Levint's Story

Levint walks up to a tree and sits down in the shade. He had been walking all day and he needed to rest. He rummaged through his bag and pulled out some left over meat he cooked last night. He began to eat and laid back, looking up at the sky and began to relax, dozing off with the leftovers in his hand and his bag open.

Rampion sighed to herself as she stepped out of the trees into a wider space than she'd ever seen. Even the grand foyer of The Manor was smaller than this! She shook her head. Intellectually, great voids where there were no walls, no trees, thousands of times bigger than the rooms and dense forest, she knew they existed. But knowing they were out there and walking out into one were very different beasts. She walked out somewhat further, before she felt a strange rush of panic. It was too open, too wide. She suddenly felt an awful lot smaller. How on earth did she think a foolish, soft girl like her could ever make her way into a world as large as this..? It was probably best if she turned back now, begged Lady Goathe for forgiveness. The tea would need brewing, certainly, especially after this little debacle...

Rampion closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She would not return to The Manor, she would not let herself panic and throw away her newfound freedom. She was at least going to learn about the world beyond first. She opened her eyes and nodded to herself resolutely. Trying not to think about the expanse of the field, she clutched the sheathed sword tighter to her chest, and marched across it. She spotted something near a tree, further along than where she'd came out... Oh heavens.

It was another person.

Another person was sitting under a tree, none too far from Rampion. They were looking up at the sky, and Rampion quickly tried to calculate whether they had seen her, before she turned on her heel and made back for the trees at a brisk walk. She didn't want to call attention to herself, but she most certainly couldn't risk the person seeing her, most certainly. She tripped slightly over a root, but she managed to stumble behind a tree. She breathed a near silent sigh of relief.

Levint woke up some time later, and looked around sleepily. Sitting up slowly, he looked around. His stuff was still there but the meat he was holding had fallen and is now covered in dirt. Levint grabs his bag and ties it closed and gets up. Looking around, he saw a forest and thought to himself "I bet i could find some herbs and animals i could use make dinner." Picking up his bag, he begins to walk towards the forest.

(( Oh noes! We lost someone because I wasn't online! Come back, the more people the better T~T))

One of Melody's ears twitched and she turned towards the direction Rampion had tripped. It was at that moment that she discovered that her special tree was surrounded by ::One...Two...Three:: Three other humans! Was this some form of fate? Was Melody being tested by some God? Turning her attention back to the scary looking knight, Melody lost her footing and fell from the tree, her small bunch of apples falling with her.

As luck would have it she fell on the sleeping form that was eating lunch earlier.

"Oh no." She said to herself, seeming to have forgotten that she had already started a conversation with the knight. "Melody's going to die right here. If not the knight then this meat-eater is surely going to eat Melody." Small tears hit the ends of her green eyes, but even though she was terrified, she still couldn't move. "Why does life hate Melody?"

The moment Levint stood up, he felt something land on him. After hearing what landed on him speak, he reached up and grabbed what landed on him gentle and brought it down to his face. Looking into the green eyes of what looked like a cat, he noticed tears were forming at the edges of its eyes. Speaking in a soft and comforting tone, he said "You don't need to worry, I'm not gonna eat you. Are you ok? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Melody whimpered, trying to calm down as she stared at the man.

"m-Melody's not hurt. Just scared is all." She paused in her speech, taking a moment to study him. "You don't look scary. Are you sure you're not going to eat Melody?" After all that happened, it might be awhile before she can stop speaking in third-person. Once again, she wished she could control her speech better.

"I promise I'm not gonna eat you" Levint replied. Lowering the creature to the ground, he set her down and released her from his grip. Crouching down, He smiled gently and said "My name is Levint. What is your name?"

Melody made a move to run, but as the man - now to be known as Levint - spoke to her, she felt it would be rude to ignore. So, against her instincts she put a paw to her chest and decided to answer him. "Melody is Melody and this is Melody's special tree."

"Thats a nice name Melody. This is a nice tree you have here." Levint said. Looking around, he saw an apple and reached out for it. Brushing the dirt off of the apple on his sleeve and inspected the apple to see if there was any more dirt on it. Extending his hand slowly, he held the apple and asked "Is this your lunch?"

((Ah - Sorry JEDH3. Your characters still sitting there, but Melody tends to have a scatter-brain so she totally forgot about you and started talking to Levint. ^^; I figured since your characters description said that he was quiet in nature, it wouldn't be that big of an issue if he was just sitting there until you came back. Sorry for any confusion~))

Melody stared at the apple that she stole from the village earlier before looking up at Levint. "Melody's sorry for falling on top of Levint." she says as she reaches out and takes the apple from him to start eating.

"Its ok. So long as you're not hurt, everything is fine." Levint said. He sat down in front of Melody and reached into his bag. Pulling his hand out, he has apple in his hand and begins to eat it along with Melody.

((Cheese and crackers why do I keep switching tense? =.= Sorry if I confuse anyone~ Let's just try to stick with past tense xD))

Melody finished her apple rather quickly, starting to relax around the not-so-much-anymore stranger. "Why are you not scared of Melody? Monsters like Melody don't usually talk your language."

Levint was a little thrown off by the question. Melody didn't show any signs of aggression and was scared herself. He actually found it amazing that she could speak. "Well," Levint began to say, "you didnt attack me and you seem pretty nice. I am very amazed you can speak. Where did you learn to talk?"

As she started to calm down and become more accustomed to this stranger, Melody took a deep breath.

"I'm not sure," she started to explain, "the earliest thing I really remember was that I was on that branch up there. For some reason, I could understand both people and monsters, but they all attacked me whenever I got too close so I just listened." She paused and blinked as though having an epiphany. "You think I'm nice?"

"Well, you didn't lash out at me and you apologized about falling on me instead of just running away. So yes, I do think you're nice" Levint replied. He smiled and leaned back, resting against the tree. He was enjoying his conversation with Melody. He hadn't spoken to anyone for months. "So Melody, Are you still hungry?"

The young kitox shook her head, smiling back up at Levint and getting nice and comfortable in his lap.

"No. I'm fine. I've been eating for awhile and I'm used to not getting a lot at one time."

Levint rested his hand on Melody's back. Her fur was soft and he started to pet her slowly. "So, long have you lived out here all by yourself Melody?" Levint asked.

"hm..." Melody had to think about that one for a bit, mulling the question in her head as her tail swayed gently. "I would say about 11 or so years. That's almost all my life, or at least as much as I can remember. Though, I can't promise that I'm getting your calendar right."

"Alright" Levint responded. He continued to pet Melody's back gently. He liked Melody. She was nice and seemed to be lonely. She said she was attacked by people and monsters alike. "Hey Melody, would you like to travel with me? I know this tree is your home and I understand if you say no. I thought it would nice having a travelling companion and i would enjoy your company."

"Yes!" Melody knew she answered too soon but Levint was the first person she could possibly consider a friend. She wasn't about to let something so important go. "Melody's always wanted to travel but Melody was scared that she wouldn't be able to find food on her own." There she went, talking in third-person again. She couldn't help herself, really. She just got so excited.
