Songrose

A vampire...but on who's side?

0 · 130 views · located in Moudrost Village

a character in “The War of Kaiju”, as played by Crystal Flamedance

Description

Songrose is a very old vampire. Not that you'd notice. She looks to be about 20 years of age, instead of the thousands of years old that she really is. She has black hair with dark eyes and pale skin. Her hair is waist-length and She is slim, but shapely, and, in this day and age, generally wears a pair of dark blue jeans with a black long-sleeved, low-cut shirt. She generally wears boots...if she wears anything on her feet at all, as she can often be seen without shoes at all.

Personality

Songrose prefers to keep to herself, which is easy since she can't go out into the daylight. The only real problem she has with hiding during the day is that it makes it harder on her when she wants to help protect the humans; how can they trust someone they don't know? She hates that she has to rely on human blood for survival, and tries to only pick humans that are barely noticed by other villagers, thought that is hard, or people that are threats to exposing the monsters to the other humans, particularly ones from the small insane asylum or the even smaller jail. She only needs blood every few years, because of her age, before she loses her mind and starts attacking any human she can get her hands on.

However, despite all of this, she has a motherly nature, result of her history, and loves to mother the other monsters, even if they don't like it. She can be outgoing, but prefers to help other monsters figure out things by giving hints and helping them learn to solve things on their own, with little help. As for the humans, she doesn't mother them as much because, unlike the monsters, they don't realize just how old and powerful she really is. During those few times when she is around them, she tried to act normal, keeping to herself unless spoken to, and being as polite as she can.

She loves mothering other beings, and feeling like she is needed. To satisfy those needs, she keeps a small garden outside, which she visits once every evening, and once before the sun rises. She reads a lot during the day, seeing as she sleeps little, and does her best to learn as much as she can. When she isn't reading or looking for information, she is either writing down everything she does know to keep it all in one place, should anyone need it, or writing in a journal, accurately recording the events of the day, in case anyone gets curious enough. She has kept this journal for many years, and because of this a lot of the older entries are written on old paper that is yellow and starting to fade. She absolutely hates when people ignore her advice. She has given advice for a reason, you know! But she also hates being on her own, and likes to have company, even if it is the company of other monsters instead of humans.

she has found these humans interesting but, at the same time, fears that should she humans find out what she really is, they won't trust or accept her. She wouldn't know where to go, when this village in particular has been her home for so many years.

Equipment

Songrose keeps little on her person, especially when she is wandering around the village at night. Most of her possessions are left at home, and the only things she carries with her are things that fit in her purse: a small wallet, a small, sketched picture of a small child's head, a pencil, and a piece of paper, folded up. She has the natural speed and strength of a vampire, both amplified by her age. She has also become much more vulnerable to sunlight and fire in her old age, as well as the scent of dead vampire ashes. Her power is to heal wounds, whether they are her own, or another monsters, or even a humans. She can heal them perfectly, so that there are no scars, except when they are close to death; then she either fails, or leaves a largely noticable scar.

History

She grew up in an ancient village, one that has been long since destroyed. It was thrown into war, although with other humans, and not monsters. Only she and a few other women survived the attack, and half of them were pregnant by the enemy, as was normal for that time period. She and the other women had to teach themselves to survive, because they were so dependant on their men to provide food and shelter. Their group was attacked by a vampire, and she was the only one left alive after that attack because, according to that particular vampire, he felt...attached to her. But she only felt hatred for him; in order to convince her to stay by his side, he had killed the child she had been forced to carry, and had become attached to.

She ran from him, finding another, older vampire to teach and train her. With much insistence, she managed to convince her teacher to help her hunt down and kill the other vampire. They did, but at a cost; her teacher died. From that day, she decided she would never support war, or violence. Her power wasn't suited for it, anyway. The pictures of the child that she carries, the sketches and paintings and drawings, are all of her own child, the one she lost all those years ago. She has been unable to move on, still suffering from pain her power can't remove. A vampire's memories are long, and very clear.

She came to live in this village soon after it was created, longing for the nostalgia of her old home. Most of the time, she kept herself hidden in the forest, or in their tiny graveyard. Sometimes, she would live among them, in one of their houses. She took note of the missing humans, but avoided confrontation, even when she caught the scent of another monster. She could afford to let anyone else die, just because she decided to step up. That lack of confrontation stops now, however, when one of those humans brings something to her attention late one night.

Songrose tilted her head to one side curiously, listening closely to their conversation. Normally, she didn't care much for gossip, but this seemed to be of great importance to the entire village, even if they didn't realize it.

"People go missing all the time; they get brave and decided to go into the forest. There's just people like that."

"But there so many more people going missing! We've never lost ten people in one night...this is unheard of!"

"Shh...not so loud...don't worry the younger ones..."

Songrose debated internally for a moment before moving her chair closer to the table where the pair of human women were talking. She ignored their confused, indignant looks to jump into their conversation.

"What do you mean, more are going missing? Isnt it normal for us to lose a handul every year?"

The two women paused, glancing at each other, before one nodded; the one who had insisted something was going on.

"It's normal to lose a handful every year, not ten in one night!"

Songrose suddenly stood up, pushing her chair backto it's original table. She knew that people often went missing to feed the monsters in the forest; that was normal, and a necessary part of their survival. Just as necessary as her need for human blood. But now they were taking it too far. Ten in one night! Something had to be done...but what? Telling the humans would only send them into a panic...but waiting too long to tell them might mean more trouble. Perhaps the monsters were planning something...why else would they need so many people in one night? Usually one every few months was enough to satisfy their hunger, and she doubted they had suddenly gotten a bunch of new monsters to feed; most were territorial, so it was hard to find a large group of monsters in one area.

But enough to take ten in one night? At that rate, the village would soon be gone, as would her home. No, they were definitely planning something. But what? She walked down the street, ignoring the light drizzle as she kept her attention on the ground. She looked up into the forest suddenly, smelling another presence. She briefly took not of a pair of eyes before they vanished, and the smell started to fade away. They were planning something, and she had to make sure the village was ready for anything. She couldn't let this village end up like the one she had grown up in; she had to save it! Maybe now was the time to use her age to her advantage; to convince the monsters to save their prey.

(Human blood...duh?)

So begins...
