A former starship captain searching for new purpose
Marcus is an introspective individual. After a traumatic incident transformed his life sometime ago he became depressed and solemn. He keeps to himself in public, often reflecting on his life lived and lost.
When he is not catatonic, however, Marcus is an extremely intelligent and sociable individual. Having formerly been the captain of a powerful starship, he is a natural born leader and strategist. Guided by a strong moral code, he uses these abilities only for the good of life, never for glory and military conquest. He is loyal to his friends, and would not dare to let someone down.
Standard equipment, pistol.
Marcus was born on Earth to an average, loving family. Entering the school system, he quickly stood out as a shining example of a good student. While his friends and family pushed him to go to enroll at a university, Marcus instead chose to enroll in the officer's academy, dreaming of exploring the universe. Once again, Marcus stood out to his instructors as both a great officer and wonderful human. After a brief 3 years, he was given command of a starship in the Earth Corp Navy, the Interpreter, and tasked with exploring the far reaches of the solar system.
Approximately a year after leaving Earth, the Interpreter was subject to an unknown incident on the fringes of known space. All communications with the ship were lost, and it was presumed destroyed; the crew killed. 2 years after its disappearance the Interpreter limped back to dock. The ship's AI had guided it back to port while Marcus, the only survivor, was in cryostasis. Following this, Marcus retired from the military. He hasn't been seen since.
