The Road Ahead

Sometimes, you need to be lost, to be found...

The Road stretches out before you, seemingly endless, heading in a straight northern direction. The land to the east and the west is flat, at least to the horizon where a mountain range leers threateningly in the mist.

Everyone has heard the stories of heroes, of the brave men and women that take up a daring quest, or an impossible mission, and set forth with their hearts set like granite. Everyone has heard of their race against time, their loyalty, their bravery, and their tenacity. The days, the weeks, the months spent working towards their seemingly reckless goal. Each emotion, each bead of sweat and drop of shiny red blood spilt on the mission. And the flash of triumph as they succeed. And finally, the ending. The happily ever after. The villain vanquished, and the good guy standing tall and proud and alive at the end of the story.

But what does 'happily ever after' mean?

Sometimes it's as impossible a mission as the one that brought these heroes their victory. How do you settle back into a normal life after? Of course, there are those that do. The ones that grow old, rich, with their grandchildren gathered around their feet. But what of those that don't? They find themselves wandering, and then they find themselves on The Road.

You play one of those 'heroes'. Each one must have their own original story - a mission, or a quest that they have completed in the past.

Your hero hasn't been fortunate since that victory. Your hero has found themselves restless, and they have wandered onto The Road.

This role-play is about a group of these Heroes that have found themselves on The Road, and now have no other option but to travel it.

It is about the forming of the relationships between these characters as they journey together - willingly, or unwillingly. As time goes by, they will travel along The Road, and whatever happens, happens. It is up to you, as the Heroes, to carry this through.

The creation of your character is entirely up to you, and allocation of places will come on a first come, first served basis, provided that it displays the quality of your writing skills. I'm not looking for anyone to write the next best selling novel, but it would be greatly appreciated if you could string a sentence together. Please, no stereotypes, and try to be creative! I'd really like to emphasise that I don't want these heroes to be named after or too heavily based on any other you might have seen. These are the headings that I would definitely like to see:
