Walk the lighted path...

a character in “The War of Celandine”, as played by Arlathina

Description

Name:Arlathina Dalisia

Race:Elf

Age: 212

Appearance: By most Elven standards Arlathina is a beautiful maiden, and any human would find her fairer than any female of his race. She has long brown hair with redbrown streaks. Her long and flowing hairstyle frame her round and jovial face in such a way that suggests youth. She has dark angled chocolate brown eyes that are uncommon in Elves. She inherited these from her mother. She has thin lips and a small nose which make her eyes look much larger. She has a beautiful embroidered Autumn colored dress. (See Picture) The large circlet with the inlaid ruby is a family heirloom that has been passed down from mother to daughter in House Dalisia since before the Erandor Concordat. When it was given to Arlathina it still had flecks of her mother's dried blood.

Picture:Image

Personality: Due to recent events in her life Arlathina has hardened into a somewhat cold, and indifferent person. Her father testifies that before this she had a beautiful colorful personality that was reminiscent of the great variation of flowers that populate the Silverwood Forests during Spring. Some scraps of this personality can still be seen within her. Although it is an arduous task to draw them out. She often spends weeks out in the forest alone. She enjoys the solitude.

Rank: As a Queen's Handmaiden Arlathina is treated as part of the royal family.

Weapons/Equipment: Arlathina is a legendary archer despite her tender age. She has her family's ancestral bow. This bow was crafted by Arlathina's Great-Great-Great-Great Grandfather. It has lasted so long due to the material it is made of. Steelbark can endure for hundreds of thousands of years. The large flowering vines that emboss the bow still look as if they were carved yesterday. These flowering vines are the symbol of the Dalisia clan.

Magic: Each Noble Elven House is endowed with a special, and unique power. Each of these powers have been taught along the generations for millenia. The soverign deity of House Dalisia is Y'ffre the forest god. He is sometimes referred to as Edan Tel'Nomor, or Man of The Oaks. Arlathina is a daughter of House Dalisia. House Dalisia is very intune with the forests, and other things that have to do with nature. Therefore, House Dalisia was rewarded with the ability to control the growth of plants. They can also manipulate trees, and plants, do their bidding. Because of this ability members of House Dalisia have always been given a title. Hin Tel'Nomor, or Child of The Oaks.

Opinion on the war: Arlathina has a particular resentment towards Dwarves. They were responsible for her mother's death. Arlathina's Words: "I want to be the one to rid Celandine of the last of those stumpy fiends! Never again will they waddle Celandine without the fear of my reckoning hanging over their minds."
Also, she has sworn fealty to the Elven Queen.

History/Bio: I remember waking up that morning. I felt something in the house. Something I had never felt in the house that I had spent my whole childhood in. I felt despair, and devastation, but most of all, I felt hollow. As I walked through the hall my hands found their way over to the grooves in the wall, where artists had spent days painting the small waving vines and leaves, with tiny light brown deer dotted here and there. It was something that had always comforted me, something that felt familiar, and safe. I then heard wailing. Wailing that can mean only one thing... heartache. I walked into the main hall to see my father clutching his face, pulling on his hair as if it would distract him from the pain he felt in his heart. When he raised his head I took in his bloodshot eyes, and mourning expression. I then realized why I had felt so strange that morning, and why I felt as if I needed the comfort of the paintings on the wall. My mother wasn't coming back from the front lines... My body shut down at that moment. My vision turned gray, and watery as a stream of tears began to fall down my face. I saw my father's mouth moving, trying to console me, but it mattered not. He was mute to my ears. All I could think of was my mother. My sweet mother who had sang me lullabys as a child, and swatted my fingers for trying to get the sweet pies she cooked during the Summer Solstice. My beautiful mother who I had inherited my large almond eyes from, and my elegant demeanor. The last sensation I felt was falling. A terrible falling feeling, I almost thought I had hurled myself out of the window, and down the cliff that my house was built on. I think I would have favored that fate. It certainly would have saved me much suffering, but nay. I had only fallen to the hard stones that this wretched place was built out of. My father rushed over to me, but it still seemed as if my hearing would never return. I guess the strain on my body was too much, because after that I fainted. My brothers later on recieved the news. They did not fare any better with the news than I had. My twin brother Lafarin collapsed to the floor, in a heap of convulsing sobs. I remember as I watched him on the floor, his whole body shook with the might of his anguish. I guess I should have pitied him, but my eyes were dry. I had no more tears to cry. The only thing left in my heart was hatred for the abominations that had killed my mother. The Dwarves. Though, that seems like such a long time ago now. Finally, my chance may be close at hand to rid them of this world, and let me tell you all something. I will mercilessly seize upon it as a snake mercilessly seizes a mouse between its jaws. In order to further my interests of destroying these animals, I accepted the formal invitation to become a Queen's Handmaiden. They are not the dainty housekeepers that may come to mind though. We are an elite group of Elven Warriors who have pledged our life to the Queen, and I will have it that her royal Highness may walk from these woods, to the Ankhor Mountains and back, without a single incident to stand in her way. Will you dare stand before me? Come, I will show you the true might of an Elven Archer.

So begins...

The Silverwood Forests had finally come into view. I was so happy! Niara, Eserah, and I all galloped at full speed. When we reached the plain where the traps had been set, we dismounted the horses, and carefully guided them through the booby trapped field. When we reached the tree line we were greeted by cheering soliders. They had heard of our feats in Erandor, and seemed quite pleased. Eserah, and Niara decided they would go to their tents to get settled and bathe. I figured I should do the same, so after a brief scene of hugs, we went our seperate ways. I ran towards my tent looking for Lafarin. I missed him dearly, but instead I found a letter. It was from Commander Quartam.

Arlathina,
It has come to my attention that you have somewhat of a soft spot for me, and I have some strange feeling towards you. I would like to personally discuss this, and hopefully improve our relationship with each other. I hope you agree with me on this matter, and that you will also agree with meeting me in a private location.

If you go to the river, there is a small hot spring hidden there, if you pay attention, you should notice it somewhat quickly.

Sincerely,
Quartum

How strange, I decided since I needed to bathe anyways that it wouldn't hurt. As I turned towards the tent flap, a glimpse of my face caught me by suprise. My dark glossy hair, and beautiful face structure had returned. I once again resembled my dear mother, and I felt relieved at last. I took a few minutes to reflectively stare into the mirror then headed towards the hot spring. It wasn't a long walk, but when I reached it my eyes met a shocking sight. Commander Quartam was sitting in the hot spring completely naked!

I covered my eyes, and apologized. "Oh! Commander Quartam, I didn't mean to barge in, I didnt know you would be naked!"

Just as I began to take off my clothes an Elven Soldier ran out of the clearing. Commander Quartam fumbled with her breasts as she tried not to expose them.

"Ma'am one of our scouts was just shot in the head. A human archer was seen at the fringes entering the Forest. What should we do?" I never even stood to answer him. Rage welled up inside me, and pity for the unfortunate soldier. I summoned the forces of the Forest from inside my body. Branches of the trees bent down, and grasped my wrists. The trees began to pass me off to one another like a pail of water used to put out a fire. Seconds later they set me down on the Forest floor. A small distance away the Human walked unaware of my presence. I ran out of the bushes and took him by suprise. The sheer force of my assault sent me and the Human sprawling. When we finally stopped tumbling I was on top the Human. I punched and scratched, and screamed at the top of my lungs, birds went flying everywhere. True it was a juvenile assault, but the rage I was feeling wouldn't let me think about that.

Amond crept through the forest looking left in right every few steps to make sure he wouldn't be walking right into the path of any oncoming patrols, even so he was not prepared for the incoming assault. An elvish woman popped out of the bushes to his near left, his initial reaction was to go for an arrow to load his bow but he never got the chance.

His body was rocked by the elf and even though she had a small frame her rage gave her enough strength to send him sprawling to the ground and his bow flying from his hand, he struggled to be the one to come out on top but that did not quite work out like he hoped as he found he was beneath a woman punching, screaming and clawing at his face. After the first few punches and scratches his arms were up to take the rest of the damage, he would then use size to his advantage as he grabbed her wrist and sit up with as much force as he could muster to throw the elf off of him. He rolled over on his stomach quickly and stood to his feet.

He could feel a warm stream of blood run down his from his nose over his upper lip and his face stung from the several scratches she inflicted him with, he said nothing as he ran at her just as she would be standing to her feet to land a hard kick to her gut that would send her back to the ground, unlike her he was not in a rage and fully intended to take his time beating and breaking the woman before he killed her.

"Arlathina!" Yuhra leaped from the water and brought her knives into the air, keeping them a few feet ahead of her. She ran as quickly as she could to the scene of combat. She positioned her knives all directly behind the human's neck, one of them very slightly pricking the back of his neck. "Halt, in the name of Queen Vanira. How dare you be so bold as to not only just trespass onto the Silverwood Forests, but to Assault one of the Queen's Handmaidens in the presence of a general! I could kill you now, but I've decided to let you go this time. You should be grateful to still have your head attached." Quartum was going to try and use her authority and her steep advantage over the man to force him to leave. She didn't intend on killing him, though it may become necessary.

"Arlathina, are you alright?" She called to the enraged elven woman in front of them.

Soon the rage that had fueled me ran out, and my strength began to fleet with it. He threw me off of him, where a stone hit my back. The pain sent a dull ache through my body, and I slowly tried to raise myself to my feet. My fingers grasped for my bow, but the man ran towards gave me and gave me a fierce punt in the stomach before I could reach it. I felt bile rise in my throat as he kicked, I swallowed it back down.

Luckily, Yuhra came crashing out of the trees with her knives raised she manipulated one to land near the man's back.

"Halt, in the name of Queen Vanira. How dare you be so bold as to not only just trespass onto the Silverwood Forests, but to Assault one of the Queen's Handmaidens in the presence of a general! I could kill you now, but I've decided to let you go this time. You should be grateful to still have your head attached." I almost began to laugh. So formal, even in war. "Arlathina, are you alright?" She asked in a sincere tone.

After a fit of coughing I could finally answer back. "I'm fine, this Nardohuan kicked me!" Cowardly dog. I picked myself up off the ground and pulled my bow off my back. I aimed my bow at the man, and for the first time I noticed that he looked exactly like the blonde youth I had murdered in Erandor. "I... I know you! You had family in Erandor didn't you! That was until an arrow tore out his throat. Am I right?!" I began to laugh, as I saw rage contort the man's face into an ugly mask.

By now a battalion of Elven Soldiers had arrived and restrained the man. They looked at Commander Quartam, waiting for her command.

He was ready to deliver more punishing blows to the elf but just as he cocked his large right hook back he felt a slight pain as a blade grazed the back of his neck and he froze.

"Halt, in the name of Queen Vanira. How dare you be so bold as to not only just trespass onto the Silverwood Forests, but to Assault one of the Queen's Handmaidens in the presence of a general! I could kill you now, but I've decided to let you go this time. You should be grateful to still have your head attached." he lowered his arms in a submissive way, he was still itching to tear into the elf before him but they now had the upper hand and he knew it "Arlathina, are you alright?" he heard the second elf, another female he figured by the sound of her voice.

"I'm fine, this Nardohuan kicked me!" he spat on the ground near her, though he did not understand what she had called him he could tell it had to be an insult. He was about to raise his hands again but in a submissive fashion of one prepared to be taken prisoner as she aimed her bow at him, but then she said those words, the words that struck a cord deep inside the man that unleashed an animal like rage in him. "I... I know you! You had family in Erandor didn't you! That was until an arrow tore out his throat. Am I right?!" Before he could even make a move he found himself surround by elven soldiers, reason would tell him to stand down but he was beyond that and in a blind rage he lashed out at the first soldier to close in on him. He knocked him to the ground with a right hook, then followed up with a heavy elbow to the face of another who approached him from behind and for a second he felt as though he could fight his way through them all, but naturally numbers prevailed and they were all upon him restraining his arms. His eyes fixed right on the female elf " Kill me now if you know whats good for you! " he shouted, breaking his silence at last as he struggled to break free of them with no such luck " if not I swear I will kill you, i swear it ! You will taste fear, and learn the pain of death

"No, that would be mercy." I looked at him with a cold glare. "These were your brother's very words. Everyone must make sacrifices in this war, even I have lost people to this. My mother was torn away from not too long ago, and until now I haven't had anyone to share that pain with. Though you will be the exception. It is someone elses turn to feel their whole world collapse in upon itself. Most of all though, you will be my personal servant. As a direct descendant of Dalisia I have the right to revoke the Erandor Concordat, and I state that from this day Elves will once again rule Celandine with an iron fist!" The soldiers began to cheer and shout with the frenzied look of a pack of wild wolves. They shook the Human roughly, but his gaze remained fixed on me with a uncomfortable intensity. I looked at the soldiers. "Bring him back to my tent and chain him to floor. Feed him only minor rations, and do not speak to him no matter how much he prompts you." I walked forward to the Human and slapped him across the face. "Be happy, your making history." The soldiers happily obliged they lead him back into the forest towards my tent. I walked forward to Yuhra.

"Let us leave Commander, I hope you do not find fault with my actions." Yuhra and I walked off together, and the last thing I heard was the Human's piercing cries.

(With Shaowdow's permission I want Arlathina to end up becoming friends with the Human and then she takes back what she said about the Erandor Concordat, and then she negotiates peace with the Human King. Just so you all see where I'm going with this.)

Yuhra and I walked silently through the Forest back towards camp, I kept my gaze directed at the floor. If she even looked at me I wouldn't want to know. A intense feeling of shame resonated through every inch of my body. I must look like a mess right now, all bloodied and ragged like an insane Forest Elf. I reflected as I walked past the ferns. I had let rage consume me over a fallen comrade. Hearing about deaths in the war, and experiencing them firsthand were definitely two different things. I looked over the radiant birches and towering pines of the Forest trying to find consolation in the beauty of my home, though it did nothing to lessen my remorse.

I could imagine the spirit of Dalisia flying to and fro through the trees, buzzing around my head like an angry wasp. I didn't know if I had the right to revoke the Erandor Concordat, and at the time I wasn't exactly thinking clearly, but I fear I would have resorted to killing the man if I hadn't done it. As I thought more and more about it I finally began to realize what I had just done. I had just re-written the history books of Celandine. I wasn't entirely sure my cause was just though, and that is what troubled me the most. I did not want to be remembered as the vicious Elf who reinstated the practice of keeping Humans as slaves, or maybe as a vicious tyrant who took the work of her ancestors and threw it on the ground like a moldering carcass. Though it was too late to go back on my words now.

We had returned to the hot spring when I finally lifted my head. I stripped down and bathed the small flakes of the Human's dried blood off my body and face. Again I felt the compulsion to scrub at my arms, though I hadn't even taken his life, and maybe I should have. Was it wrong to want to condemn someone to the same suffering that I had faced for almost two decades? Everyone made sacrifices in this war, and now it was his turn. After I was finished I put on comfortable wool dress that a soldier had delivered for me. It wasn't particularly beautiful, but the fabric was comforting, like that of a strong embrace.

Yuhra had been sitting quietly on a rock the whole time, and I had been waiting for her to say something that would make me feel a bit better. Though she had been silent until now.

"Arlathina. I've been thinking now, and I think that we may have a little bit in common. I just want you to know, that after all of this, I finally found out what all of this means to me. Everything we've argued about was simply because we didn't know each other very well. I just wanted to say, long-winded as I am, that I have figured out what this emotion I have been feeling for you is." She sat down next to Arlathina and blushed slightly. "The thing is, the emotion I felt was something like no other. The only thing that came close was what I felt for my human father. This emotion I'm feeling about you is..."

Quartum placed her hand on Arlathina's cheek
"Love. It is love that I am feeling for you."

I was shocked by Yuhra's proclamations. I felt my face turn a bright crimson, and my palms began to sweat profusely. I tried to speak but only a jumbled pile of words came out. Finally I gained control of my tongue. "I... I had no idea. I had certain feelings about you too, but I hadn't the slightest that you felt that way about me." I confessed. "Why me though? There are plenty of other women in Isteria, and many of them are far more beautiful than me. I'm not sure if I have time to be thinking of such things Yuhra." I suprised myself when I called her Yuhra. I usually called her Commander Quartam, but my tongue had just slipped.

I grabbed her wrist and attempted to remove her palm from my face.

(I would just like to point out that in MY version of Elven Culture, same sex relationship and intercourse are completely norm.)

"You will have time for this, though." Yuhra leaned forward and gently kissed her, wrapping her arms behind Arlathina's neck to hold the two of them together. "I don't know why I fell for you, but it was like love at first sight." She kissed her again. "Arlathina Dalisia, I want you to know that I love you. Please don't leave me." She held Arlathina tight and shed several tears. "I don't want this war to split us apart."
She almost began to sob.

"You will time for this, though. " Yuhra leaned forward and pressed her face against mine. When our lips met it felt like electricity was running through my body. My stomach turned upside down, and I couldn't help the compulsion to wrap my arms around her. She held my neck gently, and I hadn't felt this comfortable since my mother's death. When she pulled away to speak I was almost disappointed. "I don't know why I fell for you, but it was like love at first sight." Yuhra kissed me again, and then she pulled away again. Almost as if she was toying with me. "Arlathina Dalisia, I want you to know that I love you. Please don't leave me." She threaded her arms around my back and pushed me against her, while I laid my head on her shoulder. I felt drops of water fall onto my cheek, and I looked up to see she was crying. "I don't want this war to split us apart." She was almost hysterical at this point, and I felt a pain in my heart. I could not tell if it was from pity or from love. Although I do know that I just couldn't stand to see her cry.

We were both resting on our shins looking at eachother when I let go of her. I put my fingers to her chin, and lifted her face until her gray eyes were resting on me. Her eyes were bleary as silent tears leaked out. I slowly kissed her on her forehead, and then I came a bit lower and kissed her once on her right cheek and once on her left. Finally, I came upon her soft pink lips. I rubbed my finger under her eyes wipeing away the tears, and relished the feeling of bliss I got when I let our lips mingled. "I won't leave you." I wrapped my arms around her back, and looked into her eyes. "And this war won't tear us apart Yuhra. I swear that I will stand by your side always. I can't be sure what I'm feeling, but I will be by your side as a friend... or maybe something more." I comforted her in gentle voice. A voice that I did not use often. The formation of my vocal chords felt awkward in my throat, but I just decided to let it flow out as naturally as I could. "Amin mela lle." I love you. I conveyed my emotions in the ancient language because I felt as though it would be more sincere that way.

I realized why her offenses against the forest made me feel such strong emotions now. I made a silent pray to Y'ffre to forgive her and when I was done I turned my attention back to her.

"Arlathina, I think we need to be on our way back to camp. Imagine it. 'Commander Quartum caught in a romance with one of the Queen's handmaidens'. What a scandal it could turn into if anyone besides our immediate families found out." She thought of how quickly it would spread throughout the elven people. She slowly put back on her multiple-layered outfit, each one representing a generation of her family. Each layer was made by the person it represented.

The first layer represented Primi, the creator of the art of the full-edged knife. It is a scarlet strapless nightgown-like dress. it is very thin and blows in even the most gentle breezes.
The second layer represented Secundo, Primi's daughter. It is a tight-fitting black tunic and trousers, designed for nighttime operations.
The third layer represented Tertia, Secundo's saughter. It is a series of turquoise belts wrapping around the body at different places.
The Fourth layer represents Quartum, Tertia's daughter. It is a white sleeveless kimono-like dress with vine-like patterns on the sleeves.

She pulled Arlathina up to her feet and started heading back to camp, holding her hand as they silently walked. A few times, Yuhra looked over to Arlathina and smiled at her.

(Amond is a tough cookie to crack. ;-;)

Yuhra and I treaded silently through the forest. Yuhra looked over at me a few times, and smiles flashed upon her face. She grasped my hand, and the only sound was the soft snapping of twigs underneath her feet. For a moment I felt at peace. It was such a nice feeling. Though, before I could really enjoy it Lafarin came bursting from the bushes. He looked at me with a disappointed expression. I felt the pit at the bottom of my stomach begin to expand once more. I knew that when he heard the news of my actions he would disapprove, but his furrowed brow made his usually peaceful features turn into an ugly snarl.

"Arlathina! How dare you! You have dishonored House Dalisia on this day! Queen Dalisia gave her word, how can you claim the right to nullify that?!" Lafarin spat out. He grabbed me by my upper arm and looked me in the eyes. "That was something a coward would do!" His words stung at my heart in a way that only he could manage.

I kept an indifferent facade. "And what would you have had me do, brother?" I looked at him with an angry glare. I once again felt like children pointlessly bickering over the last lisse'loomi. (Elven pastry, it translates to Sweet Cloud.)

"Anything but that Arla! Your mouth is poison. Your mouth is wide." The old saying explained the situation perfectly.

I retorted with a similar riddle. "Your hands can heal, your hands can bruise Lafarin." (Yes they are lines from The Civil Wars, sorry its so cheesy!) He began to chuckle, though it wasn't a display of joy. He let go of my upper arm, and paced back and forth. Lafarin let out a slight sigh, and dragged his hands upward across his face until his hair was pulled back.

"You do not realize the extent of your actions, Hodoer." Unwise one. Lafarin stopped in his tracks and looked over at Yuhra. With his new perspective he abandoned the subject of the Human. "What were you two doing out here?" I felt a small shudder pass through my body as panic began to take root.

"Nothing, we were discussing battle plans while enjoying some hot springs." I may have fabricated a bit, but Lafarin would never know. He answered me with a cautious smile.

"So you have put aside your differences then?" Lafarin seemed genuinely happy about this. "That is fortunate. We can't have quarreling Commanders on the battlefield. It leads to too many problems." For a few seconds an awkward silence imbued the forest, until Yuhra spoke up.

(I hope you don't mind me making your character say this Yuhra! >_< But I gotta move this along!)

"We-" Yuhra began, but before she could complete her sentiment an Elven scout ran through the foliage towards the three of us. He was sweating as if he had been tracking us vigorously for a long time.

He looked at Yuhra with astonishment riddled across his face. "Commander Quartam! There have been two of our brethren seen nearing the Forests." The scout took a moment to catch his breath before continuing. "They will run into the traps if we don't do something!"

A thought struck my head. "How did they leave the Forests? The Queen banned any Elf from leaving the Forests without her direct consent, and I do not know of any missions sent out. Did you identify them?" I questioned the soldier with a pensive gaze. The soldier grew uncomfortable, and began to fidget like a restless child.

"We believe one is a member of House Sicserah, but we have not been able to identify his companion Handmaiden Arlathina." The scout explained to me in a respectful tone. One thought rushed to my head. Many times Endrid had shared the story of her lost brother with me. Endrid would conjure up pictures of her brother, and display them though she had not seen him in over 80 years now. Could it be him? Endrid would be overjoyed, but it made me suspicious. Where has he been all this time? What has he been doing? I wondered to myself.

"Lead us to where you saw them, soldier." The soldier took off at a furious pace. He dodged trees, and twisted through every turn in our path in a brilliant display of acrobatics and flexibility.

As we neared the edge of the Forest, darkness consumed us as the trees grew so close together that not even a sliver of light could penetrate the canopy. The trees formed a protective wall against the outside world. The smell of Druids' magic floated heavily in the area. I reached down into myself, and commanded the Forest to make a path that we could walk through easily. Trees used their roots to drag themselves from their former spots, slowly a path began to construct itself between the ancient beings. We walked through and found ourselves in the surrounding field.

The soldier pointed with his finger south. "There." He stated simply. Lafarin, Yuhra, and I scrutinized the scene. On a beautiful white horse approached a tall Elvish man. He was broader than most other men, and taller also. He has long tresses of white hair that fell down to lower back. His long white bangs concealed much of his face, but I caught a glimpse of a blue eye peering out at us. He wore long flowing white robes similar to what one would wear in an Elven court.

By his side, was another man who was dressed completely in armor. This did not sit well with me. Involuntarily, I began to finger my bow ready to pull it off my back if circumstances called for it. I looked over at Lafarin who was also clutching the hilt of Arget'Evarinya. (Silver Star, Lafarin's sword.) I looked over at Yuhra who stood silently. How suspicious. I thought.

Arlathina let out a cynical laugh. "Do I really seem stereotypical enough to sit on my haunches and debate politics while others die for our cause? You shame me Toror' Orvodil. True, I was born of House Dalisia, as was my brother, but I much rather prefer the blood, sweat, and gore of the battlefield. Especially if it is opposed to nobles with up-turned noses." Arlathina pointed out with a quaint smile.

Lafarin also interjected his opinions. "And I too must inquire as to why we should let you into our forests bearing the insignia of another settlement. You may be nosse, but do we usually let representatives of foreign places stroll into our Forests unperturbed? Perhaps you have not been educated of our stance on this war. Our Forests shall be our sanctuary. No one shall penetrate them, nor shall anyone leave them without Queen Vanira's direct consent." He retorted in a challenging tone. "We stand for the Elven people as a whole. How do we know you have not betrayed us to the Humans? Shall arrows pierce the back of my neck as we walk into the Forest?"

Some of the surrounding men mumbled in agreement, as Arlathina regarded Herion as if he were something she had found stuck to the sole of her shoe. "Lle quena i'lambe tel' Eldalie?" Do you speak Elvish? She said slowly as if talking to a child, but the only response she received was a blank stare. She directed her gaze onto Orvodil, and put her hand on her hip in an expression of impatience. "Lle mellon, manke naa ro tuulo'? Ro holma' ve edanor, ten'ro naa il'ore ta Yaara Lammen." Your friend, where is he from? He smells like humans, and he is not versed in the ancient language. Arlathina questioned Ovordil angrily in the ancient tongue. "Nae ro mor ette lye Taurea?" Was he born outside our Forest? Herion looked at Arlathina with a confused expression, receiving no answer he looked to Orvodil for guidance.

(I wish Yuhra would post more often! :P She barely speaks to her lover anymore. D;)
