Description
The Illiad Consortium is constantly moving. Because they currently maintain too small a population to properly settle and become a sovereign state within the universe, they instead claim that the ship they stay on, the Illiad, is instead the only legal property and everything within space is free game. The Illiad was the product of a troubled private venture to turn an old, rotten dreadnought into a more civilian or private design. However the project was quickly scrapped, the ship left floating in space, the private company cutting their losses on the project. The ship was soon commandeered by a small group of self proclaimed 'adventurers', who spent nearly their entire lives and everything they owned fixing up the broken ship. The same with their children and, to this generation, still being fixed and renovated. To this day it remains still partially broken, but a mighty vessel nonetheless, with half a kilometer thick shell of armor at its weakest points and almost double that in the frontal areas of the ship. The beast moved rather quickly despite its size, of course at a slower pace than other smaller ships but still a nice pace, due to its engines. The engines aboard the old ship didn't move the ship through space, they moved the space around the ship. An absolute marvel. The ship had most of it's larger weaponry dismantled or at least disabled during the private venture, leaving only about a couple operable weapons; hundreds of small laser turrets and dozens of medium laser turrets. The larger frontal and spinal mounted weapons have all but been disabled or deconstructed. The Illiad Consortium only travels through space now, collecting junk and only interacting with larger, more proper 'nations' if absolutely needed.
