Homeless Information

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ambassador Karik on Fri Jul 25, 2014 11:36 pm

A collection of information regarding various different planets and their respective moons and/or satellites. Also works for asteroids, space stations, etc. This is the place for the info for these locations that is or will be relevant, but that not enough information has been created/revealed as to warrant a specific OOC thread. Meaning, this is where you put random stuff for random planets down when you still have no idea whether the planet has any living species on it or what the most popular invented game for it is.

Anyone can post here. Things will be added/edited as needed. Please restrict your posts to informative-only, and ask the worldbuilder and/or a GM questions regarding info via pm or the general OOC.

You can use this area to flesh out worlds, cultures, etc, but please do ask to have a new OOC topic built once you reach about a pagefull's worth of information about one thing (planet, etc). That will make it easier for other roleplayers to find the information and not have to sort through text walls of other information that has accumulated.

Current post skeleton (7.26.2014)

Code: Select all
Place of origin: (planet, culture, moon, etc)
Content: (What you're writing down. Describe what it is.)
Affects: (Name what character, species, cultures, whatever that it affects that is either currently or will be relevant to the rp. Basically where you put down why you're adding it).
Notes: (Anything else. You can write that it is just generic or plot-relevant information.)

Example:
Place of origin: Luminari
Content: The two most well-known indigenous lifeforms are known as the Lum and the Mirror Kind. The Lum have round bioluminescent bodies that are slightly sentient and consider certain large stones their deities. They do not have any distinguishing facial features and do not appear to be able to see, despite their highly visual-based communications. They are known to gather in groups at a set time each year and orbit these stones, performing complicated light configurations and emitting a type of music sound. They are somewhat hostile, containing a mild neurotoxin.
Affects: Ambassador
Notes: Example information

Oranig

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ambassador Karik on Thu Jul 31, 2014 7:09 pm

Place of origin: Oranig, planet, Kivres-Servik system
Content: Oranig is a highly populated planet which has several massive cities near its inland "seas". It is a common trading hub for both legal and illegal markets, with varying levels of security. Because of its large number of ports and low number of laws against which species and goods pass through its airspace, it is a very common "pit stop" location.

The Singer's Grave

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ambassador Karik on Sun Aug 17, 2014 11:06 pm

Place of origin: Assorted planets and systems
Content: The Singer's Grave is a nomadic ship-for-hire run by the Journeyman Captain Kirin Sage Poletti. She recently took position of captain, and works alongside her 'Wing Commander' Tobias. Tobias usurps the Journeyman Captain in level, but does not claim direct control for most of the Grave's time. The Singer's Grave has a come-and-go assortment of crew-members ranging in number from 76 to 312. The species of crew is predominately biped humanoid but varies substantially. The most common reason for employment involves general security backup for larger organizations. The Grave tends to be indiscriminate in its choice of employment sources, but chooses to remain more neutral and stay out of politics. It contains more modern equipment, including self-piloting, emergency atmospheric paint (to prevent burning on re-entry should the shields fail), and several visual-friendly graphic interfaces across the primary observation window. However, it is slightly outdated compared to other ships it travels beside, and is more outfitted for space travel and evasion rather than firefights and invasions. Its reputation is mixed, with records listing it anywhere from 'drug smuggler' to 'transport of the deities'.

L'ochre

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ambassador Karik on Sun Aug 17, 2014 11:30 pm

Place of origin: Biro, planet, Kivres-Servik system
Content: The L'ochre ("Low-kray") are a species of sentient hexaped beings that are native to the rainforest regions of Biro. Despite their intimidating appearance, they are very passive creatures. They primarily communicate through vibrations that are sent and received by their crests. These are often lower in frequency than humans and humanoid bipeds can hear.

Place of origin: Dioantus Akidi ("Dee-oh-awn-tuss Uh-kidd-ee"), planet, Ivaldi System
Content: The most notable of the indigenous is known as the "Brakori" ("Bruh-korr-ee"), which are known to be rather invasive towards planets that have a high water-to-land ratio. While most remain on their home of Dioantus Akidi, there are pockets living on other aforementioned-type planets. These planets tend to have little to no colonization or other offworld groups, and are usually considered remote. The most well-known band of Brakori are known as the Autonomous Collective of Accepted Civilizations, which is the largest official spiritual government run by the species. It maintains contact and control over the majority of colonies and dispatches invasion fleets to new lands. Despite its name, it is more of a dictatorship.
The method used by the ACAC is generally a simple observe-invade-conquer. Their observations are often very short and consist of inconspicuously drawing out the locals to assess their level of technological competency. If they appear to not be a threat, the ACAC moves in quickly to simultaneously clear land for their bases and capture a decent number of the locals. The latter are used to extract information from regarding the planet in order for the new base to succeed.
The ACAC is exclusively water-oriented, holding onto the belief that there is a traveling water spirit they must locate in order to progress to the next step in their evolution. For each base that is built on a foreign planet, there are at least twenty temples and shrines built into or near its bodies of water. And while the terrestrial buildings are small in number and often crude, the marine ones contain very high amounts of development. Their specialty is genetic engineering, which is virtually entirely marine. The structures they "build" underwater are organic and grown from a bank of cells kept aboard the ACAC flagship.

The Brakori themselves are a two-part creature, with a primary "brain" on their back that networks into their quadrupedal main bodies. For the Brakori that travel among populated planets, these primary brains have been shaped in armor to appear like a humanoid creature. The armored brain contains the ability to speak in an audible language most humanoids can detect, a sort of "false face" to bring on the appearance that the Brakori is a creature tamed and ridden by a humanoid. This tactic allows them to appear less foreign on such humanoid-oriented planets. The "travel form" of a Brakori appears white to those who cannot see in the UV spectrum of color. For those that do, each one contains a multi-colored pattern that is identical to the other Travel Forms. At times, the Travel Form has been observed as generating light patterns along the body's framework - most notably the crest - that is used to communicated with bioluminescent-based marine life.
Affects: Follower Four, anyone on Norline
Notes: General information, some aspects are plot-oriented

Re: Homeless Information

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ambassador Karik on Sun Jan 04, 2015 3:53 am

Place of origin: Oranig, planet, Kivres-Servik System
Content: The Domana Kriston Palorah, or Spirits of Lightsong, are a phenomenon native to the planet of Oranig. These are bands of colored light which travel low to the surface of the planet. They move in a way similar to a riverstream, but retain a rounder shape along the sides. They are very small in number, with only twenty-seven cataloged. These bands of light alternate in color, and when approached, music can be heard. Small, individual streams of the Domana Kriston Palorah contain a single song, and do not gradiate much between colors. These individuals measure roughly two feet in diameter and connect directly between the largest streams. Large congregations, however, can reach up to sixty feet in diameter and are found in the heart of Oranig cities. These Domana Kriston Palorah are protected by the major governmental forces of Oranig and it is lethally illegal to make physical contact with them. It is believed by some cultures that these bands of music-light are manifestations of great spirits, and so it is common to find shrines and temples built right up against the pathways. Many other cultures consider them to be pure creativity, and many styles of art have been inspired by them. One peculiarity that has been noted is that many of the songs that the Domana Kriston Palorah contain are the very same songs that residents of Oranig create or import. However, there are also many songs carried that have never been heard before. The path of the Domana Kriston Palorah almost never changes, and pathways have been paved below them through cities. This has caused it to appear that the bands of light travel along pre-existing, winding roadways. It is not known where these bands of lightsong originate, as there does not seem to be any physical point.
Affects: Oranig culture, Ambassador, any visitor or resident to Oranig
Notes: The Domana Kriston Palorah bare a very strong resemblance to Earth's Aurora Borealis.
