Description

Alexandra Calvo Clemente

“I hope my over-peppiness doesn’t drive you away!”

Image
Nicknames
Alex or Alexa
“That’s what most people call me, anyway.”

Codename
Sonicboom
“I call it a tad generic now, but I was 12 back when I came up with the name, so I stuck with it. Plus, doesn’t it make me sound badass?”

Age
17 œ
“Almost 18! Almost!”

Gender
Female
“Y-you couldn’t tell?!”

Sexuality
Heterosexual
“I-I think that’s a bit personal, but whatever.”

Physical Description
Alex remains at a rather average stature for her age, being around 5’10’’. She weighs about 140 pounds. She sports the more athletic build, not being too curvy, but she still sticks out in the right places. Her skin is pale, despite her Spanish heritage, and soft to the touch, and never tans or burns. “It’s rather annoying, really.” She possesses lean muscles hidden under her smooth skin.

Her hair cascades over her shoulder blades in chocolate brown waves, reaching just above her lower back. Alex has stormy gray eyes with brilliant blue flecks in her irises. Her lips are full, and of a light pink hue.

Image
Personality
Alex has the stereotypical energetic puppy attitude. She’s got loads of energy and that annoyingly peppy attitude. She can be seen darting about the mansion, asking people how their day was and what they’re doing. Not to mention she’s mega curious about anything and everything, but she’s also rather naïve and
in a word
innocent. She doesn’t drink alcohol, she doesn’t smoke, and she wouldn’t know what you mean if you say ‘I did ‘it’ last night’. Might as well call it bow-chika-wow-wow. She’d know what you mean by that. Just to add to her inner puppy, she’s always hungry. She loves sweets and always seems to be chewing on some sort of dessert or candy.

Alex’s passion is music. She loves modern rock and pop, and has learned to play electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums, flute, electric bass, violin and piano/keyboard. She sings beautifully and hopes to be a famous singer when she gets older. But there is one flaw in her plan for the future. She has a pretty bad case of stage fright. If ask her to sing for you, she’ll freeze up or refuse.

Just because she’s all sweet and bubbly on the outside doesn’t mean she’s a weak fighter. She’s good with long range attacks and is capable of taking out many people in one shot. She can be a bit soft sometimes, but if you threaten her friends she will be ruthless and blast your ear drums. Bodily strength isn’t exactly her strong suit. She’s lithe, naturally flexible and quick on her feet. She’s one of the fastest runners at the academy currently. “Besides those with super speed, obviously
”

Powers
  • Sound Wave Manipulation
Alex can manipulate sound waves. She can take someone’s normal voice and project it to be louder than a racing car or alter it so they are quieter than a mouse. She can also literally mute people for short periods of time by concentrating enough. When in combat, she uses her own whistles to manipulate.

Alex can knock down one person to a whole crowd of people. But, if she were to attack less people at one time, it would be more powerful. If she were to hit one man, even at long range, it could throw them backwards a good distance and possible knock them out instantaneously. If she wanted to attack a whole group of people, it might just knock them down onto their butts and make their ears ring.

Using her powers for long periods of time can wear her out, far enough for her to pass out. But she usually just gets tired and needs some more food and some sleep.
  • Extreme Hearing Ability
As some sort of strange side effect when she gained her powers, her hearing was altered to be able to pick up very hushed sounds to use them. So very loud noises are one of her weaknesses. Sometimes she picks up on things she shouldn’t, and that can get her into trouble

“Stop making out over there! I can hear that!”

History
Alex was born and raised in Valencia, Spain. It is a beautiful city right on the east coast of Spain. Alex’s birth was a normal one, her mother was healthy, as was she. Alex grew up normally for the most part, her father was a well-known scientist and her mother was a journalist for the city’s paper. Alex’s parents were almost always at work, so she usually stayed home with her Uncle Pablo. Little did she know, her uncle possessed powers just like she did.

Alex’s first clue about her powers was one day when she went to a concert with her friends. They were right at the base of the stage, and it was so loud. So loud that is was hurting Alex’s sensitive ears. Suddenly, the instruments went silent. The band was still playing, but no sound could be heard. The stage crew checked the amps, but nothing was wrong. Alex and her friends decided to bail. They had just stepped off the lot when the band began playing again. Alex and her friends were all confused, but they just left anyways.

It was another time in her life that her powers seemed to show through. She was in school, her chin resting on her desk as she silently groaned in boredom. But things were just so quiet all of a sudden. Then every kid in the room erupted into laughter. Alex looked up to see the teacher moving her lips to formulate words, but, once again, no sound was coming out. She seemed to be unable to make any sound. Alex was perplexed. So, she just laughed with the others. Later that day, Alex overheard the teacher screaming at the principle that she wasn’t crazy and she literally couldn’t make any noise whatsoever. Alex brushed this off, deciding it couldn’t be her causing these things.

Many small things like these seemingly meaningless events occurred. Until one day when Alex was 14, she came rushing home to her Uncle, sobbing. She had heard someone teasing her friend brutally, and things were going to get physical. She had intervened, only to get a nice pop in the jaw. Anger welled up in Alex, and she began to shout at the boy, only for his eyes to roll back in his head. His limp body was suddenly sent flying backwards a whole twenty-five feet onto the ground. She looked around, only to see everyone covering their ears and squeezing their eyes shut. She immediately rushed home after that, skipping half of the school day.

It was then her uncle confessed he could spontaneously regenerate destroyed or lost bodily cells. He proceeded to grab a knife and slice his chest open. Alex watched in horror as the wound closed immediately, no scar was left behind.

Alex’s life changed after that. Her uncle told her about the Xavier Academy, but Alex wasn’t ready to transition not just schools, but countries. Sure, she spoke English, she just wasn't ready. It took Alex almost three whole years of bullying, teasing, and loneliness to realize that she would never belong at a normal high school. She finally agreed to go to the American Academy, and this will be her first year attending.

Bright rays of pure sunlight filtered through the curtains that were in front of the hotel window. Those rays seemed to find themselves upon the face of a sleeping girl.

“Ughhhh
Sun, why can’t you be less bright?” Alex mumbled to herself, grabbing a pillow and shoving it over her face. She still wasn’t too sure about all of this, a school for mutants in an entirely different country
It’s a good thing I can speak English
She thought quietly to herself. A sudden knock on her door pushed her into a defensive position.

“Alex
Wake up ...” The door creaked open to reveal the face of her uncle.

“I’m awake!” Alex grumbled, flopping back down on the bed. She was not a morning person.

“Then get up! We need to get going.” He ordered, nodding towards to door.

“Yayaya I’m going
” Alex muttered, heaving herself off of the bed. She shoved her uncle out of the room and began getting dressed. She wanted to go simple for today, so she tossed on a button up shirt, some ripped jeans, and her black combat boots. Her things were already all packed up into her suitcase. She was ready to go. And that made her sad.

Alex trudged into the kitchen. The hotel room was actually very nice; her parents had a lot of money. She searched through the fridge, but it was pitifully empty. Alex sighed and pulled out a small apple and took a large bite. It was sweet enough.

“Let’s go, Alex.” Her uncle was nice, but a bit bossy. Alex sighed and took her guitar and threw it onto her back and grabbed her suitcase.

“I’m ready, Tio.” Alex muttered bluntly.

Her uncle suddenly cracked a huge grin and planted a heavy hand on her shoulder. “Loosen up. You’re not going to make friends like that.”

“Ya. I know. Let’s just go
” Alex sighed, walked through the door. Her uncle watched her, with concern in his eyes.

The drive was actually rather short. They had rented a hotel in the city, so they were close. They pulled up, and Alex’s jaw dropped in amazement. The building was beautiful. She couldn’t believe this was where she was staying for the next few months. Her uncle parked his car and they both clambered out. Alex couldn’t take her eyes off of the gorgeous building as her uncle pulled her things from the car.

Alex’s mood had increased significantly. She was literally skipping with joy as they approached the immense mansion. She shoved through the doors hollering, “HELLOOOO!” She projected her voice to echo throughout the building. “Wow! That’s so cool!” Alex jumped up in happiness. Her uncle let out a hearty chuckle.

“Never grow up, got it?” He said, staring down at Alex with chocolate brown eyes.

“Trust me Tio, I don’t think I ever will.” Alex flashed a pearly white smile.

“Well, I gotta get going. My flight leaves in two hours. I’ll call you when I get home.” Her uncle placed her things on the floor, and threw his arms open. Alex leapt into them in a huge bear hug as he squeezed the air out of her lungs.

“Tio
you’re
crushing me
gaaaa
” Alex tried to breath in. Her uncle chuckled again, dropping her into the floor. Alex started sucking in air, trying to refill her lungs with oxygen.

“Adios, Alex.” He bent over and kissed her forehead, then waved as he left the building.

“Goodbye
” Alex said, rather halfheartedly. She watched, kind of sad, as he pulled out of the driveway. “Now, to find the registration... umm... place
” She sighed and pulled her guitar over her shoulder and her suitcase behind her and began to wander the building, doomed to get lost.

*Splat!*

You know, no one really appreciates their life all too well till it flips on it's head. One day, everythings same old same old, but why isn't that alright? Why do most of us want more? Even if it's pretty bad, you're at least familiar with it. Alex Sterner was learning this lesson in spades right now, stuck in his tiny seating on the public transit bus. He wasn't even aware how long he'd been there, hours blurring together with only the sun and scenery being any clear indication of the passage of time. He'd tried to catch some winks the night before, but failed miserably. The little bumps in the road only responsible in the minor degree. No, the main fault went to the group of jerks two seats back. Every so often they'd manage to throw something at him, either a physical object or verbal onslaught. "Hey, weirdo! Take off the hat, weirdo! Come on! What'cha hidin' under there? Huh? Hey! Hey, freak! You're heading there, ain't ya? Freakshow High?"

Apparently there was some mercy to be had, as the bus hissed to a halt at his stop. The obesse and disgruntled driver glared his way back to Alex and barked "You. Get off my bus." Maybe mercy wasn't quite the right word here. This was the part he'd been dreading, the Long Walk. Moving up from his seat, and receiving a parting gift of a baseball to the back of his head, he slowly made his way to the front of the bus. Everyone was staring, laughing, mocking, and murmering about him. Pushes, shoves, and elbows came from every other row. Tilting his hat down and avoiding eye contact, Alex looked up only for a moment to receive the most hated and judgemental stare he'd ever had on this trip from the bus driver. Hey, at least he was at the steps to get off, right? Just as Alex thought escape was presented before him, a foot jutted out and tripped him down the steps, his bag hooking on the railing and tearing away from his grip.

Tumbling down the steps and landing face-first on the sidewalk, Alex grumbled and began to brush himself off as he heard the hiss of the bus's air brakes and the tell-tale closing of the doors. He instantly was aware that his bag was still on the bus. "Whoa, hey! Wait wait wait! My bag! Hey! Stop! Stop The...............bus....." he finished meakly, lowing his once flailing arms in defeat as the bus cruised on into the distance. All his clothes and his laptop onboard. No, just keep going. That's great. Thanks, thank you for that. Honestly, from the bottom of my heart. You're a wonderful person, never stop what you do.... Alex just kicked the cement and sighed. Trying to not think of this as an ill omen of things to come, he began the long trek down the street to the front gates.

Some things become ingrained in you after a while, depending on how you live. Call them instincts, but they don't go away easily. For Alex, keeping his head down was simply a way of life. He never saw the mansion beyond the gates, never looked up till he was in front of it. Once he did, however, he was atonished. He was here, The X Mansion. Or the Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters as everyone else called it. Alex stood there dumbstruck for what felt like a good 5 minutes before he heard the door open to a middle aged hispanic man. Alex stepped to the side, readjusting his hat as the man gave him an odd glance. That was really the best Alex could hope for, seeing how he was dressed. Once out of view, he proceeded to walk with a nervously quickened pace to those two rather imposing double doors right as they closed. Gloved hand clasped onto the brass handle, Al took a bit to try and calm down, unsure what to expect. He'd been home schooled before he ever reached High School, so this was all alien territory to him. Finally, mustering some courage with a mental breath of relief, he slowly entered the institute.

The halls looked like they were starting to fill up, likely other students coming to see the new guys. Social activity, not Alex's strong point. Still, he was clueless as to what exactly to do. Should he seek out a teacher? Should he just wait? Did they know he would be arriving? His mother had sent a letter ahead of time, but since the mail man was as much of a bigot as everyone else in his town, it probably didn't make it. So Alex was left standing there awkwardly, trying to blend in as a wall flower before deciding to..... engage in coversation. As soon as on foot brought him closer to the gradually growing mass of students, his fear of crowds starting making his right hand clench up and shake nervously while his left began to lightly tap on his pant leg out of anxiety. Every so often he'd try to look up and ask his question, and each time he failed to make even a sound before just looking back at the surprisingly nice carpet and backing away.

How could he ever make it here, if he can't even talk?

“I’ve been everywhere in this stupid school
and yet I still haven’t found where to get regestrated!” Alex groaned in frustration, rubbing her temple. She wasn’t lying. She’d literally been everywhere. She eventually found the girls’ dorms hall, but she didn’t know what dorm she was in, so she just dumped her things in the hall and started walking around some more. At one point, she stumbled into the boy’s dorm wing. She got “strange” looks as she walked by, a light blush appearing on the tops of her cheeks. She looked like a desperate weirdo

After that incident, she began to panic. Alex was one to worry about things like this. “W-what if I never find where I’m supposed to register
will I have to wander these halls forever!? Will my ghost haunt this place, doomed to float around, all sad and lonely?!” Alex sucked in a sharp breath. She then stopped midstride, and let out a nervous laugh. “Dear God I need to calm down and just ask for directions
” As soon as Alex said this, all of the people around her seemed to grow suddenly, towering over her. Her own fright consumed her and she let out a small yelp and lowered her gaze as she tried to make her way past all of these people, and not make any eye contact.

With her gaze practically attached to the ground, she wasn’t really paying attention to where she was walking. Thinking she’d finally escaped all of those people, she then quickened her pace to a light jog. Suddenly, she connected with something firm, yet soft, and bounced off and stumbled back a few steps. She looked up and saw it was in fact a person, and a boy, and a cute boy at that. All of Alex’s embarrassment rose to her cheeks, and turned them to a bright red color.

“I-I’M SORRY!” Alex stammered, and slapped her hand over her mouth, realizing just a tad too late that her powers made it sound like she was screaming louder than at the top of her lungs. This made her blush even deeper and she glared down at the ground, still covering her mouth.

James was relaxing in the sun just taking everything in, what his new life would be like, what would the academy be like and how he would get on at the high school he has to go too. Whilst he was doing this, he felt a thud against his back almost knocking him off the ledge he was sitting on. He managed to keep his balance "What the...!" and before he could finish his sentence a loud high pitched sound screeched out. James again just about kept himself on the ledge as he covered his ears. He didn't even look at the person who almost made him fall, he was about to lose his temper as he said "What do you think you're..." then he stopped himself. She was cute, James could never resist a good looking girl. "I umm... Im James. You've got a good set of lungs on you." All the anger just disappeared, girls had that sort of affect on James, he would just stop what he was doing and lose all concentration. He just kept thinking Just keep cool, just keep cool... So he thought back to how he used to act when he was back at high school, but now it was better, he could use his powers.

He put on a smile holding a hand out making her shadow and his own move, he made his own shadow hold out a rose to hers and making her shadow accept it. It was cheesy but cool because it meant he could show off his own powers. He then quickly stopped using his powers because he wouldn't have been able to control it for too long without him making himself look like an idiot. He still didn't have full control of his powers and using them for too long meant that he might accidentally make the shadow shoot out of the ground randomly. This girl really was pretty, what great luck he had, first day and he meets a good looking girl.

"What do you think you're..." Alex winced, bracing herself, ready to be yelled and screamed at for being a weirdo and being so clumsy.

"I umm... I’m James. You've got a good set of lungs on you." Alex raised her perplexed, embarrassed gaze from where it rested on the ground and looked upon the boy who had gone from angry to sweet in half a second. She then looked at his hand, which wasn’t exactly held out to give her a hand shake, but doing something else.

Alex caught sight of movement out of the corner of her eye. Her head turned to see her shadow accepting a rose from James’s shadow. This made her cheeks return to the color of an actual rose.

“That’s so cool
” She muttered, and turned back to him, still rather embarrassed. “My name is Alexandra. I’m very new and very far from home, so I’m very nervous
Sorry again
” She said, not realizing she said very three times. “Oh, and that sound wasn’t created by my lungs
if that makes sense. I can alter sound waves to make them VERY loud or just make them disappear completely
umm, watch.” Alex explained, and then turned to look for some people talking to each other to demonstrate her powers. She found a group of five girls who were gossiping in their annoyingly high pitched voices. Perfect

Alex’s eyes narrowed as she concentrated on those girls. One girl was speaking to her friends, when her voice suddenly just shut off. Her mouth kept moving for a moment, not realizing that no sound was coming out. She stopped and made what would have sounded like a yelping sound, but nothing could be heard. Her friends were about to ask what was wrong, when they realized that they couldn’t talk either. A grin spread across Alex’s face as they all began to panic and ran off to seek help or something.

Alex stopped and their shrieking could now be heard. Alex started laughing, practically doubling over while holding her middle. She looked up at James. “That always makes me smile. It was kind of mean though
” She chuckled at the end, not really caring.

James watched her use her power with amazement "Well at least I know not too talk about you behind your back, you could hear anything". It was weird, they both seemed so comfortable using their powers openly. Maybe this place was good for him. He could interact freely without worrying about them knowing his powers. Those girls that Alexandra played a joke on were still quite freaked out, that was the sort of joke he liked, this girl seemed to have the same sense of humour as him. Then he heard her speak again, she had an accent. James thought, Jackpot. "So where actually are you from, Im from LA" he said to her.

As they were speaking he wondered if there was supposed to be somewhere they were meant to be. James had already seen his and he was rooming with the Bobby kid. Professor X had told him that he is able to control Ice, that could come in handy, and endless stream of ice cubes for drinks is always good, he joked in his own head. Maybe he should go see him. "Hey have you met anyone else yet? Apart from the professor and Storm I have met anyone, I was just told to come out here, maybe the professor has something planned for the new students."

"Well at least I know not to talk about you behind your back, you could hear anything.”

Alex smiled. “No that would not be a wise decision.” She chuckled.

"So where actually are you from, I’m from LA." James asked.

Alex’s smile faded, not happy she was reminded of home. “I come from Valencia, Spain. So, like I said, very very far away
” Alex sighed, staring at the ground as memories flooded her train of thoughts. “But that doesn’t really matter. I’m here now, and this will be my home for the next few months.” Alex’s friendly smile reappeared on her face, her mood perking right back up. Alex wasn’t one to be held down by things like this.

"Hey have you met anyone else yet? Apart from the professor and Storm I have met anyone, I was just told to come out here, maybe the professor has something planned for the new students."

Alex shook her head. “To be honest, I don’t think I’ve met anyone yet. Unless you’re secretly X-men.” Alex chuckled lightly at the thought, than realized it was kind of mean, and she blushed again, embarrassed. “I’m sorry, I hadn’t meant that to be rude.” he bowed her head apologetically. “I actually was looking for the place where you sign in or whatever when I bumped into you. Heh, literally.”

James laughed at Alex's comment, "Nah im no X-Man, I can barely keep my powers going for more than a few minutes." He felt kind of embarrassed at that fact, James didn't like not having control of his powers, especially since most of the people here were using them so easily. James was always trying to practice his powers but sometimes wished they would just disappear, life would be so much easier, just being normal. When he used his powers uncontrollably he felt like a monster, that would stop at nothing to do harm.

James looked at Alex, she seemed like she was easy to get on with, so James felt like he could trust her and anyway she was a mutant like him so why not. She seemed as lost as he was in this place, she mentioned about some place to get registered, James hadn't been registered in either, he took it that he was already, seeing as the professor brought him here himself. "I've got no idea where that is. Maybe if we went into the mansion we could ask someone. James hopped of the ledge and grabbed her wrist playfully, "Come on lets go." he said excitedly and jokingly pulled her along to the front door of the mansion.

"Nah im no X-Man, I can barely keep my powers going for more than a few minutes." James said with a light laugh.

"I've got no idea where that is. Maybe if we went into the mansion we could ask someone.” Alex shrugged.

“That is probably a good idea.” She chuckled, smiling, and kept rocking back and forth on her heels.

"Come on lets go." He said as he grabbed her wrist softly. Alex looked down at her wrist, and the tops of her cheeks turned a deep shade of red. She let out a little squeak as James began pulling her behind her as he ran to the entrance of the building. The redness in her face spread to consume the entirety of her cheeks.

“DiscĂșlpeme!” Alex shouted instinctively as they shoved their way past people, her cheeks still a light shade of pink. She ran along with James, trying not the look too embarrassed.

Everything was fine for about two minutes of running. That was until Alex tripped over her untied shoelace. With a small yelp, Alex lurched forward, crashing into James’s back. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders. She was frozen in embarrassment, blushing deeply again.
