Personality Description
Max is a very tough, strong-willed guy. He had to be because of the life he had. His father died when he was three and ever since his mother began going down a bad path, so he practically had to take care of her. If he didn't no one would. He is also very protective over the ones he loves, so much so that one could call him overprotective, but Max doesn't see it that way. Because of this, he does tend to come off as a jerk at times and is blunt with situations he shouldn't be. He doesn't intend on hurting people, it just kind of happens that way because he has a hard time dealing with certain emotions. Even with all of this, he is one of the most trustworthy guys you could ever meet. If you needed someone to lean on, talk to, or is even in need for help with anything, he'd willingly be there to do so.
Max grew up in a broken home since the age of three. Ever since the day of his father's death, his mother just couldn't seem to hold herself together. She began to pick up on doing drugs, abusing alcohol, and even laid her hands on Max a few times. When he was younger Max was always scared of his mother because he had no idea what she would do to him at any given second throughout the day. But once he got older, he began to see things through her eyes. He understood a bit more, but that didn't mean he liked it. Max began to take care of his mother, tried to admit her into rehab, and even tried getting her to talk out her feelings to him; none of that seemed to work. It seemed that the more he tried to help her, the worse she got so eventually he just backed off and just observed. There was nothing he could do if she didn't want to help herself.
With the life he was forced to grow up in, he was in desperate need of someone else in his life. The family he had, he couldn't even go to because his mother didn't want him to even speak to them over the phone. All she would tell him was, "They're bad news," and that was the end of it. Max never knew their names, what they looked like, nothing.
In school, he was usually feared because he would randomly snap at random people just for looking at him the wrong way. Max was never a bad guy, he was just going through things he shouldn't have his entire life. Max never learned how to handle his own emotions. But it wasn't until he met Amaris that he started to calm himself down a bit. Now, he never completely calmed himself down, but he isn't as malfunctioned as he was before she came into his life.
When Max first met Amaris he wasn't too sure about her, he didn't even want her in his life. She seemed to wiggle her way into it though, no matter how hard Max tried to push her away. Eventually they became best friends and after a couple months he started developing feelings for her. The two of them started dating their sophomore year of high school and ever since they've been together. Max is head over heels in love with this girl and would do anything for her. She has seen him at his toughest times and his better times and she still seemed to stick around through it all. Max doesn't want her to leave him, but is shocked she has been around as long as she has. He thought for sure Amaris would have been gone by now.
The last year has been the toughest for him though. He's been looking for a job since his mother quit her's and hasn't even attempted to go out to find another one. Bills were piling up, last notices were being sent through the mail; if he didn't find a job, and fast, everything they owned would be gone. They'd be living on the streets for the rest of their lives and there would be nothing they could do about it until one of them got a job.
His mother began to spiral even more out of control. She started doing the hard drugs, such as heroin, crack, etc. She'd have a drug dealer stop by at late hours in the night just to get her fill. She owes her drug dealer at least six hundred dollars, that is money neither of them had. Max knew that if he were to talk to his mother about the money issues it wouldn't go anywhere, so he just hoped that he'd be able to pay all the bills and pay the drug dealer so he wouldn't try to kill his mother because he was becoming impatient about getting his money. But his mother killed herself before she was able to let it get that far. In the middle of the night, Max was woken up by a gunshot and immediately ran to find his mother, but she wasn't alive when he stepped into her bedroom. A bullet hole went straight through her head and there were drugs and needles lying on her bed around her. Needless to say, Max didn't deal with his mother's death very well. He began to blame everyone in the world for her death, even himself.
Almost a week after his mother's passing, he got a visit from Antonio and [FC Eva], they were inviting him to stay with them. They heard about his mother's death and about their money issues. At first Max was a bit sketchy about the idea, but after thinking on it for a couple days, he figured it would be his only way of being able to get back onto his own feet. Of course he knew he could always go to Amaris for help, but he always had too much pride in himself to ask for help, especially from her.
In the end, Max moved in with the family he was always told not to trust or try to find, he just hoped his mother would understand. Even though she was dead, he still felt that she was with him, watching everything he did. Though one thing he would have never expected, was that his family was a mafia and he would grow to love the new life he was brought into.
