"Brother! Surely you can't think to give her to Arik?! Why the hell should he get her?! He'll ruin her for sure! I have never opposed you in anything of serious matter, nor do I intend to, but this is ridiculous!"
The sharp words rang in his head for a moment. Everything else turned into a blur. His siblings took their servants, spoke to them as their own. Heartbeats quickened with nervousness and fear. Words of order were laced with solicitation; words of warning were filled with angst and doubt. It was as if he could smell the fear and anxiety in the room running off of every human. He could hear every separate heartbeat in his head, pulsing in unsteady rhythms, driving him to into madness. He wondered briefly how they handled āfoodā there. Would he have just been given one of their many slaves to please himself? His mind was drawn back to exactly where he was. Alice. Yes, he had to take her and discuss some things with herā¦and he had to find Bishop soon as well, and let him know that he had no intention of demeaning him with his decision of what maid he received.
He would have to respond to the letter sometime later. Give a more in depth reading. He definitely was not going to start leaving now, not to a place such as Eskye. He did not exactly criticize the way their economy worked,
