Lillea chuckled, "You are certainly an interesting character, one of the most amusing I've come across. But your suggestion is a reasonable one," She placed her hand on the wound, eyes closing momentarily as she stitched the skin and sinew together. The twin pinpricks disappeared, leaving only blood without a source. Her eyes opened, the brightness in her gaze unchanged, "You certainly did a number on her, I suppose I DID pull you out a bit early. However, you still haven't answered my question...will you continue to pursue her? Because now that she is perfectly capable of defending herself, I shall go about my business if you choose to. Frankly, I don't need to know your bout with the woman, I just can't stand seeing the helpless being pursued." Her eyes narrowed with unpleasant memories.

Lillea chuckled, "You won't have any trouble finding such a female, I assure you. But at any rate, I wish you luck in your hunt." She bowed slightly from the waist, hands at her sides, hinting at some sort of military training. "It was certainly a pleasure Cyrus, and I wish you luck with this one, although I don't think you'll have much trouble." She grinned and retreated to her seclusion, alone, and hidden once more.

Lillea stiffened at the sight of Kroger and his men, and quickly pulled the military cap low over her eyes. She cursed under her breath and wished she had found something else to wear, surely he would recognize her while she still wore the black sleeveless shirt, camo pants and heavy military-issue boots. It would be impossible to spot her. In her head she cursed her stupidity, but on the outside her face remained a calm, neutral mask, her fingers drumming on the table idly as she struggled to remain unnoticed.

Lillea shrank down in her seat, trying to avoid his calculating gaze. Her fingers continued to drum against the woodwork of her table, beating out an insistent, anxious rhythm. She wasn't sure if word of her had come to Kroger's ears, but she wasn't too hopeful, news traveled fast within the service.

Lillea gave an audible snort, Kroger wasn't a true officer. He was only a fool. Even after just a few minutes of watching him, she could see that he was the sort who didn't remotely care about his duty, or what he was fighting for. A disgrace. She could not reprimand him, however, how could she even think such things. What she had done was far worse than simply being an imbecile.

Lillea raised an eyebrow, "I'm not one to stereotype, I don't have that particular luxury. However, the fact that you are military makes me uneasy, but I shall keep my reasons to myself."She leaned back in the chair, propping her black, military-issue boots on the table, "But no, you aren't the first mercenary I've seen, however young I may appear."

Lillea crossed her bare, sinewy arms, "Contrary to what you might think, I HAVE heard of you, but I'm not one to run up to you, waving a gun I obviously don't know how to use, and spit out empty threats," she shrugged, "I was never one for theatrics."

Lillea laughed aloud, "I said I'd HEARD of you. Not that I was a part of your realm, although I have hidden there when it suited me. I won't make a fool of myself by guessing the names of your former service and son. Even if I was a part of your world, such trivial matters would not interest me." She knew that her attitude was bordering on insolent, but this pompous windbag did not frighten her in the least, much less command even the tiniest bit of respect from her.

Lillea hissed under her breath, and one could almost see the serpentine tongue flick from betwixt her teeth. His suggestion that she was even remotely military had angered her, although she knew that his suspicion was justified, after all, she hadn't exactly bowed gracefully and offered him the seat opposite her. "I will never become one of those 'stuck up military types' and if you even knew half of what I had suffered at their hands, you wouldn't even suggest such a thing. You would also understand my hostility towards you..." she murmured, loud enough for only Kroger to hear.

Lillea did not flinch at his outburst, but merely regarded him with a calm, level gaze. "I understand that you have suffered...but apparently you do not understand that there are others who have suffered just as much, or greater than you. In different ways perhaps, but nonetheless painful." Her eyes hardened as she leaned forward, "I won't tell you my life story, but I will say that I too have felt the pain of being forced into the military as a child, to fight my own people. I can say that I have seen my mother taken from me, and I have felt the guilt that comes from her blood being on MY hands. You have suffered Kroger Jeru ibn Haggai, but at least you can call yourself human, and have the pride of man, and the friendship of man to carry you ever-forward."

Lillea smiled bitterly, "Your son is wise. I have met some who have joined the military of their own free will, few haven't regretted their decision. I would suggest that you don't push him." Her head tilted, "Strigoi Vui...I haven't come across many of your breed, although the ones I did were more than the life-draining demons many make them out to be. I found them to be very interesting conversation, and civilized...unlike some others I've met."

Lillea She chuckled and leaned back in her seat, becoming more relaxed, "Ever since I...ahem, liberated myself from the service, I've dropped unneeded formality." She held out a hand, "I am Lillea Kashniith an Teno Kah, but I prefer Lillea to my full name, as most people trip on unfamiliar tongues." A smile passed across her face.

Lillea laughed and took his hand, shaking it warmly, "Bastard...an interesting choice. I've seen Izumi here a few times, he seems decent enough, if a little eccentric at times. I think I may have seen you here on my last visit, although I was rather...preoccupied at the time." her eyes grew clouded and she nearly flinched as she recalled yesterday's events.

Lillea drummed her fingers on the table, a playful smile on the corner of her mouth, "I might have been inclined to like him, except I was taken back to his headquarters and tortured...not a pleasant experience for either party I'm afraid. Although, the fact that I was once employed in that same army didn't exactly mean we would start out as the best of friends." She sighed and rubbed at her aching temples, "For some reason they failed to tell me, I was released, although I doubt I'll be so lucky if they catch hold of me again. Unfortunately, if they bring Seventh along, I don't think I'll be able to stop myself from getting involved."

Lillea held up a hand, "I thank you for such a generous offer, but I'm afraid I can't accept. I would dishonor my family by not defending myself...an odd tradition in my opinion, but it is what I was told as a child, and it is how I live. I've been called proud and arrogant because of it, but I try to live according to the ancient ways of my people. Truly, your help is appreciated." She chuckled slightly, "I didn't know you'd taken such a shine to me. However, if there is ever a way I can assist you, let me know."

Lillea nodded, "I understand. I've had experiences with betrayal on more than one occasion." She rose from her chair, executing a fluid bow from the waist, "It has been a pleasure Kroger Haggai, but for now, I must depart. Perhaps we shall meet again?"

Lillea nodded and turned, making her way silently from the tavern and into the darkness of the woods beyond.

Lillea slipped into the tavern and chose an unnoccupied table near the back. Her young, fine-boned face was taught with worry as she took her seat and crossed her legs under the table. Her fingers drummed anxiously on the table as she attempted to blend into the shadows, the military cap pulled low over her eyes.

Lillea let out a small sigh as she allowed herself to relax. The tavern was not yet infested by soldiers, as it had been her last few visits. She could not yet put herself totally at ease, as she had more to worry about than soldiers. This place had proved hazardous to her health on numerous occasions.
