Sometimes, he hated his life, suspicious that the world had it in for him, and other times... other times he knew. Because seriously, there was no way his luck was this bad. There was no way that robbers just turned up like that, not on the one day that he was actually prancing around in his idiot suit rather than skulking on a bus or trying once again to get into college.

It just wasn't fair. Why did things like this always end up happening to him? He didn't actually want to be here. Hell, he hadn't wanted to spend his afternoon playing magic-hovercraft to some moron who had managed to climb about a million stories up and then realise (surprise surprise) that they couldn't get down, and he certainly hadn't wanted to transport said moron to the hospital when they fainted on him. Some people had no sense of gratitude. Did she not realise how hard it was for him to carry her dead weight conventionally, let alone use his powers to shift her fat arse?

Needless to say, he was in something of a bad mood, having been waiting in the cold for the better part of an hour while the EMT's finally took notice of his repeated crank calls to their department, demanding they come outside and get the body he'd left for them to tend to (wrapped in his cloak to stop her getting cold, the ungrateful bitch), and now they were getting robbed?!

Typical.

With a heavy sigh, Levitas swept out of the shadows and moved to follow the surprisingly unconcerned robber. Maybe he'd give up easily? For some reason, he doubted it.

"Look, can you just- not? Surely there are better places to rob than a hospital. A charity." His voice came out as a growl, altered by the metallic red snout of the mask he wore. Blood red eyes narrowed behind the dragon's face. "Go rob a Wallmart or something, they deserve it."

He had no doubts that he looked like a complete idiot, dressed in smooth red and gold from head to toe, armoured just enough to protect him but still free enough to move. The bright, twin dragons twining into a stylised ouroboros caught the light slightly as he moved, making him want to wince; he really, truly hated his costume, but there was no denying it served its purpose in keeping him safe.

"Look, I've had a really crappy day, and these nurses? They don't get paid enough to deal with your shit. If you want to rob drugs, then rob a drug company, not a hospital. They hardly carry anything anyway, and what they do carry is probably covered in superbugs or cooties or whatever."

He wanted nothing more than to go home, have a bath, and maybe heat up a lasagne before going to sleep for the next ten thousand years, and yet here he was, trying to dissuade some dickweed from robbing a hospital. Fabulous.

Levitas heaved another, more aggravated sigh, before gesturing for Lilly to go as directed. There was no point in having someone stuffed in the middle of this if it turned into a fight. Really, he should have just let the creep rob what he wanted and leave, but even he drew the line at people who waved guns around hospital waiting rooms. It was just damn rude, and there were kids here.

"Go on, do as the nice man says. And the rest of you, please stop staring and get the hell out of here?"

Human nature: apparently it meant you stared at the man with the gun, rather than showing some basic self preservation and running like fuck. Then again... he really couldn't talk, now could he? God, he wanted to go home.

"Levitas," he said, already weary of this whole stupid game. He didn't want to be doing this, didn't want to feel obliged to help people who would, like as not, be telling the Daily Mail that he'd raped their kneecaps (or whatever) in the morning. He'd bet his life at at least one of the ungrateful bastards he'd just educated in self preservation would be on Opra in the near future claiming mental trauma from his face or something.

He wasn't anywhere close to seven feet tall, he was barely brushing six, but if there was one thing Levitas had in spades, it was stupidity. Oh, he knew he should leave, he knew that it wasn't his problem, but he couldn't. In the back of his mind, an arrogant little girl was tearing him down for wanting to save himself, and these people, these horrible, horrible people would suffer if he didn't do something. It wasn't fair. He was too old to feel compelled to act against his better judgement, and yet it still happened time and time again.

"You can get your drugs somewhere else. I don't want to fight you."

Very true, and he really wanted to leave, too, but if he left, the nurse (who he hoped had shown a scrap of sense and locked herself and her patients inside the panic room and was now calmly waiting for the police to arrive), and the other unfortunates here would end up dealing with the bastard with a gun.

On that topic...

Vivid red eyes skimmed towards the weapon before they slipped closed, opening again somehow changed. The inner barrel of the gun began to heat, warping silently. "Look," Levitas explained, his voice just a little thicker than it had been before, even through the mask. "Why don't we both leave? I'm not going to stop you if you rob a drug company or a superstore. Quite frankly, they can afford it."

I'd love to. Really, you have no idea how badly I want to be watching my microwave right now. Blowing out a hot breath, Levitas slowly shook his head. "I'm sorry, but I can't do that." The nurse was gone, and didn't appear to be coming back, and from the sounds of it, the hospital had shut down in a radius around them. The police would arrive soon (and wouldn't that be fun? They were more likely to shoot him than the bloody criminal), so all he really had to do was stall for a few more minutes and then run like hell when the time came.

"I can't just let you steal drugs from a hospital. Not like this." Not when I've already opened my big mouth. Not when people have already seen me.

Oh god, why did they always go for the face? Needless to say, Levitas slung himself backwards when the foot (bloody foot!) came flying at his head, but no amount of gymnastic skill could stop his ungraceful tumble over the wheelchair he hadn't actually factored in as being behind him.

He didn't quite hit the floor, but his tumble wasn't particularly pretty, and when he rolled back to his feet his shoulder was throbbing and there was a nasty, dented sort of feeling lurking around his thigh. For some reason, it was always the parts that the armour didn't protect that ended up getting caught on things.

He didn't talk, because talking and fighting at the same time was stupid, so instead he focussed all of his attention on his assailant's left hand, willing it to heat up.
