Liam tumbled down a small set of stairs and came to a stop. Just a minute ago he'd been in Wing City about to be set on fire by some guy that called himself a pyromancer. He'd only heard of that in video games back on Earth and after falling out of the sky in Wing City, he wasn't entirely surprised to appear in random places. What was he, some sort of time traveler?

When he sat up, he saw a woman stumble and fall in the street. "Woah, hey!" He shouted, getting to his feet and running out to her. He had to push through a small crowd to get there, but he didn't care. Someone was about to get hit!

Liam moved into the street to help her up, but stopped when he saw that she'd already stood. He called out to her, "Are you alright?" He couldn't understand what the guy that had gotten out of the car said, but it definitely sounded Japanese or Chinese or something. He couldn't really tell the difference.

All of the lights and people made him feel like he was in Japan or something, so it could've been Japanese. At least he was somewhere similar to a place back on Earth. Wing City couldn't have been farther.

Liam held up his hands, and slowly backed off of the street. He didn't want a part in any of this gang violence. He didn't know any gang fashion, but he had his orange good luck scarf tied around his neck. Hopefully that didn't mean anything in gang-lingo.

He couldn't get much further onto the sidewalk than just on the edge due to the thick crowd passing. He didn't want to get swept away, just out of any action that might occur. Hopefully, if the woman survived then at least he'd have someone else that spoke English to talk to. Unless she shot him too. Did she have a gun? For now, he'd assume they all did.

Liam leaned down, and sipped the crystal clear water of the river. It came from a spring nearby and he knew it was clean enough to drink. After a minute, he sat back, "So, Shane, what made you want to become a Banisher? That is, if you don't mind me asking." He said, grinning at her.

He knew they were just on perimeter duty and a little chat wouldn't hurt anything. He'd joined up about a day before her, so they were stuck as a team until one became better than the other and got promoted.

Liam chuckled, and picked a few petals of the water to look at them, "I know that feeling. I was pretty lost when I got here, and this seemed like the best thing to do with my new start." He said, dropping the petals lightly back on the water and watching them float away."

He was wearing a leather flight cap with goggles and a white V-neck undershirt. Around his waist was a dirty leather flight jacket above a pair of olive cargo pants. "Have you ever hear that saying? The one where it says, 'two wrongs don't make an okay'? I guess you could say that's another reason I got into this business." He kept a light smile the whole time.

When he finished speaking he stood up, "Well I guess we should keep going. We've got a little more land to cover before sun-down."

Liam looked back at her out of the corner of his eye, "That songs got something strange about it." He muttered, and looked back ahead. He'd heard it somewhere, but the way she hummed it threw him off.

As he walked he heard some loud branches snap, and some grunting. As soon as he head them he dropped to a crouch, and motioned for Shane to do the same. "Did you hear that? Sounds big." He muttered under his breath at her.

Liam nodded, and took a few steps back and ducked behind a fallen tree. In the clearing was a large dead Owlbear, and something even larger was eating it. Owlbears where one of the more ferocious things in this neck of the forest. What would have killed it with such ease?

"I can't see it. What do you see?" He asked quietly.

Liam nodded, and started to turn to retreat when a stick snapped under his feet. He slowly looked over at Shane, and mouthed -I'm sorry-. The Owlbear corpse smashed through the trees and a low level demon roared loudly at them, "I hear you, Banishers!"

Liam looked at her and winked, "I've probably got a little more running stamina than you, I've got it covered. You run back to the caves and get help." He said, nodding. With that he took off, running straight through the woods. The demon howled and threw a log at him. THe log blocked the path Liam was going to take.

"Change of plans, he's a hurler. It'll be easier if we get in close!" Liam was suggesting that fighting it was their best option.

The demon glanced over at Shane was, and frowned. He was slightly offended by her words. Once he'd dealt with the man, he'd make sure she'd wish she had died. The demon turned back to Liam, and was struck directly in the face by fist. The demon was large, but rather hunch over and low to the ground.

It stumbled and fell to it's knees. Liam went to hit it again, but it swiped him aside. He hit a tree, and groaned before falling to his knees. The wards that were placed on him during the ceremony allowed him to take substantially more physical damage.

The demon swiped at her after he recovered, and as he did, Liam ducked under it and delivered an uppercut to the demon's jaw. It stumbled and dropped to it's stomach. Being such a weak demon, it was already out cold. He stood near it, and motioned for her to come up to it.

"Put two thumbs on it." He said, gesturing to it's back.

Laim smiled, "Thanks. Right back atcha." He chuckled. The demon started to disintegrate, and she might feel tingling go up her arms as any of it's remaining energy became hers. If she took to much though, she may be up all night with all of that excess energy.

A man dressed as a pilot spoke from where he was meditating, "I hope you didn't just take that ward, pal." He asked down to the person who he believed to have lessened the spiritual barrier into the area.

"You're gonna need to put that back." He added, opening one eye to see who it was. Didn't look to powerful, but looks are always deceiving. Demon was already off of the list, because demons don't come this way due to the wards. Even if they did, they'd be burnt to a crisp once the got to the inner area.

The man smiled, "It's for keeping demons out of the area. It used to be a pretty popular spot, but now it's been reclaimed for mankind." He said, looking around through his one open eye.

"Now, if you'd put it back? You're making the area's energy fluctuate."

The man blinked a few times, "Of course, and you haven't?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. Is this guy for real? Never seen a demon?

He pulled his legs out of the criss-cross-applesauce position he was in, and let them dangle down off of the ledge. He'd been spending too much time out here, and wasn't used to meeting people who'd honestly never seen a demon.

The man blinked a few more times, "Uh, I can just conjure up a demon." He said, hopping down onto the path. He had a long orange scarf around his neck that hung down to his waist.

"I could try and attract one I guess." He muttered.

The man shrugged, "Alright, hold on." He slowly moved into a wide stance, and breathed in calmly. His eyes glimmered a light blue, and he slowly closed them to concentrate more. The canyon resonated with a soft ringing sound that steadily pulsed. He placed one hand ont he center of his chest, and pointed two fingers up.

A blue fireball erupted from his fingertips, and flew up into the air where it exploded. The man dropped to his knees for a second, and then stood back up, "Well, a demon'll probably be here in a second." He said, shrugging. He scanned the skies while he spoke.

The man smiled, "What's your name? I'm Liam, Liam Terry." He said, holding out his right hand. A strange marking traced from the tip of his thumb to his wrist. It looked like nerves.

After he'd heard the man's name he opened his mouth to say something else, but a loud shout came from above.

A large grey man stood on the path up the hill, "I've come for you, banisher." Four more arms seemed to come from behind the demon and slide into place beneath the top set. Liam got into a more aggressive stance, and his hands filled with blue fire.

"This is where it gets exciting." He said, smiling.

The demon grinned, "Oh, and who's this precious human?" it chuckled, allowing any projectiles to bounce off of him harmlessly. "I'll show you how to throw stones, boy." The demon laughed. Two of his hands dug into the cliffside and tore a huge boulder out of the rock. He tossed it effortlessly at the two.

Liam hopped to the side and pressed himself against the canyon wall.
