Cy'Rell's Magic Lore and Limitations

A few thousand years ago the races of Cy'Rell slowly discovered their talents to manipulate the elements, eventually this developed into the art of magic and elemental manipulation called Transmutation. The base rule of this art is that you cannot simply create something out of nothing, it has to have an equal source.
Now after millenia of study the current magicians are common with this source, the basic elements of which all made off, from carbon to iron, from hydrogen to sulfur, all the elements found in the life of Cy'Rell.

Its manipulation of the existing elements, forming them to a new purpose, a new existence, following the rules of equal exchange. Now not everyone studying this manipulation of elements has the talent to actually exercise it. Since only very few people actually possess the mental capability to manipulate more than one or two elements. and thus the most mighty magicians are as powerful as the amount of elements they can control and manipulate, and also importantly the amount of diagrams they can memorize.
So on one side this magic power is endless, you could reproduce the same combination of elements endlessly, but on the other side you are restricted to the amount of elements you can control and the fact that you have to be very close to the element you want to manipulate.
It is possible to manipulate an element by simply wishing it to change, however since a person's mind is often easily distracted and unclear Magicians prefer 'saying magic' by speaking out what they want to manipulate and to what they want to bend it they have better control of their magic abilities.
To actually activate a mutation you need the following things: The exact amount of each required element to form your desired form, a diagram that describes how the magic should be channeled (each form has its own diagram, the more detailed the object, the more detailed the diagram. It can be drawn anywhere you like. You need to be within a meter of the diagram to activate it.), speak your intention, and been born with the power to channel magic.

Interestingly, all of these elements were made inside previous generations of stars. Life is literally made out of stardust! All heavier elements were made through fusion in early stars, which then exploded, scattering heavy carbon, oxygen, iron, etc.. throughout space.

Example:
Trees are made mainly of carbon, oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen. There are many different elements that go into making a trees, but most organic molecules are made primarily of carbon, oxygen, and hydrogen, with some nitrogen mixed in.
The mineral composition of wine is special as it contains potassium, calcium, magnesium, sodium, iron, sulfates, phosphorus, all of which necessary to cover daily needs of human beings.

Talents and Skills

Now next to the transmutation magic most magicians possess, there are certain talents showing up every so many times within Cy’rell humanoids, some are born able to breath underwater, some are born being able to speak to animals, some are born able to hear thoughts and even some are born able to influence people's behaviour.
These talents are however rare and there has been no humanoid to possess more then one of these rarities. (Any chosen talent has to be approved before being applied in an RP.)

Some more info on Magic

Magicians have always thrown themselves into the depth of a singular element. Since each element construction has a different flow in magic. Per example if I am using the damp of water in the a mist to construct a small pillar of ice it takes a certain flow of magic and technique unique to water. Whereas if I wished to extract carbon from around me to create a pillar I'd have to work with a completely different flow of magic and technique which is again unique to carbon. Applying both would be like trying to mold clay to a form and painting it at the same time, both need techniques to create a detailed object and are impossible to be used to construct it at the same time.

For slowing down the ions per example, you'd have to adjust your diagram based on the size of your target, the location of your target etc. To learn which adjustments to make and how to apply them takes years of practice. Only then you'd be able to do draw them yourself on the fly. Each flaw in your diagram could mean your magic is less or ineffective. On top of that, each element has a different kind of drawing.

To take a chemistry example if you are aiming to create a new compound by creating a reaction, you'll always need to consider the amount you need to combine to get a desired result.

The diagrams in magic are like the programming which decides how large your amount is, where it will be applied, for how long it will be applied and what it should do.
