Family:
Jane lives with her father, Adrian Lynch and step-mother, Nicole Reeve-Lynch. Her mother, Laura Beck, is now married to Christopher Beck and they have a 2-year-old son, Greyson, together.

Jane's relationships with her mother and step-father are strong, but the pair and their son live in Los Angeles, so she only sees them a few times a year. Although she often claims that she would be much better off living with them, the fact that she doesn't see them very often probably contributes to their positive relationship. Jane's attitude and lifestyle make it hard for her to have a healthy relationships with the people in charge of her. Laura is a concert pianist and Christopher is a retired professional baseball player.

Adrian has primary guardianship of Jane, so her relationship with him and his second wife of two years is more prominent and notably, is generally poor. He's a business tycoon and the 13th wealthiest person in the world, with a net worth of 37 billion dollars. Adrian is the chairman and CEO of LMVH, a French multinational luxury goods conglomerate, which incorporates various well known brands such as Marc Jacobs, Sephora, Hennessy, Dior, Donna Karen, Cรฉline and Bulgari. Her father is of French nationality but moved to New York when he divorced Jane's mother when she was two years old. He was forced to temporarily relocate to the states due to a custody order, but after it was worked out, he decided to purchase a permanent home in New York. Since then, he travels back to his company's Paris headquarters two or three times a month but does most of his business in Manhattan. Despite this, he never had enough time, or as Jane believed, desire, to invest his energy in her upbringing. Their relationship was always minimal. until she hit her teenage years and he was no longer able to ignore her bratty and rebellious attitude. From then on, it consisted of little more than yelling and screaming, and making empty threats to empty her bank account.

Home Life:
Adrian and Laura met when they were in their 20's. She was a student at Juliard in New York City, and he was visiting a cousin who happened to attend the school as well. They fell in love and after she graduated, she moved to France where they continued dating, and eventually eloped. They had been married for a few weeks when they intentionally conceived a child. They were young and in love and ready to start a family together and for the first few months, everything seemed wonderful. However, by the time Jane was born, it was apparent that they had moved too quickly. Adrian's work life was consuming him, Laura missed her family and life in the states, and neither were prepared to put their lives on hold to care for the baby. Their divorce was finalized when Jane was a year old and luckily, it was completely civil. They agreed that Jane would reside with Adrian on a regular basis, but Laura had visitation rights and it essentially worked as more of shared custody than anything.

In order to allow Laura regular contact with Jane, Adrian purchased a penthouse in New York where Jane was raised. Although it was her father's apartment, he wasn't the one there caring for the toddler day in and day out. Those duties were given to an assortment of nannies and caregivers who did everything from make her breakfast in the morning, to teaching her how to ride a bike. She never developed a close emotional relationship with her father and he tended to express his love through gifts. Jane would wake up in the morning and instead of being greeted by her father, she would find a new Tiffany bracelet waiting for her. It sounds great, and Jane would never complain about the gifts, but she did want to know her father.

A few weeks after she turned fifteen, she found out via text that her father had impulsively married a mediocre "aspiring actress", Nicole, who he had been dating for a few months during their trip to Italy. Jane wanted no part in the woman, despite her attempts to reach out and become involved in Jane's life. She was already comfortable with having no authoritative parents in her life and wasn't about to open up to some girl who was old enough to be her sister. After a few screaming matches with between the two, Nicole mostly gave up on trying to befriend Jane the two avoid each other more than anything now.

The biggest struggle that Jane has faced in her life is the eating disorder that she was diagnosed with at age fourteen. Looking back, she knows it's something that's been around since she was a child, but it started to become debilitating in her teen years. Her father was forced to acknowledge it when she fainted one day at school and was sent to a hospital to be examined. Since then, she has been forced to see a psychiatrist regularly. Things seemed to be okay for a few years, but last spring she took a turn for the worse and hit a dangerously low weight which her forced into the Timberline Knolls treatment facility in Illinois. At that point in her life, she probably would have ran away if she knew she was being sent there, so her father convinced her that they were going on a weekend trip to Chicago to force her to the center. It worked, but left Jane with no time to give any of her friends an explanation for why she would be falling off the face of the earth for the two months of summer.

Academic Career:
"School is hell on earth. Definitely not my favorite place to be."
Jane might be the perfect example of money equaling power, because it's apparent to nearly everyone who goes to Constance that there's no way she would have been admitted to the school if it wasn't for her family's money. She struggles to maintain a GPA over a 2.0 and seems to be on the brink of failing every class besides French. It's her father's native tongue and the fact that she's bilingual is probably the only strength she has academically when compared to her bright peers. She does not participate in any sports but reluctantly joined the French club upon Sydney's request.

Future Plans:
Jane doesn't want to go to college and probably will probably end up taking at least one year off after high school, but is being forced to apply to a few big-name schools just to appease her father. She is considering moving to LA next year and getting an apartment near her mother's house. Her biggest goal right now is to get healthy.

Personality:
Jane comes from wealth and isn't afraid to flaunt it. She fits the bill of your typical trust fund baby - the girl who has never had to work a day in her life and never will have to. She has daddy funding her credit card with a seemingly unlimited pile of money at the other end, and never hesitates to splurge on a new pair of Chanel boots that she just has to have. A lot of her friends also come from money, but few of their parents are worth the 37 billion dollars that her father is valued at. Although she is obsessed with having the newest and nicest everything, shopping has become more than just getting new things for Jane. It's therapeutic for her, a way to distract herself from any problems or stress going on in her life. Though it's helping in the short term, it's apparent that her reckless spending habits keep her distanced from the real world.

She can be shallow, often judging people based on their appearance and the little information that she's heard about them through gossip. While she probably would talk about them behind their back, she wouldn't normally bully or taunt anyone to their face. She claims that it's okay to be a bitch, but not to be mean and when it comes to gossip, she's more of a follower than the mastermind behind it. Although she doesn't mind contributing to the rumors circulating about other people, she does become very emotional when ones start spreading about her. She's sensitive to criticism and is usually the girl who ends up hysterically crying about a problems from months ago after a night of drinking. Her biggest insecurity is her weight. She has been diagnosed with an eating disorder and although she recognizes that she's statistically underweight, it doesn't change the way that she feels about her body.

As a child, Jane developed an obsession with Veruca Salt, a fictional character from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Although she knew that the way the girl acted wasn't pleasant or admirable, she envied that she was able to get whatever she wanted, like Jane did, but also had her father and her beck and call, which Jane didn't. In some ways, Jane mirrored Veruca's demanding and insolent ways and even now that she's no longer bratty in that way, she still expects to get her way in most situations and will never hesitate to complain if something isn't up to par.

Despite the flaws, Jane is loyal to her friends. She's affectionate, reliable and warm, but her impulsive and absentmindedness can sometimes get the best of her. When she's in a moment of gossiping and isn't thinking thoroughly, she's known to accidentally air her friend's secrets to other people, but now that there's a new Gossip Girl, she's working on keeping her mouth shut more.

In almost every area of her life, it's clear that Jane is impulsive. Whether it's buying thousands of dollars worth of clothes in one day or drinking herself into a blackout state, it's hard for her to control herself when she's in the mood to indulge in something. She can be reckless and make stupid choices, but her friends can all agree that she's always a fun person to have around. She's spontaneous, bold and energetic, always being up for a night out or an adventure.

ImageFace Claim:
Kendall Jenner

Build:
At 5'10 and 117 lbs, Jane is considerably thin and is medically underweight, though that is to be expected of someone under her circumstance. It's an increase from the 110 lbs she was a few months ago, which is something that she's unfortunately being forced to adjust to. Her height is one of her most noticeable traits and one of her least liked, since she feels like a giant compared to her friends whenever she wears heels. No matter how small or large she gets, she's come to terms with the fact that she will always be insecure about her figure.

Hair Color:
Brown, natural

Eye Color:
Brown

Other:
She only has her ears pierced once each, but simply because she's too scared of needles to go through with getting the second holes. Similarly, she has no tattoos at the moment and is only against getting one because she's scared of the needle.

So begins...

Sydney had nearly tuned completely out of her surroundings as she opened up Sienna's text. She didn't think that Carolina was going to say anything noteworthy, and knew that whatever Sienna had to say would be far more intriguing than the stepsisters saying their goodbyes. Sydney scanned Sienna's text, and was quickly rubbed the wrong way by it. Who did Sienna think she was to blame her for spilling Jane's secret, as if she would ever do that? And to Victoria of all people? Sydney's expression turned to a glare just thinking about it. What about Sienna? She was the one who was welcoming all of these new people into her circle. Carolina, Charlotte, Rosie. Who's to say that Sienna didn't share that with them, and they leaked it to Victoria! After what Carolina had just said, it was obvious that she knew just as much, if not more, about Jane's situation than they knew, and that she didn't care to be sensitive about it either. Carolina was a loser, Victoria was a loser, who was to say that the two of them didn't talk to each other? Besides that, Sydney had seen Victoria hanging out with Sienna during Charlotte's event. Could this be another situation where Sienna started drama and then spun it around to act like she didn't start it, but was actually the hero reconciling it? Sydney was now beginning to think so.

To: Sienna
Interesting

"Oh my God, I hate her so much. Did you even hear what she just said to me?" Jane exclaimed, noticing that Sydney was silent and staring at her iPhone. She pulled her arm free from the blondes and defensively wrapped one arm around her own waist.

Sydney looked up as she slipped her phone into her bag. She hadn't confirmed or denied whether she would join the girls at Sienna's the next night, because she honestly wasn't sure if she was going to or not. Though it would probably look better for all of their images to act as if they had patched up their friendship, Sydney didn't think she wanted it to be done on Sienna's terms. At the same time, this wasn't really on Sienna's terms. It was to protect Jane, apparently, or at least to take down someone who thought she had more power than she did. In an attempt to cover up for not paying attention, Sydney opted to dismiss Jane's reaction as a dramatic overreaction. "Please, Jane. You really care about what she says? She's one of the most irrelevant people in Manhattan, so it's beyond me why you would even care about what she says. I mean, you feel fine today, right? We had lunch together and we're going to get dinner together tonight. As long as you keep focusing on being healthy, there won't be anything to worry about."

"Why would she say that?" If anything was going to break Jane's good mood, it was the nasty comment that Carolina left her with. Jane was the type of person who never really thought anything was her fault, but she felt like the victim now more than ever. She didn't think that she had been particularly mean to Carolina, and even the way that Sydney treated her wasn't incredibly mean, especially for Sydney. Though the "why would she say that?" was relevant to her wondering why Carolina would be so mean, she had no doubt that her being somewhat healthy today was showing, just as Carolina claimed it was. She could suddenly feel the waistband of her skirt tightening around her stomach and as she looked down, she was sure that her arm looked ten times larger than it had a day before.

"Because she's jealous of you, Jane. It's that simple." Sydney hadn't heard enough of what Carolina had said to give a better response than that. While she had planned on informing Jane of what Sienna had shared, that Victoria had somehow found out about her secret, it was clearly out of the question now. Jane was breaking down over a comment by a girl that no one cared about, so her finding out that someone unexpected had heard about her disorder wouldn't sit well, especially when Sydney actually wanted to get things done today. She linked her arm around Jane's once again and forced her to walk with her off campus.

Jane was able to walk for a minute or so, but though she was quiet, her mind was racing. She was berating herself for being so stupid, for allowing herself to think that she could eat and feel good, and that would be the end of it. It was never that easy and she should have known that when she scarfed down her lunch. "I need to go home." All she wanted to do now was hide in bed, or spend the rest of the evening in her building's fitness center.

Sydney stopped in her tracks. This inconvenience that Carolina had caused her gave her half a mind to send out some minion to find some dirt on the girl and ruin whatever minute social profile she had. It seemed like it would be easier than consoling the frenzied Jane. With a sigh, she grabbed onto both of Jane's hands and looked her in the eye. "No. You're being dramatic. We all have problems, Jane, and what Carolina, whatever her last name is, has to say, shouldn't mean enough to you to even be considered a problem. You're my best friend and you're gorgeous, okay? You look perfect, now let's go. We have things to do and people to see, and we're not going to let some nobody ruin that for us."

"I'm just coming for Tiffany's and then I'm going home, okay?" A little retail therapy might help her mood, but having to listen to Sydney go on about Sienna and Piper, and then have to deal with sitting through dinner was not going to happen. It just wasn't, and while Jane knew she couldn't get away with leaving Sydney right there, like she wanted, she wasn't going to let the blonde run things entirely her way.

Sydney didn't respond to Jane verbally, but simply smiled, squeezed her hands, and then kept walking. As she was going, she pulled out her phone and followed up her last text to Sienna with one more, that definitely seemed necessary now.

To: Sienna
Btw, I'm not dumb enough to share personal info during "pillow talks" with ppl like Victoria Walsh, and idk why you think i would be talking to her about drugs. Maybe your new bff Carolina told her. Wouldn't surprise me considering how much of a bully she is.

Lottie sucked in her stomach as she had her sister start untie the corset for her photo shoot. The twins got to leave an hour before the end of school, Lottie because it was her first huge nationwide campaign and Rosie because... Well, she could. The two were talking about their dresses for Piper's party and, of course. Lottie was having second thoughts. "I think you're over thinking it. You look amazing in your dress. Seriously, you look so hot you put of us to shame!" Rosie said as she untied Lottie's corset behind the white curtain of her photo shoot. Lottie sighed as she sucked in a bit more to allow her sister a little more room to untie the back. "I don't know, you don't think it's too much? I mean, I don't wanna draw too much attention." Rosie just scoffed as she shook her head. "Honey, please. You could wear swears and a tank and you'd still take all of the attention." Rosie finally got it off as Lottie was now able breath and change into her last outfit, a lacy black lingerie set that was cut in the middle showing her cleavage but had darker areas over her breasts along with a pair of black heels to finish off the 'dark angel' look that she was no getting known for. Her makeup for the look was already complete with a dark smokey eye, ruby red lips, and her jawline contoured to the extreme to sharpen out her features even more than natural. "That is not true!" Lottie scoffed herself as she looked away from the mirror to look towards her sister who just had her hands on her hips. "Oh, it isn't? So, you don't think you could get any guy looking like this?" She pointed towards Lottie and her outfit before Lottie shook her head as she grabbed her phone to read the text only to respond to Jane and Sienna..

      To : Jane
Aw, look at you bein' a good student! <3 And, yea just those two.

      To : Sienna
Yea, definitely! I'm still iffy about the dress btw, I need advice.

As she looked at her phone she answered her sister. "Not the ones that matter." The older twin said before she started to walk away. Rosie groaned before grabbing her sister's wrist. "If you takin' 'bout Connor, he's an idiot. So, don't even worry 'bout him. Okay? 'Sides, you could literally get any other guy you want. I mean, you got Brent." Rosie smirked as Lottie grabbed her wrist back and groaned at her sister's last sentence. Ugh, Brent. She still had to deal with that freakin' rumor!

And Brent teasing her about it didn't help anything, not to mention now she was hesitate to be around him. What if he was the one behind the rumor and all he wanted to do was sabotage her reputation and credibility. He's not above it denying it but, part of her felt like that wasn't true. Brent was a lot of things but, he didn't hate her enough to start a rumor like that to try and destroy her reputation. She walked towards the set where a close male model friend of hers, Marlon already laying down on a small sofa shirtless and a white background. The Southern Belle could hear Aquilo's song, You There playing softly in the background as she fixed her blonde locks only to hear Marlon whistle towards her as he sat up to look towards her. "Damn! I knew you had a good body but, goddamn!" She chuckled and tried to hide the blush forming on her cheeks. She walked over with her heels clicking against the wooden floors just as their photographer, Nigel fixed him camera to look at the two. "Alright guys, I want you to to act like you're madly in love, like you can't live without each other. Make me feel the spark, the passion!" Rosie chuckled as she walked next to Nigel to stay out of the way. "Just imagine Brent." Lottie rolled her eyes as she started to walk towards Marlon who started laying back down. "Aw, my princess already has a Prince Charming?"[/color] Lottie shook her head and scoffed. "In his dreams maybe. 'Sides, he's like a frog prince." The blonde smirked before hesitantly lying on Marlon's chest. she could feel him shift a bit. She flipped her hair a bit before closing her eyes and allow the two of them t just work together. Her arms laid on his chest as his hands went into her blonde hair, softly gripping on it. She could feel her heart racing, she was never good at this part, sure she could hide it but she was terrible when it came to being around male models. For the next thirty minutes or so, the pair worked together and their last picture was of him grip her chin softly about to going in for a kiss. It ended a few centimeters before their lips meant, Lottie may had been a model but, she still wanted her first kiss to mean something more than a paycheck. She wanted it to be amazing and it wouldn't be if she did it with someone she rarely saw.

"Wonderful, you two! The photos should be ready in a couple of weeks and that's a wrap." Lottie smiled and nodded before looking towards Marlon who walked by her with a smirk and winked. "See you later, angel." Lottie blushed before being pulled to the dressing room by her sister. "Boy, I'll tell ya somethin'. That boy is hotter than bacon sizzlin' on a skillet." Lottie just chuckled and nodded as she started to get undressed and slid her outfit back on. She slid the outfit in her bag, seeing that the designer said it was hers to keep even though she'd probably never wear it. The twins started to walk out as they waved towards Nigel and Marlon. They got into their car before feeling it pull away from the curb. The two were on their phones as the car drove. Lottie saw a few messages but, one in particular caught her eye and that was one from Kelley. With a raised eyebrow she opened the message before groaning and rubbing her temples for a moment. She grabbed her phone from the seat next to her and replied.

      To : Kelley
Fine, whatever and you better be or I'll have to remove you from the list of people. Don't make me be that person. Oh and Yeaaaaa, no. I'm gonna have to pass on the invite, sides he's not my boyfriend. You spend more time with him than I do, maybe you two got somethin to hide. ;)

She smirked at her message before sending it and going back to her game of Candy Crush. "Hey, let's stop at that new Chinese place near the loft." Rosie offered, which of course was Lottie's weakness. She groaned. "I don't know, I don't really need that much fat in my body--.."[/b] Rose groaned. "C'mon! Please. You know you wanna! 'Sides, I already ordered the food." She had her puppy eyes on, trying to guilt Lottie. And it worked. The girl sighed before looking back at her sister. "Fine, I guess we can."[/b] Rose squealed in delight before opening the partition to speak to Linn. "You can drop us off right here, we're gonna get some food from right here. We'll walk the rest." Linn nodded as he got out to open their door, letting the two out as the walked down the street to go get their pickup order. Rose swiped her card and paid as Lottie grabbed one of the two bags. Just as she did, she groaned at the name that appeared on her phone. Brent. Of course. She sighed sharply.

      To : Barclay
K, idk how long you're gonna ride this out but, it's seriously getting old. 'Sides, isn't Kelley getting tired of you flirting with me and wishing you were actually with me while she's right there and doesn't Tori want a different story by now?

She had no idea if Tori and Brent were fucking around. Did she care? No. Did she honestly want to know? No. But, did it give her a small ping of jealousy deep, deep, deep down knowing that now he was texting all these other, smaller, prettier girls?.... Maybe a tiny bit. When the two walked out, she looked up from her phone to see no one other than Barclay in the flesh. "Shit."

      "What?"

"Look who's right there." She said in a hushed tone. Rose looked to see Brent. "Aw, it's the second half of the cutest couple ever." Lottie scoffed before rolling her eyes. "As if! I can't be seen around him, what if someone takes another picture." Rose looked at her sister in all seriousness. "Who's gonna do that? And you can't hide from him forever."

"I am not hiding! I just can't be seen around him or talkin' to him anymore." Rosie shook her head. "Got it, you can't talk to him." The younger twin nodded. "Don't mean I can't for you."

      "Wait, what?"

"Hey, Brent! How long are you gonna pretend to be datin' my darlin' sister here, before you actually get the balls to ask her out for real?" Lottie kept walking as they passed him while Rose stopped next to him with a smirk on her face. Lottie rolled her eyes as she looked for her key. Of course, she gave it to Rose for safe keeping. "Rose, you have my key." Rose held it up like a prize. "I know. So, really Brent. Why don't you ask Cinderella here to the ball?" Lottie readjusted all the bags on her arm as she kept her eyes up in an eye roll as she looked towards her sister. "'Cuz, don't you need to be a prince or... I don't know, a productive member of society to even get in there?" Lottie asked with a raised eyebrow as she looked at Brent, still keeping an eye out for any people who might be trying 'f' her over again.

As she walked silently next to Sydney, Jane couldn't quiet her mind that was replaying the words that Carolina had said. There was no denying that Jane hadn't been nice to Carolina since she moved in, but nothing that she had said was as personal and vicious as what Carolina had just said to her. It was possibly the only thing that Carolina could have said to genuinely offend Jane. Anything else, and she would have followed what Sydney had said and just brushed it off because Carolina wasn't cool, and her opinion on almost anything else meant nothing to Jane. But her weight and appearance... those were things that Jane worried about every minute of every day. Today, of all days, it hit harder because Jane had made strides in being better. The benefits of being healthy and eating an amount that actually allowed her body to function seemed great physically, but this was a perfect reminder of why she couldn't do that. "I really want to go home, Syd. I don't need anything from Tiffany's. Can't we just meet up later? Please?"

"You don't need anything from Tiffany's? Are you joking, Jane?" Since when did Jane, of all people, turn down a trip to go shopping. Was she seriously this bothered by what Carolina had said to her? Sydney knew how serious Jane's illness was, but she didn't want Jane to be sick. Not only for Jane's own health, but because she didn't want it to interfere with her own life like this. "No, we cannot meet up later. I'm not going to let you run home and cry just because that nobody said one mean thing to you. The only things that are going to make you feel better are shopping and reminding yourself that that girl is ugly, un-liked and unimportant."

"I'm not in the mood to shop. I'm really tired and I just want to go to bed. Please? Can't we do this tomorrow?" She knew that the answer was going to be no, but Jane really had no energy left to go shopping. All she could see herself doing was curling up under a mass of blankets and sleeping for the rest of the school year. At this point, she didn't even want to think of how she would look in the dress she had picked out for Piper's party, so shopping for jewelry seemed useless.

"Absolutely not! I will not let you do this to yourself. Do you want your dad to think you're still sick? If you even let her think that she's gotten to you, that you care, it's just going to show that you're not where you need to be. You're doing great, okay? You're fine and you look amazing, now stop being so dramatic."

Jane had paused in front of her building as Sydney went on with her rant over why she couldn't skip out on the shopping trip. She was lucky that her house was on the way, because suddenly, she could feel her emotions wanting to make themselves physical. "I need to go home. I'm sorry, I just can't right now." She could feel her lip trembling as she spoke, but had spun around and darted into the hotel's lobby before she even finished speaking.

"Jane!" Sydney called out, but it was to no avail. The brunette was already hurrying through the door held open by the hotel's doorman. Sydney was not used to being ditched, and even less used to having to chase people. So she didn't. She just stood in place for a moment, shocked that Jane had the nerve to just abandon her like that. It was probably selfish of her to not even consider that Jane had to be very upset, to an out-of-character extent, to leave her and an afternoon of shopping, but all Sydney could think about was being ditched. After everything that she had been through since school started, the last thing she needed was for Jane to be deserting her too. It seemed insensitive and downright unfair, but after a moment of self-pity and shock, Sydney simply turned around and texted her driver to meet her at the end of the block.

To: Sienna
I'll see if I can make it. Don't count on either of us as definites though.

To: Sienna
And if you really wanted to look out for "your girl" you wouldn't be friend with that loser. Don't worry about me hurting Jane since your loser bff already has her crying.

To: Jane
I can't believe you.

To: Victoria

Sienna simply grabbed a black Givenchy, took one final look at the light make-up she had applied to her face, and was ready to go. She scooped up her phone on the way out and was literally out the door, unlocking her phone's screen in order to respond to the text messages that she had received. She also picked up a bad she had meaning to give Jane. Granted, she didn't validate Sydney's last comments because it was unnecessary to do so. Why give her the satisfaction of Sienna attempting to plead her case? She didn't owe Sydney anything. Sienna had, in a way, apologized about the post. But Sydney had destroyed their relationship years ago and Sienna had feigned ignorance until it was too much. Besides, Sienna didn't need to justify anything, even as she had felt herself slowly descent into this space where...where she reveled in knowing that she was gunning for Tori's livelihood. Because at the end of the day, unlike Sydney, Sienna was not making moves just to screw someone over because they insulted her shoes. Sienna's actions were for a friend and that would come to light later. Plus, Jane had to know Sienna loved her enough to do so, right?

To: Carolina
Hey, J is still my bae. I treat that 1 w/ nothing but love. And don't make lite of wats going on w/ her. Bitchy or not, sickness is nothing 2 joke about and she was really bad b4 the summer. The last thing I need is 4 her to take matters even more into her own hands like actually refusing 2 eat 4 days. Don't know how I'd feel about my girl in a hospital

To: Vincent
Okie dokie, I'll be there soon

With no response from Charlotte yet, Sienna hurried down to the garage, a last minute decision considering where she was going. She didn't make it a habit of visiting Kelley and if they were meeting up at the blonde's place, then it would be better to not show up in the typical car. Everyone would know Sienna had to have been there and honestly, she didn't feel like answering anyone's questions. Maybe her Madam President's, but not anyone else's, not even Jane's. After convincing her driver to take the truck instead of the usual town car (it was her brother's, who would probably be mad but Sienna couldn't care when he wasn't even in the country), she sat back comfortably in the lush backseat, deciding to check in on Jane.

To: Jane
R u feeling so bad rite now that my driver & I can't drop off this Cartier love set?

To: Carolina
Also, evry1 knows that Syd & I aren't friends rite now. She fucked up, expects ppl 2 excuse her, and honestly, i'm done waiting 4 validation from her. I've got more going on in my life than she ever will & I shouldn't have 2 continuously b the one making shit up 2 her.

To: Piper
I'm gonna try 2 stay w/ her for a few, but could u check in on J? She's not feeling 2 well

On the way to Jane's place, Sienna passed the time being on Tumblr and Twitter, going into a tweet war with Selena Gomez over the Cosmos for Latina Awards Dinner they had both gone to and about who had dressed better (Sienna arguing for Selena and Selena arguing for Sienna). Before long, she was outside of the Lynch residence and after telling her driver to wait for a bit, Sienna slid out of the vehicle and entered the lobby. She tossed a smile at the guard at the front desk, a familiar face, before traipsing over to the elevator, pressing the buzzer for someone to let her in. She actually didn't anticipate Jane coming to the door, instead banking on texting one of the house maids. She had gotten the older woman's number on a hunch, because she knew that when Jane didn't want to talk to people or be forced to do so, it was better to just bardge right on in. So, it only took a few for the elevator to come down for her and before Sienna knew it, she was standing in the lobby of the Lynch family's penthouse.

To: Jane
J, don't make me jump u in ur room. Come on, I have a present & love 2 shower on u

As she slammed her finger against the "close door" button of the elevator, Jane was sure that half of the tears that were streaming down her cheeks were over the comment Carolina made, and the other half, over how mad she suspected Sydney was now going to be at her. She didn't want any more drama, and like always, Jane wanted to appease Sydney and just do what the blonde said to avoid problems, but this was probably the only issue that overrode what Sydney wanted. She couldn't deal with the idea of looking fat, of people being able to see that she had gained any weight at all. If that was the case, she was more than willing to just lock herself in her room for the rest of her life.

"Good afternoon, Miss Lynch. May I take your bag?" A male housekeeper asked as she stepped out of the elevator. He was unfamiliar to Jane, probably a part of the new staff that Nicole had hired, but Jane wasn't going to make a good impression today. She chucked her school bag at the young man without saying a word, and ran past him, making a beeline for her bedroom. It was a good thing that she didn't pass Nicole or Carolina on her way there, because Jane was feeling more unstable than ever. If she didn't say something or do something offensive enough to actually get them to leave, she'd do something that would get her in trouble with her father. Instead, she found her bedroom looking more welcoming than ever and after quickly swapping her contacts out for glasses, and tossing off her shoes, she buried herself under the blankets on her bed. She had no plans to reemerge ever, so when Linda, one of her older housekeepers came through over the intercom, telling her that a friend was here to see her, Jane didn't even react. She assumed that it was Sydney, just because she didn't think that Sienna and Piper were around. Then again, it shouldn't have seemed likely that it was Sydney at all, considering that Sydney never chased anyone. She could be comforting when she wanted to be, but those moments seemed rare and fleeting. Besides, Jane had just ditched her, and regardless of what Jane was upset over, in Sydney's mind, that probably constituted Jane apologizing to her intensely.

Linda's voice came over again, and this time, Jane did stir from her bed, but only to grab her phone from her nightstand. She wanted to just text Sydney and tell her to go, lie and tell her that she was sick and literally couldn't get out of bed. Before she could start to text Sydney, she found that Sienna had texted her, though, and after reading it, it was clear that she was the friend who was waiting downstairs for her. Could Jane really turn down a Cartier love set, without even having to leave her home? It went against her nature, but she was still feeling disgusted with herself, and began to type out that message to Sienna. Halfway through, and Linda was back on, saying that she was going to send Sienna up to her bedroom, and Sienna sent her another message.

Yanking her comforter off of her bed and wrapping the heavy, white blanket around her like a burrito, she sluggishly made her way out of her bedroom and downstairs to the house's foyer. "Where are you going?" Jane hadn't planned on making conversation, and really just wanted to take her gift, continue the probably unbelievable lie that she was sick, and go back to bed, but being unsocial was hard for her. Besides, seeing Sienna dolled up suggested that there was something going on tonight, and Jane was still a bit curious about the claims that Sydney had made about Sienna having new friends now.

Sienna hadn't fully thought the seeing Jane idea through when she had decided to drop her gift for the brunette off. It had just been a desire to see how her best friend was and give her something before Sienna officially forgot. But, as she waited (just a bit impatiently) for the brunette to tear herself away from whatever she was doing (probably sulking for whatever reason), she realized that she wasn't exactly...coming-to-see-a-friend-because-I-can dressed. And it threw her off guard for a second when even Jane asked as she appeared. She blinked for a moment before smiling brightly, arms wide for the brunette because Jane was pale and she looked like she had cried and Sienna hated seeing her look like that.

"Don't I get a hug first?" Sienna exclaimed before engulfing the blanket-clad girl in a tight embrace before pulling back, reigning in her thoughts as best as she could as the words fell off her tongue nonchalantly, "Dinner party with mom's friends. Trust, if it didn't feel like she was going through menopause and my ass wasn't on the line, I'd be at home in sweats or begging you to stay over. So, now I gotta go play obedient daughter and smile it up to some former debutante and her pimple-faced brat." That came out easier than she intended, but Sienna went with it. It wasn't an off thing for Sienna to attend dinner nights with her mother and a few old friends. It was just rare that those friends happened to be the parents and relatives of Vincent Mast whom Sienna was technically dating despite not supposed to be dating - and having not told anyone about. It was enough to make her want to raid the penthouse's liquor cabinets like she had plenty of nights before when she and Jane had been way too emotional for her own good. Leading Sienna to have said words that eventually would get back to Sydney. Which now made it absolutely impossible for Sienna to be honest now.

Sienna loved Jane. Above a lot of people on the Upper East Side, Jane was one of Sienna's most beloved friends. A handful at times, Jane had always been there in her own little way. A bit selfish at times and demanding and always dragging Sienna to every party she could find or every store she needed to vent her way through, but Sienna had always acquiesced. She loved it. She loved their time together. She loved how fun Jane was and how carefree she seemed, and that was why it had hurt Sienna when she found out about Jane's illness. On the one hand, she wished Jane had felt comfortable with her enough to share such details. But also...Sienna hadn't noticed. However, another part of Sienna's brain focused in on the fact that she needed to focus on Jane and not spill anything. No matter how close the two were, Jane still had a habit of running her mouth and now was not the time for that.

"Anywaaaaaay," she continued while holding up the bag for Jane, "I thought I'd be an awesome friend since I heard you weren't feeling well and last I checked, Jane Lynch has never turned down a gift." Handing the present to her friend, Sienna's face turned concerned as she asked, "What's wrong, babe?"

Jane nodded understandingly as Sienna outlined her evening plans. Dinner parties were far too common in the Upper East Side for her to suspect that anything was up, even with the seeds of suspicion that Sydney had tried to plant in her head. This event, made it more clear than ever, that Sienna was such a good friend. She wouldn't lie to Jane, she wouldn't ditch Jane, and she certainly wouldn't replace Jane. In an afternoon that had quickly plummeted mood-wise, that thought was reassuring. "I'm sure they'll be wine there, at least," she offered, trying to sound positive as her eyes roved over Sienna's form once again. It was inexplicable how Jane could be jealous of Sienna's body, yet cower at the idea of developing even slight curves on her own body. Sienna was a small girl, there was no denying that, but she definitely had more shape than Jane. Her body fat percentage was probably also pretty low, but she had a body that could be lusted over by more than just girls who wanted to fit in a crop top, like Jane's body admirers seemed to be. She knew that Sienna had insecurities, but she always seemed so well put together. Even if she was sobbing over Vincent, makeup running down her face and donning sweats, she still looked good, maybe even better than Jane felt on her best day. It was a feeling that every girl probably had, but for Jane, it was intensified. So much so, that she was seriously considering staying in her room for the rest of her life.

Had she been feeling better, Jane probably would have squealed with excitement at the sight of a gift for her. For a girl who could buy anything her heart desired, it was probably unnecessary for her to get so elated over gifts, but Jane liked material items, surprises and affection, so being gifted things was the best way to her heart. She did offer a genuine smile and an exuberant, "I love you," but opted not to rummage through the bag until Sienna was gone. "And since fashion week started today, I have like a million things my dad brought home from all of the fall collections, so I promise your love will be repaid next time you come over." Moments before, she realized that that was probably why she hadn't been bothered by Nicole within minutes of returning home. She was probably with Adrian at one of the first shows of the week, or at some party or event for it.

Her smile faded when Sienna looked at her with more concern, and Jane tucked her extended arm, now holding the gift bag, back under the security of her blanket. "Nothing, I'm just tired. Some of us had school today," she responded, mustering a weak smile reappearing at the remark. Jane couldn't be one to talk on the matter of missing school. The previous year, especially towards the end, it seemed like she had been absent more than she had been present, but today she had decided to be somewhat studious, and she'd use that as an excuse for being playfully judgmental. She wanted to leave it at just that, because she didn't want to even think about how horrible she had felt before Sienna arrived, but Jane was emotional and dramatic and couldn't stop herself from continuing. "And I hate your ugly, disgusting, loser of a friend Carolina, and Sydney's probably going to kill me because I ditched her in the middle of our trip to Tiffany's but I just didn't feel good enough to be out, and I don't think I'm going to go to Piper's party tomorrow, so you don't have to let Sydney come to your house anymore if you don't want to." She was unaware that the two blondes had already discussed the next evening's plans, considering that Sydney was on the opposite end of the secret-keeping spectrum as Jane was with social matters. While she knew that missing Piper's party was probably uncalled for and probably even rude with it being only a day away, Jane was completely turned off by the idea of having to dress up and socialize now. She loved socializing, she loved parties, she loved nice clothes and getting her makeup done, and she certainly loved alcohol, so deciding to miss out on a night including all of those felt strange, even to her, but it didn't seem plausible. She wanted to believe that she could go the rest of the night and all school day tomorrow without eating, and though she'd probably break somewhere along the line and munch on a stick of celery or a granola bar, she definitely wasn't planning on eating enough to have actual energy. She could get away with eating a couple hundred calories a day if it involved laying in bed for most of it and not moving, and at this point, after Carolina claiming that she looked like she had eaten, that seemed like her best bet.

Sienna had remained silent in the middle of Jane's explanation, brow furrowed on slightly at the implication of her words. Carolina making a comment about Jane's health wasn't helping the girl's situation and while she understood that Sydney and Jane could push people, the protective Mama bear in Sienna couldn't not be upset that someone had the gall to say anything about her Jane to the girl's face. At the same time, Sienna couldn't even find it in her to want to do anything about it other than tell Carolina to back off. Whether or not Jane wanted to acknowledge the fact or not, Carolina WAS Sienna's friend and that gave Sienna the ability to try to see things on both sides. So, trying to not blurt words out, Sienna rubbed Jane's shoulders through the thick blanket.

"For one, you're not not going to Pipe's party, even if that means I have to drag you outta bed," she said quickly and the sharp stare she gave her friend meant that the threat was not idle. "You probably have too gorgeous of a gown for you to randomly decide not to wear it and I, for one, am dying to see Jane Lynch remind these bitches why she's the second hottest girl in the school. Second to me, of course." Sienna had to add the extra playful wink, not really meaning her statement, but definitely not lying. She, Sydney and Jane were the hottest girls in school and while the debate was still ongoing, Sydney definitely still held the crown for hottest girl in the school.

Despite anything Jane might have told herself, she had the body that fit what European beauty standards glorified. Tall, but not too tall. Slim, but not too slender and with the right amount of curves to not seem too "thick." It still surprised Sienna that Jane - out of the original trio - would have any problems with the way she was built when there were too many girls in the world who wished they had legs like hers, who wished they could pull off a Herve Leger dress like Jane, who was Jane. But she also knew, after some late night reading when she really should have been getting some shut eye, that telling a girl like Jane that her opinion her body - the one opinion that mattered above ALL else - did not matter. Because it did. It needed to. And she needed to see how absolutely flawless she was.

Sienna, on the other hand, required a personal trainer. It wasn't something she discussed often enough, but she did hire one. For one, with Rick back, she could go back to doing kickboxing. It had helped with her venting, but also with keeping her toned. In a family of Hispanics and African-Americans, curves were not negotiable. An Alvarez girl was going to have them, whether they wanted them or not. And despite how much Sienna would sing in Snapchats that she woke up like this, that had never been the case. She had to throw herself into dancing to keep up appearances on stage and not be as breathless as she probably would be while singing and dancing at the same time. She needed the trainer to combat against all the stress eating she did. Nothing came easy and there were times when she felt heavier than the day before, but she distracted herself from those thoughts by worrying about everyone else. Kinda like she was with Jane, like she always did with Jane.

"You are gorgeous, and whether or not you want to hear it you, you're good enough to go out of this galaxy so what I don't wanna hear is that you thought you weren't good enough to be at a store. Those peasants were ready for you anyway," she cajoled the brunette, leading her to the steps so that they could sit on the fourth to the last stair comfortably. She also waved a carefree hand at calling the people at Tiffany's "peasants." Which is why you are coming to the party tomorrow. You are coming to my house to get dolled up because Philip Carreon flying over from Cali to do hair extensions for anyone who wants, makeup and nail artists, and you're going to be so abso-fucking-lutely stunning tomorrow that you'll forget that anyone told you otherwise." She even winked at the brunette reassuringly.

"And Syd will get over it, as she always does," she also said. "I can never say the same about me, but she never stays mad at you for long. You're her best friend." It was a moment of weakness, definitely that had Sienna glowering at the thought, but it was too late to take the admittance back. And her statement held truth in her eyes. Jane had always been Sydney's best friend. Sienna, despite what Sydney might have told Sienna, was just there to make the group look good. Or, to at least add to the dynamics of the original threesome.

Jane smiled weakly at Sienna's compliments, but didn't react much more than that, not to even confirm that she would be at the party tomorrow. She couldn't agree that she was Sydney's best friend, partly because she didn't know if she wanted to agree. Sydney Vale was the epitome of what every Upper East Side girl wanted to be, and the best friend spot that Jane apparently possessed was coveted almost as much. It wasn't as glamorous as it seemed though. Jane couldn't say that Sydney was a horrible friend, because she knew Sydney well enough to know that there was a lot of good in her. It was just normally buried under layers and layers of thick skin. She could be as comforting as Sienna, or as good of a listener as Piper (or at least as good of a listener as Piper seemed to be when Jane dragged her shopping just to vent), but they weren't traits they Sydney liked to show. She was normally controlling and proper and sometimes too uptight and image-conscious for anyone to even be able to breathe around her and not be criticized for it.

Over the years, it had become crystal clear that maybe Jane was the top best friend, but that was only because no one else would allow Sydney to use them as a doormat so much as Jane would. Sienna was a perfect example of that. Before Sydney betrayed Sienna, and months after, when she was probably comfortable with the idea that the secret would never get out, Jane noticed that Sydney and Sienna were really close. She never felt left out or replaced, because they really did pass as a great trio for a while, but Sienna was probably just as close, if not closer, to Sydney than Jane was. Like a normal human being, though, Sienna could only take so much disrespect before she snapped. The big snapping point was obviously at that dinner, but looking back on it, it was probably apparent that Sienna's tolerance of Sydney had been shriveling away for a while. It was visible in the way that the intoxicated rants about Sydney seemed more passionate, or how she no longer forced an agreeing response to some of Sydney's demands or nasty comments. Even aside from Sienna, there were other girls who probably could have played the role of Sydney's best friend better than Jane, had they been just as passive as her. For one, there was Charlotte, who, had she not been so protective of Connor, probably would have replaced Piper in the group as their fourth member. Sydney seemed to like her, or at least think that her gorgeous appearance would benefit the group, but her mouth and opinions were what knocked her off of Sydney's good list.

Sydney was gentler with Jane than she was with a lot of people; that couldn't be denied. Still, Jane knew that she did succumb to nearly every one of Sydney's demands, and that was why days like these, when she went against Sydney's wishes for a perfectly good reason, made her feel like she had committed an act of treason. All of those acts of treason, though, were probably only minor offenses compared to whatever bothered Sydney about Sienna. Jane would shop for her ball gown at Walmart before she ever created a gossip blog and outed Sydney for being a homewrecker. "I know you need your space and blah, blah, blah, and I'm really not just saying this because I want my friends to be friends again, but she does miss you, Sia. Seriously," she responded, offering her best pleading look before standing up from the steps. She placed the giftbag down allowed her blanket to fall behind her as she embraced Sienna. "I guess I should let you go. I don't want Mama Alvarez thinking I kidnapped you, so go have fun at your dinner party, but text me later and thank you for my gift, BFF."

Sienna wasn't at all surprised when Jane, instead of responding to what Sienna was trying to say about the party or even about Jane's appearance, turned it into a moment to bring up Sydney more. Which was fine, she understood Jane's point. She didn't want to continue speaking about herself and her problems, especially considering the fact that she had been ignorant to Sienna and Sydney knowing about her disorder only a week ago. But what Jane said did strike Sienna silent for a moment, at least long enough for Jane to stand and pull her into a hug.

Trying not to appear affected by her friends words, Sienna pulled a bright smile as she leaned into Jane's embrace, hugging the brunette fiercely before releasing her. A small laugh escaped Sienna's mouth at the thought of her mother thinking Jane kidnapped her, a thought Cynthia Alvarez had had once or twice in the past. Not that it had been a lie since Jane would kidnap Sienna from time to time, but Jane was going with the lie and Sienna really was trying not to think on the fact that she was slowly becoming better at lying to people. Not something she wanted to think on for too long. What she couldn't ignore was the way her chest filled with warmth at Jane calling her a best friend. No matter how many times she heard it, the words still stirred the same emotions in her and Sienna was too emotional for her own good. "No problem, J." Winking one last time at the brunette, Sienna headed over to the elevator before stepping in to the opening doors, turning around to wave at Jane before pressing the button for the lobby and letting the doors close.

It was only when she was back in her family's vehicle and on the way to Kelley's place that Sienna allowed herself to mull over what Jane had said. Sydney...missed her. It seemed too implausible, like another one of optimistic and sweet Jane's excuses as to why Sydney had to be a bigger bitch one day than the day before. Sydney wouldn't miss her. Definitely not Piper, but not Sienna. At least, Sienna couldn't wrap her brain around the idea of her former friend missing her. As if they hadn't had good times in between the bad. As if they both hadn't come together during various points over the last three years to vent to each other instead of just screaming at Jane. As if they hadn't laughed and played and been actual friends. No, Sydney couldn't miss her even if Sienna did, now that she gave herself a second to comprehend the emotion, miss her. It just wasn't in Sydney's nature, or at least in the nature that she revealed to Sienna. Shaking her head of the thoughts since they were almost enough to convince her that she needed to either work out or sleep them away, Sienna pulled her phone out to see where Vincent was.

Jane appreciated Sienna even more when she didn't push the subject of her appearance or attendance at Piper's party any further. Jane knew that she wasn't going to be able to get out of going to the party easily, and she wasn't even sure if she genuinely didn't want to go, or if it was just her current emotions talking. Her current emotions were speaking loudly now though, and Jane decided to text her mother. She figured that the excuse that she missed her mother enough that she wanted to go visit her for the weekend would be valid enough, and could her friends really get mad at her over it? Jane knew that they could, and at least with Sydney, they would, but she couldn't focus on that now. After Sienna left, Jane abandoned her spot on the stairs, but rather than heading back upstairs, she ventured through the main level of the penthouse. The kitchen was the last place she wanted to be in, but she wanted to get a water bottle before locking herself in the room for the rest of her life.

She was still feeling distressed, but the Cartier bag in her hand definitely made her feel a little bit better. She had allowed herself to nearly forget that Carolina existed at all, when just as she went to turn into the kitchen, she spotted the girl in there too. In one of the largest apartments in Manhattan, why was it that Carolina was always invading her space? Truthfully, she could have been on the complete opposite side of the penthouse and Jane still would have felt like she was intruding, though.

"Oh my God," Jane groaned, glaring at the back of Carolina's body as she made a dramatic about-face and paced back up the hallway. She had only taken a few steps by the time her phone was out. Her first first call was to her father, and it unsurprisingly went to voicemail. She left him a short message, requesting that he call her back immediately, before dialing Nicole's number. Just as unsurprisingly, the blonde answered after only one ring. Jane didn't wait for her stepmother to say a word before beginning the conversation herself. "Your sister is a complete bitch and I want her out of my house."

"What happened this time, Jane?" Nicole's voice didn't hide how uninterested she was in what Jane had to say. It was like she was tired of whatever the drama was, when it hasn't even really begun yet.

"No, don't use that voice! Don't act like I'm being dramatic because I'm not. She's mean and I hate her and I want her out of my house. No one got my permission to let her stay here, and I want her out."

"No one needs your permission. Look, Jane, I'm in the lobby. I'll be up in a minute, and your dad will be home later tonight. We can talk about this later as a family if it'll make you feel better."

"Talking about it won't make me feel better! A background check on her would! I must have missed the memo that said we were allowed to invite people from the slums into my house all of the sudden." She let the "family" label slide, only because she had bigger issues to protest right now.

After school, Carolina had savored the empty apartment for a little while. She watched television for a little while and then brought her laptop into the kitchen, enjoying the homemade mozzarella sticks that the chef had cooked when she got home. Peace and quiet came in small doses to her lately, and today was no different. She had barely sent her reply text to Sienna, saying "Lol trust me i feel u to an extent... but you don't know the inside dramatics behind this girl", when Jane crashed her afternoon. She had taken a little while to reply to Sienna because she didn't really know how to respond. She wanted to virtually roll her eyes and tell Sienna that she should've expected her to take Jane's side, and that since she was a privileged kid too, she really wouldn't get it. At the same time, Carolina was only petty with people who were petty with her, and Sienna wasn't one of them. In fact, Carolina actually found Sienna to be entertaining in her own dramatics, and genuine in all other aspects of her personality.

From her seat at the kitchen island, Carolina cringed as she heard Jane groan, but didn't turn around. When she heard the girl turn away and start walking, she thought she was in the clear, but it wasn't so. She could only hear Jane's side of the conversation that she was having with Nicole, but that was all she needed to hear to make her face feel like it was pressed against a stove top. She didn't think her face was heating up over embarrassment, though. Carolina didn't grow up poor. If she hadn't been given up by her birth mother, she probably would have, but living with Nancy allowed her to have a shot at a normal life. A few days with the Lynch's showed Carolina why Jane would mistake a middle class lifestyle as that of poverty, but it wasn't her fault that Jane was out of touch with modern society. No, her blood wasn't boiling because she was ashamed of her life, but because this privileged little bitch thought she could speak about her in such a demeaning and petty way. Petty wasn't even the word for it, but Carolina didn't want to validate Jane as having the depth or capacity to actually be vile or malicious.

She hadn't even felt this enraged when Sydney Vale had dismissed her earlier. That was a mixture of embarrassment, annoyance and anger, which was then followed up with a bout of guilt after what she had impulsively said to Jane. This washed away all of that guilt, though, and replaced it with pure rage. Maybe she was being just as dramatic as Jane here, but this was more than just Jane trash talking her this one time. It was the general attitude of superiority that the girl thought she had over her, and it was something that Carolina wasn't going to stand for. She could be passive towards many things, but Jane claiming that they needed to do a background check on her ticked her off. She was a criminal now? Carolina had wanted to slap some sense into the brunette ever since she arrived, but she had never threatened Jane. She had never done a single thing to insinuate that she had a criminal bone in her body. So what was it? The fact that she was black, or that she didn't come from a billionaire that suggested that she was somehow a danger to them? In the back of her mind, Carolina knew that Jane was just being the dumb little bitch that she was, and it really wasn't that deep, but she didn't care in the moment.

"You make it easy for people to believe that you're a stupid brat, you know that? I mean, everyone knows you're not book smart but you've always gotta go running your mouth reminding everyone that you're out of touch with reality in every other way too." When Jane reappeared by the kitchen doorway, Carolina couldn't stop herself from making a comment. She knew it wasn't smart to feed the troll, but she had some pride too, and she wasn't going to let Jane trash her right in front of her face and get away with it.

"And you make it easy for people to believe that you're trash by wearing those fake gold, hooker earrings all the time. You aren't in the ghetto anymore, you can take those off."

"Shhh, quiet yourself now before you get yourself into a mess that not even Sienna can get out of." Carolina didn't care if she was the one being condescending and dismissive now. Jane was the one who always got to do the talking and she needed to be put in her place! Either that, or she needed to leave Carolina alone, but that seemed impossible at this point.

"Is that why you're so mean? Because you're jealous that I have friends and you don't?"

"Shit, you got me!" Carolina exclaimed, only pushing her laptop screen down now. If she really was as "ghetto" as Jane ignorantly wanted to claim, it would have been the equivalent of her taking her earrings off. Carolina resisted the urge to get out of her seat though, and just spun around slightly in the chair so that she was facing Jane. "I'm jealous of the fake bitches you get to call friends. I mean, they're obviously such good friends to you, that's why you're always so happy and shit, right? Such good friends that they visited you all summer when you were 'on vacation'? Oh wait! That's right, they didn't visit you because you were too scared to tell them about where you were. Too scared to tell your perfect friends that you can't eat a fucking cupcake without thinking you've gained one hundred pounds. And that's why I was told to keep my mouth shut about your whereabouts, and like a good fucking person, I complied. So yeah, I'm definitely jealous of these amazingly genuine and trustworthy friends that you have, and honestly, you're whole life in general, Jane! It seems like you have everything going for you."

"Okay, I'm here. Why is my Jane upset?" Nicole emerged from behind Jane with an arm full of shopping bags, just in time to distract Jane from acting on her desire to scratch Carolina's eyes out. She couldn't focus on Nicole being too personal now, because she wanted anyone on her side, even if it was the demon's sister, and the person that had been Jane's original enemy.

"Get her out! Get her out right now Nicole, or I will kill her!" Jane insisted, her voice shrill as she clutched the blonde's forearm, yanking her out of the kitchen and into the hallway.

"Tell that bitch to try and lay a hand on me and we'll see who ends up dead," Carolina called out, an amused giggle escaping as she rolled her eyes at the thought of Jane Lynch even just trying something with her.

There were a few occasions throughout the day trip to Massachusetts where Piper internally questioned whether what they were doing was too much. They were preparing to ruin Victoria's chances of getting into her dream school, a dream that was probably just within her reach now, but could be transformed into something that she had nearly zero percent of obtaining at the drop of a hat. It was low, and it was territory that even Piper had never stepped into before. It was comforting having Sienna lead the plan, though. That way, when the time came (and Piper was sure that it would come), when Sienna pulled the trigger and inevitably, Tori found out who was behind it all, the blood wouldn't just be on her hands. Even more so than being able to share the guilt, having Sienna execute this devious plan gave Piper a safety net that she could never have on her own. Sienna had enough connections that even if somehow, in some bizarre twist of events, she was exiled, she would still be popular, and cool and wealthy. They could be exposed for being bad people, but Sienna had enough of a following that not everyone would believe that about them.

It was something that Piper didn't have on her own. Sure, she had made it into the lusted over cool crowd, but just barely. She always knew that she was the fourth wheel, but she was okay with being the fourth wheel to the trio of best friends over being a wannabe. It was something that she had come to terms with, but it didn't keep her from secretly hoping and wanting to become more throughout the years. By the end of junior year, her place at the bottom of the friend group seemed permanent, but then Jane disappeared, disrupting the balance, and there was no need to even mention how the first week of senior year had shifted the dynamics of the group. There was hope now, and much of that hope relied on Sienna completely cutting off her ties with Sydney. The Queen Bee would be the hardest person to take down, but Piper felt like if anyone could do it, it would be Sienna. It was apparent by her actions today that she had the capacity to be just as vicious as Sydney could be, and at the very least, there was a way to spin this act into an act of protection for their friends. Sienna had the possibility of being the full package: she could be cruel and cold, but also protective and friendly. All she needed to do was put that into action, and then she'd be at the top. Piper would take being second in command over fourth.

Thomas wasn't home from school when she returned, but that wasn't unusual. He had joined some after school club, but Piper couldn't remember what it was. Archery? Newspaper? Yearbook committee? She didn't have the slightest clue, and quickly felt bad about it. Thomas was all that she had, and she was all that he had. They had Amy too, and maybe Piper didn't give her enough credit, but she didn't count as real, true family. Piper didn't think that they really needed her for anything other than a person to pay the rent, and a lot of the time, she actually thought that she would be better off without Amy at all. The first thing that Piper did after ditching her bag in her bedroom was take a shower. She had nowhere to be tonight and had a few shoots coming up, so she decided to put on a cleansing facial mask after stepping out of the steamy bathroom, and once that was on, she curled up in bed. Her phone had died only moments after stepping out of Sienna's car, but now it was nearly fully charged again, and full of notifications. She waited a few minutes before opening or replying to any of them, though. She had kept her cool in the car with Sienna and Esme, but she hadn't actually reacted to the post that Tori had made on her blog about her yet. She hadn't even let herself reread it in the car in front of the girls, because she didn't want to seem too bothered by it. To start, it was made by Tori, and that alone should have invalidated any sort of semblance that it held. Piper had feelings, though, so it was hard not to be bothered by someone posting such trash about her.

Aside from the cattiness of the post, Victoria had linked her with Brent Barclay, and that was a person that she didn't want to be associated with. It extended the sheer fact that Brent was below her on the social ladder. She had gotten herself into another deep situation involving Brent and Jane's exchanges, and when that came crashing down, she didn't want any links to it either. That was one issue that Piper didn't know how to handle, now. She had gotten her money for her party and was surprisingly relaxed about the event that was just a day away, but now she was still stuck in the middle of the situation. Knowing Jane and her big mouth and lack of carefulness, there was no way that it would stay a secret forever, and Piper knew that if Sienna found out that she had convinced Jane to start (or restart) using pills to fuel her weight loss, her initial plan would be destroyed.

The obvious answer would be to tell Jane that she couldn't let her buy the pills from Brent anymore, and that she really needed to try to get better, but that wasn't as easy as it seemed. Piper cared about Jane to an extent. She had had a lot of fun with the heiress over the years, and a genuine friendship did exist between them, but Piper didn't see Jane as an equal. It didn't make much sense, considering that Jane was the one with a real reason to look down on Piper, but Jane could just be such an airhead sometimes. She was fun to go shopping with when she was footing the bill, and no one could deny that the girl's drinking habits led to fun nights, but was their friendship true enough that Piper put Jane's interests over her own? Not really. Besides, she knew that if she told Jane she needed to stop, the girl wouldn't just say okay and comply. She would make a big deal about it and somehow spill that Piper had been involved to begin with, or do something stupid that would eventually lead back to Piper's involvement. Piper felt like it was necessary to remain involved for now, if only to just make sure that Jane kept their tracks hidden from the rest of the upper east side.

To: Sienna
Aw, of course <3 Just put on an exfoliating mask so I'll head over to check on her in a little. I'm probably going to get dinner with Carolina later. If you're not too exhausted, join!

To: Jane
I'm going to come by to see you in a little while. I heard you're not feeling well :(. Everything okay? I'll do what I can with the pills but idk if we'll be able to get them tonight. Brent will be at my party tomorrow, so worse comes to worse, I can ask him to bring them to you then, kk? Just make sure you have cash on you and don't send me so many texts about it! You need to be more careful. How would you feel if the girls somehow found out about this?!

To: Brent
Your cash cow wants her supply restocked

To: Carolina
Sorry, my phone has been dead all afternoon. Let's get dinner somewhere! I won't be ready for an hour or so but I'll come by your place if that's okay!

To: Connor
I miss you! You're definitely coming tomorrow, right? Some models from Wilhelmina are going to be there, there's this really sweet girl who I think would be great for you!

To: Kelley
Sydney's probably behind it. UGH!

After her replies were sent, Piper read through Tori's blog post once more. She had no idea that the boy she had slept with at Sydney's party had a history with Victoria, but it was just her luck that this would happen. Tori didn't scare her, especially now that she had Sienna on her team, but she didn't need anyone trying to find dirt on her when she had real dirt to hide. And of all times when this could happen, it had to be the day before the biggest party she would host throughout her entire high school career. Just great...

To: Sienna
And ik I shouldn't be worried about that freak... but do you think you can get that post down before my party? I really don't want her to try anything tomorrow :/.

"See, she's mean to me for no reason!" Jane continued, trying to ignore Carolina's obnoxious words from the kitchen as the crocodile tears started falling.

"Did something just happen? I don't get why the two of you are all riled up over this!"

"Do you not understand English?! She's mean to me! Today at school when Sydney and I were talking and not bothering anyone, she just barged over as if either of us wanted to talk to her." Jane was too emotional to remind herself that she should have expected a stupid response from Nicole, but she was fired up. Surprisingly, Carolina wasn't, and was actually acting calm to a point where it was bothering Jane even more. The giggles and snickers and laughs that she could hear from the kitchen were enraging, and it was probably apparent more now than ever, that Jane had grown up as an only child. She wasn't used to having to compete for someone's attention when explaining her problem, nor was she used to fighting with someone she had to live with. She wanted to slap her old self for thinking that just living with Nicole was bad. Carolina was ten times worse than the blonde.

"Uh, no. Stop right there." Carolina had been listening from the kitchen, practically praying to any higher power listening, for the patience not to jump Jane then and there. She wanted to be the bigger person really badly, and she would be, but that didn't mean she had to let Jane spin the story around. So, she stepped out of the kitchen, only so far that she was leaning against the open doorway, arms crossed over her chest as she stared down the pair a few feet away. "I 'barged over' because I was trying to be nice to you and see if you wanted to ride home together, not because I thought that you or Sydney Vale could offer any engaging conversation."

"No one asked you. Can you tell her to go away so I can tell you what happened without her barging in, since that's like, the only thing that she's good at doing?"

"Just let her talk for a second, Car."

"Okay, tell us your delusional version of this story, Princess." Nicole's voice was obviously strained and her pleading eyes made Carolina roll her own eyes, but allow Jane to speak.

"Yeah, shut up," she snapped at Carolina, before turning back to Nicole. "As I was saying, she barged into my conversation with Sydney and called me fat in front of the entire school, and Sydney was there to hear it. You can ask her."

"Do I have your oh-so-valued permission to speak now?"

"Go ahead."

"I never called her fat in front of anyone, because we all know you're not fat, Jane. Isn't that the whole purpose of you starving yourself? So everyone can point out how-"

"Okay, hey, enough of that."

"See?! She's always trying to make me feel bad for no reason."

"Are you joking? Okay, long story short, I went over there to make sure that she was okay. Her friends told me she hadn't eaten all day, and I didn't want her to go running off somewhere and passing out or something."

"Jane! I thought you agreed to follow your meal plans when your dad said you could come home from Illinois. I don't want you to have to go through-"

"Oh my God, she's such a liar. None of my friends even know who she is, and I did eat, and I am following my meal plans, so no one would tell you that anyway!" Was she serious?! There was no way that Carolina was telling the truth. First of all, she actually had eaten today, so of all days, this was the one where Jane was ready to defend herself. If she had sacrificed her mental health today by eating, she was definitely going to get credit for doing so. Besides, Sydney really had seen her eating lunch, since they had gotten food together. There was no way that she was going to tell Carolina that for that reason, and because it was clear today that she didn't like Carolina anyway. Sienna and Piper weren't in school, and as far as Jane knew, no one else knew of her disorder, so there was no one who could have told her that. But Jane knew that it was a believable lie, and she hated Carolina for using something like that against her.

"Look, I'm just telling you what I heard and what I was trying to do. I have no reason to lie, but okay, whatever. I don't have time to deal with this." Carolina put her hands up in surrender, as if she were the one who was being the bigger person here, but she knew what she was doing. Nicole would certainly believe her that someone had informed her that Jane hadn't been eating, because it fit Jane's pattern of behavior, and Carolina wasn't known to be catty enough to purposely lie to screw Jane over. But Jane had pushed her far enough... that's how she reasoned with her conscience. She was only doing this because Jane was pushing her, and she needed to push back to teach the princess that this wasn't the way she would be treated.

"She is lying, and if anyone doesn't have time to deal with this, it's me! I'm the one who actually has a social life," Jane shouted. She didn't know what else to say, how else to reason her way out of this, so another reminder that Carolina wasn't popular seemed necessary before she flipped Carolina off and grabbed her Cartier bag from the floor.

"This... this isn't over, you two. We're talking about this civilly later when Adrian gets home." Both girls were already storming off as Nicole let out her last attempt at ending the conversation on a decent note.

"Fuck that!" Jane snapped when she knew she was far enough down the hallway to get away with it. She was headed back to her bedroom without the water that had been the purpose of her going to the kitchen to begin with, but she wasn't even thinking about that now. All that she wanted to do was make sure that her door slammed at a volume louder than the slam she just heard coming from Carolina's side of the hallway.

To: Piper
NO don't come over unless you have the pills I do not want anything or anyone besides those piper i need them tonight

The text she sent Piper as she collapsed on her bed was probably unnecessarily emotional and snippy, but Jane was too wrapped up in her emotions to care. It wasn't a state that was unfamiliar to her, and Piper suggesting that she couldn't get the pills for an entire day only made Jane feel worse.

Relaxation was obviously not the name of the game today. All she wanted was a few hours of serenity, but she knew that she was foolish to think it was plausible. She was the one who wanted to be popular so badly, but there were days like this that made her rethink all of the hard work she put into her plight to climb the social ladder. She was being publicly humiliated online for hooking up with a guy she didn't know, she had a party that had depleted all of her savings tomorrow, her schoolwork was piling up, and now Brent and Jane were giving her a hard time?! Although she knew that she belonged at the top, she was suddenly jealous of Carolina and the simple social life she had. She felt like she was in over her head but she couldn't admit that now, when everything was finally starting to fall into place in terms of Sienna and Sydney's fallout. So, she pulled herself out of her warm bed and into the bathroom. The facial mask that she had been so excited to use was washed off before it even had time to become effective, and Piper saw dollar signs washing down the drain instead of suds. Ugh! She opened Jane's message mid-rinse, and couldn't believe how rude the girl was being! She blatantly stated that she didn't want to even see Piper if she didn't bring the pills with her!

To: Jane
OMG Jane! Calm down! I want them just as badly as you do, but idk how I'm supposed to get them if he doesn't have any. I'll see what I can do, I promise, but you can't get mad at me for something that's out of my control!

Tomorrow's party better be worth it, she thought. She had gotten herself back into a bad situation by being the one to encourage Jane to start taking weight loss drugs again, but if she hadn't done that, there was no way she would be able to host the party. She could either prove Sydney right, that she wasn't really "one of them", and definitely not fit to host their annual party, or she could sacrifice Jane's health and make some money off of her illness. It was selfish, but Piper had already cleared her conscience, reminding herself that Jane probably would have fallen back into that old habit anyway. It only made sense that she take advantage of it, rather than let Brent profit off of it all himself. And she would get out of it somehow. She had to. She just didn't know how she was going to do it yet.

After patting her bare face dry, she saw that Sienna had responded to her second message, agreeing to see what she could do about the post. Sienna had told Piper not to say or do anything to Tori just yet, and Piper was willing to agree to that, so long as Sienna continued to try to squash the brunette. After all of the work she had put into tomorrow's party, she didn't need Tori pulling some crazy stunt there, or revealing something else about her online that would turn everyone against her and force her party into a failure before it even happened.

To: Sienna
Thanks love xo

She didn't really want to deal with Jane if she was in one of her drama queen moods, but she needed to keep up her image of being a good friend, especially since Sienna had specifically asked her to look out for Jane tonight. Besides, she and Carolina had decided that they would get Shake Shack in an hour, so she had to go to Jane's house either way. She would keep her promise to Sienna, and keep her promise to Jane too, by seeing what else she could do to get the pills from Brent. As she got dressed, she texted both him and Carolina.

To: Brent
Call me ASAP!

To: Carolina
Omw to your place :)!

It took the amount of time it took for her to get dressed and hail a cab outside of her building for Brent to call her, but when he did, she was relieved. Her cab driver had tried to make small talk with her and the way that he was eyeing her through his rear view mirror was creepy after they had only driven two blocks.

"Brent?"

"What's up, Pipe?"

"I need you to give me a few of those pills for her today. She's freaking out! There's no way that she could be addicted to them after only a few days of using them again, right? Ugh, I can't believe you roped me back into this mess!"

"Whoa... Chill, Pipe! I told you, I don't can't give her any of those right now. I've got some Xanax that I can give you a pretty good deal on. It seems like you could use 'em too."

"Not funny, Brent. Look, I'm serious. She's really freaking out about this, and I don't want her blabbing to Sienna or Sydney about me being involved. Don't you have something that'll make her feel the same way? She won't know the difference."

"That girl knows her weight loss drugs, I wouldn't underestimate her there. You remember last year when I tried to get her to believe Tic Tacs were some new Russian weight loss drug?"

"Uh, no. She was swallowing orange Tic Tacs for a week before I told her that you were full of shit. But, seriously, Brent! I need something for her. Can't you call up your little drug manufacturing buddies and ask them for a few more to hold her over? You know she'll pay you anything you want."

"Look, Pipe, it's not up to me. Once I get the A-okay from someone else, I'll sell her a thousand pills a day if she wants that, but for now she's just gotta chill. I have a few bags of coke if she wants that. That's what you models use to lose weight, yeah? She can pull a Kate Moss."

"What are you talking about? The 'A-okay' from who?" Piper's stomach sank at that revelation that someone else knew that Brent was selling to Jane. She wanted to believe that it was just another one of his drug buddies, maybe someone who was worried that if Jane's dad found out, they'd spend the rest of their lives behind bars. With the way things were going lately, though, she felt like it wasn't going to be that easy. Nothing could be easy! She couldn't even shut down his offer for cocaine, being too caught up on her own panic regarding this confession.

"I've gotta run, but I'll call you later. I'll see what I can do, but don't count on it for tonight."

She tried to object, but he hung up, and Piper realized that her cab had been stopped for a few seconds on the side of the road. "Ten seventy-eight," the driver said, in a tone that suggested this wasn't the first time he had asked her just now.

"Right, sorry!" she responded, rummaging through her bag as she found eleven dollars. Tipping in Manhattan was expected, but Piper didn't have the money right now, and she was too flustered to even worry about seeming cheap as she hurried into the hotel that Jane lived in.

To: Carolina
Hey love!! I'm here! Mind buzzing me in? Jane isn't happy with me.

Being a nice guy was a good thing a lot of the time. It allowed Connor to befriend nearly everyone, and even people like Brent Barclay, who he wasn't fond of at all, weren't enemies. At the same time, it was arguable that that wasn't just because he was kind, but because he was a pushover. He let people walk all over him, and that was especially true when it came to Sydney. Everyone knew it, and though Connor was sometimes too mesmerized to see it right away, he could recognize that in the grand scheme of things, he did care about pleasing Sydney more than himself. Although he sometimes wished that he could be like Rick, and be able to speak his mind whenever he wanted, Connor had come to terms that this was probably just his nature. He wasn't assertive and he didn't like to cause problems when he was the only one who was being negatively affected by things.

He spent the next few minutes stuck in his own mind, wondering if he should speak up against this Victoria thing, while barely paying attention to the conversation that Sydney was making. She would ask him if a bracelet looked nice, or if he thought a pair of earrings looked too big for her face, and he would just nod or shake his head, depending on which way he thought she wanted him to answer. He was confused. He knew that he didn't want to date Victoria, and he wasn't the type of guy who could get away with one-night hookups with girls that he would have to see again. It wasn't so much that he became emotionally-invested in people that easily, but he worried that they would, and he didn't want to hurt other people or be a player. It wasn't him, and it felt wrong... which again reminded him that he was a teenage boy and it didn't need to feel wrong. All of his friends seemed to enjoy those one night stand deals, and he wished that he could get away with it without feeling inclined to call the girl the next day or continue to like her tacky Instagram posts.

"Do you think Charlotte would like this?" he asked suddenly. Sydney had wandered away for a few minutes to speak with a sales associate, and when she returned, he pointed to a ring situated below the glass counter. Before he had spoken up, he sent texts to Charlotte and Piper.

To: Charlotte
Can I come over later? I feel like we haven't actually hung out in forever

To: Piper
I'll be there! But ehh no models for me. Sydney's setting me up with Tori Walsh, actually!

"Connor, didn't we agree that asking Charlotte was a bad idea?"

Agree didn't sound like the right word, but he nodded quickly. "I know, I know. I'm not going to say anything to her about that, but I want to get her something anyone. She took care of that whole charity event on Sunday, and I just feel like I owe her something to remind her how much she means to me."

"Cute," Sydney mused without even attempting to hide her eye roll at the sappiness of his comment. Connor was too sweet for his own good. It allowed her to do what she wanted with him, but she didn't like the idea of anyone else getting to take advantage of it either. "But no, I wouldn't get a ring. It's not like you're proposing, and a girl like that might just be desperate enough to think that you are. Save her the embarrassment and go with a bracelet." She didn't think that she needed to worry about Connor going after Charlotte anymore, at least short-term wise. Maybe after he and Tori didn't work out, which Sydney didn't doubt would happen eventually, he'd set his sights back on Lottie, but for now, Connor seemed to understand her position. She just hoped that he didn't see the real reasoning behind her position, but then again, Sydney had slept with Connor's brother despite knowing he was in love with her. She wasn't worried about anything coming between the two of them at this point.

Connor ignored the way that Sydney slipped in an insult about Charlotte. He still felt embarrassed about how Sydney was so quick to say that Charlotte would surely reject any advances he made, so he didn't even want to acknowledge her talking about marriage. "What about this?" He pointed to a bracelet he had been eyeing earlier. Connor didn't have the best fashion sense and before he had called Sydney, he had been planning on simply asking a female associate what she thought a seventeen-year-old girl would like best, and buying it. He hoped that Sydney would be objective enough now to give him better advice, though.

Sydney had instructed a sales associate on which items she wanted to purchase by now, so when Connor called her over to an adjacent jewelry case, she followed. The bracelet he was pointing to was pretty. It wasn't the first thing that she would pick out in Tiffany's for herself, but she could see her grandfather getting it for her or something. The flower made it an easy, feminine pick, and for that reason, Sydney considered shutting the idea down and forcing Connor to go with something that was more plain and less likable. She felt bad shutting him down again, though, especially if he was so insistent on getting something for Charlotte. So, feeling like she was doing her good deed of the day, she resisted the urge to sabotage him, and nodded. "That screams Charlotte," she confirmed with a smile.

Just as she was about to check her phone to send Victoria a message demanding that she hurry up, the brunette appeared. As she spoke in a tone that was perky enough to display her desperation in full color, Sydney remembered what Sienna had told her. That this bitch had found out about her best friend's secret and needed to be watched. And then Sydney remembered Jane, and how she had ditched her in the middle of the street, as if people were just allowed to bail on Sydney Vale. The thought made her want to scoff aloud, but behind the vanity was the good friend in Sydney wanting to confront Tori over it right now. Jane was undeniably the most emotionally fragile of the three, though honestly, Sydney would claim that Sienna was good competition for that title. No one could ever hurt Jane, though. It was just against the rules. No matter how ignorant and offensive and bitchy Jane could be, lashing out at her in return didn't sit well with Sydney, and she knew that Sienna felt similarly. It was probably because the girls knew that a lot of the things Jane said really were just said out of ignorance, and that she was so sweet and fun normally. Sydney reaped the benefits of that girl the most, so she knew how true it was.

She wanted to demand that Victoria tell her everything she knew, and how she found it out, but she also suspected that Sienna wanted to do this together. Sydney didn't want to call Sienna a friend right now, but regardless, they were friends, and Sienna had been more inclusive in these Jane issues than Sydney would have been, had the tables been reversed and she was the more knowledgeable one. So, she kept her mouth closed for a moment, taking in Victoria, before brushing her hair behind her ear. "Sure, you can come tomorrow. I want you and Connor to come together. I think you two would be cute together, and Connor was just telling me about how he thinks you're really pretty, right Connor?" Sydney was creating her own version of their conversation, but she maintained a relaxed smile and spoke with confidence that would suggest nothing less than the truth.

Wow, could she make this any more awkward?! It was bad enough when Rick and Vincent tried to set him up with girls, be even they were never this direct! Connor could feel his face burning up as he struggled to come up with a response to that. "Uh, yeah! I'd love to go with you. I mean, only if you don't have anyone else to go with, and you want to. If you're already going with someone, that's cool too."

"My car should be outside. You two head out there while I get our bags, Connor," Sydney jumped in as she noticed the sales associate coming out of the back room. She shooed the two towards the front door, pretending that she had been too occupied by her phone to have been tuned into the conversation any longer after she had thrown Connor to the wolves. She took the moment of being alone as a chance to decide that she was going to forgive Jane without an apology, and go make sure she was okay, before getting their shopping bags and heading out to her town car.

Unlike Jane, Carolina's stress was translated into anger over tears and sadness. She hated getting emotional, and there was no way she was going to allow herself to get emotional in a home that still didn't feel like her own, around people she didn't feel close with. She was more than pissed off at her sister for taking Jane's side. Nicole had barely gotten a word in, and later on, Carolina would probably realize that her sister had been doing her best to say neutral amid the fighting, but now, it felt like she was taking Jane's side. The same little bitch that for the past few months, she was constantly calling home to complain about! The reminder was enough to have Carolina slamming her bedroom door behind her when she had departed from the girls and hurried off to find some peace and quiet. Her slam was mirrored, seconds later, by a similar but louder one, and knowing it was Jane only made Carolina want to open her door again, just to slam it even louder than the girl had.

Before the fighting had gotten bad, Carolina had confirmed with Piper that she would get Shake Shack with her for dinner. Now, a part of her just wanted to curl up in bed with a book and call it a day, but another stronger part wanted to get the hell out of this house. It was a thought that was more similar to what Jane was probably thinking than Carrie wanted to admit, but she knew that she could really use a drink right now. She wasn't crazy enough to drink alone on a school night though, and she compromised by lighting a vanilla candle in her room to calm her down as she got ready. It barely worked, but by the time that Piper texted her asking if she could be buzzed in, Carolina had changed into a new outfit and was ready to go.

To: Piper
I'm omw down

She didn't know that Piper wanted to come up to see Jane too, but frankly, she wouldn't have cared. With her luck too, Piper would do something stupid and invite Jane along with them. There was no way that she could stand to be around Adrian's daughter for another minute if they wanted Jane to live to see Piper's party. Besides, Piper was always different when she was around Jane and the girls that she hung out with, and she didn't want to hang out with that Piper tonight. She just wanted to be with the down to earth Pipe, the one who didn't need to hide her background and create a fictional life to get girls to accept her. "Hey," she said, doing her best to make sure her beaming smile was genuine looking as she located Piper in the lobby. "Shall we go?"

Jane texted Sydney back quicker than Sydney expected her to. She was still a few feet away from the town car when she opened Jane's message, reading "I am so sick, I can't see anyone right now", so she was able to pause and scoff at the message without having to deal with Connor or Victoria's curiosity. The likely level of discomfort that the two of them were feeling didn't even cross her mind. Although her intentions of forcibly setting the two of them up were more to benefit herself, she didn't think she was doing either of them wrong. Connor needed a girl to have a fling with and Victoria was pretty and smart, and Connor was a good looking, popular boy to entertain Tori's social climbing desires. It certainly helped that both of them were puppets for her, but she would pretend that that wasn't the selling point of setting them up.

To: Jane
10 minutes :)

Jane was adhering closely to her reputation of being unintelligent if she thought Sydney would buy the sick excuse. She was definitely sick, but not with something that was contagious or physically debilitating. Sydney found herself constantly shifting back and forth with wanting to ignore Jane's health problems and hope that by acting normal, Jane would somehow forget about them, and wanting to confront it head on and force this problem out of Jane. Neither would do any good, considering how sensitive Jane could be about trivial things, and how this wasn't trivial at all, but Sydney struggled with issues like this. She liked having control over everything and a mental issue like this was something that no one but Jane could control. Still, Sydney couldn't just sit around and watch her friend withdraw from everything and everyone she used to love. Even if it meant pretending to like Sienna more than she did right now, Sydney would do it if it would help shake this out of Jane. She would do the girl's afternoon before Piper's party and tell Jane that she sent Sienna an apology text, but only if it would show Jane that she was trying enough to make Jane try too.

Her driver saw her approaching the car and stepped around to open the back door, but before he could, Sydney caught his attention. She gave him Connor's bag and her own, and told her to drive the pair wherever they needed to go and deliver her bags to her home. She was going to be getting her own ride, and shortly after the car pulled off, she hailed a cab. Sydney was not a fan of taxi cabs or public transportation in general, and doused her hands in hand sanitizer as she sat uncomfortably in the back. It seemed necessary right now though, and certainly beat taking a subway or public bus. She had never taken either, but the horror stories she had heard were enough to make her shudder at the mere idea of it.

Sydney was used to having to use the same trick as Sienna to reach Jane when she was in a mood like this, so when the girl failed to answer her text reassuring her that she was coming regardless, she texted a member of the Lynch's house staff. By the time she was pulling up to the curb, the woman had confirmed that she would be buzzed in without a problem. Jane lived in the penthouse of a luxury hotel, so its lobby was always more busy than normal apartment buildings' were. Today was no different, and the lobby was bustling with guests as Sydney entered. It wasn't so crowded, though, that she didn't make out Piper and Carolina lingering near the elevators. It probably would have been possible for her to avoid making contact with them, and especially considering that she disliked both of them, it would have made sense. However, truly friends or not, Piper was a part of their friend group. Sydney had made the mistake of allowing one of the girls to allowing her into the group during freshman year, when her pretty face was more noticeable than her bitchy, and sometimes sketchy, personality. She regretted it now, especially since it gave Sienna an ally when Sydney forced Jane onto her side, but nonetheless, Piper was a part of her circle and Sydney was going to continue to pretend that they were friends in public. "Hey Pipe," Sydney said distractedly, unsure if her words had even been heard by the redhead as she brushed past her and Carolina. After the display of courage from Carolina earlier, and her ruining her afternoon with Jane, Sydney didn't even consider acknowledging her. Unless she ever proved to be of use, or she was around Jane's father, Sydney would simply act like the girl was completely invisible.

The elevator doors opened, and Sydney stepped in without hesitation, with her eyes almost immediately falling upon her phone screen as the doors closed. A few months ago, had Jane been acting like this, she would have rolled her eyes and called Sienna and asked their friend to come over and help her deal with it. Sienna could be just as dramatic as Jane, and although Sydney didn't want to admit that she was better than her at anything, she definitely could be warmer than Sydney readily acted. It was fair to say that it was easier for Sienna to genuinely get through to Jane, even if it was basically impossible for either of them to make a difference in the latest issue Jane was facing. She was unaware that Sienna had just stopped by, but had she known that, she would have been even more glad that she resisted texting the blonde on her way up to see Jane. I'll deal with this on my own... she thought, but it wasn't completely true, considering that she did text Victoria. She really hadn't planned on bringing Sienna's revelation up until she had spoken to Sienna and they had come up with a plan together, but Sydney couldn't resist. She couldn't stand the idea of a loser thinking she had control or power over any of her friends, and especially when it involved such a sensitive topic that was still fairly new to Sydney.

To: Victoria
I want to know who told you what you know about Jane and what they told you, and I want to know now.

A few minutes later, Sydney was in the Lynch's apartment and then in Jane's bedroom without a knock on the door. She found the brunette in bed and flashed her a knowing look. "Do I get an explanation for why you abandoned me, or is this just going to be a regular thing that I should get used to now?"

"I didn't feel good. Please, can we just forget about it?" Jane groaned. She jumped off of her bed at almost the same second that Sydney sat down.

"I don't want to sound selfish, but I'm kind of offended that you won't open up to me about this. Or anyone, really. Even Sienna. Like, was it really necessary for you to keep this a secret from everyone?"

Jane didn't reply immediately, and instead paced around her room nervously, pulling open her desk drawer and rummaging through it as if she were in search of something. "It wasn't a secret..." Jane contested quietly. She didn't want to engage in this conversation, but Sydney was in a usual persistent mood, where it seemed like she wouldn't settle down without getting an answer she wanted. This was one conversation that Jane wasn't able to just back down on, though. She didn't want to give any answers and she honestly didn't know if she even had any answers to actually give.

"It wasn't a secret?! Of course it was, Jane! This was something so major, and you didn't tell anyone about it. I'm pretty sure that that's the very definition of a secret."

"Will you French braid my hair?" She was doing her best to completely tune Sydney out, and when she spotted her hair brush on her dresser, asking Sydney to do her hair was the first thought that came to her mind. She could turn on a movie, have Sydney do her hair, and end the conversation before she burst out into tears again.

"Jane!" Sydney snapped, not surprised at Jane's attempt to deter the conversation, but still bothered by it. Did she really think that Sydney was going to let up?! Here Sydney was, trying to be a good friend and actually get to the bottom of this, and Jane couldn't even humor her with some type of relevant answer.

"Oh my God, you're literally making this into such a big deal when it really isn't, Syd! Can you just drop it? My dad freaked out over nothing, I spent a summer in therapy, and now I'm fine! It's annoying, I just don't want to talk about it anymore."

"It is a big deal! If you were fine, you wouldn't start crying in the middle of 5th Avenue over something that a complete nobody said! I know this is... hard for you, but why can't you just like.... explain it to me? You know that Sienna and I, and maybe Piper, actually care, and I just want to know why you're doing this to yourself so I can try to help."

"If I needed help, I would ask you, Syd. Can we drop it for tonight, please?" Jane gave Sydney her best sad puppy face. She wanted to keep the mood light on purpose, partly because she didn't want to get herself in the mood for a serious conversation, and partly because she hoped to steer Sydney in a lighter direction as well.

"I'll drop it for tonight if you order food with me from downstairs." Sydney didn't want to have to play this card, because she vaguely remembered reading that she wasn't supposed to use food as a force against someone suffering from this, but it seemed necessary. If Jane really was as fine as she claimed, she would be able to eat a simple meal with a friend without it being the end of the work.

"I just ate."

"Will Nicole say the same thing when I ask her?"

"I don't want to do this." Jane was still speaking quietly, but she was more annoyed now. She didn't want everyone in her business, and she didn't need someone who was supposed to be a friend trying to be her parent. Sydney got to have control over nearly every other aspect of life, and this illness was the one thing that Jane had complete control over (or so she thought).

Sydney needed a moment to figure out her next step. She wasn't sure if she should stay on the attack and continue to push this, risking Jane freaking out on her, or if she should just let it go and continue to pretend that everything was okay. She had an excuse for her silence when Victoria finally responded to her with "I've been wanting to tell you but I didn't want to upset you :/. Can I call you when I leave Connor? It's easier than typing it all out". Sydney didn't answer Tori's text, mostly because Jane had walked past her in that moment as she fled towards the bedroom door. It seemed like she was going to have to let it go for now, especially if she was going to spend her night dealing with it through Tori. Before following Jane out into the hallway, she sent Sienna a text. Sienna had included her in the initial discovery of Jane's issues, and though Sienna clearly knew more than her about Victoria's involvement, she was still going to reciprocate that inclusion here. Three way calls where one party thought it was simply a two-way call were always fun anyway.

To: Sienna
I'm going to call you later.

Jane had been seriously considering ditching her plans with the girls to go to Piper's party, and catching a flight out to LA to visit all day. Her day hadn't been great, but it wasn't like she expected any different. On top of the physical effects of her illness, the mental ones wore her down as well. It was like everything was draining and unless she was fully immersed in an activity or with her friends, she just wanted to be in her bed. Even before this had taken over her life, Jane had never been someone who was interested in school, so having to spend six hours there today didn't make her mood any brighter. Escaping to Los Angeles sounded like a good idea, and even after promising her friends that she would be there that night, she still considered ditching. It wouldn't be the first time that she disappeared without notice, and despite dreaming of being back in New York all summer, she was already kind of ready to fall off the map again. LA would be nice. She could see her mother and little Mason, and certainly work on her tan. Plus, she wouldn't have to deal with how hideous she was sure she would look if she ever dared to try on the Elie Saab dress that she ordered for the party. She recognized that it was socially unacceptable to RSVP to a party and then not attend, but she felt like Piper would just have to get over it. The redhead hadn't fulfilled her friendship duties in getting Jane her pills, so it wasn't like she was pleased with her either.

As she got into her town car following the end of the school day, she was in the mindset that she would definitely be in California by the end of the night. She wouldn't tell her friends that though, because with Sydney and Sienna as her best friends, breaking plans was just unacceptable. With Sydney, that was obvious, and the reaction would be one that would give Jane anxiety for a week, but with Sienna, that expectation existed too. Sienna was definitely the more understanding of the blondes, but that didn't mean that she was low maintenance either. Jane wasn't one to talk on that topic, though, but she just knew that there was no way that she was going to get away with bailing on this party, of all parties.

It wasn't any of her friends, or even her father or Nicole that got in the way of her California plans. She fell asleep. Going all day on a yogurt had Jane feeling extremely lethargic, and following her school day, she had situated herself in her bed. She was just planning on watching television for a little while, but when her eyes reopened, it was already nearly seven o'clock. She had planned on already being on a plane at this time, and if she had woken up naturally, maybe she still could have hurried off to the airport to catch a flight. However, she probably would have slept until the next morning if it weren't for the incessant knocking on her door.

"Jane, shouldn't you be getting ready for your friend's party? Your father and I are worried about you, you've been asleep all--"

Physically, all she wanted to do was hide under the heavy white blankets and pretend to be asleep for the rest of her life, but the distaste that she had for Nicole lately was enough to get her speaking. "I'm not asleep!" she snapped, cutting her stepmother off. The raspy tone of her voice proved otherwise, and Jane didn't doubt that the woman had been annoyingly nosy enough to come in and out of her room to "check on her" while she was sleeping. With Jane being her normal, dramatic self, she couldn't stop herself from crying as she realized that she was going to be forced to do something tonight. She wanted to go to California, but that opportunity was gone, and if she didn't leave the state, there was no way that she was going to get away with not showing up at Piper's party. Jane didn't even want to check her phone, which sat on her night table, because she was sure that she had some texts from the girls waiting for her. She was supposed to be at Sienna's house earlier for an afternoon of pampering, and unless it was her lucky day and that had somehow gotten cancelled during her nap, her lack of presence was likely noticed by now. Because her track record with not showing up to things wasn't great, she didn't expect that her friends would be okay with this. Even more so, though, Sydney was planning on going to Sienna's house. Normally, Jane felt like she could be enough of a buffer between them to keep things civil, and even after the Vincent-post, Jane still had hope that she could reunite her friends. She wasn't sure, however, that the two of them could do that on their own. Did Sydney even go to Sienna's? If she did go, did Sienna kill her, or did Sydney kill Sienna? The thought alone had Jane craving a martini, but she had too much to do, and the last thing she needed was to waste time being lectured by her father over drinking.

"Obviously I'm going to Piper's party, okay? Just leave me alone so I can get ready!" Her bedroom door was still closed, separating her from Nicole's view, but she still felt the need to roll her eyes as she spoke. She considered throwing in a tidbit about how Nicole should be spending her time checking up on her criminal of a sister, but thought better of it. Her father was apparently home, and, more importantly, she didn't have time of her own to waste. She figured that she had missed most of Sienna's pampering services, and it would be better to just show up to her house looking ready. If anything, maybe she'd catch a manicurist before they left, but she had to deal with straightening her hair and getting dressed on her own. She never went very heavy with the makeup, so it only took her fifteen minutes or so to finish that, and she was on her way out the door. Although she knew that she should just text the girls now that she was on her way, she was scared of what she might find if she even looked at her phone, so she didn't. She put the phone into her small clutch and was out the door and in her town car, luckily, without making contact with her father, Nicole, or Carolina on the way.

Sitting in the back of the car, she addressed her driver, and told him to head to Sienna's. Her fingers toyed nervously with the lace of her gown, and then with her mask that was situated on her lap, but she resisted the urge to check her phone. She would make up some excuse for her lateness when she got there, and hopefully, things would be fine. She would get a drink in her early on to lift her own mood, and maybe she could have a good enough time to convince Sienna and Sydney that their group needed to be a three - or, a four, including Piper - in order for any of them to have a good time.

When she arrived at Sienna's building, she still refused to look at her phone and text her friend to let her know she was there. Instead, in what felt strange, even to her, she approached the front desk worker and requested to be buzzed into the penthouse. After giving her name, and waiting for the man to call up to the apartment and get confirmation from someone there, she was given access into the elevator. She felt like a stranger entering the home that she had been in a billion times, but everything about today was feeling off for her. She tried not to think much of it, too engulfed in her own anxieties as the light on the elevator quickly moved up on every floor they passed.

After the escapade with Vincent's family, particularly remembering that Kelley was actually fun and that Sienna would probably like her a lot more if they hung out more, Sienna had left feeling satisfied. She got to spend time with Vincent, distracted Colette enough for them to both have a good time, and even got the chance to talk with a few classmates. Naturally, her first choice wouldn't have been to talk about the gossip blog and hear people's pity about Vincent sleeping with Sydney, but Sienna hurried and dispelled the conversation so that she could turn it to something a bit more fun. Overall, she had enjoyed her night. Which was saying a lot considering all that occurred the next day.

Despite her plans to have the girls over for the whole enchilada, Cynthia had already planned most of Sienna's day without telling her. Which resulted in a long argument that made Sienna's head hurt just thinking about it. Which prompted her, when she finally returned home to see Esmee entertaining her guests, to politely take that watermelon mimosa back like it was a shot. Instead of going to school, Sienna spent the majority of her morning in the recording studio to work on her EP plus a project with Ryan Leslie for an upcoming song. Not that she minded since he had helped with her debut album, but it was definitely a surprise to herself not alone in the isolation booth. Afterwards, they worked on sound editing and all that good stuff, which took up the majority of her day. By the time 2 pm rolled around, Sienna was being shoved into the outfit she has yet to take off for an interview with one of the top radio stations in New York.

So, when she had actually gotten home to see people she liked and all that good stuff, Sienna had actually walked in at around the same time Sydney did. Which prompted another mimosa. The two weren't...at odds, but it definitely seemed that way to the other girls and Sienna would gladly accept the blame for that. She hadn't thought too ahead when deciding to extend her invitation with Sydney and while she danced around with the other girls and sung their favorite songs while deciding on nails and hair, the tension was still palpable to her. And Sienna only had so much energy in the world to ignore it before it became clear that the two needed to leave the group. That idea was made after sending a few texts out to friends.

Well it's a good thing what I'm not wearing under this dress, huh?

Once those were sent, Sienna shared a look with Esmee, who allowed the distraction in the midst of her massage. Sienna's nails had finished drying some time ago and her last shower was an hour ago, so all she needed to do was get dressed and return for makeup and hair. Slipping back on her heels, Sienna stood, meeting Sydney's eyes from across the room. "Alright, lovelies! You all are looking fabulous as always!! Be back in a jiffy!" Most of the girls were popular enough, not unfamiliar faces. A few were her dancers who happened to also attend the same school, but they wouldn't be people Jane and Sydney would not have known. Sienna hadn't been that rude. Her eyes also landed on both Piper and Charlotte before flitting over to Tori, a slower smile appearing on her face before she began moving. As she started walking, she beckoned Sydney with a small nod before proceeding to ascend the stairs.

Despite what they had discussed, Sydney had not, in fact, messaged Sienna at all. Which didn't necessarily hurt or bother Sienna since she hadn't even checked her phone again until after she had left Vincent. And honestly, she didn't even know how that conversation would have went. Would they have argued? Would Sydney have claimed to not believe her? Would one of them have hung up on the other? She didn't know and as Sienna opened the door to massive closet, she didn't know how this conversation was going to go. But she had chosen the closet just for more privacy since it was considered another room and perched herself demurely on the chaise lounge her father had gotten installed in the room, lithe legs crossing as she finally allowed herself to meet Sydney's gaze again. "Sooo...where do you want me to start?"

Ricardo Slim-Helรบ was one of the most elusive kings St. Jude's had ever had and well, he honestly never could go a week without living up to that reputation. Despite how much he did, in fact, enjoy being with his friends and having front row tickets to the drama of the Upper East Side, he was still privy to running to random places around the globe, such as attending a pool party in Monte Carlo hosted by the son of one of his father's business associates. A trip that prompted him to miss school earlier in the day and only arrive back to his own home nearly two hours ago. So, when he received Vincent's text (and Ric could only imagine the intoxication level his friend had to be on because the tone was discernible), he was actually just finished getting dressed.

"Dorota, I'm heading out now. Make sure that Felipe actually eats something and at least makes it to the toilet before he ruins the Egyptian cotton," the UES king stated as he exited his bedroom, in the process of sending out a few texts to a few people. Felipe hadn't returned home yet and was still staying with Ric, which would have been fine had the socialite actually cared enough about his brother to want to entertain him. Carlos had forced him to bring his sibling along and Ric had done so begrudgingly, drinking enough vodka so that the very image of his brother didn't make him to want to choke the older man. Soon, RIc was downstairs and getting to his limo, making sure that the second one was on standby. He remembered how Sienna was during these kinds of parties, where she would be that girl willing to wear a princess-styled gown just because she knew she could.

To: Connor

Fridays were always positive. Sydney wasn't the type of girl who hated school. She actually did very well there, academically and socially. Without having to deal with Sienna and the annoying girls who seemed to favor the singer over her, the day went even better. She still wasn't letting Jane off of the hook for how difficult she was the day before, but she was going to wait to hear what Sienna had to say before crucifying Jane, in case she had to play best friend and protect her instead. Sydney hadn't contacted Sienna or Victoria the night before, despite initially planning on it. It wasn't that she was no longer curious, because the topic peaked Sydney's interest more than anything, but she also wasn't going to beg for information. Plus, she just wasn't in the mood for more drama. After leaving Jane's that night, her mother had forced her to get a late dinner with her and her grandfather, and it was tiring. Sydney had once longed for a mother to be a real part of her life, but now that she was old enough to take care of herself, she usually just preferred that the woman be off in Cabo or Venice or Miami, where she didn't have to deal with her.

Sydney had agreed to go to Sienna's to get ready for the party because Jane insisted on it. It was a tradition that they all get ready together, and Sydney didn't want it to look like she was scared of being around Sienna or something. She wasn't going to break a tradition just because Sienna had been a bitch lately, and so she went, even after Jane had failed to answer her texts once they left school. She figured that the brunette was just busy with some last minute shopping, but as the minutes ticked by, she became more suspicious. It wasn't that hard to be skeptical of Jane lately. It was like the girl that was once so transparent was now secretive and distant, and it bothered Sydney because she was losing the person that she had the most control over. Being pissed off at Jane probably made it more obvious to the girls that were at Sienna's, that she didn't really want to be there, but Sydney did her best to be civil. She sipped her mimosas and attempted to relax as she was pampered, but when Sienna nodded for them to go off alone, she readily followed.

"Where do I want you to begin? Um, the start would be good," Sydney snapped, unable to hide the annoyance in her voice. If Sydney could have kept up that ice cold bitch face that she had maintained for most of the afternoon, she would have. For some reason, that emotional and more dramatic side of her was shining through more frequently lately, and like at Charlotte's event, Sydney could feel that more uncontrollable side shining through tonight. Everyone knew that she could play the game of being unreadable and composed. Like Constance Billard, she was the queen of that too, but with Sienna, the grasp on her ability to play that was slipping lately. And she hated it. She hated it, especially since she knew that she couldn't completely blame everything on Sienna. When she lost control of her emotions, Sydney was forced fall back on playing the victim card, but she couldn't do that here. Not when she did sleep with Vincent, betray her once best friend, and then try to hide it all. Technically, she could still play that card, but there was no point in doing it when she was alone with Sienna. They were past that point. Things weren't nearly normal with them, but Sydney had, at least enough respect for her at this point, to just be real, or at least, realer than that. "Or maybe just don't even start anywhere! Jane's sick and she's so difficult, and doesn't even want to get better. All she does is keep secrets and bail on me like that's not even a big deal, and it is a big deal. If she wants to be like that, and be such a bad friend to us, why are we even trying? Why do we even care if Victoria-pathetic-Walsh knows about it?" Sydney knew that she was being rash and insensitive, but she couldn't help it. Even if she and Sienna weren't close right now, Sienna was the only person that she could vent to about this.
