Setting
Borron stadium is a massive, circular, arena-style structure where Com-Ball games are played during the game's appropriate season. Borron stadium houses a maximum capacity of one hundred million occupants. Needless to say, the crowd gets rather noisy during this highly competitive sport.
Combat Ball
Combat Ball is a rather simple sport. There are eleven players to a fielded team (each position contains reserves).
This team is devised of:
- The Captain - There is one Captain to a team. It is the Captain's task to start off the play with the mana ball in hand. They can either pass the ball on to a Messenger, or run the ball to the scoring zone, known as the Drop.
- The Messengers - There are four Messengers to a team. It is the task of the Messengers to receive the mana ball from their respective Captains, or to intercept it from the opposing side, and deliver it to the Drop. Messengers can pass the ball between themselves and the Captain.
- The Gladiators - There are four Gladiators to a team. Gladiators are equipped with kinetic bludgeons, blunt instruments with kinetic amplifiers attached to them, meant to knock the opposing players off of their feet with great force, allowing teammates to intercept the mana ball. Gladiators are not allowed to use their bludgeons to knock the ball into the Drop.
- The Guardians - There are two Guardians to a team. They serve as a counter to the Gladiators, armed with repulsive shields which negate the kinetic force applied by the Gladiators' bludgeons. Their task is to protect the Captain and Messengers from the Gladiators.
