The Year is 2012, five years back humans had finally realized that they aren't the only ones, the forensic evidence had finally proven this...and a few of the "beings" stepped out to reveal what they are, relieved at last that they did not have to hide it anymore. It was broadcasted all over the world when a woman sprouted white wings and a circle of light shone brightly overhead, more reports of these Beings started to appear. Dragon sightings, demons flipping the cameras off, Vampires turning into bats, Feys removing their glamour, elves talking in true elfish, something they did once before for a man named Tolkien, and making trees and plants do their bidding growing beautiful flowers and making sculptures as they removed their prosthetic human ears with smiles. Most hoped to be accepted by the humans....

It would not be so. Humans grew terrified of the powers they possessed! News casted murders in a new light that they once thought were cult to be vampires or demons, protests were rampant and the houses of these Beings set ablaze as riots broke out. A bill was passed, these beings were intruders, they were not human and therefore had no rights.

Kill them all!

That was the cry throughout the world as the murder of these creatures became a rallying point. Some humans disagreed with this outcry. Most accepted it.

The Beings did not go down easily though, they fought back with magic and speed fighting for their lives and the right to be "human".

Eventually a group was formed known simply as "Hunters." These people were trained in the ways to kill these creatures. Their leader caught one, a young woman with gossamer hair and six wings, each wing shimmering a different color. From interrogating her and finally dissecting her they were able to artificial reproduce the magic the Beings wield.

The hunters brought the war to a statement and in fact now seem to be winning. But they had angered the Overlord of the beings, the one where the Beings origins are. The woman they killed was his younger sister. He rallied the young and old Beings forming resistance groups across the world.

Kari let out a yawn as he tried to pay attention to his class, he had been up all night worrying...today was the exam, and not the paper kind... today was the day they checked each student to see if they were human or not. The wind blew wildly outside causing him to smile, it seemed to give him some comfort in his time of panic. His green thin ponytail fell over his shoulder as he looked at his notes and sighed, he had done it again it seemed, he had taken notes in Chinese...he just shrugged and he continued writing.

The loud speaker came on with a soft whine, "attention students will all the males head to the gym, their exam is about to begin, this is mandatory!" the voice told them. Kari sighed and got up as he packed his notebook, praying the group got his message. He saw his friends nudging each other and laughing, "Hey whatever gets out of this dumb class right?" they said before they noticed Kari, "Heh Kari do you think they will find any creatures here?" they asked him. He shrugged, and prayed they didn't.

They reached the room and formed into three lines where at the end were hunters and doctors in a secluded room. When it was his turn Kari wanted to throw up, his heart in his throat. "Kari Zephyr?" an old man with grey hair asked him. Kari walked up and entered the room, stripping out of his school uniform and to his boxers. The man smiled at him as he check his weight height, blood pressure and then took out a needle, "I need some blood. " he told him. Kari just nodded, and held out his arm. The man drew blood and placed it in a small handheld device. Kari wanted to faint, after several minutes, the hunter behind the doctor grew antsy. "Well what is the result?" he growled out loud. Kari wanted to run. "He is clean not a Being." the doctor told him rubbing one eye, almost like something was in it. Kari was relieved and almost sighed, but he held it in as he got dressed and ran out of the room and waited for his friend. He heard a girl scream as she was being dragged out of the school and looked away clenching his fists. His friends soon came back and headed home...they had no class afterwards and the class they were in had just finished.

By the ocean singing could be heard. A soft song, yet it was being carried further then one would think. It was a male voice, yet some could mistake it to being a females. It was a song he had heard from a human band once called Star One he believed...he was amazed they could come up with something that seemed to fit his mood.

"As we return to earth. Memories are haunting me
My strange rebirth, coming back to life
I remember the dark and how my friends set me free.
I sacrificed my life so they could survive.

There's something wrong with planet Earth.
We cannot reach our world.
Some strange device slowly emerged.
Can you hear their cries?
There's something wrong, what can we do?
We can't communicate
All systems fail, all power too.
We can't reply.

It must be unaware of the damage it's creating.
They are reaching out to the seven seas.
It's not with man they're communicating.
We're going back in time, back in history.

We shape life, we travel space
But we don't know the words to the songs of the ocean.

We survived the 'human race'
But we do not know the words to the songs of the ocean..." he finished singing and sighed as he let the waves crash into him his eyes closed as the mist coated his turquoise hair a faint smile on his face. He knew what day today was… Exam day, but he was not participating for obvious reasons, he’d have been found out and killed…or worse people would test if the eating a Mers flesh would grant immortality. He knew he’d need to come up with an excuse for why he was sick today…he’d figure that out later.

Santo panted for breath as he dodged yet another bullet, being careful it did not hit the man slung across his arm. He put the injured behind a crate as he turned to his pursuers. “Damn it…” he cursed, an odd thing for one of his kind to do. He rolled to the side as his sandy blond hair whipped past his sea green eyes. He fired back hearing someone fall to the ground, “Father in Heaven protect this black sheep from these corrupted Shepherds.” He muttered in a prayer. He stood back up his tan skin glistening with sweat as he saw more of the Hunters coming. He quickly went to his ally and tried to lift them up. “No… Saint leave… I won’t make it.” He muttered. Santo shook his head, “I will not let a fellow be left behind…” he whispered to the young fire spirit. “So young… to be born into this world now… if only his Guardian was not gone…” he thought to himself his eyes full of sadness. His mind flashed back to a time not too long ago, though few from that time were alive. If any… he kept on forgetting how short lived humans were. He shook his head pushing that to the back of his head.

He again tried to move his ally again, but again he resisted. “Saint. We need you to live on… Don’t let me hold you back…” he managed to whisper to him as he coughed up blood that quickly set on fire. “Please... I already know my flame is going to die out shortly…” he whispered as his fire hair burned blue… Santo knew his friend was near death, but he did not wish to believe it. “…We will reach the base soon, then I can get fire for you and give you proper healing…” he whispered softly. The fire spirit shook his head, “no… If you carry me we both will be killed.” He uttered, “At least here I can stall them for you. I can be of use.” He muttered. Santo shook his head, “I won’t leave you behind!” he roared. He heard Hunters and tried to move him, but he was pushed away. He saw his friend stand up his body blazing. “GO!” The Fire Spirit roared as fire sprang from his hand at the hunters and at Santo behind him forcing Santo to flee. Santo covered his eyes as he ran away clenching his fists.

He got the abandon church and slammed his hand on the back wall; wisps of light sprang from his finger tips and made the holy symbol as the wall parted into a vast cavern he ran into it as he followed the path laid out in front of him. The way behind him closed as he clutched his arm in pain, now starting to feel the injuries he had gotten as he arrived here. He was glad his arm wasn’t bleeding… that would have marked a trail to follow.

He soon reached a room in a cavern with light shining from crystals and vibrant flowers. His legs wobbled as he fell to the ground exhausted soon passing out. A necklace fell out of his shirt, it was a simple silver chain with a feather on it… the feather seemed to glimmer multi colors softly and soothingly.

Erika was swimming on the top of the water, her large black tail moving without real reason to be doing so. She enjoyed laying on the water, the sun and the waves were always nice, and plus out in the ocean, she didn't have to worry about anything. No hunters, no father, no betraying, no nothing. She dove down to see the wildlife in the waters, and saw that many were doing fine, blissfully unaware to anything she had to deal with.

After around ten minutes, she heard something, something that every time she heard it made her skin crawl. A motor. Perhaps the most annoying machine made by man, she always hated how the sound would disturb the animals and not to mention her. She looked up to where she heard the motor stop and happily saw it was a small one man fishing boat, so she knew that no hunters could be on it. They always traveled in packs like penguins.

She decided to make her way to the boat, and saw that he was chumming, which made the fish more agrivated, so after calming them down, she went up to the port side of the boat, and rested her head on the railing.

"You here to admire the animals?" She spoke, mscaring the crap out of the man. What are you doing here, merfreak!? This made her angry, but decided on a different approach. "I'm here for a kiss, wouldn't you like a kiss from a real life mermaid?" she raised her body further out of the water to show her cleavage.

The man seemed to be confused, but agreed reluctantly. As he was leaning in, she gave out a very loud shriek that made the man go stiff and fall back into his boat. "Don't worry, sweetheart. You should be fine in an hour or two. Let's just hope you don't get too far out to sea." She smiled at him before using her tail to break the motor off the boat and then pushed him out 700 yards out to sea, before waving goodbye.

This is how she worked, she didn't like humans that disgraced her waters, and she didn't have any problem showing it. After more swimming, she heard something else, but this time it was a voice, soft and gentle. She knew who it was, Symphony. As she liked to call him. His voice was always calming to hear. She decided to pay him a visit and after a short swim found him.

"You know that if you miss that exam, they will have reason to suspect you aren't human. But maybe that isn't all bad, I practically need a wheelchair on land, but you seem to enjoy land. What a conundrum indeed."

It was to a pack of rather raucous and testosterone driven men, Hunters, that Madeleine Zheng was greeted upon stepping aboard the aircraft. They stopped as soon as she entered, all eyes regarding the short girl intruding on their obviously sacred men time. She adjusted the collar of her lab coat and smiled at them. "Hello !" she chirped cheerily.
"Who the hell are you ?" spat one of the men. Probably the self-anointed manliest of the bunch. The kind that are annoying to deal with.
"I am to be your medic today, gentlemen. Call me Pigeon." She smiled warmly at the bunch of stone faced idiots scattered about the deck. Well, technically she wasn't supposed to be medic for this squad. The medic actually assigned to this mission was, frankly, downright incompetent. And she was itching to get out and watch some action. "If I'm not mistaken, we're about to take off so I'll take my seat. Excuse me."

As soon as they all buckled down, they started down the runway and were up in the air in a couple minutes. The destination was undisclosed to her, as was the objective and even the target. She was not officially supposed to be there, after all. Her companions were also still suspicious of her. Reasonably so, what person her age would be a full-fledged medic ? Oh, but she was a lot more than that and it was all because she had worked at it all her life. Medical studies had been with her since birth.

One man in particular was giving her a rather dark stare. "What's that ?" He growled at her, jerking his head in indication of the briefcase that she kept by her feet. "Trauma kit." She replied. "Kind of important."
He wasn't happy with her short, carefree answer. "And that?" He pushed, now indicating a large oblong case that she was holding in her lap.
She smiled. Pigeon "the medic" wasn't quite so amazing without this piece. "This," she tapped the case "is my surgical kit. Kind of important. You know, if you happen to be dying or something." She let him to wonder about what kind of knives and bone saws would go into that huge case.

He stopped bothering her after that. Or maybe he was just too slow to string together the right words. In any case, they soon arrived at their target destination and the Hunters filed out into a field. She let them pass her on their way out so that she could nick one of the leftover headsets. Adjusting it to fit her relatively smaller head, Pigeon headed out into the sunlit day.
They departed from the landing site on foot towards a small town. The group separated into ones and twos and stopped before individual entrances into the town. From what she could gather on her headset, there was information that had come in prior to their departure outlining the whereabouts of a particular non-human life form. The tailing agent was now relaying more specific information and the whole team started in.

Pigeon trailed behind the lot, scanning the rooftops. She picked out a central building, one of the tallest, and broke off from the group. A few minutes of climbing the fire escape stairs and she was at the top. She swung her "surgical kit" from her shoulders, opened the case, and pulled out a sniper rifle. It was already put together, even with scope. All she had to do was stick her favourite suppressor on, get in a good position, flip out the stand, and watch as the show was already starting to unfold below her. Through the scope, she followed her team into a building and flushed out the life form. Shouting started over the radio as they gained visual contact of the target so she flipped down a rectangular lens attached to the headset. With her other eye, she peered through the scope of her sniper rifle and matched up the visual feed she was picking up with one of the building's windows. He busted out of there quickly, with an odd lump on his shoulders and back which revealed itself to be another non-human life form.
When the carrying one stumbled a bit to deposit the wounded one behind some crates, Pigeon had a clear shot of both of them. She lined the sights with each of their heads in turn, lightly tapping the trigger and whispering "bam !". She was only a medic on this mission and had no direct orders to actually kill either of them. But she smiled to herself in confidence that she would have made some pretty red flowers behind both of their heads if she had. Foolishly, her team had let this moment pass and were only just closing in on both of them when one of them started fleeing. The other stood as if to protect his retreat.

Suddenly, the left-behind life form combusted out of nowhere and Pigeon had to pull herself back from the scope to view the full extent of the explosion. Remembering the other target, she quickly brought herself back to the scope and saw a vague figure dashing through the smoke towards a church.
She slung her rifle over her shoulder, abandoning the cheap disguise case it came in but picking up her suitcase. Then she flung herself over the rails of the fire escape landings, taking successive falls to the bottom of the building. She wanted to chase after the still living thing that had escaped, but her priorities were to check out the damage to her team. Already, she could see blood splattered across her video feed. She switched it over to a clearer channel and located some of the buildings she could view through it in order to get a more precise location. Arriving within seconds, she found much of her team smeared across the walls of the buildings nearest. The ones not caught in the blast were stumbling away from the scene in horror. Walking into the red zone, she found little that was not destroyed. The few weapons left intact she kicked toward some of the survivors also collecting equipment and regrouping. What was most unfortunate was the lack of a corpse specimen left behind by the exploding creature.

One of the bodies reached out to her with half a hand. His face was largely protected from the blast by a helmet he had worn. Unfortunately, she could not say the same for the lower half of his body, as it was more of a red streak that trailed several yards away. She leaned in close, realising it was the overly suspicious man from the air trip. "Help me." He gargled. Pigeon reached behind her, pulling out a pistol from its harness underneath her sweater. Then she helped him.

It was really all she could do for most of them. The lucky few with some third degree burns she treated properly, but quickly. Whatever was left of her team she threw cold compresses at and then left in a hurry. Most were still reeling from the blast to object.
The doors of the church were ajar when she arrived and she slipped inside unhindered. It was empty. She looked all around inside the building but finding nothing. There were no signs of an exit, so it had to be hiding. She whistled, clipping her briefcase on each of the pews as she came down the aisle and wondering if she should release one of the diseases she held in her possession. But she wasn't exactly sure what the life form was yet, and so did not know which of her tailor made concoctions would do the trick. She could use one of the more general ones but it would risk becoming an epidemic seeing as there were still people occupying this town. It's just so much easier for us to destroy...

She leaned against the church altar. An ancient bottle of wine stood there and out of boredom she flung it across the hall and shot it before it could hit the ground. A shower of deep red and broken glass fell upon the aisle and pews as the shot rang out and rattled the cracked windows. She listened carefully aftwerwards, but heard not a peep. Sighing, she relaxed against the altar and pulled out her cellphone. There were but a couple messages from her friends and one from a professor at her school. Pigeon had been inducted as a Hunter just two days ago, though it was more of an internship. It was rather indirect, as she had just caught the arm of a representative and had him reluctantly view a demonstration of her skills. The representative was impressed to the point of immediately taking her in, but she still had not received much in the way of communication with the main body of this organization. From what she had heard in the past while, it was headed by a man titled Aries and he was pretty much bent on eradication of the beings. She had also heard rumours that, put together, pretty much meant that this guy was the most awesome person in the world. It would be unfair if she could never meet him.

Across the air waves, she heard the team discussing their next move; whether to continue on or retreat for now. It's just the one guy, what are they even waiting for ? She thought. But it was really up to them. For now, she might as well hang around to see if the non-human would appear again.

At a well-guarded manor outside of town a man with blue eyes and black hair was reading the newspaper chuckling to himself as he read the deaths of more Beings. He checked his cell phone and sighed as it buzzed, it seemed he would not be able to enjoy this peaceful evening. "Yes this is Aries." he said flatly. "...I see...and you were a fool to let the doctor use that device on the boy?" there was stuttering as the man tried to explain, "no, no I think I got the idea quite clearly. I will be right over to you. Stay put." he commanded as he hung up. "Viktor! We need to go and deliver the punishment...pack your weapons." he told him. A blindfolded man with white hair nodded as he soon walked to the car with a small suitcase. Tsuyiko Irriochi or as some called him, Tikaius, was the leader of the Hunter Organization, ever since his father died in an...accident.

Tsuyiko got into the back of the limo and poured himself some red wine, "Drive, you know where." he said flatly as he took a sip of the wine. Viktor only nodded as he drove fast yet smoothly. They soon reached a house, the kids gawking as the limo pulled up. Tsuyiko smiled and patted one on the head as he entered, his business suit fluttering a bit in a breeze. The male hunter gawked at him, this was the first time he saw the infamous leader, and he was terrified. Tsuyiko flashed him a smile, "nice house you have, I brought some wine I thought we could enjoy together." The hunters’ wife entered and gasped at him. "You didn't tell me we were expecting guests." she told her husband. Tsuyiko chuckled, "I am sorry, I came...unannounced." he told her. "But my you are quite the sight! He is a lucky man to have you." he told her with fake cheer. "Viktor if you could get the red wine? I also brought some...gifts for the kids. They are in the Limo." he told his servant who followed his orders.

"Now then tell me about this boy? What did he look like?" he asked his employee as he entered the house. The man described the green haired boy and Tsuyiko Irriochi nodded. "I see...what makes you think he was a Being?" he asked him as wine was poured for them and he sipped it, the elegant flavor staining his tongue. "It was his movements they were to fluid." he remarked. Tsuyiko nodded. "I see, but the doctor handled the device and it came up negative correct?" he asked.

The man nodded, "Yes but I double checked it using it on a girl we have locked up...the device said she was human too." he told him. Tsuyiko frowned, "I see... well then this was planned to cover up all the beings that entered that room...You were good to double check." Tsuyiko replied to him as he got up and left the room. "W-wait! You aren't going to punish me?" he asked him frightened. Tsuyiko Irriochi chuckled softly, one with no mirth. "no." he replied as he left the house and turned to Viktor. "Do it." he calmly stated. Viktor took out a gun as his bullets sprayed into the children playing. Tsuyiko smiled as he raised his hand and set the whole house on fire hearing the people trapped inside screaming as they tried to break free when the earth sank the house trapping them inside to burn. The people on the street stared in horror as Tsuyiko Irriochi reassured them, "They were beings plotting to kill this whole neighborhood. The Hunters have dealt with them." he walked back into his limo and poured himself some more wine as they drove off, the flames flickering behind him as he smiled and let out a chuckle, "He should have known I do not accept failures from anyone..." he murmured gently as he took a sip of the wine.

He was heading home when he received a call on his cell phone. “Talk.” He simply stated, the smell of smoke still lingering. “Sir, there has been an explosion near the church, being made that killed the fire spirit…there were two but…” the man on the other end seemed hesitant. “But what?” he asked simply. “We….lost the other he escaped in the explosion…” the man weakly stated. Tsuyiko held in a sigh as he rubbed his brow. “Let me get this straight…you had an assignment to capture two beings yes? I gave you a squadron of men to do so…and you not only fail to stop the fire spirit from exploding…but you failed to locate the other one? Does that sum it up? Or did you also fail to mention casualties?” Tsuyiko Irrochi inquired. “W-well we lost some, the medic helped the few that had third degree burns as best as she-” he started to say, but he was interrupted. “She? Your medic is a he.” He snapped, “Clearly you need a real leader there, have your men stay put I will deal with this.” He barked as he hung up his phone. “Viktor, the church.” He stated as Viktor only nodded and drove there.

When they arrived Viktor stopped the car and opened the door for him. The humdrum from the men stopped as their boss stepped out, it was an odd occurrence for the boss to show himself out in the opening… not that he was scared of fighting but he usually only came out if he was needed, usually he handled many…behind closed door type of deals. “Where is this female medic?” he asked as the men pointed to the church. He only nodded as he stepped over the dead bodies noticing some had head shots from after the explosion, a mercy killing it seemed. Not one a being would do…unless the being was a fool.

He heard whistling and a gun shot in the church as he walked into just in time to see the wine rain down on the figure of a woman. “You must be the medic….wait yes I have seen your file, you are from another Branch of the Organization. Pigeon correct? I do not remember authorizing a transfer here.” He cooly stated as he walked in, his boots crunching on broken glass, the stance he had was one that demanded respect and order…as well as a dark power about him.

A stately figure entered the church with steps that seemed to bear weight not only in the physical sense but also in a way that imposed on her own state of mind. Incredible as it was that the top man would be willing to go out and see the grunt work, there was no doubt that this person was the boss. Pigeon quickly holstered her pistol in respect and gave a short bow. "Fancy seeing you here." She gave him a welcoming smile. "But I don't suppose the number one comes out for just no reason."

It was quite flattering when he mentioned seeing her file. He probably went through hundreds of them, so she was even more happy that he had remembered it. "Yes, that's me !" She replied when he named her. "Aw, I'm in a bit of trouble, aren't I ? Please, don't be mad. The other guy caught a cold. Poor thing started coughing when I touched him. And anyway, you may like what I have here."

Pigeon circled the altar and gestured to the whole place in general. "Hanging back and observing has benefits; the living one escaped into this church once he left his friend out there to blow up in the face of the team. Quite a nasty one, that was. I'm surprised half of them were left." On her eyepiece, she could see the living Hunters milling about. "The survivors are fine, I treated them myself. A bit of rest and they'd be raring to go. Though I'm not sure even their mothers could love faces like that anymore."

"As for our quarry, I'm certain it hasn't exited this place since. I don't know much of the nature of this thing but right now we seem pretty close to nabbing it as it must be pretty exhausted by now. What do you say ?"
