The Dead Set

Marionette-like people, or.. Perhaps people-like Marionettes.

a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by Rooster

Description

People made out of other things, false things. People go missing, then come back different, blank stares replace their once lively gazes, and their flesh, once warm and blushed, becomes pale and cold like porcelain. Though this is easily enough ignored.. Or hidden. Many prominent government and Military officials show signs of The set, if only a little bit.

The Rich, The Poor, The Law-Abiding, The Criminal.

All are welcome to complete the set.

Scarlet 'Bloody Dame' Jalleppa- The Crimson Clad Singer of The Tin-Pan McCoy, a party boat on Ol' Muddy. Scarlet is a Sultry jack of both trades, being a Soprano and Alto, as well as a charmer and.. A frequent user of 1920's Slang. Went missing April 5th 1925, reappeared October 16th, better than ever, but paler than ever, and cold.

Monty 'Big Six' Skelton- A zoot suited, pencil mustached, sharp sideburned, fedora wearing smuggler with a fancy for the M1911's. Thin, tall, but well known for being a dead-eye with his .45's, his name is 'Big Six' because of his strong-arming tactics in his bootlegging operations. You needed something smuggled anywhere you'd ask Skelton. Went missing June 17th 1925, reappeared November 29th, pale and cold.

Ilsa 'Le Loup' Krueger- The German, blonde haired, blue eyed 'Aryan' woman with a voluptuous frame wrapped in a trench coat of strong smelling black leather, leather gloves, a long black skirt, black boots and a black silk scarf. Nicknamed 'Le Loup' for various ramblings of countless mad, institutionalized French soldiers that had escaped her on the field during WW2, never ceasing to scream 'Le loup, le loup! Le femme de diable nous hante!'. Her canines are slightly sharper than normal women, and on full moons her eyes shift from blue to yellow. Went missing May 6th 1945, reappeared May 8th 1945, pale and cold.

Jack 'Jill' Nocta- What all crossdressers aspire to be, 'Jill' was born a feminine boy and he grew into a feminine man..-woman...thing, With a woman's delicate features on his face and narrow shoulders, with the right clothing he'd look like a flat-chested girl. But despite his fantasies Jill wears circular-apertured eye glasses, a white dress shirt tucked into his pants, a black waist-coat, a black leather belt with a golden buckle, black dress-pants, black socks and black leather dress shoes. Occasionally white gloves will cover his hands. Nocta's hair is black, wavy and long, reaching his shoulders before ending. His eyes are dark blue.

When he was growing, his adoptive parents believed that a feminine boy of his kind would face many "Sinful Temptations" and packed him up at Age 15, sending him to a Templar Monastery overlooking the Solinus Sea. Though raised by his parents and the Templars as a devout man of god, Jack was a logical boy and doubted the almighty's existence.. But after the events that transpired in the monastery it was hard no to believe in the darker beasts from the Templar's tales. Jack was practically a maid for the Monks and Templars, instructed to clean all unlocked chambers in the main building (Jack wondered why the almighty wouldn't just clean his 'own manuscripts'). The boy did as instructed, cleaning all the chambers, until one. The door was slightly cracked open and a feeling of dread came over him by even standing near it.. But if he didn't clean them all the Templars would beat him for his insolence..so.. He dared to enter. Inside only a few dark smudges remained, with the smell of burnt robes lingering. Before Jack could retreat he had stepped one foot inside of a sealing circle and quickly shielding his eye with his left arm and drawing back with the right half of his body, was half possessed. Jack's left arm, eye and leg are under demonic control, which, with quick acting from the merciful High-Chanter, were sealed with similar tattoo symbols than those on the ground within the chamber. One on his forearm, one on his shin and one under his left eye. Under huge amounts of stress, pain or under the effect of unholy magic, the binds are broken and the demonic ichor within him triggers a blood-lust and allows for the manipulation of unholy auras, vice versa, the seals placed by the Templars calms Jill and allows him to use Holy chants to dispel darkness.

After this event Jack was kept behind bars for years, under observation from Priests and Templars to evaluate the seal's dispelling power.

Jack Never went missing and.. He was always a rather cold and pale child.

So begins...

The Dead Set 's Jill left the hand extended, until he was certain the man would not be back a few minutes later to shake it. With a slightly shrug, he resolved in his mind that the man was just one to help once, or one that didn't socialize much. The same hand reached down and grasped the man's wrist of the hand that had previously had his.. Jill wasn't one for punishment.. He was almost against it.. But.. something deep down inside wanted to break that wrist so that it could never touch him like it did again. Jill placed his foot on the unconscious man's back, lifting the arm and supporting the wrist. With a sharp jerk downwards, a snap could be heard, the wrist shattering. The drunk sprung to life, screaming once more, in extreme pain, but the heel of Jill's dress shoe was brought down on his temple, rendering him unconscious again.

Snapping out of it, Jill gasps and looks around warily, gripping the wrist and dragging the man towards the door quickly, bumping tables and falling bottles as he went.

The Dead Set 's Jill wrenched open the door, situated the man sideways and with another placement of his shined dress shoes, pushes the unconscious, broken-wristed, drunkard out of Gambits with a powerful kick. He rolls down, away from the entrance, and crashes into the garbage cans outside of the bar, slop tipping off of their tops and splattering all over him. The feminine man sighed and shook his head, tssk'ing at the poor example of human life. He shuts the door and promptly returns to his bar-stool, rapping his fingers on the counter.

The Dead Set 's Jill's ears twitched at the slight noise in the silent bar, blank eyes glimmering over to Rosenna's form. He thought he had heard a plee for help, so he rose and moved over to the girl. Jill even walked like a woman, his form completely feminine, it was extremely easy to mistake him for a female and.. he just rolled with it. It was easier that way. "Hello, Miss, did you ask for help?"

The Dead Set 's Jill had moved a bit closer to hear her and..Smelled that she had gotten so drunk that she had passed out in that location. "Well, aren't you just a brewery... You can't do that sort of thing here. There are very evil people in this place that wouldn't hesitate to take advantage of you." He lectured her, eyes shooting back to the door where he had ejected a drunk that thought he was a pretty little flatchested woman to take advantage of.

"You can't move at all? At least try to stretch your muscles out."

The Dead Set 's Jill's face contorted slightly into a strained frown, the smell of Vodka off the girl very strong, enough to make his nose burn. "Smells like you had a few..Bottles.." He laughed nervously, not wanting to upset her, just trying to prod at her funnily. His face turned solemn once more. "I'm willing to help but ah.. Don't go spreading the word around, I like to mind my own business when I can." His right index finger moved to the strange golden symbol under his left eye, rubbing the tip across it, it began to glow and dissipated as quickly as it came. With a bow of his head, he pointed all five fingers at the girl and took a deep breath. "In the house of our Maker, the Sun, the Moon and the Holy blessed lands of Terra, my Father I invoke your name to cleanse the seeds of Desire and Sloth from this, your creation and hopeful vassal on this world."

His hand would glimmer like the symbol, which was now black on his face, a strange golden dust settling on Rosenna and vanishing. Her muscles would seem warm and suddenly become loose, painless and bendable.. But Jill grunted in pain and clasped his left eye shut, right hand extended with his head still bowed, now kneeling because of the pain. "Jill. Jill Nocta."

The Dead Set 's Jill sat up again, grunting again and laughing slightly, left eye still fastened tightly, the eyelid twitching every few seconds. He clasped his left hand over the eye to prevent her from seeing it, the holy symbol below the optic still pitch black and foreboding.. A voice pounded in the back of his head, each time it spoke a chill ran down his spine. It was low and cruel, whatever mouth it was spoken from.. wherever it was, was full of sharp teeth and frothing saliva. You can smell it on her can't you? It spoke clearly, muting most of the outside noise. Not just the drink.. The lust.. The SIN she sought to commit while intoxicated.. She's rife with temptation.. And so are you. One day when you're weak.. Snap.. You.. Her.. All of the people close will die, know that, Child.

Jill's one open eye gazed at Rosenna with a distressed, ragged look. "Totally fine, don't worry about me."

The Dead Set 's Jill managed a smile and shook his head, looking up at her with a joyful smile on his womanly face despite the excruciating pain he was going through. "I- Uhm..-" Pathetic, Freeloading bar-wench. Is that what it is to be morally correct, little Jack? Heal every waste of flesh meat-bag that drinks themselves into a stupor and grinds against anything that looks virile? Jill had paused when the voice in the back of his head spoke, for a good half of a minute as he looked at her. "No, really, It's fine.. It's what I do. It pays to be nice to others." He struggled to stand, but manged, supporting himself on the couch with his right hand, left behind his back as if he didn't trust it.

The Dead Set 's Jill's left hand moved over his eye again, the symbol gradually returning to it's Golden shimmer. At this point it was a light grey, not enough to hold back the voices, but at least the volume was decreased. Sir. Sir she calls you. She knows then. Perhaps you'll be her new plaything. Go ahead, be nice, get her drunk and let her hurt herself, then heal her again with your pretty little prayer and LET ME OUT. The last words boomed, sending Jill off balance despite his grip on the couch. For a moment he couldn't tell what direction was up or down, and he careened into a nearby couch, eyeglasses almost off of his face and long hair frizzled from the commotion. "Sir? Well, that's a first in these parts.."

The Dead Set 's Jill would be caught by the woman, be it because of the prayer enhancing her strength or just because of Jill's low weight, she would support him easily. One could even describe him as malnourished.. but only slightly. Prison food wasn't the best, when he got it. Eyes rolling in his head, he managed to clasp his left hand over the left eye again. Right into her arms, Jill. You might as well give in. The booming voice was more silent as the symbol turned white on his cheek. "Yes, Rosenna Rosen, something wrong?" The voice was rather calm for one that had just fell over...twice.

The Dead Set 's Jill sat back with a feminine huff, the symbol on his cheek now yellow but not quite golden. The voice still whispered, but it was inaudible to the womanly man. "No, really. It isn't because of that, I'm just a tad weak. Prison does that to you. Not a lot of food. Less in a Holy Asylum... Fasting is good for the soul apparently. Eheh..heh.." The laugh was weak and despite his attempt at humor it was a time of great suffering in his life.

The Dead Set 's Jill shook his head, a blush spreading across his face when he realized that she was clinging onto him rather intently. "Please, despite being imprisoned by those who have taken habits of accepting an taking advantage of charity, I don't like accepting food from people.. It just makes me uncomfortable. Besides, you need it. My prayer might have loosened your muscles and gotten rid of your hangover but it didn't put food in you. You'll starve to death if you don't eat soon.. The prayer has after-effects.. makes the person it effects content.. So some forget to eat.." The symbol gleamed gold once more, his right index finger pushing his glasses up the bridge of his nose again.

The Dead Set 's Jill sighed and looked down, seeing that no matter if he insisted the girl would insist back. "Okay, fine. You win. I don't care what it is, what you're having I suppose." Jill nodded, smiling, the blush fading slightly as she got further away. "It really was nothing, though. Just don't do it again, it's dangerous, like I said."

The Dead Set 's Jill peered at the food, gloved fingers locking together as he looked at it. He didn't really want to eat, but she had gotten food for him.. So morally he.. had to. His appearance, now that she had a clear mind, would be an odd one when she looked upon him, appearing as some sort of tom-boy, he wore dress pants, a dress shirt, shoes, a black waistcoat and his glasses, which supported themselves only on his nose and not his ears. "Thank you.." The womanly man said, only lacking breasts to achieve maximum femme-ness.

The Dead Set 's Jill laughed. "..Starving, actually. But.. Like I said, I don't like accepting food from people. You kinda.. leave me no choice, though, huh?" The dainty man leaned forward, peering at the plate with his burger on it. He was glad that the toppings were off to the side on the burger and only cheese and meat were between the patties.. He didn't like anything but those two. He soon found his mouth watering as another blush formed on his face. "Erm.."

The Dead Set 's Jill removed his gloves and set them on the table, taking his handkerchief out of his waist-coat and tying it around his neck like a bib. He lifted the burger and took a bite of the bread, meat and cheese, leaving the toppings off. It was a small bite, chewed and swallowed, followed by another and another despite his ravenous hunger, he still contained himself. "Beef up? I like looking like this.."

The Dead Set 's Jill had finished the burger, the fries and the milkshake, despite taking smaller bites than the woman. He patted his handkerchief against his sultry lips and smiled. "Thank you for your kindness.. But please, don't sleep here again. I have a room, upstairs. Nothing in it of mine, just what the Inn provided.." His hand dug into one of his waist-coat's pockets and produced a key. "Here. I'm pretty sure the doors are magically protected, so you need not worry about intruders. I'll knock if I need anything." Jill placed the key in her hand.

The Dead Set 's Jill stretched his arms as he descended Gambit's inn's stairs, hair a bit frizzy but being quickly remedied by the comb he ran through his long dark locks. He hummed a silent rhyme as he went, not noticing Myra right away in his sleepy daze. "Ugh..My head."

The Dead Set 's Jill was shocked by the Shapeshifter suddenly speaking to her again, only having met the creature once now, the feminine man looked over at her face, taking a moment to remember. "Oh, Hey Myra. I've got a bit of a headache, forgive me." He turned his head and cursed about being a do-gooder.

The Dead Set 's Jill rubbed his temples, grunting. "There was this random girl.. On the couch over there. She was so wasted and hung-over that she couldn't even move, so I decided to be a do-gooder and heal her, but my healing technique is..unique.. And it gave me a really nasty heachache after I did it." He looked up at her, blinking. "You've got a little something on your face."

The Dead Set 's Jill turned his face to the side and stuck his face into his elbow, letting out a choked, rasping cough before his glasses slid off of his nose and tumbled to the ground, making him look more feminine without the metal on. He couldn't see anything with his glasses, and he quickly fell to his knees, searching for them with his white-gloved hands. "Oh, dear.."
