Personality Description
Max is a very tough, strong-willed guy. He had to be because of the life he had. His father died when he was three and ever since his mother began going down a bad path, so he practically had to take care of her. If he didn't no one would. He is also very protective over the ones he loves, so much so that one could call him overprotective, but Max doesn't see it that way. Because of this, he does tend to come off as a jerk at times and is blunt with situations he shouldn't be. He doesn't intend on hurting people, it just kind of happens that way because he has a hard time dealing with certain emotions. Even with all of this, he is one of the most trustworthy guys you could ever meet. If you needed someone to lean on, talk to, or is even in need for help with anything, he'd willingly be there to do so.

Biography
Max grew up in a broken home since the age of three. Ever since the day of his father's death, his mother just couldn't seem to hold herself together. She began to pick up on doing drugs, abusing alcohol, and even laid her hands on Max a few times. When he was younger Max was always scared of his mother because he had no idea what she would do to him at any given second throughout the day. But once he got older, he began to see things through her eyes. He understood a bit more, but that didn't mean he liked it. Max began to take care of his mother, tried to admit her into rehab, and even tried getting her to talk out her feelings to him; none of that seemed to work. It seemed that the more he tried to help her, the worse she got so eventually he just backed off and just observed. There was nothing he could do if she didn't want to help herself.

With the life he was forced to grow up in, he was in desperate need of someone else in his life. The family he had, he couldn't even go to because his mother didn't want him to even speak to them over the phone. All she would tell him was, "They're bad news," and that was the end of it. Max never knew their names, what they looked like, nothing.

In school, he was usually feared because he would randomly snap at random people just for looking at him the wrong way. Max was never a bad guy, he was just going through things he shouldn't have his entire life. Max never learned how to handle his own emotions. But it wasn't until he met Amaris that he started to calm himself down a bit. Now, he never completely calmed himself down, but he isn't as malfunctioned as he was before she came into his life.

When Max first met Amaris he wasn't too sure about her, he didn't even want her in his life. She seemed to wiggle her way into it though, no matter how hard Max tried to push her away. Eventually they became best friends and after a couple months he started developing feelings for her. The two of them started dating their sophomore year of high school and ever since they've been together. Max is head over heels in love with this girl and would do anything for her. She has seen him at his toughest times and his better times and she still seemed to stick around through it all. Max doesn't want her to leave him, but is shocked she has been around as long as she has. He thought for sure Amaris would have been gone by now.

The last year has been the toughest for him though. He's been looking for a job since his mother quit her's and hasn't even attempted to go out to find another one. Bills were piling up, last notices were being sent through the mail; if he didn't find a job, and fast, everything they owned would be gone. They'd be living on the streets for the rest of their lives and there would be nothing they could do about it until one of them got a job.

His mother began to spiral even more out of control. She started doing the hard drugs, such as heroin, crack, etc. She'd have a drug dealer stop by at late hours in the night just to get her fill. She owes her drug dealer at least six hundred dollars, that is money neither of them had. Max knew that if he were to talk to his mother about the money issues it wouldn't go anywhere, so he just hoped that he'd be able to pay all the bills and pay the drug dealer so he wouldn't try to kill his mother because he was becoming impatient about getting his money. But his mother killed herself before she was able to let it get that far. In the middle of the night, Max was woken up by a gunshot and immediately ran to find his mother, but she wasn't alive when he stepped into her bedroom. A bullet hole went straight through her head and there were drugs and needles lying on her bed around her. Needless to say, Max didn't deal with his mother's death very well. He began to blame everyone in the world for her death, even himself.

Almost a week after his mother's passing, he got a visit from Antonio and [FC Eva], they were inviting him to stay with them. They heard about his mother's death and about their money issues. At first Max was a bit sketchy about the idea, but after thinking on it for a couple days, he figured it would be his only way of being able to get back onto his own feet. Of course he knew he could always go to Amaris for help, but he always had too much pride in himself to ask for help, especially from her.

In the end, Max moved in with the family he was always told not to trust or try to find, he just hoped his mother would understand. Even though she was dead, he still felt that she was with him, watching everything he did. Though one thing he would have never expected, was that his family was a mafia and he would grow to love the new life he was brought into.

Max has been living with the Cuevas Mafia for about a week now and it seems as if his life will never be the same again. Losing his mother was something he never thought he'd have to go through for many years and yet, that seemed to happen without expecting it. Max tried all he could to help his mother get better, but there was nothing he could do without his mother wanting to change herself. Though if he were being completely honest with himself, if it weren't for Amaris being in his life, he wasn't sure how he would be able to handle anything that has recently been thrown his way.

Everything about this new life has been a bit overwhelming and there was nothing he could tell Amaris about his family without spilling the secrets the mafia holds close to them. He was let in without a single thought, just because he was blood and there was one other girl, Kira who had to prove herself to officially become part of the family. Max could never seem to understand why anyone would want to choose this life for themselves, but then again there was so much about this life that he still didn't fully grasp onto and understand.

Don't get him wrong, he is thankful for his Aunt and Uncle's willingness to help him out when they found out his mother passed away and he needed a place to stay, but never for one second would he have thought the reason why his mother kept the rest of his family a secret was because they were a mafia.

The male let out a sigh as he leaned back on his bed and pulled his phone from his pants pocket. He needed to see Amaris, talk to her, have a bit of fun. Really anything to get his mind off of everything he's been forced to go through. If there was one thing Amaris was ever good with, was making Max realize the joys in life. She showed him that there was more to life than struggles and horrible situations. But sometimes he needed to have her around for him to remember that and this was one of those times.

To Amaris
Could you come over? I'd like to see you.

Max sent the message before standing to his feet to go close his bedroom door. The male enjoyed his privacy and sadly the only way to get that was to keep his bedroom door closed because of the amount of people living in the New York home. Once the door was closed, he made his way over towards his stereo, turned it on, then made his way back towards his bed and sat back down. Max let out another sigh as he laid his head against the headboard and interlaced his fingers before laying them upon his stomach.

Riven smiled softly at the feeling of warm sunlight spilling onto her face. She must of forgotten to close the blinds last night, not that she minded however. It was her favourite time of the day, those few precious seconds between sleep and wakefulness where she is completely aware of all the sensations which surround her. The sun, the birds, the feeling of Lucas sleeping on the other side of the bed.

Everything as it should be.

However, that time was short, only a few seconds after all, and soon Riven was required to become fully conscious and focus on her current task at hand. She hadn't gotten her role as Capo by simply lying around and so it is with this mindset that Riven swiftly pulls herself out of the warm covers and out into the cool morning air. Not bothering to see if Lucas noticed the disturbance, Riven quickly threw on a pair of shorts, a tank top and some combat boots before pulling her hair up into a loose ponytail. Though it was informal, it was the cloths Riven felt most comfortable in and the cloths she was most likely to be found wearing even in formal situations... Though there were always exceptions to the rule.

Once dressed, Riven quickly made her way out of her shared bedroom and down the hallway towards the kitchen. She could hear some noise around the house, signifying that other members of the family must be awake. She also heard music coming from the new kids bedroom. Glancing at the door briefly on her way past, she contemplated knocking and greeting the latest member of the Cuevas Family, however decided against it. She had never met the boy and, in personal opinion, did not believe it right that he should join the family.

Of course, the boy had more ties to the family then she herself did, but that wasn't her objection. That boy had been taken from his life and sheltered from it to some degree. It was going to be a shock to his system when he found out what being part of a mafia family is really like. He would of been better off being kept out of it.

Then again, it was none of her business and so Riven would keep her opinions silent.

Finally entering the kitchen, she set about putting on the coffee machine. She was going to need as much caffeine as she could get today, as it was going to be a long one. Not only did Riven have to deal with some quarrels her soldiers were having with some petty gangsman who thought they could start edging in on her territory, but she was also required to meet an associate who held some valuable information about a successful drug lord who was looking for partnership.
