Nid'Ridras

The man seems to be fairly attractive and normal. Oh well.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Order Knight

Description

Image

The man by the name of Nid'ridras, as he is simply known, appears to be your average lower class nobleman. He goes by Nid at times, though prefers his whole name be used. His age would appear to be roughly in his mid twenties, though he seldom speaks of it, simply claiming that he is likely much older than people expect.

He is Human, for all intensive purposes, likely from one of the Western Kingdoms of mankind, based on his skin coloration and accent, which would be described as vaguely Scottish, by the locals. He does not speak of his parents, though they are reportedly of high prestige among some nobles or other.

His hair is long and black, being just past his shoulders. Interestingly, it's soft to the touch being stroked through, but, if rubbed the wrong way, would feel coarse and rough. The hair on the rest of his body was much the same- though he had considerably less in most other places, it held the same properties. The eyes of the man were a striking shade of red, deep and vibrant, contrasting the normal black pupils and white sclera. Occasionally, his pupils might dilate or change briefly into slits, but this is not a normal occurrence.

Nid'Ridras' body could be considered a medium build. He is six-foot-two, and roughly two hundred pounds. He has a fair bit of muscle mass, but his strong suit is his ability to move, which is fairly quick for his size. Most of his height comes from his legs, and as a result that is where much of his strength is. He excels in hand to hand combat however, proving that strength is not entirely deciding in a fight. The voice that this man has would be called soothing, by most. It is soft, yet deep, his pronunciation smooth and light, pronouncing even hard letters with a flowing dexterity of the tongue.

Beneath his clothing, he has a few tattoos here and there on his body- wings on the backs of his legs, flames on his back, and a long string of archaic letters on his right arm. He has no visible scars, as of yet.

The true form of Nid'Ridras is that of a "Tharoone Virianrath" or Deeps Dragon. Deeps Dragons are most commonly known to reside, naturally, far beneath the crust of the earth. Due to the nature of the caverns that they live in, their forms tend to grow or shrink depending on how much room they need, or how much food is readily available. The more gluttonous they can afford to be and the more room there is, the larger a Deeps Dragon is likely to be. Nid'Ridras generally takes a nearly humanoid size- being ten feet tall, by comparison to some of the larger ones. The transformation process is of course very painful, and so it is seldom taken lightly.

In his Draconic form, he is covered in armor-like black scales, which reflect light- and most magic, naturally. His body likewise has a number of bony horns sticking out here and there, making him generally dangerous to touch. Similar to his hair in human form, the scales are very smooth to the touch rubbing down- going up is likely to shed some skin.

One ability that he uses now and again is to take only partial aspects of his Dragon form- scaled skin, talons for fingers, wings- whatever he pleases. Maintaining these in a humanoid form takes extreme effort however, and so he usually goes all or nothing.

So begins...

Nid'Ridras gives a more genuine feeling smile as she backs away from him; he had in some small way won a contest, taking the superiority given to him. Seeing of course that she did not want him any closer, he stays his ground and places his hands unassumingly at his sides. "Ah, of course," he says in a soft, friendly tone. "I remember days where one could wander the world with no fear of banditry." Looking to the trees about them, he takes a deep breath.

Having finally broken eye contact, it would feel as if a great weight was lifted off of Briena's shoulders, if she had noticed it to begin with. The intensity of his gaze was taken away from her as he instead graced a nearby tree with his eyes; which seemed, perhaps a trick of the dark, to flicker as if they were living flame. "I am simply relaxing. I have not been in the area for many months, and on my way back to town I thought to sit in a tree and enjoy my last taste of freedom and the wilderness. It is a cool night, after all, and one must appreciate the small things." As before, his every word seemed laced with a sweet tinge of an addictive narcotic, pulling on the minds of any who decided to pay him the utmost attention. It could have been intentional, or mayhaps it was a natural mechanism. Either way, Nid'Ridras either did not care or did not notice what, if any effect it was having.

The transformation went without much notice from Nid'Radras. Indeed, the tree that had gained his attention still seemed to captivate his eyes for a few moments longer before he returns his gaze to see that, where once a woman had been, now was a horse.

If he was surprised by the transformation, he didn't show it, though a barely perceptible change could be noted on his expression, somewhat intrigued, or intensified. It was difficult to say. When he spoke however, it was laced with the usual warm honey. "I'm not usually one to give company to animals," he reflects idly. "I wondered what your aura foretold. A Shapeshifter," he goes on, raising one of his hands to stroke his chin in curiosity. She might note at that point his hands were uncovered, the soft, long digits terminating in well-kept fingernails, though somewhat longer than most men might keep their own.

"And you can still talk," Nid'Ridras adds, his smile growing somewhat. "I am impressed. A fair amount of skill you have, to be so quick and precise, yet retain your verbal functions." A chuckle trickles out of him, like a hot spring pool bubbling up. "There are a select few in the Old Order that had abilities such as that, and, alas, they are all gone." He did not elaborate on his meaning, nor did he show any signs of sadness or happiness at the mention; for all intensive purposes it was a mere conversational anecdote.

The setting changes from The Hidden Glen to Gambit's Bar

Nid'Ridras fortuitously enters the bar a mere few minutes after Briena, or as he saw it, a Cougar with a curiously familiar aura. Disregarding it for now, after having stepped into the comparative cool of the bar, Nid'Ridras decides to pull his red cloak somewhat tighter about himself; it was a bit chilly for his tastes, even with the fire roaring nearby and the ninety-plus temperatures outside. Without so much as a glance to the rest of the patrons, Nid'Ridras makes his way to the nearest chair and settles himself down, relaxing utterly with his head thrown back and his limbs splayed out.

Nid'Ridras peeks one eye open to peer at the growling cougar, which seemed for a moment to have been growling at him. Or perhaps he was imagining it? It did seem to be keeping attention to him. Stretching somewhat, he speaks aloud, particularly to the cougar as if it could understand him. "I've already eaten tonight good pet, but if you keep that up I might find some room in my belly for you." It was said in a deep, soft voice that utterly drew the attention of anyone who listened to his words, yet lazily and laid-back at the same time. He seemed drained and sleepy, at the time, to put it mildly. After saying his piece he closes his eyes once again, though kept note of others that seemed to notice him.

Nid'Ridras' attention had been brought to the Cougar now however, the familiarity of which was tugging on his senses. Besides, if it was in the slightest bit sentient, he might enjoy toying with it. Indeed, he was just about to make a comment when a female voice from across the room finds its way to his ears. "Is that right," he asks decidedly, sitting up enough to peek an eye open at Mileena. "Usually animals aren't foolish enough to be openly displeased with my presence so readily." Tilting his head, Nid'Ridras felt a slight tangent coming on. "Furthermore, I came in here in a posture of complete relaxation and peace. And if I recall proper, I was in a similar mood the last time I felt this presence." The relaxation was slowly dripping away from him as he thought more about the familiarity, and how he was being openly challenged on two fronts now. The arrival of some new something-or-other didn't concern him much for the moment, though he naturally took note of its appearance.

Nid'Ridras had noticed the fluxuation in energy as well, directing his attention towards what now appeared to be Briena, and the man who was wandering towards her. "This certainly is a bar," he says only somewhat under his breath before standing up. He had decided not to respond to Mileena this time; he had cowed her as easily as he expected to, though perhaps it would merit an apology later. For now, he was interested in pestering the woman who'd ruined his relaxation. Making his way casually towards Briena and Rein, he keeps his eyes on the shadow, where he could see rather easily considering his lineage.

Nid'Ridras simply grins as the woman acknowledges him. Oh, he'd have his fun eventually. Shifting his bright, red eyes instead to Rein as he speaks towards him, the smile shifts to something more genuine. Placing his left hand to his right shoulder, he bows while making an elaborate gesture of welcome with his free hand. "I am Nid'Ridras," he says, his voice flowing entrancingly. "An acquaintance of the good Lady here."

Nid'Ridras chuckles merrily, the sound as warm and welcoming as a trickling hot-spring. "I met her in a clearing of the woods a mere few days ago," he says, righting himself and fiddling with one of the brooches on his cloak. "We spoke for a few minutes before she turned into a horse and ran away. Seemed to find my presence disconcerting," he says, with a question on his bold tone as he looks towards Briena, the grin returned to his lips.

Nid'Ridras looks back to Rein, a quizzical expression gracing his features. "Plenty, I'm sure. Pertaining to what I've just said though? I told you everything that I know of. Of course, the good Lady was being as mischevious and careful as she is now, so I'm sure she can enlighten both of us," he goes on, his flowing voice carrying the hint of amusement now. He could tell she had a wound, after all he'd seen her walk in, but he didn't rightly care. One did not lightly slight Nid'Ridras without a slight back.

Nid'Ridras doesn't change his expression or stance, even hearing the presumed truth from Briena; he was of the mindset that he should always be trusted, even if he did have ulterior motives. Interjecting between Rein and Briena, he adds once more to the conversation. "Fair enough. You can make up the transgression another time, then. For now, I will go someplace more peaceful, where I am less likely to be glared and growled at by passing shapeshifters." He still sounded quite amused, as he bows in farewell, once again carrying an elaborate gesture, but in the opposite of how he had greeted himself.

Seeing that Briena had- again- departed with not even a farewell, Nid'Ridras simply shrugs and makes his way towards the door, pausing as he sees that Mileena has stayed long enough to hold it for him. Allowing a smile to grace his lips, he places a hand on the door to hold it himself. "Why, thank you," he responds cooly, his tone ernest sounding. "My apologies if I offended you earlier. Perhaps we can talk sometime," he offers, giving the woman a more dashing smile before continuing on his way out.

Nid'Ridras steps through the door of the bar quietly, letting the door shut behind him with a somewhat more perceptible 'Click.' His deep red eyes were peering about the room as he slowly shifted his head from right to left. A smirk adorned his lips as he found the bar to be mostly empty; a couple of young men and a dark skinned woman were the only ones he could see in the room at the time being. The woman though, she had some kind of aura that intrigued him more than the fairly normal ones of the two men. Well, normal for around here, at any rate.

With little preamble the man makes his way towards the bar counter, the red cloak draped over his shoulders flowing in the faint breeze of the displaced air in his passing. That was normal for him, of course; he always walked with a fluid grace that belied his natural intentions. Finding himself a seat not more than two spaces away from Taria, he settles down and begins tapping an order into the machine; he hated the damn things but it was better than the robots.

Throwing a glance in her direction, Nid'Ridras clears his throat to find her attention before uttering a simple, "Hello."

Nid'Ridras laughs deeply, a silky noise that seemed to have an effect of drawing in anyone who might pay attention to it. His voice was much the same, practically dripping with warmth. "Well, you are cutting right to the chase, aren't you," he wonders aloud, his deep, blood red eyes fixing onto the woman's own.

Rather than look away to look at the drink brought to him, he turns his head more to give a better look at his facial features; he looked like his skin was very smooth, if one could tell just from looking. "I can't help but say the same about you, so perhaps you would kindly clue me in first. Mayhaps it is simply a meshing of character?" Following his words, Nid'Ridras' lips curl up into a more jovial smirk. "But before all that, allow me to introduce myself... I am Nid'Ridras." Without taking his eyes from Taria's own, he bows his head slightly.

Nid'Ridras takes the offered hand after a bare moments hesitation, though his expression doesn't break. His hand, covered in a gauntlet as it was, still managed to feel quite warm. Rather than shake it though, having moved closer to take the hand anyway, he stoops forward to place his lips gently to her hand; as might be expected his lips were very soft, and he still managed to keep eye contact. "A pleasure, Taria," he decides as he lets go.

Grabbing for his drink (rather elegantly, considering he was still locked in the staring contest,) he continues in the smooth, drawing voice. "It seems we are. I can tell by looking at you, you're not as human as you might like one to think. And what lovely talons you have," he adds, his fingers drifting gently over the blunt side of the woman's claws.

"Depends on your definition of Human I suppose," Nid'Ridras answers dubiously. "But no. By conventional knowledge I am far from Human. I just choose this form because I feel it suits my smooth charms." His grin grows somewhat on that note, before he begins to shift into a much more relaxed posture, leaning his arm onto the counter while he sips the drink he'd ordered- a honey meade, if anyone was paying attention- with the other hand. Never breaking that eye contact, as for once Nid'Ridras had found someone who would dare to enter the contest of wills without faltering. In a way, he was taking a part of the woman's soul, but it wouldn't help him discern what she was.

"So, the clawed digits, curious eyes and the will to contend with the likes of myself without flinching... much." He had noticed her displeasure at his touch. "I would assume you to be either of a vampiric influence, or Demonic. And you don't seem much like you're interested in sucking my blood," he adds with a satisfied smirk.

Nid'Ridras laughs deeply. "I should hope I am wiser than a mere lizard." Setting his glass back down, his smirk widens once again. "Though, sinister? Really, you scathe me so," he laments fakely. "And to say you are 'strongly bonded' to one like me... a smooth-talking prowler? My, perhaps you're not as powerful as I'd initially thought."

Tilting his head at her, as if questioning her resolve, he goes on. "So you are of a Demonic nature, that much is certain. Perhaps I'll be able to ferret what secrets you're keeping out of you before too long, hmmm?" Depending on how much attention she was paying to his voice or his eyes, Taria might notice that everything else was becoming just slightly hazy.

Nid'Ridras finds himself wandering through the door of Gambit's bar once again, draped in the usual deep red cloak which cascaded rather gracefully down his shoulders, ending just above his calves. And as usual the cloak hid his ornate armor, with the hood concealing his facial features for the most part, save for the silky black hair drifting over his chest.

Beneath the hood the dark red eyes of Nid'Ridras were glancing across the practically empty arrangement of seats; rather than usual he finds himself a place in the back of the room, a dark nearly unlit corner where he could rest easily. For the most part he didn't pay attention to the locals this time around, though he did take notes.

Nid'Ridras was, perhaps fortunately for Briena, located in an opposing corner. Having settled down with a sigh of complete contentment, he leans back in the booth and rather snuggly gets himself acquainted with the furniture. After making himself comfortable, Nid'Ridras grabs the candle in the middle of the table and begins toying with the flames, casting a dim shadow across his face every time the light flickered or his hand passed through it.

While entertaining himself in this manner he was still looking around the room, and eventually his gaze rests partially on Briena, who he noticed with some interest was watching him warily. A faint smile quirks onto his face, recalling their previous encounters. Ah, how amusing indeed.

Nid'Ridras would have been amused by Briena's apparent disgust if he could be more assured it was because of him; though his sensitive senses were hit extremely hard by the stench of rotting flesh that permeated the air. Considering his nature it made him more hungry than anything, but it was still sickening in a natural sort of way. Looking away from Briena (she had after all broken eye contact first, again,) he takes in the vision of the zombie walking into the bar.

That wasn't exactly something one saw every day. Much less one with the peculiar sense that Nid'Ridras was picking up from them. He could discern it was female, or may have been at one time, though that wasn't where the interest lay. It was a sense of familiarity, and at the same hatred. Still, it was worth taking note of.

Then a Demon Lord walks in, which was something of the cherry on top of the layered cake that was now Gambits. If that didn't settle the matter of Gambits being a hang-out for strange and powerful beings, well, there was probably an Angel or something just around the corner.
