, this wedding was to occur,
Ofcourse she had a lavish wedding gown tailored and the ceramony would take place at a large Church in Paris.

However, Fleur began to have doubts, when told that she would cease her musical training when she married.
Despite knowing she could never be a performer,
whenever the young frenchwoman went to the Opera in Paris or Bourdeax she would envision herself as the leady soprano,
singing a rueful aria through tears or soaring through notes of a coloratura passage with joy.

Someone in her life must have known this very deep secret of hers,
as she visited on the night of her wedding.
To this day Fleur has very little recollection of the incident,
only knowing that the stranger was a male
and he must have fed her his blood and
bitten her, leaving a string of pearls to cover the bites and
taken a ribbon that had kept her hair in a braid that night.
He also left a thin book of sheet music,
containing one aria composed for her soaring soprano voice,
seemingly an original, that must have been written by the intruder.

Fleur was found dead the next morning with two little wounds on the side of her pale neck.
After only a few hours of being given to the undertaker in preperation for a funeral,
her body disappeared in the night,
leaving no trace of her.

Fluer had awakened as a Vampire, and would not return home.
So, she travelled and went to live abroad in Italy to continue studying voice,
and take the stage singing at the well respected Theatro La Fenice,
after atleast fifty years the young lady went back to France...to become a famous Soprano there as well,
performing at the famous Palais Garnier or Opera de Paris.
Then, as one could infer, because Fleur did not lie low, once more putting herself in the limelight,
she had to leave again after suspicion rose against the Opera star who never seemed to age.

So begins...

The old wooden doors creaked open as they were forced to move by the demure hand that pressed upon their frame. In with cool afternoon breezes strode a creature wrapped in a inky blue satin cloak that covered her entire form and face. The woman carried a white parasol made of Battenberg Lace, she stowed her parasol and cloak at the umbrella stand and coat rack near the door. Under her wrappings The Stranger was revealed to be wearing a rather antiquated getup. She smoothed the damask of her deep blue dress that clung tightly to her small waist and then bustled outwards. The neckline was square shaped, just a little bit low cut and trimmed with cream colored lace, the sleeves were fitted and cropped at the crook her arm with a bit of the same colored lace as her bodices neckline; it looked like something that would have been the height of fashion in the 1780s.

The smell of dusty old books and glossy wooden shelves filled her nose more than usual today, as she heard some commotion coming from an often disused and very secluded corner of the scholarly building. Fleur stepped quickly over to the area where the accident had occurred.
Fleur’s bright azure eyes widened when she saw the destroyed bookshelves “Mon Dieu! All the precious volumes!” She exclaimed in a near panic.

The woman continued to stare at the disastrous collapse in shock. "I have ... no idea how that happened." she stated flatly, cursing under her breath and deciding to make a hasty exit rather than stay and have to pay.

From the corner, the young man sighed, watching her go. "This is why I stay away from public places ..." he muttered, "Typical that as soon as I find an empty corner people start coming to it."

Rune looked over at Fleur, shrugging his shoulders helplessly. "You should probably leave, for your own good ... that sort of thing happens a lot when I'm around."

Fleur was more preoccupied with saving the tomes that now littered the floors of Wing Cities Library. She ignored most of what he said and looked over with a quizzical expression “Do you think the shelf is completely destroyed now or might it still be sturdy if we were able to push it back up?” The young looking woman seemed to simply assume that Rune would help her, figuring everyone was just as invested in the preservation of knowledge as she was.

She was, champagne colored curls falling about her waist and silky gown rustling, attempting to push up the colossal bookshelf by herself, but upon realizing all the books had not fallen out, and that they would fall out either way if she tried to lift to shelf, Fleur began to collect the volumes up from off the ground and stack them on a reading table nearby.

The pale Frenchwoman filled up one table and then began handing small stacks to Rune “Could you please set those over there?” she pointed to another table “If all the books are off then they will not continue to be damaged and the shelves will be lighter.”

"I wouldn't..." Rune began, only to be interrupted by another loud crash, as one of the legs of the reading table broke and deposited half the stack of books onto the floor. He winced. "Just- let me do it," he said, sighing.

Putting his own book aside, Rune stood up and started collecting the books. "Sorry, it's nothing to do with you, but if you try, it'll go wrong in every possible way chance could make it go wrong. Trust me on that one. I shouldn't have come here."

Fleur whirled around at the sound of another crash “Heavens! There is no soundness of structure in this building it seems.” She shook her head lightly, and her voice was soft and gentle as she addressed him this time “Why is it that you seem to think that all of this is your fault?” She arched a brow at him in slight confusion and looked around worriedly at the scattered books. “Are there no attendant’s working here to help with such a thing?”

After contemplating his words once more she commented “Well, I shall never mistake you for an optimist. What is your name?”

"Rune. And it's not pessimism, it's fact." The boy replied, tucking a few books under his arm and starting to stack them. "Everyone around me has bad luck, to an absurd extent. I try to keep my distance, but... obviously, it doesn't always work."

He gave Fleur a small, sad smile. "I won't be offended if you just want to go so nothing bad happens to you."

Fleur guessed at some supernatural origin to his problems, there was always one in Wing City it seemed. But she knew what it was like to feel like one had to keep themselves from the presence of other, she had done so as well when she first killed a human due to her bloodlust which, luckily for Rune, was satiated at the moment.

She clasped her hands in front of her and sighed “So, you isolate yourself? Is it not painful?” In her concern her French accent was thick as treacle.

"You get used to it, after a while." Rune said, shrugging. "I talk to my family on the phone, and some older friends, but people don't want to spend much time with me in person for obvious reasons."

He shook his head, "I'm just trying to fix it. Somehow. Before then I can't see things changing."

“You have not always been this way?” she inquired with her own softly accented voice “is it a curse then?” Fleur sat down gracefully on the floor, figuring that if she were to sit in a chair it might just break due to Rune’s unlucky presence. “Then do you have employment?” She figured this awful luck had surely affected his livelihood.

"Not always," Rune replied, "It's been about three years now. I got on the bad side of some old woman. Of course, she turned out to be some sort of witch, sorceress... I don't know. And she put this curse on me."

He shook his head as he deposited the last of the books on the table. "I haven't found anyone who's been able to undo it. And no, I don't have a job. I'm still relying on my parents. Like a loser, yeah."

He gestured towards the pile of books he'd been reading through in the corner. "I spend most of my time trying to find information on the spell. I moved here just a few weeks ago, my home city doesn't have much magical knowledge available to the public."

“I see…” She put a dainty hand on her ivory colored chin for just a moment in thought “Why do you not seek out this old woman?” Her voice was now filled with hope “Surely you could make amends?”
She stepped across the pile of dusty books, the scent of the jasmine oil on her skin and hair mingling with that of some moldering tomes, wishing she could help but not wanting to cause more harm to the precious volumes.

“What could you have done to her that would make her want to retaliate in such a way?” Fleur was rather curious now, hoping that the person she was speaking with was not one who went about being cruel to old women.

"I don't know where she is now." Walking back over to the beanbag, Rune sat, crossing his legs. "And, um... I accidentally ... killed her cat."

He ran a hand through his hair awkwardly, "I was trying to reach a book on the top of a shelf in her shop. I wasn't tall enough, so I stood on it. It fell over, I was okay, but... it landed on her cat. She already didn't like me, so I guess she just snapped."

“Poor darling… I’m sure you apologized?” Fleur was referencing the cat that was crushed to death, not Rune, but she felt sorry for him as well.

“I’m sure we could find her, where was this book shop?” Fleur figured he had already tried this, but one could always give it another go.

"I tried, but she wasn't much inclined towards listening." Rune said, laughing. "Trust me, if I could track her down, I would have done. She packed up and left a few weeks later, before the curse properly kicked in. I don't know where she went. She didn't talk to many people. It was in my home city, Asta, a few hours' drive away."

“France is very different than Wing city and the areas surrounding it, In my childhood I spent my summers in the south, Baux-de-Provence, a little farming village that borders the Rhone river.” She spoke with a wistful tone settling into her voice. “The south is mostly green, rolling hills, dotted with wineries and the terra cotta roofs of village homes.” She closed her eyes and smiled “I must get back there, maybe within the year even.”

She looked up, it must have been nearing dawn, this set Fleur’s teeth on edge with worry. She had no protective cloak or anything to keep her from the sun.
Fleur got up and began to hurry through the brush “Let’s go now Noten!” She urged, it must have been at least 4 am by then.

The leaves made crunching noises as Fleur’s scurrying bare feet trod across them in a hurry. Linnet birds and meadow larks were beginning to sing a song that rang out onto the cool forest air, and the nightingales had become silent.

Fleur had to get out of the forest before sunrise or she wouldn’t be leaving it at all. Her heart was beating hard in her chest now and she was almost shaking with worry, without anything to cover her from the light of day, this truly was a dire situation for her. She still held the black satin clutch purse firmly in her left hand, her car keys jingled about inside it when she ran.

“I’m quite alright! Thank you very much.” She assured him in a frantic tone that betrayed her true state of mind. The air began to warm up just ever the slightest, but Fleur could feel it and it frightened her even more still. She stopped and looked around the brush “How are we to ever get back to the pathway with flora this thick?”

The woods were dark and white mist seemed to have gathered all around them, not betraying the sight of anything that was more than five feet in the distance. Rope –like vines were entangled over trees and shrubs, while fallen logs and boulders were also dotting the green thicket. It seemed obstacles were all around.

The mist was now heavy and thick with a grey hue to it, and even Fleur’s heightened sense of sight could not penetrate it.
“Thank you” She said quietly, sounding quite defeated and afraid now, a complete turnaround from before, but with dawn approaching her constitution was fading. She followed quickly behind him, it might of brought some new meaning to the blind leading the blind, with the mist so dense, Fleur’s eyesight was almost useless.

Fleur grabbed onto the back of his jacket like a child chasing behind their parent. “I suppose that is quite useful. I rely altogether too much on my sense of sight I suppose, despite having such good ears.” Fleur’s vampirism allowed her to have the sight, smell, of a deadly predator, far superior to that of a human but she was not at all used to having her vision completely clouded up so it threw her for quite a loop.

Fleur stepped over the log and nearly tripped across it in her distress, causing her to tug much too forcefully upon Noten’s jacket “Apologies!” Fleur piped as she caught herself on the other side of the log.

Fleur listened intently as he spoke, it was a welcomed distraction to the possibility of her death at the hands of the ever approaching light of day. She stepped around the rocks with a bit more finesse than she handled the log with. “Focus on other things..? How so?” she was not sure if Noten meant other senses or other things in general.

The sound of a creek could be heard in the distance, they might have been closer to the glen now but not by too much. Fleur was now wishing she had drunk the bottle of blood and champagne that had been left to her by some anonymous admirer, as she was becoming exhausted and the blood lust might kick in at any time, she just hoped she wouldn’t be around Noten when that happened.

“How did you lose your sight…? If you don’t mind me asking.” Fleur hopped the question was not impolite.
