Description

"Music is the art which is most nigh to tears and memory." - Oscar Wilde

Image

Appearance:
Medium height with a slender figure that looks best by candleight,
In which her shadow seems to move independently of its own body at times.
She looks about nineteen or twenty though her age in reality is much more than that.

Her face is framed by long pale blonde hair with a loose wavy curl to it
usually falling softly down her back or shoulders.
Skin as white as a fresh corpse with high rosy cheek bones and
Her eyes are orbs of crystal blue bordered by long, ebony lashes.

Fleur is often dressed mid 1700s garb or other types of antiquated clothing but
at performances she wears modern style gowns or costumes assigned to her.
Fleur has full Rose pink lips and white teeth showing two small fangs on each side,
which seem to be able to retract further outwards as in their usual state her fangs are barely larger than a humans canines.

General information:
She is quite skilled in the arts of conversation, and charming for a blood sucking monster.
Fleur is very proud to have a beautiful soprano singing voice that was nurtured with years of training in classical music.

Voice: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCU7YyTtX4A

Fleur can charm her way out of many situations, or rather lure others in so she might feed.
Miss Leveque really never eats regular food which is probably why she has killed so many though
she will be seen drinking tea or water if at a cafe or bar.
Fleur would catch fire and burn to death if in direct sunlight
however, she can be out in the day for small amounts of time,
if she is cloaked, wearing protective eyeglasses, and carrying a parasol.
She can be out with simply a cloak and possibly eyewear if it is an overcast day.
She will become terribly sick and weak if presented with Garlic or Wolfsbane.

Fleur is a renown classical singer in france though she had to leave as people in the world of classical music
were starting to wonder why it had been so long and she never seemed to age,
She easily hides her condition if singing on a great stage although,
in person it can possibly be detected if one were to make her laugh or beam a great smile.

Fleur grows extremely weak if she has not had her fix of fresh blood in atleast a day,
often suffering from debilitating headaches and
her body will wither away and die or go comatose,
if she does not feed for more than two weeks.
Fleur would also fall ill or even die if she were to
drink the blood of a dead human or animal.

Personality

Personality:
Miss Leveque is obsessed with music and performance, to a point that would be considered unhealthy.
She pours over her music very late into her waking hours and to learn a new musical composition or aria to sing or play is the greatest joy of her life.

She goes from being a reckless romantic to a narccisstic fatalist depending on the year.
When Fleur is feeling hungry she will not hesitate to kill, human blood, ofcourse allows this vampire her unnaturally long life, which she devotes wholly to the arts.

She struggles with guilt and this causes her to lash out occasionally,
and the concept of forgiveness is something she battles with, Fleur feels that the wrongs she has and continues to perpetrate against the human race can mended as time goes by, as long as she is always presenting them with beautiful performance of music, compostion, and other works of art.
She is often somewhat vacant and unreachable, lost in her wild inner thoughts and theories on every corner of the universe.

Fleur is cunning and motivated in many tasks she pursues,
especially those pertaining to her singing,
she always wants to be better than the one before her and
often seeks out situations that put her in the spotlight,
having somewhat of an addiction to musical fame.

The celebrity status she often enjoys and the limelight upon her is how she connects with the great mass of mortals,
without being near humans physically and knowing she may harm or kill them due to her bloodlust.

Around large groups she is very calm and serene, despite being a tempest of thoughts and ideas on the inside.
She enjoys being around other Vampires and immortal beings, if not simply because she can speak with those who often creatively on her level and might possess the same amount of theories and curiosities on the creative schools of thought and many other things Fleur enjoys obsessing over.
However very few match her zeal for music that is almost religious in nature.

Equipment

A small purse with a coin bag, a silver mirror, some Jasmine perfume.
And she is often seen with a book of sheet music.

History

Fluer Cecille Leveque was raised in the late 1700s, Living just outside of Bourdeaux France,
on the small estate of her wealthy merchant family who were determined to raise her up in the fashion that was what they deemed "Appropriée pour une jeune femme" Or fit for a young lady.
She did not go to school to learn academic subjects, rather she had many private tutors in classical singing,
etiquette of the day, conversation, proper french diction and foreign language.

She also had a teacher for ballroom and ballet dance,
along with yet another for piano and harp, which she excelled at though never more so than her vocal abilities.

Being raised a female in the late 1700s she was not taught mathematics or anything having to do with science or the natural world
but has taught herself a great deal of this information in the span of her immortality,
and is often reading and attending lectures to broaden her knowledge of the world.

She was complacently happy her life of stiff luxury and was even quite overjoyed at the prospect of an arranged marriage to a Spanish nobleman,
whom she had never met, she simply felt very lucky and honored to be bringing a title into the family.
A few months before her twentieth birthday, this wedding was to occur,
Ofcourse she had a lavish wedding gown tailored and the ceramony would take place at a large Church in Paris.

However, Fleur began to have doubts, when told that she would cease her musical training when she married.
Despite knowing she could never be a performer,
whenever the young frenchwoman went to the Opera in Paris or Bourdeax she would envision herself as the leady soprano,
singing a rueful aria through tears or soaring through notes of a coloratura passage with joy.

Someone in her life must have known this very deep secret of hers,
as she visited on the night of her wedding.
To this day Fleur has very little recollection of the incident,
only knowing that the stranger was a male
and he must have fed her his blood and
bitten her, leaving a string of pearls to cover the bites and
taken a ribbon that had kept her hair in a braid that night.
He also left a thin book of sheet music,
containing one aria composed for her soaring soprano voice,
seemingly an original, that must have been written by the intruder.

Fleur was found dead the next morning with two little wounds on the side of her pale neck.
After only a few hours of being given to the undertaker in preperation for a funeral,
her body disappeared in the night,
leaving no trace of her.

Fluer had awakened as a Vampire, and would not return home.
So, she travelled and went to live abroad in Italy to continue studying voice,
and take the stage singing at the well respected Theatro La Fenice,
after atleast fifty years the young lady went back to France...to become a famous Soprano there as well,
performing at the famous Palais Garnier or Opera de Paris.
Then, as one could infer, because Fleur did not lie low, once more putting herself in the limelight,
she had to leave again after suspicion rose against the Opera star who never seemed to age.

So begins...

“I was simply wondering, as you looked down when I was disrobing, I should feel my modesty quite forsaken if I had been incorrect on your condition.” Her tone was light and airy, it was obvious she meant no harm. She pulled the top off of the mineral water and poured some into a glass from a little drawer housed in a small white dresser near the back of the room. She poured herself a glass of water as well, and set Noten’s glass beside him. She then glided to another corner of the dressing room and looked through the bottles of wine and champagne that had been left for her, she popped the cork on some wine and sniffed it before re-corking it and putting it back down “it’s as if they think I’m some sort of alcoholic
” she laughed “I do indulge in drink but not nearly as much as people must think.”

She sipped her water and continued to look through the bottles , there was one with a red ribbon , deep cherry colored glass bottle , and the note card simple said “To Miss Leveque, Best wishes always.” But no sender was named, she looked at this bottle quizzically and turned it over in her pale hands a few times, it was cold as ice. Finally uncorking the thing, she sniffed it , first one could detect the scent of French champagne then rose water, just like a pink champagne. But there was a slightly rusty, warmer undertone, almost like very fresh blood. Fleur’s pale cheeks turned light pink and she quickly put the cork back on, looking at the card with confusion.

Fleur thought fast and decided to use his assumption to her advantage “Yes, they corkscrews can be razor sharp, just a little cut, its really nothing though.” Fleur was glad he could not see the worried look on her face. She leaned down with grace, lifted his ivory colored cane and offered it out to him, chuckling “I did not mean to startle you in any way.” Fleur figured the bottle must have come from a fellow vampire attending the show, and thought no more of it.

“Of course, wouldn’t want to get a nasty infection
” Fluer lied through her teeth, even if she was cut an immortal being such as her wouldn’t be getting an infection, but oh well, he was human and she wasn’t hungry nor did she want to kill him so Fleur was not going to chance revealing herself to the blind boy.
She wasn’t sure how to mimic the sounds of a cut being cleaned so she decided to just mime the entire thing, She poured some of the vodka that was given to her as a gift onto a silky handkerchief and then patted it on one of her fingers, rolling her azure eyes at herself as she did so. Then she beamed with snow white teeth “There we go!” She sat back at her vanity table and attempted conversation “Did you enjoy the show?”

“You play? I was sure you were a musician but violin is one of my most favorite instruments.” She smiled with full rose colored lips, looking a little coquettish “Do you play well?” She walked out briefly to the bathroom that was joined to her dressing from by a door and began to run a bath, pouring jasmine and rose oil in as the hot water ran. “Don’t worry this won’t take long, I only want to wash away all the makeup and glitter they had me in to play Rusalka
.one can’t be wandering about Wing City looking like a water sprite lest its denizens assume that you are one.” She said this with a grin that could be heard in her tone. “Do you make a career of music?”

“Were you trained the proper way or did you learn by ear?” She said sounding a little bit pretentious but curious at the same time. The songstress turned the tap off and stepped into warm flower scented water, Nofen would feel the hot tendrils of jasmine scented steam waft in from the little bathroom that connected to her dressing room. “I used to get stage fright, it was a very , very , very long time ago though. And this was when women performers were made to feel like shameful harlots in France.”

Fleur paused, she had said too much she knew, but perhaps it would be easier to hide her eternal youth and the fact she only looked only about twenty, as he was blind, despite the fact that her voice had all the youth of springtime in it and her skin, which had surely brushed his when handing him the chocolates, was extremely soft and smooth. She really hoped he had not heard other patrons of the opera comment on her physical beauty or youth, or perhaps he’d just ignore her slip of the tongue altogether. “where is your beautiful instrument now?” Anything that made music was a truly gorgeous sight to Fleur so she did not need to see the violin to know she found it lovely.

“I most enjoy the look and soft petals of a Rose but Jasmine blooms have a wonderfully irresistible scent.” She pulled the drain and let the water out of the tub when she was done with her bath, and pulled a fluffy cream colored towel off the rack next to her, drying herself off. She was silent for a moment, thinking up a lie “I meant in my childhood
My family and some others in the small farming village I am from were that way
That part of France, can be very patriarchal.” She was betting he hadn’t lived in any of the smaller villages in France or she’d be caught in a falsehood.

After becoming dry she put her silky kimono back on and was combing her long locks of blonde and weaving little pink rosebuds from one of the bouquets she’d received as a gift, through the loose curls. She moisturized her face and neck with a splash of rose water and put some safflower oil on her lips.

Fleur grinned at this and walked over to a small bouquet that was almost completely buried behind all the other vases , and plucked a flower with four little white buds on it, it was a Lily Of the Valley flower, she set it in his lap. “They are such dainty little things
” She sauntered back over to her vanity table and a noise of someone lumbering down the hall could be heard.
She rolled her eyes at this, and peered out the door. It was her co-star, an Italian tenor who played the cold prince in Rusalka “Ciao, il mio principe!” She had greeted him playfully in Italian saying Hello my prince.

He was obviously on his way to being completely drunk already and he shouted back to her in his native language that she was missing the after party. “Oh mon dieu! Has it started? So sorry Adolfo!” She switched back to French and then to English once more in her surprise. Her co-star stood in the door and began to chuckle heartily looking at Nofen “So you aren’t quite as prudish as we all thought
” Fleur took this in her serene stride and just laughed shaking her head “Now it isn’t that way, this is Nofen, he got lost and found himself in my room. He plays the violin.” She had said part of this explanation in Italian and part in English. The olive-skinned man offered his hand to Nofen, and after introducing himself and doling out some more flirtatious teasing to fleur he wandered back to wherever the after party was being held.

Fleur waited until Adolfo was gone and shut the door “Apologies, he’s a bit ungainly.” She began looking the armoire for something to wear to wherever she’d be going next “Would you like to accompany me to the soiree or shall we go elsewhere?” Fleur wasn’t sure if she was in the mood for a party, but she might stop by just to greet her cast mate’s. She asked him another question, this one more enthusiastic than the rest “What type of music do you enjoy listening to?”

“Do you have a favorite composer?” She beamed “I’m in love with Chopin and Faure. “ Fleur would have liked to expound upon this saying that she had actually been a good friend to both of these composers in their day, but she wasn’t going to reveal herself despite wanting to discuss the works of these two very famous composers. She dressed herself in a sapphire blue evening gown, embellished with diamonds at the waist. She decided to take the rose out of her hair and instead weave little diamond hair pins into her curls, she put a diamond bracelet on as well and low black satin heels. “Do what you like, Its no bother to me, but musicians are always welcome at these parties.”

The jewelry in her hair sparkled like snowflakes on wheat, and her pale skin seemed to glow in the dim light, it was really quite a sight to see. “Shall we then?” She offered a demure hand to Noxen, ready to lead him to the door as the room was quite cluttered. The party was located at some upscale hotel across the way, the rooms there would be at least 300 dollars a night. And the main ballroom has been rented out to provide the large cast of the Wing City Opera house with a place to party after they kicked off their summer season with a production of Rusalka, full of glittering classical stars.

“Yes, let’s do that, I’d adore a song.” She gently offered her arm to Noten, it looked proper and she figured he might need some help through the unfamiliar hallways, “Where did you leave it? The ticket office?”
She paused “Do you have a car or shall we take mine?”

“Oh yes I forgot! Apologies.” It was easy for Fleur to look past sensory defects as she saw all human to have them, as her heightened senses always made theirs pale in comparison. She passed by a marble staircase and opted for a way that would be easier for him. Fleur led Noten into a small elevator and pressed the button for the first floor, in the elevator with them was someone who had been in the audience that night, a pale and tall man with jet black hair, slicked back in a very dapper manner. He had dark circles around eyes that seemed to be crimson colored and he was unabashedly staring at Fleur, even if one could not see the man there was a strange energy emanating from him.
He smirked and said something in French to Fleur, though she didn’t seem to know the man. “Une autre performance Ă©blouissante, petit rossignol.” Fleur’s pale cheeks turned to roses and she spoke softly “Merci beaucoup, tu vas Ă  la fĂȘte aprĂšs aussi?” The man replied “Oui Rossignol.” Fleur looked flustered by his forward manner and replied “Je te vois là
” The conversation obviously started with a compliment, they spoke briefly about the coming festivities, and the man continued to call her “Rossignol” The French word for Nightingale. When the elevator doors opened the man simply vanished into a thin and cold mist. Fleur led Noten to the ticket office and said nothing more about it.

Fleur murmured to herself “I see him in zhe crowd sometimes
many of my performances, We have never spoken before though, it is strange
” when they reached the box office she produced a key from her satin clutch purse and opened the door to the empty office. His violin was sitting on a desk near the door, Fleur picked t up by the cases candle and gave it to Noten. After this she shut and locked the door once more and led him out the parking lot. Her car was a black Austin A40, it looked like something from the 1950s.

Fleur opened the passenger door for Noten, the seats were made of cream colored velvet, and felt extremely soft to the touch. The car had no stereo but instead a tape player, Fleur reached into her glove box, inside where mostly cassette tapes of classical composer, and only a few modern artists, she pulled out one that was blank, it must have been some sort of mix tape. It was comprised of music spanning from the 1600s with European folk and Gregorian chant, to classical art song, to rock music from the 1960s to late 80s.
She popped it into the stereo and it began to play this song. “I don’t often listen to this sort of thing but this
band, has really got a hold of me lately.” Noten had met Fleur at an odd time, when she was really attempting to modernize, she’d been living like a lady from the 18th century for quite a while now and figured it was time for a little bit of change. She put the car in drive and stepped on it, turning sharply out of the parking lot. And into traffic filled streets.

“All sorts of things
I’m not even sure to begin. But in general
I love music that says something to me, that challenges me, and speaks to me. And when a musician gives me their mind and heart, and shows me the human condition in their compositions or songs.” Fleur looked wistful with this and the song switched to something classical. “I find music, expresses everything the human race has to say but
in a very passionate and almost desperate way.” She was silent for a time and they pulled up to the hotel parking lot, now they were waiting in line for valet parking. “Do you agree?”

The song switched one more time before she saw a red carpet and lots of photographers before the main entrance, Fleur blushed, she had forgotten the gala that kicked off the summer opera season was kind of a big deal and she felt embarrassed she had brought her own car to the event.
Fleur handed the keys to a valet and stepped out, the valet opened the door for Noten before getting in the vehicle and driving it down to park near the hotel. She took his arm in the crook of her own without waiting for his approval, and a muttered “sorry about this, smile
or don’t I suppose it doesn’t really matter” Even without sight to be blinded by the light of the cameras one could feel the heat of their flash and hear shutters all around. The scratch of a pen on paper could be heard every few seconds, it was apparent that Fleur was signing this, she smiled at the crowd and made gracious comments in reply to compliments all while attempting to walk quickly in.

Once in the hotels parlor, she giggled, almost acting as young as she looked for a moment “My goodness, so sorry about that I didn’t know there would be press.” In the regal dining room that adjoined with the glittering ballroom plates where being cleared and all eyes turned on Fleur when she walked in. There was a seat near the end of the table saved for her, and another empty one next to it, supposedly incase the Opera star brought a date, which she never did. She led Noten to the chairs and a from across the table a giggly 18 year old with bright red hair in a bun said something to Fleur in a heavy German accent “Oh finally you’ve got someone on your arm!” Fleur sighed with a chuckle “This is simply a new friend of mine, His name is Noten,” she turned to him “This is Hilde, she’s one of the ballerinas in the 2nd act.” Fleur looked around “They seem to be serving desert now, I hope you like sweets. I’m glad we missed the speech

Waiters and Waitresses came out, each looking very dapper in black tie attire, and set a slice of Persian Love Cake on a porcelain plate, before each person, set beside that was a beautifully sculpted glass dish filled with saffron ice cream for each guest. After that glasses filled with red wine where taken away and in their places a cup of hot chai tea was left. The Persian cake was coated in rose water buttercream and the inside had a small layer of whipped lemon chiffon, the base note of the pastry was soft and carmely, like a cross between cake and streusel almost and the outside was dotted with pistachios and cardamom. The ice cream was thick with a perfume and spicy note while still being creamy and sweet.

Fleur ate very slowly and sipped her tea, she seemed to savor everything in the room and enjoyed listening to the conversations that where whirling all around her at the table. A classical ensemble was playing at the front of the room but not so loud as to disrupt conversation “I hope you don’t mind me bringing you here, I like to keep myself surrounded by people who understand through music
”
