Octavia (Tavi) Rose Sharp's Story

She considered what Steve was saying. This sounded too weird to be made up. So weird, he could actually be telling the truth. She was still skeptical though, and she was probably going to be skeptical until she saw that book. "So if it's cryptic and mistranslated, how do you know what to do? How can you be sure you're not doing the wrong thing?" She also wasn't too sure on the fact that he was human. He didn't really seem to have a grasp of social skills, but maybe he was just a recluse.

His mouth tugged down to a neutral expression, hovering on a frown. "I have studied and re-translated the book tirelessly from what initial writings I can track down. If I had everything in place I would have already spoken His name." His head turned to stare at her for a moment. "Will you help me?" he suddenly asked, "Not with any of the important tasks, but when I need syringes or medicine, will you help me acquire it? Through legal means of medical diagnosis." Ignoring the fact he was essentially asking her if she would lie about what sicknesses he had so he could get what he wanted.

He realized that was still against the law right? She could go to jail for this, and doctors and physicians had. He probably didn't. She sighed, thinking about it. She really didn't want to get in trouble for this, and he didn't want her help with any of the important stuff, even though she could probably hold her own if she had to. "Isn't it going to look a little suspicious if you're in the hospital all the time? Also you realize the hospital isn't cheap and you have to pay your bills for that medicine and equipment."

"These things yo have described do not appear to be problems for me," he answered cryptically, either meaning that it was her problem, or that it wasn't a problem. If his tone changed he might have been able to give emphasis on his words, but he rarely seemed to express anything. Then suddenly...

"If you want my advice, say no. Live a normal and mundane life. Marry a man of a similar economic level and attractiveness to you. Have one to three children, who will have a variety of illnesses, bad habits, mental issues or financial problems during their life until they can sustain themselves away from you. Then die of a commonly occurring sickness such as diabetes, with no meaningful achievements to your name and a legacy that will be forgotten two generations later."

The corners of his mouth tugged down and his tone actually took a sour note. "And if that is depressing to you, imagine how bad it must be to say yes."
