He placed his empty mug back on the table and stiffened when he felt Grant's hand on his shoulder and his voice in his hear, telling him that he'd been kidding before. That was a relief to Koda, giving him faith that other people wouldn't think that. But it also made him wonder how Grant had known it had bother him. Were his thoughts and emotions really that plain on his face? He'd kinda forgotton how to hide his emotions after ten years.
He got up from the table and went over to Midnight before she left. He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her on the lips briefly. "I'm sorry about last night" he apologized, even though he'd told himself he wouldn't "Shisou told me what I said. For the record, I didn't mean a word of it. I was just way too fucking smashed. I'm sorry." He kissed her again, this time on her neck. "Love you."
He walked away then, using his waking stick to easily navigate out of the room and down the hall. It took him a little while but he eventually found his way down to Art's office. Well, what he hoped was Art's office. It had been ten years ago. He pounded on the door several times but got no answer. He listened intently and heard no breathing on the other side. Greaatttt ..... He'd come all the way down here for nothing. It had taken him forever to get down here. He was legally blind for Christ's sake.

Midnight walked down the halls and outside until she reached the children's building. She walked in to see all the children eating, they all just stopped moving completely and stared at her. Midnight felt excessively uncomfortable with them all looking at her like a group of dolls. "Um..Hi...I'm Midnight, and I thought I would see how you are all liking it here." Little whispers chattered around the room, and it seemed they were almost chanting princess over and over again. The oldest child was maybe 5. Midnight was way better with kids around the age of 6 and up. She was going to kill Dylan because they obviously heard him calling her princess.
Some of the children ran up to her and touched her dress. They looked healthy, and happy. Some of them looked sad so she made it a point to fix all that. These little people were future delegates and they should be treated with love. Maybe she could get some of the others to come down and spend some time with the kids. She knew Mimi would love it, not to mention Mimi spoke the kids language.
So she sat down with them and listened to what they thought. The general consensus was they were happy to have a family, and the nannies were good to them. They even liked the training, getting to play with weapons and use their powers without being shunned. Midnight decided to stay for a bit longer and play before heading back to check on the progress of her team. She was so proud of her boys.

"I think Sage here has just answered our troubles Arucan. Like it not, there isn't a way around it, your going to have to become chummy with Midnight if were going to be successful at dethroning her from her own confidence. She'll be watching you more closely but in the public eye if anything does 'happen' to their precious Midnight you'll be out of direct suspision. Especially if you agree to donate your 'seeds' shall we put it, that might even knock her off guard for a bit it'll shock her so much. I severly doubt she expects you to agree to fathering her child after all."
Standing up Finn stretched and smiled over at Sage "As for that idea about getting some breakfast I more than welcome it, and don't think you can avoid coming Arucan its obvious you've wracked your brains out too much recently. A good meal will do you some good, maybe a drink and couple of girls aswell" he winked moving over towards the door awaiting Arucan to join, he meant it when he said he wasn't going to let him avoid it.

"Alright, let's try the kitchen and see if he's hanging around in there. Might well be busy stuffing his face at this tome of the momrning.
She made her way in the direction of the kitchen rather quickly, keen to produce some sort of results.
----
Art chuckled.
"We start taking bets now we'll be set for a while by the time this is over." he remarked to Dylan as he grabbed some food and a cup of coffee and set down at the table.
"As for Koda..well...well good for him that he's not dead and everything. I'd be lying if I said I was devestated by his death the first time around but it's fine that he's back."
---
Caddie wandered into the room, observing it for a moment before looking back over at Grant.
"...yeah..I'm okay...not quite as cold now...my feet kinda hurt...but that'll probably be fine soon..." she replied.
"...oh..and I was already in the river when i lost the flower...I jumped in becuase I thought one of the trees was chasing me...turns out it wasn't.."
Seh turned and headed over to the bathroom, making her way inside and closing the door.

Shedding the clothing was easy enough, though getting rid of the layers of old, ragged bandages that had been on longer than she could even remember....not that Caddie remembered for a very long time...but they were still very old. Pulling the last of the bandages away form her arms she paused to examing the jagged, grisly patchwork of stitches and scarring that made up her skin. The skin on her arm matched the rest of her body, leaving her face as the only part relatively untouched.
She quickly set about cleaning up, and dousing the accumulated grime and bits of what might well have been dried blood out of her hair.
Once she was looking more presentable, she tried to pull out some clothes, grabbing things that would conceal as much of her as possible, though much to her dismay she couldn't find anything that would obscure her patchy forearms from view. She pulled a scarf around her neck to at least maxmimize the cover that the clothes offeredm and dug her hands into the pockets before edging over to the door and peering out at Grant.
"Uhm...I think I'm done."

"I have the plan all sorted out now," he said, getting up, "I have used bits and peices of possible ideas to create a much more refined plan. I'll share it with you later. First, we need to eat, find Kora and Mimi, and do some training. Like you said, staying holed up in here is suspicious. We'll train for a while and then we'll all come back up here and I'll share the plan with all you? Okay? Now let's go."

"Yea yea, sounds good. I am so starving."
She made her way towards the kitchen and walked in spotting a group. Great, just what she wanted. She didn't mind Dylan so much and Shisou had never said two words to her really. Koda was ok, but Art and her strangely didn't get along so well. She never really knew why, she had always been nice to him. She put on her happy face smiling.
"Morning loves!"
She touched Koda gently.
"I bet your feeling just lovely. I on the other hand had a fantastic night."
She leaned on the counter briefly before going to make herself a cup of coffee.

"Looking pretty good Koda."
He laughed lightly until Sage walked in, unusually chipper. That scared him, she was normally an angry person.
"So Sage I bet you had a fantastic night. Can Grant walk or did you pull a Misery on him? So whats everyone up to?"
He snickered a bit at his clever references. God Dylan loved being Dylan.

"Yeah" he mumbled "I feel like a million bucks. It's like I won the hangover lottery. I only threw up six times." He put both his thumbs up and rolled his glossy eyes. He felt his stomach rolling too and pressed his lips together in irritaton. He was never drinking again.
He knew it was a lie. He told himself that every time.
"So Art" he said "I've been looking for you. Midnight wanted me to talk to you about some of Beckett's experiments. Practical uses for weapons and such." He shrugged. "Boss's orders."
.............
Mimi tripped along at Kora's side, eyeing Dylan with the others. "I don't think we'll be able to talk to him. Koda and Shisou are there. But so is Sage ..... Do you think Arucan sent her?" She grabbed Kora's wrist and dragged her over to an empty table on the other side of the room, hoping it was out of earshot. "Let's sit here" she said "Maybe Arucan will come down. He's probably hungry. He didn't come to dinner last night."

Grant looked over to her smiling. "You look very pretty." He looked down to her arms, Caddie looked mildly uncomfortable with them being so exposed. "Hold on a second." He went into the room and looked through the medicine cabinet. He pulled out some blue bandages and walked back to Caddie. "See we can fix this right up." He took her hand and tenderly wrapped her arm in the bandages. They actually looked pretty on her. He did the other arm tying each side in a pretty bow. "There, that seems a lot better. Well, I have to go and look for Arucan, and then Hazel. I brought some paper for you to make cranes while I'm busy, but I have a feeling that I wont be busy for very long. Come on." Grant walked with her towards the kitchen, he may have the best chance of cornering all of them there at one time. When they got to the kitchen, no Arucan, but other members of his team were there so that led him to believe that Arucan would be along shortly. "Hey guys, this is Caddie. She is from Sprinside and she is visiting for a while. No one is to lay a finger on her or be mean to her. This is Kora, Mimi, Art, Dylan, Sage, and you know Koda and Shisou." He placed the art supplies down at a table and went to go and get some food. He looked over at Art. "She is one of Beckett's experiments, but she is a nice girl as long as you don't piss her off. Her other side will kill you. She has a split personality thing going on. Just thought I would give you a heads up because anyone that pushes her buttons will be doing so at their own risk. She doesn't like doctors so much also." He got two cups of coffee and brought one to Caddie and some more food. "There you go. I'll share if your still hungry."

Sage dragged Dylan away passing by Grant. She ran her fingers across his shoulders as she walked by sitting with Dylan at a table.
"Where do you think Hazel has run off to? I have not seen her all morning. So I'm surprised your not chasing after Midnight Dylan. What are you not interested in her anymore because she has a boyfriend?" She teased.
Sage leaned back in the chair looking around.
"So what is it with Midnight's team crawling all over the place. Is something going on I don't know about?"

"Alright, then. Do you want to come down to the lab and I'll go over what I've got?" he asked.
"I'd rather get out of here before Jekyll and Hyde over there starts doing something crazy." he added quietly, indicting Caddie.
----
Kora frowned as Shisou addressed her. Just what she needed, and responsibility...Arucan was going to be pissed if she didn't get any results but she didn't want to break into any sort of open rebellion or something.
"Alright, I'll be there in a minute." Kora replied, getting to her feet.
"Mimi, can you handle the work for now while I'm talking to Shisou?" she asked, deliberately vague about the nature of the work. She was a little nervous about leaving Mimi to her own devices, but reminded herself that she was smarter than her ditzy appearance implied.
----
Caddie beamed, examining the new bandages on her arms and feeling a great deal less self-conscious about how she looked. Admittedly she still looked a little odd, but the jagged stitching was hidden away. She followed Grant into the kitchen, waving rather nervously at the assembled figures before going to sit down. She grasped the cup of coffee in both hands and leaned agaisnt the table, gazing round the room.
"...thanks for the paper...it's usually hard to get some...I'll make more folded paper..don't klnow what to make though...uh....what's your favorite animal Grant?"

Arucan made his way over to the table, coming up behind Mimi. He placed his hands on her shoulders in that absent, familiar way that he always did with his team. Touching them without really realizing it. It always helped him stay levelheaded, having physical contact with people he trusted.
"Hello Shisou," he said as friendly as he could manage, "Can we help you with something? Or are you just flirting with my Kora because she is just so darn pretty? Isn't she just so pretty Mimi?" He should really eat something. He was on the verge of sounding like Mimi.
. . . . .
Hazel clicked her way into the cafeteria, seeing as she couldn't find her freaking team anywhere else. She'd checked all their rooms and they were nowhere to be found. This seemed like the logical next place to check. After all, it was breakfast time.
She found them there; not eating, but they were still there. Standing off to the side, not far from the table that Koda, Grant, and Art were occupying. She made her way over to them, slinging an arm around Sage's shoulder and ruffling Dylan's hair as way of hello.
"I've been looking for you too all morning," she said, "Weβre overdue for a training session.β

Grant stood up. "Um, frogs, I like Frogs Caddie. I will be right back." Sage freaked him out temporarily and then he was struck with luck and Hazel, and Arucan walked in. He decided to get Arucan out of the way first. He walked up to Arucan. "Look I don't want to bother your breakfast or anything, but Midnight would like your help and advice on some of the laws and things that should be changed or left the same. She is putting together a committee to discuss things like that and you know blah blah blah. Anyway, team leaders have to join. So I am going after Hazel next. So later today in the conference room if you don't mind." He smiled. Grant especially liked Mimi, she was just so cute and playful in a good way. "Alright, well didn't mean to interrupt your breakfast. Oh, you know what I keep forgetting to tell everyone about Caddie. She is that little thing sitting at the table, she will be staying here for a little while and most likely adding some kick ass advancements to our research program. I am just warning you guys though. Piss her off at your own risk. She has a split personality thing and her other half is psychotic, literally. So you guys piss her off and she kills one of you, it's so your fault. I warned everyone ahead of time. See ya around."
Grant walked over to Hazel and gave her the run down on the committee, he knew Arucan and Hazel both didn't like to be told to do things, but this was so they could have an active hand in the decision making. They should be happy.

Midnight had finally gotten back to her office and started typing away on this document and that. She had plans to review, contracts to sign, teams to deploy, teams to recall. The list just went on and on. She took a momentary coffee break and then went directly back to work. She had so many files to run through, not to mention with the children doing so well in training she wanted to make the program a little harder. Maybe they were wrong just taking children of delegates, these kids were out preforming the children that came from Delegate families. She would have to figure out why that was. Maybe that would be a good thing for Mimi to do. She just had so much running through her mind at once. She leaned back in her chair and looked at the massive stacks of paper on her desk. She cracked her fingers smiling. "Damn I'm good..." She called Leslie. "Good morning, I have a present for you. It's up in my office..." She was already half done with all her make up work, by the end of the day she would be completely caught up. This was going well so far, and sending her team out of her hair for a while was very nice. No one knocking down her door, or running by naked. For a moment it seemed like it was running along very smoothly. She frowned, except the fact that Arucan wanted her dethroned and murdered very slowly.

"Well you have obviously finished a lot of the work that piled up while you were in Springside. I will start processing and filing the work. I admire your dedication to your work. And now I have a surprise for you."
Leslie called the nanny in. The woman had an infant and a diaper bag.
"Thought you would appreciate the practice before you made a decision."
Leslie took the baby from the woman and placed it in Midnight's lap. The child was young maybe four months, brown hair and bright green eyes.
"One of our youngest from the little child orphanage you had us build. He is an easy baby, surprising because his mother died in child birth and his father committed suicide."
Leslie waved the woman away and she reluctantly left the room.
"There is everything you will need in the bag, and as we speak there is a crib being installed in your room."
Leslie picked up the stack of paper.
"Thanks again for getting the work done in a timely manner."
She walked out closing the door behind her before Midnight started yelling at her. She brought the stack of work to the cafeteria to look over and seperate. She had to get something to eat.
The cafeteria was surprisingly packed, and she felt obligated to warn everyone about what was going on.
"Alright everyone please listen up for a moment. Midnight has completed all of the work that backed up while her team was in Springside, and I have dropped off a baby with her to see how she does. You all should most likely stay away from her for a few hours while she has her meltdown."
Leslie calmly went to the fridge and got a pint of blood sticking a straw in it like a capri sun. She sat down and settled into the paperwork.
---
Sage smiled at Hazel.
"Training sounds good. Grant when does this little committee meet? I would like to be involved as well, might be nice to have a direct hand in what laws will be passed and changed. I can let Midnight know my distaste for her style of running things and not be worried about repercussions."
She ruffled up Dylan's hair smiling.
"You going to be my sparing partner? I really look forward to whooping your ass, Or maybe you should invite Midnight to spar with you. I bet she could use a good stress reliever, and since it doesn't seem like you will be sleeping with her ever again, might be a good thing you know? One of the last things you can do with her intimately without violating your little moral code."
Sage really wanted to see how powerful Midnight had gotten. She couldn't properly judge how to take her down if she didn't know what she was capable of.
Sage perked up when Leslie walked in. Sage was bummed that Midnight completed the work so quickly, it just made her look better and better. She was stunned when Leslie said she had dropped off a baby with her.
"Are you crazy? Ok so Midnight may be good at paperwork and management but taking care of a baby is just not her strong suit. What if she drugged it to get it to stop crying? Or left it all alone. I mean come on people she is good at a lot of things, but mommy was never one of them. Her last kid died under mysterious circumstances for fucks sake. I'm going to make sure she didn't kill the damn thing."
Sage got up and left the cafeteria. She walked down towards Midnight's office just to check on the little guy. Sage always had a soft spot for kids and she would not let Midnight accidentally kill one, maybe she could borrow it from her to save the poor thing.

Grant felt like he was going to throw up he was so mad. His skin was prickling and all he could think about was Sage's face smashed into the concrete. He stood up and quietly walked out of the room after Sage. When Grant was truly angry he was quiet and Grant was never quiet. He quickly caught up with her and grabbed her arm, spinning her around to face him. "You have no right to ever speak about Midnight as a mother." He grabbed her by the neck and easily lifted her off the ground his hands baring down on her neck with a considerable force. "Baseless accusations are considered treason." He squeezed her harder. What would she do without all her fancy abilities to help her. Grant was way stronger and better at hand to hand combat. The adrenaline running through his body gave him this extra boost of strength if he didn't know better he would think he was having a heart attack.
Grant was not letting go. Sage deserved this.
*-*-*-*-*
Midnight was speechless when Leslie literally dropped a child in her lap and then walked out. She looked down at the tiny thing, he was kind of cute, and he was kind of crying. It had been like 75 years or so since she held a baby. It felt strange and she didn't like it. She frowned grabbed a bottle out of the bag and popping it into the kid's mouth. "What am i going to call you? Leslie never told me your name. How about I give you the nickname pumpkin. You are a fat little baby. It will do until I find out your real name. Now I have to work, so why don't you take a nap or something." Midnight walked out of the office to go to her room and put the baby down when she saw Grant in the hall strangling Sage.
She ran into her room and placed the kid in the crib nice and safe. She ran back out. "Grant! Let go." She ordered. "Your going to kill her!" Midnight tried to remove the grasp Grant had on Sage with no dice. Midnight was sorry for what she was about to do. She punched Grant right in the base of his spine triggering the injury he received years ago in that bar fight. Grant screamed and collapsed on the ground unconscious releasing Sage. Midnight grabbed Sage and pulled her away from Grant just in case he was still able to get up. Grant had almost collapsed her windpipe, and she had dark purple bruising around her neck. Sage looked like she would live, she was breathing on her own though she looking like she was struggling. "Fucking Christ, what happened Now?"

Leslie ran out of the cafeteria when she heard Midnight's voice commanding Grant to stop. She got out in the hall to Grant and Sage passed out and a confused Midnight making sure Sage was breathing.
"When Sage wakes up she will be served with her termination papers. I heard what she said, It was treasonous. You will have the call what to do with her."
Leslie called for a medic to take Grant and let him rest. She had no idea how to deal with the medical side of things. She was the expert on the laws. The medic's came and took Grant to the infirmary for some healing sessions. They returned to take Sage as well.
"Put her in a contained room. No access in or out without Midnight's permission."
After both them were gone she looked at Midnight.
"What are you going to do about this? Sage incited violence among a member of your group, she made a false declaration that you murdered your daughter. If you allow someone like that to remain it will be dangerous. Others will think that type of slander is acceptable. The final decision is yours."
Leslie went back to the cafeteria and back to her paperwork and blood bag. She didn't care if Sage was going to executed or not. The call was Midnight's.

Just as she felt a pang of hunger she regretted taking a detor towards the nearest Cafeteria, inside she recognised Grant from the bar holding up the girl she had a thrown a knife at. The sight of her still pissed her off so she felt the girl deserved what she got at that moment, however passing out so soon? The girl must be a weak Delegate or she really can't handle a tough situation well.
Figures, its always the ones with the bark that are the weakest.
"Can I help you?" A voice startled her for second as she looked beside her at a stranger.
......
Finn had followed Arucan into the kicthen were the others were eating, and found it rather amusing the spectacle that appeared before him as he leant on the door frame.
Midnight sure had a troublesome decision ahead of her if she was trying to co-operate with everyone.
As he watched a girl stopped just outside catching a glimpse at the last of the scene, the assassin, "Can I help you?" Finn figured now was a better time than any to use his power. He just had to get a direct look at the girls eyes, a difficultly as it seemed she preferred not to make eye contact with people.
"Not unless you have some food no" she was quick to reply and ready to leave.
"Sorry I don't carry food with me, not on my list of equipment, you may find some in there though, thats why your here right?" Finn was sort of cocky as always.
"Who knows" she cut him off so easily taking a step to move away.
It was clear to Finn that she was going to be a tough one to read with his powers, she didn't seem that open to others, then again she may just not be open with him. Not many people were and he didn't blame them.

"Because I'm so very pretty. I'm just too damn pretty for god to let me die." she joked, before being distracted in what she'd been saying by the commotion with Grant and Sage in the hallway. She wandered over in time to catch the tail end of it and frowned. Jesus christ. Grant had a temper...she would not have expected that from the one she'd always seen as the layabout of the team.
Not that she could really blame him, shge'd probably be doing the same to someone who was openly insulting Arucan like that. She had no love for Midnight, but still, claiming she was a child killer was pretty damn low.
---
Cadwyn also heard the noise and sprang down, hurrying over to the middle of the commotion, clasping her hands together nervously and encasing the half-finished origami frog she'd been doing.
"G-grant?" she asked nervously, padding in the direction of the man as she watched him being taken away, rather taken aback by the sudden display of furious anger.
"..is he okay?" she asked Midnight, tilting her head a little. She was rather concerned for both parties really, but she had more emotional involvement in the former.
Internally however E watched the fight and found the whole thing highly amusing. Nothing like an attempted murderer to kick the day off in the right way.

Contrary to popular belief Midnight was actually good with children. She did get frustrated with them easily, but Midnight was a patient woman. "You ever seen a baby Caddie?" She tried to drum up conversation and forget about two of the Delegates in the infirmary. Soon Leslie would be coming in with the termination papers expecting Midnight to sign them. Midnight was unsure if she was going to. She couldn't look weak and let Sage get away with that kind of talk but Midnight was hesitant to kill a member for something like that. Maybe there would be a way to spin this. She just had to think about all the possibilities. How could she let Sage off without appearing weak. Maybe Hazel would know since she would have a vested interest in Sage's survival. Midnight might not want to kill Sage but she was still angry that someone would say something like that.
-*-*-*-*-
Shisou rubbed his head frowning. Sage was in a world of hurt later, and Midnight had temporarily paralyzed Grant. Things were not looking good today. He followed Kora sighing. "Sorry but I think we will have to postpone our meeting. How about I come by your room later tonight and we can talk then." Kora should know that Shisou was not putting moves on her. He really wasn't that type of guy. Not that he didn't find Kora attractive, he actually found her very attractive, and he liked her personality. It was dead opposite of his and for some reason he liked it. But Shisou would not be so forward or so unoriginal to put moves on her by asking her back to her room later to work.
-*-*-*-*-
Grant groaned in the infirmary, he had woken up not exactly knowing what happened. Where was he anyway and why did he have the feeling that he couldn't move his legs. They felt all numb like they had fallen asleep for an extended period of time. He knew he was in the infirmary, but why? "What happened?" He looked around. "Where is Midnight? Get her the fuck in here. Please, I don't know what happened!" He begged a random doctor. They didn't have much answers for him except something about Sage and how she was in a contained room. Did he hurt her by accident? No that didn't make much sense since she was in lock down and he wasn't. Maybe she had done something wrong. He whimpered and settled into his bed. He hoped someone would show up with some answers soon.

"Uhm...a baby? Like those uh...small things?" she asked.
"...no...I've seen them from far a way...not really up close." she explained after a moment.
"....I'd be worried that I'd break it or something...they're all small and brittle..."
